Guest Reviews
- José Francisco (4/5): No te dejes engañar.
- kyle (8/5): - It was very noisy. Late night and early morning traffic and people kept us up, but it was very conveniently located
- Nicole (8/5): - We stayed at this property during our road trip through Portugal. The place was perfectly located. Walkable to the river and other nearby restaurants. Great size for our family. We did not know we had booked our stay for the time during São João and there was a DJ right below our window all night. It was fun to see all the lively people during this time but the late night DJ playing was definitely a different experience. Since the apartment did not have AC, and the DJ was playing until 5am, we could not open the windows to let the fresh air in. The apartment did not have a fan so it was very hot and stagnant while trying to sleep. I was able to contact them, but because of the festival, we could not get a fan until the next day. Having a fan the second day (and no DJ below us) was definitely a better sleep. It wasn’t the apartment’s fault, but definitely did not know there was no AC. So just be aware. And ensure to message them before to ensure there is one. Other than that, it was an amazing experience in Porto. We loved the festival and seeing all people in town, the lanterns and fireworks. It was definitely an experience we did not even know would happen. And it made our trip to Portugal unforgettable!
- Verified traveler (8/5): great location but odd layout - As others have said, the location is wonderful but also on a very noisy street. There is no air conditioning, so if it is hot while you are there, it is difficult to sleep at night since the noise means closing the windows. The layout of the apartment is its worst feature. It's like a long narrow bowling alley with zero lighting in the kitchen: nothing overhead, no lights under the kitchen cabinet/shelves to see when cooking. There also are zero knives other than butter knives, not even one serrated knife to cut a baguette. And no drying rack for washed dishes to dry (there is no dishwasher, which is fine, but then there really needs to be a little drying rack). I can't remember if my reservation called the room a one-bedroom (we were on floor 1) but the bedroom isn't separate from the living area (there's a wall partitioning one side but then it's open to the living room) so it's really a studio apartment, not a one-bedroom: no privacy between those who are sleeping on the main bed and those who are sleeping on the foldout couch.
- karly (8/5): - Close to Alfama sites. Decorated nicely but the apartment could use some cleaning/painting. Walls were very marked up and appeared to have some liquid splatter. Balcony faces many other apartments in courtyard (not private)
- Esperanza (10/5): - its a perfect location , we found it a bit dusty specially up in the loft.
- Monica (10/5): - Great location. Beds/pillows a little hard and basic. Clean.
- sharon (6/5): - The apartment is in a great location, lively atmosphere. It is a nice flat and we would rate it higher but for the beddding. The two double bed mattresses where rock hard so no one got a good sleep for the 4 nights and one of us moved to the sofa bed but it was the thinnest mattress so you could feel all the lumps and springs. If this issue was sorted out we would definitely stay again.
Shower was great with great pressure.
Coffee machine was a nice touch but no milk or cream was provided. Also simple things like no salt or pepper so we had to buy these for the flat.
Communication was good and fast but just be aware that check in is at 3pm and checkout at 11am. There is no reception area so you have to lug your suitcases with you until those times.
- Ayellet (6/5): - We expected a little more for a 4 star rated apartment.
Pros:
The apartment was centrally located with plenty to do around and lots of restaurants to choose from. There was a lovely view and it was clean and easy to access.
A fan provided (despite the heat, the fan worked well and it wasn't too unbearable).
Cons:
There was a terrible damp/ mould smell in the toilet/ shower room. The shower hose looked unclean and was coming apart at the shower head.
The internet & TV did not work for the first day and 1/2 of the second day (a technician was arranged eventually).
Kitchen - there were only spoons, the two sharp knives were dull and one was bent, there were no large bowls and there was no drying rack, which was needed as there was no dishwasher.
Not enough hangers for clothes - we received more on the 3rd day.
TV/router socket seemed loose.
Side lamp was unusable due to broken plug.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great flat. Great view. The location is too noisy. The parking issue is a problem. We didn’t have all the things we needed in the kitchen, like garbage bags, salt and pepper, napkins
- Kristen (8/5): - Beautiful clean apartment in the heart of Porto. Very pretty windows with ironwork. Unfortunately the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable making it hard to sleep. Also the rooms get very hot with no ventilation (or A/C)
- Tony (8/5): Review - Great place
Great location
Place needs air conditioning
Place was too hot to sleep
- Samantha (8/5): - Great location and well kept property. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Porto.
- Julie (8/5): - We loved the exposed stone and balcony and the location of the apartment. We understood there would be noise from the street due to location but did not expect the linen service people to deliver middle of night / early morning, slamming doors, shouting to one another down the hallway as they dropped off clean linen to the closet at the end of the hall. Extrememly disrespectful.
- Yelitza (8/5): - The apartment location was espectacular, the apartment was small but cozy and with the essential. The only disappointment was the sofa bed was so uncomfortable.
- Paige (10/5): - Loved the balcony doors!
Great location.
Wonderful for 2 couples.
- Judy (10/5): - Excellent location & close to attractions
- James kenneth (10/5): Lovely place - Location is excellent right in the heart of the city. Couldn't have picked a better spot. Our kitchen had a washing machine which was great as we travelled light. No Air Conditioning but they provided a fan.
You are in the centre of town so there is a little noise from outside but nothing off putting, it gives atmosphere.
Small cafe, bakery and wine shop next door so you are well catered for. We used them every day.
I would 100% stay here again. Marvellous.
- Isabelle (10/5): - Great stay, great location, we loved it!
- Diarmid (8/5): Spacious apartment in great location - Spacious apartment in great location. Clean, but could maybe do with a bit of renovation though.
- Natalie (10/5): - Location was fantastic! You can hear live music from the restaurants a block down. Super close to the water and the attractions.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great location and beautiful apartment .
Lovely people operating it
- Sanjay (6/5): Great location, but need cleaning and maintenance - This property is at great location with walking distance to all tourists places. However the floors was dirty unclean, bathroom door locks was broken. Property needs cleaning and maintenance before renting again.
- STEPHEN (10/5): - Location, clean, safe, quite ,value ,We will book this property in the future.
- Ayman (6/5): - Great location, but very bad communications. I was clueless on how to enter the property. The instructions to access the property should be clear during booking not checking in, as if you miss the email (probably the case as you are traveling), you are screwed. The apartment missing a lot of basic stuff to live comfortably. It has the disadvantages of the hotel (no front desk, no one to ask, no breakfast) and the disadvantages of an apartment (no basic stuff like salt/pepper, cooking tools etc.
In general, the apartment was good but needs some improvements.
- anna (6/5): - I stayed at this property with my son on a short break.
We had chosen an apartment with two bedrooms and a living space/balcony. The location of the property was perfect, walkable to plenty of places of interest and to eat/drink. The living space was light, well equipped and it was great to have the balcony with doors allowing plenty of airflow. The apartment was number 2. We were disappointed almost as soon as we entered the apartment, the place smelt damp and there were lots of wires/cables and electrical stuff hanging out of the wall by the front door as you entered. The next room was the bathroom and the door handle was hanging off. There was only one light working in there (no window) and it wasn’t the one near the mirror so it was pretty tricky to do hair/makeup as this was the only mirror in the whole apartment. The next room was the smaller bedroom. This had a single bed in it and that was all. There was a broken lamp which had a smashed plug left heaped in the corner. The paint on the walls was chipped with patches missing and the room smelt very damp. There was no window in this room and it looked like a prison cell. ( I chose to sleep in the sofa) The next room was the double bedroom this had two small tables and a double bed. a little daylight came through from the living area. It was a nicer room but still lacked any kind of decoration. It also had a lamp but there was nowhere to plug it in so it was unusable. The decoration throughout was grubby and chipped.
- Kathy (2/5): - great location, close to everything, property was old, bed old, toiled smelled of sewage
- Emma (10/5): - Beautiful building and apartment on such a charming street. Amazing view, too. Plenty of room, lots of light, convenient to restaurants, stores, the river, etc. We did ask to reserve the top floor apartment so we could have a third bedroom and the balcony, but were given a different apartment so had to make some adjustments. Would prefer to book our preferred unit and be assigned the same one, especially with different prices.
Will definitely stay here again.
- David (6/5): Not the easiest experience - It's a decent sized apartment in an acceptable condition. We had three major issues: a fridge that does barely work at all / a different room than than the one we booked and paid for / a complicated online form to register the guests prior check in. If you want that kind of hassle you do not use hotels.com. We were even asked to pay the apartment again to get the code for entry. That's not acceptable and a good example for poor communication.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bathroom was in poor condition. Sink and shower drains were very slow—had to stop shower several times to let water drain. Apartment was dimly lit, with two non working fixtures (one coming loose from ceiling). Code given for access to apartment did not work and we had difficulty reaching apartment manager to get the correct code. The only thing favorable was the location, centrally located.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The price for this apartment is in the location. It was clean, but no towel service or changing of sheets makes a longer than 3 night stay less pleasant (for comparable nearby hotels with full service at similar prices). The (very) positives are that the windows are new and the views are excellent. It permits a great spot from which to explore the city. The downfalls are that the bed was less comfortable than expected, we did not have enough toilet paper for the entirety of the stay and bathroom is exceptionally small. If I return to Porto, I will choose a different hotel a little more comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was great very clean has a washing machine with dryer which is always great when you have kids
Location can not be better, it was great
Only advise would be is getting a bigger ironing boards for the apartment
We will be back for sure
- Charles (6/5): - Great location but apartment didnt look like pic and we had not enough towels, some outlets broken and toilet flush not attached
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location, amenities, atmosphere, convenience all wonderful. Hope to return to this apartment next trip to Porto.
- Mike (8/5): - Great location. We were on the fourth floor with a terrace and the view was the best. Sitting out there with a glass of wine watching the gulls ride the wind currents with the beautiful landscape behind, was mesmerizing, We spent more time there than anywhere else when we were "home". The place was generally pretty clean when we got there. But not nice hotel clean. There were some cig butts in the gutter off of the terrace which was kind of a put off. You could tell the place could use a little dusting. Not a huge deal, but these details are important when you come over 3,000 miles to stay in a place for over a week. The bathroom however, even though it was clean (except for the exhaust fan, which was caked with dust) had this odor like a sewer line had broken. It literally made us gag one day. We kept the door closed most of the time we were there. I guess that's kind of a biggie. We didn't mention it until the last day we were there since we were out and about enjoying the beautiful city most of the time. Also, management was not very prompt returning emails. All that being said, all these things can be easily fixed and should be because it's not especially cheap to stay here. Still, it's a cool place to stay. Great restaurants literally a few steps away from each side of the entrance, close to the river, close to markets and a great wine shop just across the street. Did I mention the location and the view?
- Verified traveler (6/5): Location great/ apartment ok - Excellent location few mins walk from Porto riverside and 5 mins walk from Sao Bento train station. Very easy check in via door code and key store, did not need to contact on call reception. Apartment is reasonably equipped( coffee maker, kettle, glasses, cups although no sign of plates or bowls?? ). We ate out for the 3 days so did not cook. Bedrooms comfortable if a little sparse. Couple of issues - smell from drains in bathroom and noisy neighbours ( at 3am in morn!) . We were maybe unlucky. Overall a good place to stay for a couple of nights due to location but not if you want to cook in.We booked quite last minute and maybe this is why it was still available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location. Modern , clean & comfortable.
Could be improved with bedroom mirror, tea towels & extra plug point in kitchen.
- Douglas (10/5): Beautiful Porto - A beautiful room in an amazing location!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location. Perfect size for a few day visit. Unfortunately the electric plugs in the leaving room and bathroom along with the stovetop were not working. Someone came the next day to fix them.
Great place at a great city
- Karen (10/5): - The apartment was in a perfect location for walking and exploring Porto. Staff were very helpful and even came to the apartment at 3am when we found ourselves locked out and had some trouble with the key. Highly recommend.
- Danie (6/5): Good n bad - We stayed in apartment 3 which was advertised as to have 2 single beds. It did not instead it was 1 single with a pull out mattress which was like sleeping on the floor. The refrigerator had no chill to it at all which didn't go down well. Apart from that location added to a fantastic trip in Porto
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a great stay... - The location was brilliant but the apartment was very tired and dirty. The crockery wasn’t clean, everything was quite dusty and all the linens were thin and old. There were no toiletries in the bathroom - not even soap and rather than the bowl of fruit that is pictured, there were just two packets of crackers and some sugar left on the side.
We were pretty disappointed for the price - especially considering so many other options in Porto,
- B (8/5): - Good location. Check in was brutal. Had th get the real estate agent next door to call the company to let us in.
- Ed (10/5): - This is not a hotel, but a vacation apartment that is rented by the night. There is no front desk or anything else hotel like, so there is no way to leave your luggage if you have a later flight. Saying that, I had the studio on the first floor, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Fully furnished and equipped, with a stove, fridge, etc. Best part is the fantastic view with floor to ceiling windows. The bed faces the windows for a nice surprise when you wake up. Small balcony for fresh air. Great location that gives you access to pretty much anything you would want to do in Porto. Absolute steal for the price I paid.
- Nancy (10/5): - Location is outstanding and apartment is very spacious and clean. Would highly recommend.
- Pamela (10/5): Great stay - Great location ,every thing you want for a stay .Washer/dryer,kitchen ,balcony over looking city.Bed comfort great sitting area.Close and walking distance to every where.
- Dave (10/5): - Beautiful place in a great location. Check in and check out was a breeze. Really close to the sao bento train station and the water front and pont Luís 1.
- Nancy (10/5): - Excellent apartment - very clean and comfortable. Perfect location!
- Ines (10/5): - Beautiful apartment, fully furnished, BEST location and the view from the balcony was priceless!
- James (10/5): Porto Getaway - Very convenient, easy to access, just outside of no-car zone. Clean and neat efficiency apartment.
- Liz (10/5): Contemporary spacious flat - Lovely, hot outside but cool in the flat. Easy to find, parking close- just need to take ticket straight away to the office in the carpark to pay in advance for the 24 hours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location for sightseeing and eating out. Modern, light and everything for a short/long stay. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
- Rudolf (10/5): - Well situated, as it walking distance from many of the restaurants and landmarks that you'd be venturing out to daily. The morning view you get as you drink your coffee on the terrace, makes it worth the trip and stay.
The space is small, but very well layed out, efficient and comfortable.
