Guest Reviews
- Joakim (2/5): Stay clear - This place is located in a "ruff" area with worker accommodations right next to it. The feeling of the area is unsafe. I tried to check in on by calling as instructed but wasn't able to get in contact with any of the staff using both numbers stated and whatsup app.
I would stay clear of this place. Luckily hotels.com support helped me book another location.
- Kim (6/5): - They had an ok kitchen but no cork screw, no colander. A really large bathroom but the sink was very, very small - so weird. Beds comfortable. Power went out for awhile but someone came and they were able to restore it. We had booked in error the day before and switched it but they refused to give us a refund for that night. It was 6 months before the visit so they totally could have sold it again. We were upset about that poor customer service.
- Wei- (6/5): - Communication is terrible
- Verified traveler (6/5): Somewhat disappointing - First, this place is not "on the beach" but about 400m away and you cannot see the sea. The first room provided had not been cleaned. Provided with a second room which was clean and bigger but hellishly hot and the window was nailed shut so we had to leave the room door open to try and remove the heat. Eventually found that the bathroom had underfloor heating but could find no way to switch it off. Asked how to do so but received no reply; seems the owners just turned it off because the room did cool down over three days. Owners not good at communicating at all. A toaster would have been useful.
- Cheryl (6/5): - Its an older building but clean and comfortable inside. The check in is a bit confusing. It tells you to call a number to get the code for the door but they didn’t answer for quite awhile. Guests seemed to get different check in instructions. The day after I received an email with the codes. Overall clean decent place in a remote location
- Ilma (6/5): Nice place, but horrible chech-in - The apartment was warm and nice, it had all the essentials and was spacious and private. However, the check-in was very bad: the check-in instructions said to call before arrival to get the key box code, but it was impossible to reach the host - the phone was showing either "busy" or nobody was picking up. When we arrived we tried to call from the phone that was on site, but there was no instruction how to call from the local phone, only international. Finally, I wrote to the host via Hotels.com app. Luckily, shortly they have sent me the room number and key box code. We got the room, but all this hassle definitely ruined the mood.
After our check-in, we met another traveller who too had problems with check-in and reaching out the host: he got the room details, but there was no key in the key box, so he waited for a few hours to get it fixed. Nice place, but really bad communication and check-in experience, unfortunately.
- Chetan (10/5): - One of the best accommodations we have in our trip. Place was really clean inside and 2 large lobby room served as a way for us to play games and eat food with while family. Best part is we were the only ones for the 3 nights we stayed. Highly recommend this place for big family.
- Luc (6/5): - The overall external building is somewhat run down. The rooms however were quite clean. We could have benefited from a spaghetti strain and a cork screw. Also we find it nice when coffee is provided. If the fridge had a freezer we could have used it for our freezer packs. Stokkseyri is a very quiet town with not much to do.
- Gayane (6/5): - The room has everything from fridge, electric stove, toater, coffee maker, microvave, but there was not fen. The place was quiet but there were not many people.
- Ashleigh (8/5): - The check in was a smooth and easy process. There was construction going on around the property on the road which made things confusing, created detour. The room was nice but when other people left or entered their room it was really loud as the sound would carry- to the point it sounded like they were accessing your room. People came and went throughout the night so it was loud with doors slamming whiling trying to sleep.
It didn’t come with tea or coffee which was unfortunate but not a big deal. all other properties we stayed at in Iceland, that had a kitchen, included coffee and tea in the room so it was surprising this one didn’t.
Beds were comfy, room was big and a great space.
Overall it was a good location, great room, but loud from other guests. It was a good stop along the way. We also managed to see some northern lights which was lovely
- William (6/5): - Nice base for exploring SW Iceland. Odd property - new IKEA look for an old roadside motel. Stayed 5 days - trash collection stopped after 2 days and no note on where to take it. Shower design floods the entire bathroom so don’t leave anything on the floor. Town nearby was cute and volcano is an hour down the road.
- Justyna (10/5): Polecamy - Bardzo wygodny pokoj z dobrze wyposazonym aneksem kuchennym, czysto, schludnie i cieplo, calkowicie nowe wyposazenie.Polecamy.
- Natalie (8/5): - A decent night's stay by the ocean
- Jane (2/5): - Property is not well located, there are no personal to check u in. It took 40 min to finally get in touch with someone.
Please stay away
- Kathryn (2/5): - Check in was very confusing as no one was there to check anyone in. Using phone system that did not work. Entire place smelled very bad. Loud late at night. Overpriced for what it was.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great - overall great. nice location and room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check-in was not as easy as told/expected. No small towels and bath rug.
Large rooms, nice view, clean.
- Oory (10/5): Nice place - Nice place along the way.
Close to the beach
- Jerome (8/5): - aucune réception, c'est un self-checkin, et c'est pas ce qu'il y a de mieux. Le reste était ok. La ville de Stokkseyri est vraiment à voir;
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to find and pick up keys directly outside our room using the PIN provided prior to our stay. We spent 3 nights here and for the most part loved it. The room was clean, as was the linen and towels and the shower and WiFi was excellent.
We had everything we needed for self-catering, a hob, fridge, kettle, utensils, coffee maker, but the toaster was broken and needed to be held down to keep it on.
There were some bugs in the room that kept reappearing to the dismay of my wife.
We didn't bump into anyone else during our stay here and the only time we spoke to someone was when the staff knocked our door to ask if we needed anything. The cleaners were banging around early in the morning too making way too much noise.
Overall pretty decent stay with some drawbacks.
Accommodatie is gedateerd.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was one the nicer place we stayed during our trip to Iceland. There is no front desk at this property. We called earlier in the day and we were given our room number and the code for the key lock box. We were able to arrive any time after 4pm, which was nice not trying to rush to the hotel to check in by a certain time. There was a kitchen, bathroom with a shower, and TV in the room. The room and the main building was clean and we had no issues. This stay was definitely worth the price we paid.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - On arrival took some time to communicate with Property Management regarding entry of the building showers had not been cleaned extremely dirty first day again tried to make contact regarding the water as it took some time to heat up no instructions or anything in the apartment to tell us you just have to wait and let it run
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Schone, moderne, wat sobere kamer. Prima bed. Helemaal prima.
Iets gehorig
- Mario (8/5): Good Shelter for the night, but creepy. - It works for a night. Went in October, the place is quite creepy since it’s in the middle of nowhere and there’s nobody there. I’ve stayed in self-checkins in Iceland before, this one had a different vibe. However, it serves it’s purpose: shelter for the night. Kitchen in room is stocked, bathroom’s good and the tv has a lot of channels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, simple place - Decent hotel for the price. Looks much worse on the outside than it actually is. Would definitely stay again.
- Jin (8/5): - Everything was good about the room. Easy to find, comfortable and clean. I just wish they did daily room service.
- Wolfgang (6/5): Quite ok with no comfort - Missing an oven or at least a microwave as well as a dining table
- Anna (8/5): In the middle of nowhere. - Clean, simple and basic apartments locates in small village.
- Kathleen (8/5): Moderne studio in rustige groene omgeving - - Ruime (ver)nieuw(de) studio, frisse uitstraling (modern/wit)
- Privé badkamer en keuken
- Proper
- Mooi uitzicht op het groen, zonsondergang
- Andy (2/5): Literally a S***hole - This property is a self check in service, our room had no key in the lockbox as it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guest that stayed there. After 15 minutes of trying to contact somebody who worked for the apartment, we were given a replacement room. The new room smelled of raw sewerage, the water in the S bend of the toilet wasn't there so the sewer line was venting into our room - if you've been to the streets of Thailand you'll know the smell. We complained about the unbearable odour and after another 15 minutes we got a new room with the exact same problem. The lady on the phone said that she has no other options and would offer us a refund yet offered no sympathy. This was at 7pm and finding replacement accomodation was very costly and difficult.
Thinking this would be the end of it they have refused our refund dispite an email and confirmation over the phone saying they would. Even if everything was perfect the place is in the middle of nowhere and is overpriced for what you get. Please, take my word for it. This is not worth the time or money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place, all newly remodeled. Fair price and not to far from Selfoss. Only suggestion would be that the owners do something about he echo in the hallway. It amplifies the noise when people are coming and going. Other then that we never heard any other guests. Would stay here again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Countryside Cozy - Best clean affordable apartment for northern lights pursuits!
- Emma (4/5): No hot water..! - The room we were allocated in the email was not made up and had been used. We had to phone and were just told to go to another room, no apology and the lady didnt seem atall surprised. The apartment is nice though, clean and spacious but we have no hot water and no spoons. We had to eat breakfast with a tea spoon! This place could be great, as it is though its not.
- chao (2/5): No hot water or heat - When we checked in, we notice there was no hot water running, we attempted to call the hotel management but no one answered, it wasn’t until almost checkout time that the hot water came back on.
- jun (10/5): Well equipped, very practical. - Functionality good, dark outside can see aurora if there is any.
