Guest Reviews
- Shannon (9/5): Perfect accommodation for a short stay - The room was spotless and had lots of useful touches such as bottled water, tea and coffee, hair dryer and straighteners. The bed and pillows were comfy. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great. The room was very warm but there was a fan which adequately solved the problem
- NA (9/5): Hard working staff who enabled us to have a very related stay. - Lots of choice and very freshly cooked.
- Yellowleader (10/5): Great stop over - Lovely room, great bar and restaurant
- Jean (9/5): Great pub with rooms, close to Shuttleworth. - Excellent food. Really friendly staff. Good size room that is well equipped. Close to the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden Airfield. Nothing
- Alli (8/5): Lovely pub stay and very excellent food and service. - Lovely room, very clean and very nice pub. Fantastic breakfast and excellent friendly staff. Bed was too firm even for me but a minor detail. Obviously it’s a pub so there was some noise in the evening and more so because the accommodation is in a building in the pub garden. But it don’t bother us - only saying to make people aware it’s not rooms above the pub as one might expect.
- Burnett (7/5): - Lovely room and excellent service. Comfy bed and nice bathroom. Noise on Friday night as sunny, so lots of people drinking outside until late.
- Cornelia (8/5): -
- Susiewoosie (10/5): - Very nice room with tea & coffee making facilities. Good sized room. Helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent.
- Penny (9/5): A sad occasion for our stay made easier by staying in this lovely gastro pub - Room decor

- Sarah (9/5): Good location, nice food and friendly staff. - Fantastic breakfast and lovely dinners, great staff and a pleasant lively environment. The room was very comfortable and there was plenty of parking. The wifi was poor in the evenings making the internet TV difficult to watch, but this did not spoil what was a pleasant stay in a nice environment with friendly staff.
- Graham Robert (10/5): Excellent service, very natural and helpful staff with good food. We loved pur stay and will definitely be back. - The pub/restaurant was welcoming as soon as we walked in. Once booked in which took a matter of seconds we were shown to our accommodation which was spotless. Nothing I could put a finger on.
- Steve (9/5): Excellent staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Excellent quality food - Lovely pub nice room Cold water kept running hot. No water pressure in shower
- Ann (8/5): Short stay in Henlow - Convenient location, spacious room & bathroom, comfortable bed, good heating, restaurant, good choice at breakfast, safe & fidge Breakfast food was good but service was slow to very slow
- Geoffrey (8/5): Well worth it. - Both very good Shower was not very warm or have muchpower
- Adela (9/5): -
- Julia (6/5): Good stay but faced some challenges - The property looked lovely. Well designed and presented The room was well sized and the facilities were good. The shower room looked great but the shower took some working out. As soon as the shower went on, even with the screen in place everything got soaked even the towels which were placed under the sink. Also the floor was so slippery, my partner fell over in the shower. The room was very warm and even with the fan, was stifling. We couldn’t open the windows because the beer garden was right outside. The breakfast wasn’t great the first day. Sausage skins were tough and the sour dough bread toast inedibly tough. Only one cup of coffee was offered. You couldn’t fault the service though. Fast and efficient. Don’t get me wrong. This was a good place to stay but style over substance was the rooms theme.
- John (9/5): Exceeded expectations - Delicious and served by a very nice young woman.
- Christine (8/5): Just what we hoped for. Staff delightful and friendly. - Convenient for visiting family. Rooms close to beer garden. Although quietened down when pub closed.

- Terence (10/5): -
- Webster (9/5): -
- Lorrain (9/5): Nothing too much trouble staff excellent. - Food always excellent.
Rooms have everything you need. Bathroom a bit tired so needs a bit of attention.
- Yvonne (9/5): -
- Arve (9/5): Very nice and helpful staff. Restaurant with OK menu; I was satisfied with the dinner ordered/served - Very nice and helpful staff. When I said that I had to check out at 08.00, they asked me if they could prepare a breakfast to be delivered at my room; and so they did. Very good service! Breakfast may be served from 07.00 (08.00 was too late: Had to leave before breakfast)
- Valerie (10/5): An excellent place to stay - Room had everything you might need. Decor very attractive. All spotless. Breakfast choices great and had two evening meals also excellent. Would recommend.
- Digby (10/5): Excellent - All the staff were very kind and helpful The rooms were very nice, the bed very comfortable and you had everything you needed.

- Emily (10/5): Hidden gem- don’t miss it - Beautifully kitted out comfortable room with the most thoughtful touches- even fresh milk for tea!
Friendly kind staff- fantastic breakfast- beautiful bed linens- it was honestly one of the most lovely bnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. Nothing! It was all fab!

- Irna (10/5): Memorable and unforgettable, I’ll be back. - The breakfast and the dinner were perfectly cooked and served. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, and will certainly return Nothing at all, from the moment I checked in till the next day when I checked out, I couldn’t fault a thing. My son and daughter who live locally join ed me for dinner and breakfast., and agreed that they’ll certainly be booking in for dinner.
- Alistair (9/5): -
- richard (9/5): -
- Giles (10/5): Excellent stay with award winning breakfast. - We requested early check in which was no problem at all. The staff were friendly from the moment we checked in, to the following morning when we were served an excellent breakfast, which apparently has won awards. It was clear to see why.
I could not fault the stay and would return without hesitation.
- Frank (10/5): -
- Ken (9/5): Warm and comfortable with staff to match - Very comfortable and warm, plenty of parking. Well appointed bathroom and bedroom with a large smart tv. Excellent bars with a good choice of beers, ales and lagers. There is a large covered seating area outside with excellent heaters. We sat outside one evening in January and did not need a coat. Although we did not eat here in the evening all guests told us that the food was very good. The staff throughout were very good. The breakfast was a little disappointing in that no butter or marmalade was available so the toast served with the eggs was very dry. The bacon and eggs were overcooked but the rest was very good. The overall standards were high throughout so we think was an aberration and not usual. (We certainly would try another breakfast here, do not let this put you off.)
- CHRIS (10/5): Great - Wonderful freshly cooked breakfast.
Directors on tap Kettle needed in room
Dining room to open on Sunday evenings
- Edward (10/5): Great pub with rooms. - Comfortable room with good facilities. Sunday lunch was great as was breakfast. Nothing
- heather (9/5): very happy and would definitely recommend this for a short stay - very friendly and attentive staff good amenities the room was a little warm though the fan was a welcome addition
- Mark (9/5): -
- Elaine (10/5): Very enjoyable - We couldn’t fault the staff they were exceptional the food was amazing the whole stay was very good could not fault anything. Nothing it was all good
- Claire (7/5): - The staff were very polite and helpful, and the room was beautifully decorated with nice little finishing touches. It was nice to have a coffee machine and fridge. As it was a work trip I was leaving too early to have breakfast but the staff bought me a hamper across with continental items each night. Lots of free parking, and the pub is in a nice quiet area. I honestly can't fault the decoration and cleanliness of the room, and helpfulness of the staff. There was one thing that made this stay uncomfortable unfortunately. The room (no.1) is in an outside annex so gets cold quickly once the heating goes off overnight. The first night it was -4 out and it was so cold I couldn't sleep, especially with the thin summer duvet provided. I was fully dressed in bed with a woolly hat and coat on, and heating didn't come back on until 7am which made getting ready for work and showering very uncomfortable.
I raised the issue and was told that the heating stays on constantly and shouldn't be going off, but it continued to go off. The staff very kindly left me a thick winter duvet which helped, but it's just such a strange decision to put the thinnest of duvets on and turn the heating off in a week where it was below freezing each night.
I promise I'm not one for complaining, it's a lovely place and the staff were great but I hardly slept a wink. Hopefully this was just a temporary problem as everything else was lovely and had it have been warm would have given it a 10 out of 10.
- Amanda (9/5): Great stay - Everything was to a high standard , the room, lovely quality towels , nice touches in the room, excellent food, breakfast had good selection and a good service , we were very impressed , would recommend and return Nothing
- SHARON (8/5): Lovely accommodation, friendly staff, good, service - Choice was excellent and nicely presented. Evening meal also very good. It is more of a restaurant menu than the typical pub one hence it is higher in cost. We do not usually eat in pubs as we do not eat fried and junk foods, this was a refreshing change.t The parts of this very old pub that have been restored are excellent but the carpets and chairs in the old part of the
Building around the newly refurbished bar are in great need of replacement. Local families with young children frequent the venue and would suggest that faux suede chairs are unsuitable and food stained and carpets have seen better days. Realised this is a huge financial undertaking but what has been achieved is going in the right direction.
- Nikki (10/5): -
- Ted O'Morchoe (10/5): Nice pub , comfortable room & a good dinner - Nice dinner and good breakfast Duvet was a bit thin and there was no extra blanket. It got quite cold in the middle of the night.
- Paul (8/5): - Very comfortable and staff very helpful dissapointed with the shower, given how well thought out the rest of the room facilities are would of expected a rainfall head
- Stuart (10/5): -
- caroline (10/5): - The room was absolutely lovely and the staff were so helpful! The food at the pub was also amazing.
Overall it was such great value for money, I couldn't fault it!
- Roseanne (10/5): This is our go to accommodation when we stay in the area as we know we will rest well 🥰 - Breakfast was very generous, with varied choices. Staff were extremely attentive to our particular needs. Disabled bathroom is one of the best I have seen. Door card didn’t always seem to work, but didn’t ultimately cause any problems.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- lee (9/5): -
- Jennette (6/5): It’s a shame regarding the meal as we probably won’t return next year when we all meet up - Clean and comfortable room and friendly staff Unfortunately evening meal very poor all 6 of us were disappointed and one meal had to be sent back
- Trevor (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Spectacular room. Great pub and Amazing staff. - The room was spectacular. Modern, large, warm and with fantastic facilities.
The pub itself was so nice. A Lovely open fire, friendly staff and great food,
Our included breakfast was amazing.
I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area, The Thai Green Curry with Buttermilk chicken that my wife had for her evening meal wasn't the best. Didn't have a lot of flavour and a big piece of breaded chicken searved with it really didn't go. It was quit dry too.
- Simon (8/5): Pleasant bar surroundings with nice staff, good food & nice room. Breakfast needs to start earlier. - Room was nice & the bar surroundings were pleasant for dinner. More than a little surprised to find breakfast didn't start until 0800 - on a weekday you'd expect that people often travel for work & therefore, you'd be able to get a sit-down breakfast before leaving. First time I've stayed in a B&B/hotel where breakfast on a weekday doesn't start around 0700. The continental breakfast was ok - but 2 packs of jam was a bit odd when there was nothing to spread it with & nothing to spread it on.
- Burnett (7/5): Very comfy - Large room and friendly staff Noise, setting up early Saturday morning for Christmas fair and disco both nights but as it's December, it is to be expected.
- Dee (9/5): A great stay with delicious food and comfortable room. - Great rooms, new, clean, well furnished! Very friendly staff. Good food.
- Linda (10/5): Quality, comfort and fabulous style. - Absolutely superb in every way - comfort, style, spacious and warm! (A cold spell in November so much appreciated).
Staff service excellent. Food VERY good.
DO NOT HESITATE to stay if the location is right for you.
Everything is very superior to similar accommodation of the same price.
We stayed 9 years ago and were delighted to find the quality and standards remain consistent.
Well done everyone and thank you. Nothing!
- chris (8/5): Lovely relaxing night stay. Food was lovely and great to see lots of gluten free options on the menu - Peaceful and quiet
- Philip (8/5): - Pub and room were very good and comfortable... just a bit pricy for a pub room, but location worked well for us.
- Liz (9/5): -
- lee (9/5): - Nice clean, big room. Bathroom floor gets very wet when in shower as it goes under the shower screens.
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Zoe (9/5): - Clean, comfortable and friendly Very expensive
- kathryn (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Give them a crown - The location was idea for us, the pub was awesome the food was really tasty, we would have had a dessert too but we were too full from starter and mains. The butter of the day was a new one on us but it was splendid and went down well. From the moment we entered the pub one staff member was outstanding 'Noam' he should be commended for his service and attitude, I did ask another staff member to thank him. The room was well laid out and spacious with great amenities and a well thought out wet room/toilet/shower. Well done for all staff members that we spoke to as well everyone was engaging and genuinely great. The floor in the room and wet room was a bit grubby in places but that's it
- Madeline (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Such a warm welcome to the property by a lovely team who went above and beyond to provide a lovely experience. The room itself was exactly as shown online, beautifully decorated and really cosy!
- Mace (10/5): - A decent sized room, comfy bed, and the food was great. Can definitely recommend the cheese board! Nothing
- Will (9/5): -
- Peter (10/5): All the staff were so friendly they made us feel so comfortable as if we were locals, which is what you want from a pub. - Friendly and welcoming staff made us feel immediately at home, the room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant both evenings as the food was excellent. The included breakfast was freshly cooked and great choice. Nothing
- Peter (8/5): - Staff were very good. The Sangria .
- RICHARD (9/5): - Service was fantastic Nothing
- Pauline (9/5): Exceptional clean and comfortable rooms bathroom/wet room brilliant - Excellent food was of a high standard and well cooked Nothing
- Iain (10/5): Wonderful stay. Comfortable, great food and drink. Friendly. - Exceptionally comfortable accommodation. The pub/restaurant is everything you could hope for - friendly, superb food and beer. Lovely breakfast too! Nothing

- Lesley (8/5): Attractive building with very comfortable bedrooms - We stayed at the Crown for one night before visiting the Shuttleworth Collection. It is a very attractive building with a large car park alongside, and bedrooms in chalet-style accommodation away from the pub across a beautiful beer garden. The room was clean and well equipped, with a very comfortable kingsize bed and a fridge containing fresh milk (always a plus point for us!) We enjoyed a very filling ploughmans platter in the restaurant and the bar served real ale (another plus point!) Minor quibbles - there was no seal around the bottom of the glass shower screen, so the bathroom floor became a bit of a lake. Although the breakfast was freshly cooked we had a very long wait and were not offered fruit juice or cereal beforehand.
- Fiona (10/5): - Fabulous room with a super Comfortable bed and great shower. Felt really ‘homely’ not at all like a standard hotel room. Having a fridge was a great bonus along with good coffee! Definitely would book again.
- John George (9/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): A must stay! - Quintessential village hotel with great staff, food and rooms. Really great vegan options.
- Nigel (8/5): -
- John (7/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): Excellent 2 night stay - The room was large, comfortable, and in a separate building from the pub/restaurant just across the garden.
We included breakfast, and both that and the 2 dinners we had in the restaurant were really lovely.
We had a large wet room, ideal for less able bodied guests, but there was no bath... other rooms might have baths, but I'm not sure. Nothing
- Roger (8/5): perfect for what we needed - Breakfast was fine, room was very comfortable. All the staff were very helpful could have done with a bit more information about the area,in the room.
- Deborah (6/5): - rooms approached externally
