Guest Reviews
- Brian (10/5): Lovely B&B in a historic home - Everything was fantastic. Rural location on your standard local Irish road with very scenic views of the rolling hills. Within 20 minutes to towns and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent and everything was made to order. Proprietors were extremely accommodating and great to interact with. Could have used fans in the rooms for the warmer nights. But we didn’t ask either, so they may have been available.
- Christine - Cleo (10/5): - Une de nos meilleures réservations sur nos 10 jours en Irlande. Très bon accueil. Anita est très attentionnée. Très propre. Excellent petit déjeuner. On aurait aimé passé 2 nuits ! Rien à redire tout était parfait.
- Emanuela (10/5): -
- Devine (9/5): Charming residence, wonderful warm welcome. - Beautiful elegant house, very nice decor, lovely welcome from the hosts. We hadn't booked breakfast but host left lovely scones and we had tea/coffee making facilities. Really lovely experience and we would recommend. Only thing that didnt particularly suit us was that the house was further out from Ballina-Killaloe than we thought so we had to drive in for dinner and home. Magnificent views on route.
- Alan (10/5): Highly recommend B&B that makes it feel almost like home. - This visit set a high standard for our expectations of the trip. The owners are very kind. thoughtful, responsive to our requests. The room was very spacious with high quality bedding and furnishings. Breakfast was abundant and the setting was rich with charm and culture.
- George (10/5): - Beautiful old house. Very welcoming. Easily accommodated our late arrival. Great full Irish breakfast.
- Michael Colin McMahon (10/5): - Beautiful house, comfortable bed, great breakfast. It was all good
- Marian (10/5): I am going to recommend this place to all of my friends who travel and I would absolutely stay here over and over again! - I cannot rave about this B&B enough! It is absolutely gorgeous – I love hearing the story of how they built this beautiful home from stone ruins! The antique decorations are beyond compare! The room I stayed in was very very spacious and the breakfast was wonderful!
- anne (10/5): Room was beautiful, except shower flooded bathroom - Would have loved if breakfast was included as 100 was expensive for a night although room was beautiful Nothing I didn’t like
- Katharine (10/5): -
- Rogers (10/5): -
- FEDERICO (9/5): - La cortesia, gentilezza e disponibilità della padrona di casa la signora Anita
- Carlos (10/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Charming House & Owner - Beautiful house, charming owner--as so many reviewers have said, Anita is fab! Excellent communication through the booking process and a friendly welcome. The room was large and comfortable, with a modern bathroom. Super peaceful, with a lovely sitting room for our use on the ground floor and a seating area outside. There was a kettle to make tea but no coffee maker--perhaps one could be installed in the bar area or dining room? I brought coffee bags but I missed my real coffee morning addiction! I realise that we declined breakfast, and that coffee would have been provided for that.
Also, perhaps an honesty box in the bar area--with the possibility to buy some wine. We arrived unprovided and would have loved a glass of wine after a five-hour drive!

- sue (9/5): A great Irish experience. - The house has been immaculately restored and is in a handy and picturesque location. My room was immaculately prepared, comfortable and clean. Anita was a welcoming hostess and suggested a local pub for an enjoyable and delicious dinner. I will be back.
- Sharon (10/5): A true welcome and fabulous location - Property was lovely & quiet, fantastic views, clean & so comfortable. Anita & Billy made us so welcome (and the scones were lovely) that it felt like home from home. Whilst the location is out of the village, it is a short distance and well worth the effort. You will be treated like royalty! Nothing
- Colm (9/5): Superb - We left behind a few items and host found them and offered to send on. The house is beautiful and was fully restored in the old style.
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house, very comfortable, stunning views, lovely breakfast and the family were really lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Nothing

- Deirdre (9/5): Do yourself a favor and check this accommodation pit. - Such a pretty place to stay with a very Bridgeton feel.
My host Enita was so friendly and helpful. The tea and scone on arrival was fantastic.
The room is large and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was gorgeous, fresh and cooked to order.
The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is modern with toiletries provided. The location is perfect if you have a car with shops and restaurants within a short drive.
The TV has very few channels and the signal was interrupted. But as I was out and about it was not too much of a problem
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Luc (10/5): Exceptional - All is at the best level
- Paul (10/5): Really pleasant stay with great service and fantastic breakfast. - Beautiful house made up to high standard. A very tasty full Irish breakfast and lots of extra options for cereal and fruit all served up by the wonderfully friendly Anita. No complaints at all.
- Sheila (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful Georgian house, sympathetically restored and decorated. Nice location near Loch Derg. Nil, all good.
- John (10/5): A lovely comfortable night in a welcoming house. A lovely quiet location. - First rate breakfast. Location was ideal. Anita was so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again.

- Dean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Horgan (10/5): Elegant B&B and delightful hostess! - The house and suite where both beautiful, the property was elegant, and most importantly the hostess and host were warm, friendly, accommodating, and respected our privacy. Breakfast was abundant and tasty. Actually, we loved everything and would come back. There was a small hiccup in the middle of the night: the hot water heater blewup, but we didn't know it until our hostess told us at breakfast!
- Lulu (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful, comfortable and clean.Amazing courtesy from the owners Nil
- Nuala (8/5): Very good -

- Richard (9/5): A fabulous, homely welcome from our host Anita; we had a really comfortable stay - A beautiful period country house all to ourselves, with fabulous warm welcome and spacious and really comfortable rooms. It’s listed as Killaloe on Booking.com but on a very rainy night we found it some distance away.
- Adra (10/5): Exceptional - Anita and her family were amazing! Not only did they provide us with a place to stay, they helped us with our travel plans. Forever grateful for her kindness.
- Cristina (10/5): Perfect stay - Amazing beautiful house and garden. Felt like staying in a "manor" house (almost a palace) but at the same time so comfortable and cosy. The décor is lovely and it incorporates modern with traditional. It's the perfect place to escape from the city stress, surrounded by nature. Very short drive to get dinner. Breakfast was amazing and Anita was so nice and welcoming. There was nothing I didn't like
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janson (10/5): First visit to Ireland - Anita extended a genuine welcome, creating a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. She served AMAZING breakfasts at requested times to meet our schedule.
Our accommodations were excellent! No negatives! We enjoyed everything!
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucilla (10/5): Wonderful host and cosy country house! - Anita is a really warm, friendly host who made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The house itself is renovated to a very high standard and has a very cosy atmosphere throughout! Our room was extremely spacious with a private en-suite, and the king size bed was really comfy too. The breakfast was a particular favourite of mine - full irish with optional fruit, cereal, scones etc. Overall a very pleasant stay, perfect for a little getaway. Thanks Anita!
- Anaïs
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional - Anita was so warm and welcoming and makes fantastic homemade scones and lovely breakfast. Nothing.
- Xiaoran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathrine (10/5): Highly recommended - Anita went above and beyond to make sure that we had a happy and comfortable stay.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming and clean, Killaloe is a beautiful place to be and Bealkelly House is an incredible restoration story Looking to the future it would be helpful if there was an electric charger. However there are two sets of fast chargers in Ballina, just across the bridge
- Barbara (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful place to stay, Anita and her family are delightful, the accommodations are first class and the Irish breakfast was a wonderful treat.
- Brian (8/5): Very comfortable. - The location was a bit more remote than we expected. The nearby roads were single track with passing places.
- Stan (10/5): A very relaxing stay with an excellent hostess with wonderful food - Warm friendly welcome. Excellent food in an intimate dining room. Quiet location Nothing I could think of
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Livingstone (10/5): Highly recommendable. A blissful end to our week in Ireland. - Excellent host who welcomed us with scones and tea. Very friendly service throughout. Beautiful location. Great breakfast. All perfect
- Nigel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Threadgold (9/5): An Irish delight. - Anita was the perfect host. So helpful and made every effort to make our stay perfect. The work they have undertaken over many years to convert an old farmhouse with no roof into the property it is today is outstanding. We wish them every success as they continue to put their ideas for further development of their B&B. ?? What was there not to enjoy !!
- Lorraine (10/5): Fantastic stay in the Clare countryside - Anita was a terrific host and their home is beautiful. The suite was very large and I had the best night's sleep I've had in years. A really generous host. N/a
- Michael (10/5): Superb - Superb renovated Georgian house in a beautiful location with very friendly and helpful hosts. Excellent breakfast
- Mary (10/5): Perfect! Thank you! - The warmest of Irish welcomes from Anita and Billy.
Lovely surroundings of this beautifully renovated country house.
Delicious tea and scones on arrival.
It was all wonderful!
- Rodney (1/5): Bad - Very remote rural location, miles from restaurants or services. Not typically Georgian as advertized, and looks in need of restoration, not post-restoration. Place looked abandoned in late afternoon, no signs of life, no curtains in windows. Looked like a setting for a Hitchcock movie. We stayed parked outside the front door for 5 minutes to see if anybody noticed. They didn't, so we decided we would risk losing our deposit and search for more appealing accommodation. We lost our deposit and have no regrets. Would not stay there if they paid me.
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - Great host Anita! Super Irish breakfast !
- Martin (10/5): Lovely B&B with views of Lough Derg - Lovely location with fantastic views; comfortable room with lake view and newly renovated bathroom; fantastic breakfast cooked to order; Anita the hostess made us feel so welcome! N/A
- Berzina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- Pamela (9/5): Relaxing and comfortable stay - Beautiful individual country house. Classic furniture and very comfortable bed. 2 night stay and we were given the choice to have the room serviced which out of politeness we declined. On reflection would have been nice to have come home to a tidy bed and clean towels after our day out.
- Sue (10/5): Very pleasant accommodation -
- Mario (10/5): Great hosts. Room and bed really comfortable on a lovely property. Very warm and welcoming! - Anita was extremely helpful and warm when we arrived.
We were staying overnight for a wedding and Anita offered to bring us to our car which we were leaving in the wedding venue (15 minutes away).
Anita's husband/partner dropped us to our car the following morning which was a huge help.
Both very friendly and warm!
The property itself is beautiful and spotlessly clean!
The room we stayed in was really big and spacious.
The bed was really comfortable - had a great sleep.
A great stay and experience - I would hugely recommend staying! Nothing.
- Breda (9/5): A peaceful retreat - Anita was attentive, hospitable and friendly. I really appreciated the complementary tea and scone when I arrived. Breakfast was very good. Because I travelled alone, the room rate is expensive for single occupancy.
- Aileen (10/5): A B&B with a difference - A beautifully restored and tastefully decorated old country home with a very personal service. Anita and Billy were most kind and we were welcomed with coffee and scones. They reserved a table for us in a local restaurant and even drove us there and back. A most pleasant stay on the last night of our holiday.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Really comfortable stay, cake and tea on arrival, exceptional breakfast and such a beautiful home to be welcomed into.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Seoighe (10/5): Brilliant. Can't wait to see it in winter with christmas decorations - Beautiful house, lovely food, lovely host, incredibly comfortable beds The cleanliness of the rooms and the over hanging sheet on the bed frame could have been better, but that wont stop us coming back!
- Sharon (10/5): A wonderful experience - Bealkelly House is a beautifully restored Georgian House, in a stunning location , with an amazing and personal welcome. I highly recommend a stay there!
- Mikhail (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (10/5): Such a beautiful place to stay - Anita contacted us about the arrival time. Since we made a big day trip to Donegal, we did not know when we would finally arrive. It was no problem at all to make arrangements here. We were warmly welcomed and could immediately move into our "Shannon Suite". A lovely room in country house style gave us beautiful hours in the rather remote southern part near Lough Dergs.
The breakfast was delicious and Anita took good care of us. We can highly recommend this location to all other travelers. ---
- Eileen (10/5): Exceptional - Fab location, setting; gorgeous room and lovely atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming; great breakfast
- Brian (9/5): Great house, we will come back! - Friendliness of staff, clean & confort Breakfast was great, but could be better explained that was not included in price
- Molly (10/5): The loveliest stay ever! - Our room was lovely and big, the whole place was very clean. The lady that owns it was so welcoming and made sure we were comfortable! She even popped to a shop to pick up some soft drinks for us. The next day she also offered us a lift to where we needed to go. We couldn't recommend this stay enough! Nothing, it was amazing
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niall (10/5): Irish hospitality at it's best at Bealkelly - Anita at Bealkelly Country House is a wonderful host. We enjoyed our 2 night stay very much. The house is beautiful and is in a picturesque location. We stayed in the Derg and Shannon Suites and had the house to ourselves. Everything was spotless and comfortable. We had delicious scones and tea on arrival and enjoyed drinks in the bar in the evenings. We didn't have breakfast only because we don't eat early. Anita does catering, and judging by her scones, I can imagine the breakfast would be lovely. There was nothing we could fault.
- Lorraine (10/5): Excellent choice. - Breakfast to go to war on! Fresh cooked, unbegrudging in quantity & quality. Friendly empathic service went well beyond the brief!
- Greg (9/5): Superb - Forgot my sunglasses when checking, Anita the host dropped them out to the location I was working at. Excellent hosts
- Mark (10/5): Great night Bealkelly Country House - Amazing house.
So welcoming and helpful Tea and fresh scones on arrival, wow.
Great local restaurant recommendation.
Room was fantastic. Bathroom too. Mattress exceptional, so great night's sleep. Lovely and quiet so no outside noise disruption. Nothing, all fantastic

- Moriarty (10/5): Lovely stay in a great location. - Gorgeous house and lovely hosts.
- Johannes (10/5): Amazing property with awesome hosts - Cozy, well situated, with all the required amenities.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Myself and my partner attended a wedding in Killaloe, and stayed in Bealkelly house. It was exceptional, and a very unique place to stay. The rooms are extremely spacious and super clean, and we had a fantastic breakfast the next morning prepared by the host who was so friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geraldine (9/5): We had a beautiful restful three days , which we will remember. - The owners welcomed us in the door in a warm Irish way...not too formal. The lady of the house was very warm and friendly which is the best way to be. Her cooking was lovely and she was exceptional in her desire to please and to help. The always-lit turf fire in the beautiful high front hall was such a pleasure to see and to sit beside. The Georgian house is perfectly restored and has many old period pieces which give the right feel for its time. I can't think of anything else they could have done. The house was originally dated about 1780 , and it is quite special to feel oneself back in the days of Maria Edgeworth or Jane Austen. The restoration includes perfect Georgian windows complete with old window catch. The big red Georgian front door with fanlight above gives a great sense of balance and style to the front of the building.
Maybe real afficionadoes of Georgian living would like to have no TV electricity ...but we were glad to have those.
- Annmarie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Siobhan (10/5): Exceptional - From the second I stepped into Bealkelly Country House, I was amazed. Anita was such a welcoming host from start to finish. The room was top of the range along with the great scenery. Anita cooked us our breakfast and dinner and my god, I haven't had a nicer Italian chicken in my life!!!
This was an ideal location for a getaway with my partner. I will be definitely returning again!!! Everything was superb!!
- Megan (9/5): Superb -
- Gretta (9/5): will definitely be back, everything impressed me hugely - the owners were very friendly, accomodation was beautiful with fabulous views and beautiful decor throughout and breakfast was absolutely delicious with freshly baked scones and beautiful full Irish breakfast!! I would highly recommend this country house couldn’t fault anything
- Chloe (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Outstanding - We had an excellent stay at Bealkelly.
Entering the small lobby with fireplace, wing chairs and a small table is giving the guest a warm welcome. After occupying our room, which was nicely furnished, tidy and comfortable, we have got a even more warm welcome from the Landlady with coffee and scones.
The breakfast was everyday freshly prepared, very tasteful and excellent.
As well as, we enjoyed the daily conversation with the Landlady which was informative, always easily running and humourful. We felt like being a part of the family, indeed. Nothing about the accommodation.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (3/5): 18th century cold water flat w/ flies - old manor house, nice setting no hot water, over 30 flies in room
