Guest Reviews
- Shirley (8/5): Lovely Real Ale Pub. With Hobson's Real Ale. - Location for walking into Ironbridge.
Clean room with plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the room.
Real ale on. Hobson's was really good. The Hobson's mild was excellent. No dessert menu. Only do dessert on a Sunday!
Shower tray water didn't drain away. Mentioned to the landlady. She said she would get someone to check it out.
- Tim (10/5): Cracking good pub. - Great pub atmosphere, friendly staff
- Frederick (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. - The staff were fine and the breakfast was up to our expectations. Not realising the management changed that day.
- owen (10/5): - Second time stay very Friendly clean great breakfast will be visiting again Low doorway from accommodation area but it is an old building so shouldn't grumble
- Mandy (9/5): -
- Brian Jones (10/5): I will return to this inn at any time i need to visit the area - Perfect location for visiting Ironbridge and Telford, Very nice clean and tidy room with view over river. Had both breakfast and evening meal at ye old Robin hood and the food was excellent plenty of choice and well cooked and presented. As a ex long distance coach driver I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in this country and abroad and the Robin hood could give some of them a run for their money. As I say excellent all over. Outside steps very high and steep. Anyone with a walking disability would have a problem.
- David (9/5): had a great time thanks - great location
great food and beer nothing
- Roger (9/5): Clean, Good value and super staff. - All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Shout out for our breakfast lady Ailsa?? really put us at ease. Nothing adverse comes to mind.
- Craig (9/5): Really friendly staff , beautiful breakfast and the room was spotlessly clean Thankyou Isla for all your help -
- Rachel (7/5): Lovely - Very friendly staff. Room was nice and clean but a funny smell. Also 3 big flies I had to kill which wasn’t nice but hey. The flies
- Tjaart (8/5): -
- Gareth (10/5): - Recently refurbished, the Robin Hood's rooms are clean, modern and very comfortable. Great selection of meals and drinks. Staff are wonderful, going over and above to make the inn as welcoming as possible. Ideal location for touring the area or just to take time away. The steps up to the rooms are the only way, not easy for disability access. However, this is an old building, that should be taken into consideration when booking.
- Bernard (10/5): Loved our stay here. - Breakfast brilliant, staff great Nothing
- francis (1/5): Hetic, with having to unpack and pack and repeat, also stopped us spending day with family - Everything was as expected. We have stayed there before which is why we went back and being able to eat in the pub and then just go upstairs to the room was great. The problem we had was that the next morning after one night there we were told we had to leave the premises due to the fire insurance. They couldnt have anyone staying in the rooms. They found us another place but only B&B so we had to travel for meals and drinks. It was ok but not the standard of the robin hood
- Lee (8/5): Great B&B at a great location - As a walker this location was great - I was able to park the car only having to use it again when leaving
Fantastic location within easy walking distance of Ironbridge (10-15 minutes)
It has its own car park, this was important for me.
Check-in was quick, young man offered to carry my case and showed me to my room (Sherwood)
Room was
Large flat screen TV in the room
Complementary hospitality tray in the room was stocked as you would expect, and complementary toiletries provided.
It was quiet (but I was in a room to the rear of the building)
Breakfast was reasonable, with choice of a full English plus cereal and apple/orange juice, choice of tea/ coffee and the Scottish lady who served breakfast was very friendly and helpful and offered more toast to me if required.
A cafetière of coffee was provided and the offer of a refill was made on the second morning of my stay (it was not required as there was enough for a few cups)
(I did hear some other guests advise the cook that they would have to leave before 8.30 the next morning so would miss breakfast, the cook as they started earlier was able to accomodate them at an earlier time which I thought was excellent customer service)
!! I would return here !! I'm adding the following for balance to my review
The room was small, there was no chair and nowhere to sit apart from bed (but it had a bed and offered breakfast so what else would you expect)
Blind for window in room was on the window sill, there were curtains so caused me no issues
Breakfast was pre-order and available between 8.30-9.30, you had to give a time that you would be down. I did not feel that there would be sufficient time for any cold offering (if you so wanted) before the hot food arrived.
Bedside lamps on either side of the bed but no easy to access bedside plug socket to charge phone (there was a double socket at the foot of the bed that I used)
- Mark (1/5): Why was the booking allowed in the first place? Why wasn’t it cancelled sooner? - We found out it was closed to guests on the day of the booking when we rang them to check arrival. They then cancelled the booking and made an alternative reservation at an alternative hotel on our behalf which was more expensive and we were lucky there was anywhere nearby available at short notice.
- Bernard (10/5): - every think was good all
- Rebecca (10/5): Great solo stay - My room was nice and clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were super friendly and helpful during my stay. Breakfast was great too. I felt safe as a solo female traveller. Ample onsite parking next to the pub for customers. Around a 10 minute walk from the town centre.
The only negative for me was that there was a constant humming noise in my room during the day and evening, I think it was due the the extractor fans in the kitchen below. This was only an issue as I have noise sensitivity, most people would probably not even notice it. Also no hairdryer.
Overall, a wonderful stay, great value for money.
- Alison (6/5): -
- Mr Clifford (10/5): - Clean and refurbished. The staff were very friendly with an exceptional cooked breakfast.
- Andrew (10/5): Definitely stay there again. - The bedroom had had a recent refurbish. Brand new bathroom, beds and carpets. Breakfast, which was included in the price, was excellent. All the staff we had contact with were lovely too. Nothing at all.
- James (8/5): - Great location and just a short walk to the famous Iron Bridge .
Great staff which made the stay even better . Good food available from the bar .
Recommended stay
- Tracey (5/5): Got put in a twin room when we had booked a double when we complained Sophie said it was booking.com mistake and not her - Location Didn’t get the room we booked
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duncan (10/5): - Olde world charm, the staff were very friendly, close enough to walk to the action in Longbridge would definitely use again but longer next time.
- Ian (10/5): Very good comfortable pub, well worth a stay. - Very well located for all the local attractions. Good freshly cooked all day breakfast was brilliant. The bed was very big and comfortable. Good selection of Holden's Real Ales that were well kept. Couldn't fault the accommodation or staff. Steps to the accommodation were a bit steep, but there again it is a 17th century building!!
- Daphne (9/5): D Neill - Lovely rooms Think the tv needs moving. Was not in a great position.
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant - Nice pub ,good beer Single beds too small
- Eddie (9/5): Superb - Really friendly, great location, clean and comfy. Great pub food One window handle needs repair. Food service stopped earlier than we expected on Sunday night..
- Julia (10/5): Cosy weekend away - Staff were really warm and welcoming throughout our staff. Room was gorgeous and perfect for our weekend away. Cracking cooked breakfast in the morning was the cherry on top for us
- James (9/5): Superb - Location, friendly, helpful staff and great local beer Nothing
- Andy (9/5): Superb - Staff all very friendly and helpful
Spotlessly clean
Breakfast cooked to order and was very good Not enough plugs in room. Had to unplug kettle to plug in hairdryer and there wasn't a mirror there to use
- Terence (8/5): - Nice comfortable convenient placw to stay.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Everything,staff were exceptional.Loved Ironbridge.
- Suzanne (10/5): - We had a lovely stay. Ironbridge is beautiful! The inn is slightly outside of the centre but a lovely walk in. We ate there for lunch on the first day and for both evening meals. The food was tasty and good value. Breakfast needed to be pre-booked the evening before and was served from 8.30 to 9.30. Overall, we would recommend.
- Gary (8/5): - Very close to the Ironbridge. Plenty of parking.
The bar has a good selection of drinks. Very nice breakfast and meal portions are very big, if you decide to dine there. Nice and friendly staff. A very nice short break.
- Ronald (9/5): Ideal spot and lovely 3 days. - The breakfast was lovely and loads of choice. The refurbishment was very good. The lady who served us breakfast was truly delightful Not enough storage in the bedroom.
- Harminder (9/5): Superb - Lovely B&B facilities. Location is A star. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending
- Rosslynn (8/5): Relaxed and comfortable. - The location was very central to the Ironbridge attractions and easy to find. The breakfast was plentiful and service friendly and accommodating.
- Sarah (4/5): Basic pub with rooms, ok for a quick breakfast & early drink. - Good dinner on first night (lamb shank). Great breakfast & the member of staff on duty (Isa) on the first morning. These are rooms over a pub which declares last orders at 9.30 in the evening so you're in bed well before 10 as there is nowhere else to go then. The rooms are clean but were only 'serviced' on an 'ad hoc' basis, they prefer to just ask you if you might need tea bags etc water at breakfast or if they are upstairs preparing a room for change over & they see you. Although staff are friendly, it seems they just don't want to spend much time on your needs. These are just rooms above a pub accessed from the outside via steep steps. Pub closes as early as possible & you get the feeling they don't want you there. It's last orders & 'cashed up' by 9.30 p.m. It's a minimum no frills service. Your breakfast drinks are ready & cooling on your table by your requested time, so don't be late & don't expect a refill! Suggest eat in The Black Swan over the river in the evening & if you want a drink after 9.30 p.m. bring some with you to have in your room!
- Rosemary (8/5): Very good - Good breakfast and lovely spacious room overlooking the river Went to get something to eat at 4pm on Sunday but told the food had all gone although we had checked in the morning that the kitchen was open until 5pm
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Dry helpful and friendly staff. A beautiful location.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Staff very friendly and helpful
- Latham (7/5): Good -
- Dawn (7/5): Disgruntled customer.. - The room was comfortable apart from the lack of cupboard or draw space. We were asked to pre booked bfast the night prior by the bar staff, as we had an early start the next day this was ideal.. the earliest time was 8.30.
We arrived down stairs at 8.30 to 4 tables 2 already occupied, we were offered refreshments then waited some 20 mins before the 1st table was served.. I asked the chef if she knew how long it would be as we were on a tight deadline. She snapped back she was on her own and everyone had changed their orders..she then disappeared back in to the kitchen to re appear 15 mins later with scrambled egg on toast for another table.. as we didn't have time I thought I'd just pop my head around the edge of the bar to say not to cook our bfast as we didn't have time.. unfortunately the level of customer service received was not what i was expecting.. not listening to the customer the chef shouted, get out of my kitchen and your not allowed behind the bar.. if she'd have been more proactive with explaining the issues (bring on her own etc) with her customers there wouldn't have been any need for me to cancel my bfast.. I found the level of customer service very poor and unsatisfactoty I will not be recommending or staying at this Inn again. As for the chef, she arrived at work at 7 30 and with only 4 tables to serve should have had all the bfast out within 30 mins.. enough said we were not happy, so didn't even both attending breakfast on Sunday.
- Ernest (7/5): Meals at pub were very good and would recommend to everyone - Breakfast was very good and the lady that was serving wa so cheerful and pleasant to us hope you all liked the key rings my husband left behind xx We came back after a walk in the town and found the pub shut at 10.00 pm
- Simon (8/5): - Room was a good size. Nice ensuite. Overall nice room. Hosts pleasant. Good breakfast.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Eleanor (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff and lovely clean room. I would definitely visit again x x
- Keith (8/5): Very nice. - Harry behind the bar lovely.
- Dene (8/5): Very good -
- Gian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): - Great for walking around Ironbridge area
- Sylvia (10/5): The room was spotless excellent breakfast - Breakfast and location was perfect Nothing
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Room was excellent, just newly decorated and really lovely. Short walk into town. Staff very friendly.
- Hilton (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christine (10/5): - Very friendly staff who suggested a good place to eat while they didn't serve food on Monday and Tuesday. Lovely walks around and surprisingly quiet. New decor in the bedroom was very nice.
- Sheena (9/5): Superb - Brilliant breakfast. Near enough to town but gentle walk far enough to get away from main tourist area. Staff exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Only criticism would be we were given room at the back of building with view of a wall.Even though rooms at front overlooking river were vacant.
- Kj (9/5): Comfy & cosy - The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
We were made to feel very much at home. No options as to the cooked breakfast, could have offered poached or scrambled eggs, no breakfast menu....
- David (6/5): Visit was to see mother-in-law for Christmas. Blist Victorian Museum worth the visit. - The breakfast was fine [would have preferred the endless 70's music tape was not on]. Room was warm and clean. We chose the place because we wanted twin beds. Unfortunately we were over the bar and music was thumping through our room. At 10.00 pm I went down to the bar to find the door bolted. Saw the Bar Guy and knocked on window. Asked him to turn off music he was surprised it was on !!!!.
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Good value for money. Room had separate access from the pub which meant we had very little noise from the bars. The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again if we're in the area.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (8/5): A good night near Ironbridge - Breakfast very good and well served, nice view of the gorge . Evening meal 👍. The local ( very picturesque) town of Ironbridge was close and worth a visit , drive easier, walk best be fit though and on warm evening. Ah, not keen on rooms outside the main building .
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (7/5): Good -
- Erika (6/5): Convenient location, just don’t expect mod cons, heating or a cosy evening in pub downstairs. - Good location just outside Ironbridge with its own carpark.
The Scottish lady who did breakfast was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Beds, bathroom all very old and dated, mattress had seen better days.
Being above a pub we hoped to be able to sit there with a drink in the evening. First night that was fine, but 2nd night the pub was locked into our faces at 9:30pm. Weren’t even allowed to buy a bottle of wine to take upstairs.
Heating was full on first evening. 2nd evening/night there was no heating.
- Owen (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay, little late arriving due to traffic but staff were great. Food and Frink was excellent will be booking another stay soon
- Diane (10/5): The staff was amazing. Had a great laugh with them and another couple that we had never met before. - Couldn't have eaten anymore. Fabulous N/A
- Sheron (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Noisy water pipes in middle of the night.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location, all very convenient. Good food, comfortable accommodation, friendly staff. Would highly recommend
- sue (8/5): - Lovely room but the place is a little tired. Our little Glaswegian breakfast girl was a joy. Breakfast was good too
- Dawson (7/5): Good value - Nice room. Good parking.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Tessa (10/5): Great stay, great value for money, we’d definitely stay again. - Very friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Great food, evening meals and fantastic breakfast! Relaxed pub atmosphere with good selection of real ales. Nice additional touches - biscuits and hot chocolate sachets in room, toiletries in bathroom. Lovely location, easy walk to the Ironbridge, museums and local shops. Lots of parking, another bonus. Felt it was really good value for money. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely couple of days. Bedroom was over the bar, so could be a bit noisy at times. However, this is emphasised in the particulars beforehand, so you know in advance. It didn’t bother us at all and it was good to find a pub that is obviously popular with locals and tourists alike.
- Korina (10/5): Would definitely come again - Rooms and beds were immaculate. Staff lovely. Service good and very friendly
- Wendy (8/5): Brilliant night sleep and good location - The breakfast and a very good night sleep
- Janet (7/5): More positive than negative - This is a traditional pub with only 3 rooms that it handles as a B & B. Our room was clean. It was pretty tight though with nowhere to sit but the bed unless you count a chair located in the bathroom.
The pub was pleasant, with a good selection of drinks.
Parking was easy, convenient, and free.
Staff was friendly.
The full English breakfast was good.
It was quiet.
Walked to the Iron bridge and the stores near it. Short drive to some of the museums. Access to the rooms was up a wet cement staircase with a high top step. It was challenging when carrying luggage.
Site advertised food service with several starters and mains on the menu. Almost everything was unavailable. We settled on two items that were not our first choices. They were fine.
- Denise (6/5): - The website says booking in from 3 - 11pm. I got to the pub at 8.45 and they were closing the pub for the evening. I didn't expect the kitchen to be open but I did expect to be able to have a drink. I was shown directly to my room with 2 packs of crisps and two small bottles of wine. Not what I expected from booking a pub at all
- Kevin (2/5): Rude manager & room not serviced for 2nd night. - The television fell off the wall the first night I reported it at breakfast when I got back for my second night my room hadn’t been serviced and no tv put back. I complained to manager she said ‘we aren’t your slaves’,and wouldn’t give me her name.I was disgusted and left immediately for another hotel in Telford.I have never been treated in that manner ever by anyone in the hotel business. She should not be on your books at all.Robin Hood Inn near Much Wenlock Telford on 13th & 14th September 2024
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - A very friendly Pub in a great location just 10 minutes walk to the famous Iron Bridge. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Pub closed about 9.00 PM because it was only me left in the Pub now.
I took drinks back to my Room and watched the TV.
- Irene (7/5): Comfortable stay, pity the staff weren't friend.y - Lady at breakfast was lovely. Check in no one welcomed us. Stated we had booked a room. Asked name. Thought someone was getting it. We stood there like lemons. Young teenage girl behind the bar who had heard what we said. Looked at us and said ' I'm still standing here smiling' Told her we were waiting for our key
- Gareth (10/5): A great place to stay. - Staff were fantastic and make everyone welcome. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent and with plenty of choice. Ideal location for exploring the area. A great place, we will be back!
- Paul (6/5): Ideal for a quaint stay in Telford - The rooms are a little dated, but overall they were comfortable with very nice beds. As the rooms are distinct from the pub it makes access easy, which is great if you're coming back late from somewhere.
Evening meals were ok with a varied selection of good pub grub, but the kitchen shut by 7.30pm for us,, so check before you travel to see what time last meals are served.
The breakfast is fine with Izy cooking and serving a joy and very helpful. Enjoyed the Latte :0) Having arrived late from a long journey it wasn't helpful to find that they were closing the bar at 9pm. it wasn't as if there were only 2 of us as we were a party of 7. That was the only sour part of an enjoyable stay.
- Janet (8/5): - Had a great stay, food delicious. Room good. Staff very friendly
- Hazel (9/5): Superb - Ideal for our needs, a lovely stop off that broke our trip to North Wales, sadly the pub closed early, would have been nice to have a drink after a long journey from Kent, however the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was was good, the staff was very friendly and helpful
- Phil (8/5): - The Inn was easily close to the ironbridge and museums. The room was excellent and so were the staff.
- Gareth (8/5): - Pub with rooms
- Liz (9/5): Good location ,value for money. - Sat eve meal was great/ breakfasts were what you wanted.good food. Nothing was a disappointment
- Allison (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (10/5): Relaxing - Lovely, comfortable room. Tasty breakfast. Loved the atmosphere in the pub and they served lovely beer Nothing
- Jon (8/5): - Slept like a baby very comfy bed room 3 didn’t have a remote for tv asked at bar but couldn’t find one missed evening meal when in bar at 19:45 so had to dine out breakfast started at 8:30 so was a push as was away working but very nice
- Debbie (9/5): very enjoyabe - had a very enjoyable stay, location was spot on for us. breakfast was lovely and so were all the staff. would stay here again. nothing
- John (8/5): Very good - Good car park, very important for Ironbridge. Access to bedrooms is external, up some uneven steps.
