Guest Reviews
- Amanda (9/5): Stunning view! - What a beautiful place!
Instantly fell in love with the view from my room. They were very friendly and accommodating to us and the food was delicious.
We also took a 4h boat trip to different islands, starting from Rwiza Village.
I'll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family.
If I'm ever back in Kibuye, I hope to return to this place

- Courtney (10/5): Great stay at Rwiza Village. - Stunning location, helpful staff, great swimming spot Nothing!
- jean jacques (8/5): - endroit calme, vue magnifique, bon restaurant
- Etienne (10/5): - Très bel accueil. Emplacement idyllique.
- KIHYUN (8/5): - comfortable and cozy Road is very bad. Also It is hard to find location.
- Peter (8/5): Good lodge at a beautiful location - Location, very nice cabin The rain...
- Robin (8/5): Loved the staff! Very nice people, food is good and location is beautiful. - The location is great ! Bed to soft, and some mosquitoes in the room ...
This can be fixed super easily.
- Eraste (9/5): Excellent stay - Everything was excellent, the location, staff ... Nothing
- Martin (10/5): - Nice staff Small for 3 persons
- Antonio (10/5): Great view to the lake - The view and the rooms :)
- Antonio (10/5): Great view and lovely rooms - The view was amazing and the staff very friendly All good :)
- David (10/5): Beautiful location and welcoming staff. - Beautiful location on Lake Kivu. Staff were so friendly and polite to us and helped with any questions. Restaurant has nice selection of food and drink. This is more of a glamping site as you stay in small huts overlooking the lake (small size but a nice balcony to sit and enjoy the view at anytime of the day). Of all the places we stayed during out trip around Rwanda this place was top of the list. You can also get a boat ride of the lake arranged from here which we highly recommend. Not a major issue but be aware the road up to the site does have a small rough patch where the road is uneven and a incline up which some vehicles may have an issue (but worth it when you get there)
- Linda (9/5): - Tolles, ausgiebiges Frühstück
Tolle Aussicht
- Clara (9/5): Superbe !
- Jason (7/5): Good views, needs better maintenance - The very good food, the beautiful view. Very friendly staff. The rooms need more maintenance — door locks did not always work, the bed mattresses are old and were not comfortable (think springs in your back). Very small shower areas. The road to it after the village is badly maintained.
- Dollbacher (6/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Breathtakingly Beautiful - I cannot recommend this truly beautiful hotel. The grounds of the hotel and the surrounding scenery is truly breathtaking ✨ and the staff and food is fantastic 🥰 the singing fishermen as you fall asleep is music to the ears and very special to experience 🥰we took a boat trip to some islands with a lovely guide connected to the hotel, very reasonable and definitely worth it. Thank you to all the staff we met, you made it a very special time for us 🙏🏽 we would love to come back one day ❤️
Jederzeit wieder :)
- GLASS (10/5): - Incredible views. Nice swimming, very good food at restaurant. Best Waiter at restaurant
- Andre (8/5): -
- Bill (10/5): Would recommend to anyone that wants a unique stay with lovely views! - Amazing views and great food. Hotel organised tours for us that were well priced and good experiences A little difficult to find but worth it!
- Ramona (10/5): wonderful place to be! - View, peaceful, calm, boat tour to monkey island, and napoleon island Nothing
- Maureen (10/5): -
- Manon (9/5): - Cadre paisible Assez difficile d'accès en voiture
- Heritier (10/5): -
- aigle.desert (1/5): - We spend 2 hours at the premises we didn't find anyone,we left and look for another hotel after midnight..with kids
- Yves (10/5): Magnifique - Propre. Vue magnifique.
- Belawle (2/5): -
- Dominika (10/5): - Lovely wooden bungalows with a stunning view over the lake. Excellent food and service – a very enjoyable place to rest and relax in the beautiful scenery.
- Gilles (7/5): Great lake view but.... - Nice bedroom with great view over the lake, quiet, comfortable bed with wide mosquito net, friendly restaurant staff, good food. A bit overpriced, poor WiFi, tiny shower, no bottled water in the room, and above all a rough access road (better to have a high clearance vehicle). Overall a bit run down.
- Imane (9/5): Magical stay at Rwiza village ✨ - My stay in Rwiza village was absolutely wonderful. This accommodation is a great choice for nature lovers with a good value for money. The location is amazing – it’s extremely quiet with a wonderful view at lake Kivu.
I felt so relaxed being enveloped by the greenery and the gentle sounds of nature.
All of the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
My room was clean and comfortable, with all the facilities I needed for a nice stay. The food was delicious. I had a fantastic time and will definitely come back next time I’m in Karongi. The bathroom was so small you could barely move or take a shower. Maybe the owner should consider expanding the huts.
- Rafi.sailor (8/5): Nice place to spend a day or two at Lake Kivu and its islands - Beautiful location above the lake shore, with a wonderful view from your bungalow's balcony. Very good food (both breakfast and dinner). The staff can arrange a boat trip to the Lake Kivu islands - the crew will pick you up right from the hotel's jetty. Ask for Napoleon's Island (in the shape of his hat - fruit bats' colony), Monkey Island (blue velvet monkey coming to the boat to greet you and ask for bananas), Crops' Island (plantation of local crops) and swimming cows' spectacle. The final few hundred metres to the hotel might be scary, but don't give up and continue - you'll be rewarded :-) Small bathroom with unergonomic shower installation. A number of steps all around - watch your step after nightfall!
- Robert (8/5): - Our stay was too short
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional - Photos dont do justice to this place. Wonderful place to stay at. Food is good, the view is amazing, the rooms are neat and clean and the bathroom has hot showers.
- Naomi (10/5): - The staff at this property were extremely nice and friendly. The journey from Kigali however was stressful. I recommend renting a jeep or a car with high tires as the roads leading to the accommodation are bad.
- Meindert (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Gakwenza (8/5): _ - Put network to yr compound plus room
Second water prsher in shower No network
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Salma (10/5): Excellent! We really enjoyed our stay in Rwiza Village. Highly recommended - Great location, breath taking views and lovely staff Shower is too small and sink water unbalanced
- Sibylle (9/5): Geweldig! - Beautiful location with fantastic views over Lake Kivu.
On arrival, our car turned out to be in breakdown. The receptionist helped us tremendously by staying in touch with the technicians and translating into English for us. His help was invaluable. Thank you, Eric!
Super friendly staff in the restaurant and very good food. Very nice breakfast. The last stretch of road to the accommodation is in very poor condition and difficult to access with an ordinary car. Nothing else to report.
- Mathy (9/5): Superb - Very nice calm place.
- Frank (9/5): Wonderful place with lovely stuff. - Great location with cosy bungalows and amazing view over the lake. Very friendly and helpful stuff.
- Adam (8/5): - The view from the balcony of each cabin is to die for!!! The staff extremely friendly!
Food in the restaurelant limited but tasty and very reasonably priced.
Now the bad news. Inside the cabins everything is so tired to say the least. The electric sockets practically hanging out. The shower so small you can hardly turn round ( and i am a slim guy).
It looks to me like the owner is giving up on it...
Such a shame as i really wanted to give high rating...
- Giulia (9/5): Relaxing and beautiful view - Nice huts with a beautiful view of the lake. The staff is very available and it is possible to join some activities directly from the hotel. We could also make a bonfire. Nothing
- Chiara (8/5): Peaceful and relaxing place, with delicious food - Nice place, still in development but with a lot of potential. There is an amazing shore at the lake where the boat trip starts, very peaceful. In the morning you can hear the singing of the fisherman. Delicious food! Not super clean, but ok. The road to arrive, however, is terrible and impossible to do without a 4x4. Hope they will improve this over time. The place is growing very nicely
- Trevor (8/5): Very good - Lovely position, friendly helpful staff. Great views in a rural setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not easy to find.
- Laurent (6/5): OK - Excellent location with view on Kivu lake and on fishermen leaving in the evening, singing and hoping for a good catcth. Excellent tilapia Fish at dinner, and nice looking bungalows Absence of running water (and not only hot water!) in the bungalow . It would have been a problem if we had staid longer
- Vincent (8/5): Beautiful place to relax - The location is beautiful, the view from the room overlooking the lake and the sunset is amazing!
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Fair price for what you get. The facilities need some renovation in the future, which seem to be already ongoing.
No Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the restaurant area.
- Henoc (7/5): Good -
- Eliška (9/5): Very tranquil place with amazing lake view, great spot for swimming - view on the lake, food, service
- Oliver (4/5): - I have already stayed at Rwiza Village twice. Once three years ago and once two years ago.
Unfortunately, the condition of the cabins has deteriorated a lot and urgently needs renovation or improvement.
The furnishings are also outdated. A chair broke straight away, the mosquito net had lots of holes and the toilet flush didn't work.
It has great potential, but please refurbish once soon.
- Sano (2/5): Very poor -
- Naiara. (10/5): Welcome to paradise - The location, next to the lake, the gardens and the lodges impress as soon as you arrive.
Eric, the receptionist, is very hospitable.
The room is a dream, hot water, access to the lake for swimming, and a spectacular breakfast.
A well-deserved 10 points for the Rwiza Village team.
Oh, if you love birds, you can watch them from the balcony of the lodge.
They will be your sweet melody when you wake up.
- Bastian (10/5): - Very nice lost place.
But you have to write explecid that you have a safe route to the hotel with the car and maybe you put it on your hotel description because the GPS shows very bad roads if you don'r know it.
Bute without this it's really a beautiful place.
- Alice (8/5): Very good -
- Shinji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): 10/10 would recommend - Insane view on the sunset over the lake, great restaurant, stunning views, cozy rooms and exceptionally friendly staff (especially in the restaurant)
- Jann (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mathias (9/5): Superb - neat bungalows with balconies towards the view, the sound of exotic birds in the beautiful garden and as best part we had a great dinner on the restaurant terrace served super friendly staff bumpy road to resort, limited space per room, cumbersome forms to fill upon check-in, an old lady sweeping the paths was begging for money
- Gilles (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing guesthouse riight on the lake.
Thise bird nest room are paradise.
Very friendly staff.
- Olivier (1/5): Total dissapointment.. - I was dissapointed that when i contacted the hotel they told me that i had no reservation; nd even the hote management did not take my case seriously; so i did not stay there.
- C.n.l. (9/5): Superb - Very nice little place. Great view of the lake and canoes passing by. The cabins are very nice, with own bathroom an balcony overlooking the garden and lake. A platform for swimming (needs some maintenance). A lovely garden, and a nice terrace (the terrace itself could do with more plants to make it super nice). Staff very friendly, good service, nice food. In fact, the fastest restaurant service in Rwanda as we experienced so far! Easy moto taxi into Kibuye (2k rwf pp) and we took a boat back (30k rwf per boat). Kibuye itself is nice and mellow (except for the many boat operators looking for business, but they all stay polite and let you go). Recommended!
- May (10/5): Felt like home but with a better view :) - We loved this place! It was so peaceful and beautiful. The staff was also very friendly.
- Mateusz (1/5): Reservation is a joke. They are not reliable. - Nothing. Upon arrival, the receptionist stated that there were no rooms for us, because they were undergoing renovation and some of the houses had been demolished, and they had not updated the booking. We called the booking service and they were supposed to help us. They did not. The receptionist found us another hotel and confirmed that he would pay for it. After staying overnight in another hotel, the receptionist refused to pay, renouncing his previous declarations. I do not recommend.
- Theoneste (1/5): Bad - They canceled my booking without informing me
- Patient (9/5): Superb -
- Michel (9/5): Perfect! -
- Michael (4/5): Not what we expected - The view is really great. You are in the middle of nature. Unfortunately they gave us an old housing which is not one of them on the photos. It was full of mosquitos and very loud near the kitchen. We had a bad night.
- Chantal (8/5): A love nest with amazing garden and sea view - To wake up with the view on the garden and lake was fantastic. The little bungalows are awesome.
It was an amazing experience to see the local fishermen coming back on their beautiful boat singing.
We had a swim and boat tour to the island which was a real bliss.
The food was good. Unfortunately, the place is a little bit run down but has so much potential.
No wifi in the bedrooms but not a real issue.
The shower needs to be fixed.
- Neh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tereza (8/5): Very good -
- Viola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gloria (8/5): Great location, amazing views and good food. Staff super helpful. - Location and staff very friendly and available. One night there was no water coming up and it took a while to fix the problem.
- Nlycas (8/5): Very good - Very good quality for value! Beautiful surroundings
- Esme (10/5): 10/10 experience - A slice of heaven! We stayed for only one night, wish we had time to stay longer as the hotel exceeded all expectations. The rooms are practical and have a fantastic view over Lake Kivu. The showers could be improved.
- Tina (10/5): Great value for money -
- Merveille (7/5): Good -
- Anna (10/5): The view was amazing! And the food was very delicious. - The place to go swimming was awesome!! The little road to attend the hotel wasn’t good. I got my wheel broken.
