- JUDITH (1/5): Never use that hotel again. - Nothing Property was tired. Checked in at the bar with very load music. Difficult to hear the member of staff. When we wanted a shower at about 9pm there was no hot water. Couldn't be bothered to get dressed and complain as reception was in the noisy bar. Couldn't wait to check out in the morning.

Looking very dated but a revamp would result in higher prices that may not be competitive in the area. Bar was not very busy unlike previous years.

- gerry (3/5): Don't go there! - The price was reasonable, and the staff were pleasant enough. Room carpet dirty, sink cracked, no lift, no hooks to hang clothes, shower pressure marginally above a drip, 3 wardrobe hangers, Thread bear carpets in hallways, bed could do with a new mattress, the room size was, in my opinion, more suited to a single room, overall a thoroughly unpleasant stay, never again.

Friendly polite staff. Plenty of parking. Nice hot shower. Very comfortable bed . Best nights sleep in months. Landing and stairs could have been cleaner. Lots of scuff marks especially on outside of bedroom boor where people had kicked it to open it. 3 inch gap at the bottom of the fire door on landing. No good in a fire. No brown bread at breakfast . Coffee was weak .

Music way to loud reception when booking in he couldn't hear us and vice versa, shouting at each other was ridiculous. Couldn't find our booking couldn't understand us and we're Scottish but the music didn't help. Sat down for drinks and dinner and had to shout to each other (3 of us) and we still couldn't hear. Shower in two of the rooms had no water pressure so the water trickled out.
- Julia (5/5): Dated hotel catering to groups. Probably overpriced for what it is. - Good location in the centre of Dingwall. Very dated. Tried to call and email to change arrival time, neither acknowledged. Bed only partially made up, had to request pillowcases. Very tired decor throughout. Carpet looked like it hadn’t been hoovered for a while. Pigeons nesting in roof caused a lot of noise. Other guests very noisey unfortunately but the hotel couldn’t blamed for this.

- Hartmut (4/5): Nicht das bekommen, was wir gebucht und bezahlt hatten - Wegen der Lage in Dingwall hatten wir das National Hotel als Stützpunkt ausgesucht und waren im Verlauf unserer Schottlandreise insgesamt drei mal dort. Die nach unseren Erfahrungen wenig motivierten Mitarbeiter findet man eigentlich nur im Restaurant nebenan. Es gibt absolut keinerlei Informationen z. B. zu Frühstückszeiten usw. Alles muss einzeln nachgefragt werden. Beim unserem letzten Frühstück an einem Sonntag waren wir davon ausgegangen, dass das auch zur selben Zeit wie an den anderen Tagen möglich ist. Aber erst um 08;20 tauchte ein Mitarbeiter auf, um den Frühstücksraum zu öffnen, in den sofort etwa 35 Personen strömten. Es gab keine Teller, die Toaster brauchten endlos, von allem war zu wenig da und es herrschte ein furchtbares Chaos. Unsere negativste Erfahrung war aber, das wir bei unseren ersten beiden Übernachtungen nicht das gebuchte (und bezahlte) Komfort-Zimmer bekommen haben. Wir wurden in einem winzigen Raum untergebracht. Eine Zelle in einem Gefängnis seiner Majestät ist sicher größer! Neben dem Doppelbett mit extrem durchgelegener Matratze, gab es zu beiden Seiten keine Fußbreit Platz. Das winzige hoch angebrachte Fenster über dem Bett war nicht erreichbar, um es zu öffnen. Es gab noch nicht einmal einen Stuhl oder Hocker und für die Garderobe gab es eine Art Verschlag. Unsere Reklamation beim Check In bei unserem zweiten Aufenthalt wurde damit abgetan, dass das von uns gebuchte Zimmer bereits belegt sei. Es gab weder eine Entschuldigung noch eine Entschädigung. Wir hätten uns schon über ein Bier nebenan gefreut. Es wurde lediglich zugesichert, dass wir bei unserer letzten Übernachtung dann das gewünschte Zimmer bekommen würde, Das war dann um Klassen besser, auch wenn sich die großen Fenstertüren nicht öffnen ließen. Dass es im Restaurant nichts zu essen gab, war dann schon Nebensache. Ein paar Schritte entfernt gibt es aber ein indisches Restaurant mit sehr guter Küche.

Felt embarrassed that foreign visitors get a poor impression of Scotland - Restaurant attached to the hotel was nice, evening meal well cooked, attractively presented and well priced. Breakfast was adequate. Good location The whole place had an air of shabbiness. The double room we were provided with was A) very tired looking with a decidedly grubby carpet B) was actually a single sized room, with a double bed pushed against the wall to allow space for a single bedside cabinet with a single lamp and a single chair C) room was located at the back of the hotel above the back door to the restaurant and the bins. This meant the window had to remain tightly closed to prevent noise and fly infestation. I did ask a member if staff if we could be allocated another room , explaining that as older people, having to try to clamber over one another to get out of bed was not easy, however was informed that the hotel was full.

- William (6/5): Good for a short term stay in Dingwall. - Location was absolutely perfect. We were staying for football and there was plenty of parking at the hotel with a 5 minute walk to the football stadium. Bar had friendly staff and a good selection of drinks after the game. Beds, bed lined and towels were clean. Amazing value for money and close to lots of nice bars and cafes. Some areas could do with renovation. Bed frames were a bit creaky and furniture was a little bit dated but no major issues.

Hotellilla lukee, että sisäänkirjautuminen on klo 20 saakka, mikä ei onneksi pitänyt paikkaansa ja pääsimme kirjautumaan klo 21. Yritin olla hotelliin yhteydessä saadakseni vastauksen onnistuuko myöhäisempi sisäänkirjautuminen, mutta kukaan ei vastannut minulle.

- Erin (9/5): Excellent value for money, very friendly and accommodating. - Staying at this family-run business was a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, we felt very welcome from the minute we arrived. The (deluxe double) room was spacious and scrupulously clean. Probably the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The bath was huge and despite some less than modern bathroom decor, it felt quite luxurious. There was a separate power shower, too. Very comfy bed, also. We requested a last-minute late check out and instead of making us feel like an inconvenience, we were made to feel very welcome once again. The customer service here is exceptional. I cannot recommend this lovely hotel enough. It’s the best value for money I’ve ever felt I’ve had in a hotel.
- Stewart (7/5): At the prices this is a bargain stay, middle of the town centre so plenty of shops and restaurants - Had booked for a few days and was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews. I have to admit at £41 per night it was a bargain. Its true its a little tired looking, but nothing like some of the reviews suggested and my room was clean and tidy and had everything I need for the two nights I was staying. The staff were also very pleasant and happy to chat, I had the steak pie which was lovely and at very reasonable prices. It was clear the community used this hotel for local gatherings and thats to be commended. Would definitely stay again. The bed was a little creaky and the shower wasnt as warm as I like, but that's a personal preference.

The Continental breakfast was lacking variety. In order to minimise waste, consider pre-order.
