As someone working in the hospitality industry as well, I think the breakfast offering should be improved, so it would be worth the price payed. There were no cucumbers or tomatoes served which is surely not a big expense for the hotel. All in all improving a breakfast experience is what I recommend management to consider since it takes great part in a final impression before check out.

Check-in was smooth, and within minutes I was settling into a room that exceeded expectations. Clean, thoughtfully arranged, and refreshingly शांत (peaceful), it offered the perfect retreat from the city’s lively rhythm. What truly sets this hotel apart is its attention to detail. Housekeeping maintained impeccable standards each day, ensuring the room always felt fresh and inviting. The bed was incredibly comfortable—arguably one of the best I’ve experienced while traveling—and the air conditioning provided a cool sanctuary from Dar es Salaam’s tropical warmth. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, offering a satisfying variety that catered to both local tastes and international preferences. Everything was prepared with care, and the quality was consistently excellent. It was the perfect way to start each day before heading out to explore. Location-wise, the hotel is ideally positioned. It provided convenient access to key parts of the city, making it easy to move around whether for business or leisure. Despite being well-situated, the hotel itself maintained a calm and relaxed ambiance—a rare and valuable balance. What lingered most, however, was the service. Alles ist fußläufig erreichbar - Supermarkt, Restaurants etc. Die Hotelzimmer sind einfach, aber vollkommen ausreichend ausgestattet. Die Betten waren sehr bequem für Tansania Verhältnisse und endlich eine richtige Dusche. Im Zimmer gibt es eine Klima die den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm macht. Die Dachterasse ist vor allem abends wirklich wunderschön. Absolutes Highlight gewesen. Wir haben uns zu jeder Zeit Willkommen gefühlt vom Personal. Sehr zuvorkommend, höflich und hilfsbereit. - Das Frühstück ist sehr einfach gehalten. Wenig Auswahl. - Das „Restaurant“ für Speisen Abends ist preislich super, aber an jedem Tag hatten wir das Problem, dass es beinahe alle Gerichte nicht gab von der Karte - Das W-lan ist auf dem Zimmer (3. OG) nicht nutzbar und sehr langsam. Nur in der Lobby hat man relativ gutes W-LAN. Schade wenn man im Zimmer ein bisschen abschalten möchte.

We also ate tasty meals at the hotel restaurant and breakfast was included in our booking. There is also a rooftop space where you can view the cityscape. To or from the airport and to get around the city, you can use Bolt app as Uber doesn't seem to work.

Order your dinner very early. - Convenient location for getting to the train station easily, although difficult to unload from the taxi on the side of a busy road. The breakfast was good, on time, and catered to a variety of palates. The evening meal food was ok, but took much much longer than we were told (We know food in Tanzania usually takes a long time and were prepared for that. But we were told 25 minutes, so waited in the restaurant, but it was over an hour. We would have gone back to our room to unpack etc. had we been advised more accurately).

Getting around was easy using the Bolt app. We stayed in a 2-bedroom spacious apartment (902), which has two ensuite bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, and a dining area. The beds are comfortable, it was quiet inside with great city views. Breakfast was good, and we appreciated the staff storing our luggage at the end of our stay. I would return & recommend. The staff were very friendly & helpful. This was my 3rd stay at Chelsea, twice this year. Easy to get taxi & Bajaji/Tuktuk. I haven't thought much about this. I'm not fussy. I was glad I got a good room at short notice close to my contacts in that part of Dar & to the Station to take the train to Morogoro to meet friends & the port for taking a boat to Zanzibar on vacation.

During our experience, phone calls went unanswered at times when assistance was needed, which can be challenging when traveling in a foreign country where reliable communication is important. Unfortunately, in our case, Chelsea Hotel did not provide the support we expected. During the election-related lockdown in Tanzania, all means of transportation (planes, trains, boats, and buses) were suspended, and the entire country experienced a complete Internet shutdown. As a result, my husband and I were unable to reach the property. Throughout the lockdown, we attempted to contact the property for four consecutive days using regular phone calls, but our calls were never answered. Given the extraordinary and uncontrollable circumstances, we expected at least a partial refund. Instead, the property has continued to ignore all subsequent attempts to reach them via email, phone, and Booking.

- john (6/5): Manque de professionnalisme dans la gestion client - L'accueil , la propreté Le manque de considération du manager vis-à-vis du client Nous avions effectué une réservation sans prêter attention à un détail important, ce qui a conduit à ce qu'une chambre à deux lits (twin beds) nous soit attribuée, alors que nous étions un couple. Le réceptionniste, très professionnel, nous a recommandé d'accepter la chambre pour la nuit, en nous assurant qu'un changement serait possible dès le lendemain matin. Cependant, le lendemain, la réception nous a informés qu’aucun changement n’était possible. Ayant souhaité parler au manager, ce dernier n’a pas daigné se présenter et a préféré nous envoyer un préposé, alors que nous pouvions clairement l’apercevoir dans son bureau situé juste derrière la réception. Une telle attitude manque de considération et nuit à l’expérience client.

The initial room I was allocated had a bad odor/stench and I asked if I could be moved to another room which they gladly did. The front office staff were able to communicate in English which eased communication especially in a country where Swahili is the language widely spoken by many. On return from Arusha, I booked the hotel for one night again but paid for a deluxe room and the room didn’t have the bad odor/ stench I experienced during the first stay. The hot water shower was refreshing and worked just fine. The air conditioner was also functional. The hygiene in the standard rooms could be improved. The standard rooms have a bad odor. The bed in both the standard rooms and deluxe rooms was hard. The towels and bed linen have done their time, and should be replaced. Traffic noise through out the whole night did not help for a tired traveler who needed a bit of rest

- SINA (8/5): - Sauberes Hotel mit 24 Stundenrezeption und hoteleigenem Restaurant Ich hatte als alleinreisende Frau einen Airportshuttle über das Hotel gebucht, da ich mitten in der Nacht angekommen bin und mir etwas unwohl war bei der Vorstellung spontan ein Taxi vom Flughafen zu nehmen. Leider ist der Shuttle nicht erschienen und ich habe nach einer Stunde Wartezeit entschieden doch ein Taxi zu nehmen.

- Sean (10/5): Affordable high standard hotel in the heart of the city - Very comfortable hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in central Dar es salaam ( plus very near to the train,bus and ferry) Good standard restaurant serving nutritious breakfasts and delicious Indian meals. Fantastic panoramic views from the rooftop patio. Very good value for money. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others. Everything was of a high standard

- Dan (10/5): Wonderful - On any journey the welcome you get is important and tbe Chelsea Hotel was exceptional in this regard. Greyson, Innocent, the duty manager, restaurant staff, including roof, were brilliant. The rooftop gives an extraordinary view over the city...The menu is one of the best I have experienced in Africa. Do yourself a favour and check in. Regards, Dan Everyrhing was excellent.
- Gwelema (6/5): An okay stay - The place is ideal if you want to be close to the ferry terminal, it took us a few minutes by car to get there, the breakfast was really great The bathroom tap was very hard to open, we saw 2 roaches in the room

- Inès (1/5): - Les gens de l’accueil sont plutôt sympathique et accueillant par contre le restaurant est une catastrophe j’ai commandé un sandwich avocado et poulet et on m’a bien ramené ma commande mais le pain était moisi il y avait de la moisissure vertes sur le pain. C’est inadmissible venant d’un restaurant d’un hôtel. Celui qui s’occupait du restaurant m’a tout simplement repris le plat car je leur ai signalé ce dégoût et il m’a tout simplement dit que le Chef cuisinier me referait un autre plat. Après cet incident je n’avais plus du tout confiance au chef pour re manger un plat de venant de lui. Je m’attendais plus tôt à un geste commerciale mais pas du tout. À la fin j’ai du coup quand même dû payer mais plat c’est qui est vraiment inadmissible. Bref je déconseille fortement cet hôtel pour l’hygiène très douteuse.

- Hugh (6/5): Good for business in Kariakoo area but not ideal for holiday stay - The staff is lovely and speaks English, and is also helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The location is very busy and noisy. This is an ideal place to stay when you only have business to do in the Kariakoo area but not for a holiday.

Tämä oli kolmas kerta tässä hotellissa, tulen myös seuraavalla kerralla tänne . Kaikesta pidin. Kattoterassi on upea , sitä kannattaisi mainostaa enemmän. Ehkä myös esim. coctail- lista houkuttaisi sinne enemmän väkeä. Ruokasali on aika pelkistetty, voisiko sen viihtyisyyttä jotenkin lisätä ?

- Sabah (5/5): Déçu et non commercial - L'hôtel est bien placé Je suis arrivé tard à l'hôtel, en parallèle je l'avais indiqué par message sur Booking et en arrivant à l'hôtel on m'a indiqué d'attendre jusqu'à 6h du matin pour faire le check-in et ensuite on ma indiqué qu'il fallait payer un surplus, car la chambre était libre qu'à partir de 13h 30. La réceptionniste a demandé aux managers un effort et aucun effort a été fait, j'ai dû payer le surplus quelle honte, fatigué avec un vol de 15h la moindre des choses aurait dû être la transparence lors des échanges sur Booking.. Dans la chambre le coffre-fort ne fonctionnait pas, même pas des verres à disposition afin de prendre ses médicaments, petit-déjeuner médiocre produit industriels et non frais, resté 3 jours et le même tous les matins.... Sur les photos booking ,c'est indiqué une terrasse, photo mensongère . Dans la chambre aucune fenêtre ouverte il y a des grillages, comme une cellule d'un prisonnier .... Salle de bain correcte mais la tuyauterie est à revoir rouillé. Le personnel sympathique mais pas très avenant.
