The staff was friendly and it was in the middle of everything so I didn’t have to travel far to enjoy the island. The roof top scenery. The on site pool and the location of the hotel.

General Manager, Ivan, consistently responded positively with ways to make our stay more comfortable. If you are staying for more than a few days, the rooms need places for unpacking clothing / suitcase storage.

Gerrit (2/5): - De lokatie is perfect, de rest is overated. Echt heel muf water uit de kraan Zeer gehorig! Geen dagelijkse schoonmaak. Ontbijt is zo armetierig,... Eigenlijk schandalig. Het is in een hoekje van het kantoor neergezet. Een literpot Jam en een literpot pindakaas waar al 500x een mes is ingestoken, een bonk boter waar al 20x een stukje van is afgesneden met als gevolg dat het vol broodkruimels, jam en pindakaas zit. Gewoon goor! Teveel geld voor deze accommodatie. Ik zou het liefst m'n geld terugvragen.

Thanks Ron & Rhonda you have a great place. More hooks on the walls to allow the hanging up of clothes that have been worn but not dirty. Ability to get ice.

Window fell out on my head when I tried to push it up hence need updating. Seat on balcony was old and broken Had heavy rain which came in under the door. We still had a good time. Love it here. Friendly helpful people.

An employee that cleaned up outside our room also woke us up with loud music every morning playing on a bluetooth speaker. This damaged our ability to sleep soundly. We asked for privacy but nothing changed. Otherwise, great spot if you're wanting to be in the middle of the busiest area in town.

Despite paying for two reservations, I was only given one key at check-in. The room itself was far from clean, there were roaches, not once but twice, that I had to kill myself. The towels provided were cheap, thin, and often stained, which only added to the feeling of poor upkeep. After reporting these issues and noticing the manager’s change in demeanor, I no longer felt comfortable raising further concerns. To make matters worse, water from what seemed like the upstairs AC unit drenched the walls. When I pointed it out, the manager dismissed it, blaming the weather and the AC being on. That explanation was clearly not the case. The unit made me so sick that I only started recovering after leaving for another hotel. This was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The only positive thing I can say is that the pool was decent. Beyond that, the stay was not worth the money, my clothes were ruined, my health was affected, and my vacation was spoiled. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Maria (8/5): - We come to Caye Caulker every year and this was the first time staying at this property. Location is great as you are in the heart of Caye Caulker and not far from the split. The room was big, clean, enjoyed the coffee maker and refrigerator. We loved the balcony and the ability to people watch and relax. Pool was clean and felt great after long days.

The last time I went was in 2023 and it was nice so when I planned a trip to caye caulker staying here was a no brainer and I love that it’s so close to everything. The property is so rundown now. The doors are creaking and you have to lift and slam it for it to close. There are big cracks in the tiles. The faucets are rusting. The bedsheets are dingy. The paint is scraping and falling off the wall. It’s giving pay by the hour motel vibes. They need to do a huge renovation and get the place back in order. I was disappointed

It's very centralized to the ferry, The Strip, hardwood gym is a short walk and stingray beach, and Tarpon feeding is literally 100 ft away! The beds are comfy and I noticed a few bathroom updates too! Customer service is friendly and very attentive to things I may have needed throughout my week stay. This is my 3rd time here, and I'll be back! BEST BELIZE IT!!

Ivan was also extremely helpful in providing directions, tips, and activities for me to do on the island. I would stay at this property again!

Only disappointment was that the site said there was a continental breakfast, but when asked they said it is only through May. I would recommend this Hotel to travelers, just remember that you will have to walk and get your coffee each morning.

172jacobm (8/5): Cool Hotel with a few drawbacks. - My stay at Barefoot Caye Caulker Hotel was a mixed experience with some great highlights and a couple of significant drawbacks. The hotel itself is very clean, and the daily housekeeping service was a nice touch, ensuring our room was always tidy and comfortable. The WiFi was reliable and fast, which was a big plus for staying connected. The hotel manager was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The pool, while on the smaller side, was impeccably clean and a great spot for relaxing during the day. The upper patio deck was an absolute standout—spacious, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind or socialize. It quickly became our favorite spot to hang out. However, there were some issues that impacted our stay. The biggest drawback was the lack of 24/7 staff on-site. On our first night, a group of locals was drinking and smoking in the chairs right outside our room until 3 AM, making it impossible to sleep. The second night was even worse, with another group of locals hosting a pool party at the hotel until 5 AM. After two sleepless nights, we were ready to leave. Fortunately, these were the only two incidents during our stay, but they left a lasting impression. It’s worth noting that this area of Caye Caulker is lively and loud most of the day, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re looking to be in the heart of the action. The hotel’s location is ideal for those who want to be close to everything—restaurants, bars, and activities are all within easy reach. However, if you’re seeking a quiet, low-key retreat, this may not be the best fit. Overall, Barefoot Caye Caulker Hotel has a lot going for it with its cleanliness, friendly staff, and prime location, but the lack of overnight staff and the potential for noise could be dealbreakers for some. We probably wouldn’t return due to the sleep disruptions, but if you’re looking for a vibrant, social vibe, this could be your spot.

Verified traveler (8/5): Great location on beachfront - Barefoot Caye was a good location for our one night stay. We appreciated that it was a 5min walk from the Ferry and on the beach front side. It is a short walk to the Split and part of a lively part of the Island. The hotel is smaller, the room was ok. The mattress could be better, it was definitely sinking into the middle. Loved that it had a balcony and a water bottle filter in the room. The front desk and staff were super kind.

jackiebC396YA (10/5): Excellent Hotel! - Everything about this hotel was excellent! Staff were kind and helpful. Continental breakfast daily in the office from 8-9am. Even had home made cinnamon buns one day! Rooms were clean. Beds and pillows were comfy. Great location. Only 2 min walk from the Split and Lazy Lizard and Sip n Dip. Barefoot hotel restaurant across the street had the yummiest breaded chicken sandwich on a brioche bun. I had it twice! Grocery store 2 doors down where you can buy beer for $2 each among other items. Alcohol is expensive so be sure to buy it when you arrive at the Belize City airport. $22US for absolute vodka there whereas it is $62US at the grocery store. Hotel across the street from the sea but no long beaches anywhere for swimming or walking anyways so you can walk down to Sip n Dip and hang out in the water there.
