- Celeste (9/5): Lovely hotel in a great location - The location was great, room is beautiful & breakfast was exceptional - food was of a high standard and staff was pleasant and very helpful. Can’t fault the breakfast team at all. The room is clean, well designed and modern. Design of hotel is tasteful and a real relaxation haven when you return from the busy city. Nice special touches in the room like thoughtful guest gifts. Reception staff. They aren’t welcoming when checking in. Not friendly at all. When checking out, we were overcharged for breakfast and only after we paid the bill, did we see that they charged us for an extra breakfast every day. We had settled the account so had to be refunded and checkout was a confusing mess. They cancelled our room cards after paying the bill even though we said we were not checking out, so we could not access our room to get luggage. Reception staff did not send anyone to assist with luggage collection in room. The front desk staff services need to be more streamlined, efficient and definitely more friendly. Not up to 5-star standard. Rest of the staff were amazing.

- Franziska Luxhøj (10/5): Amazing weekend stay - Amazing hotel, modern and elegant. Good adjustment option for everything in the room (lighting, heating) to make it comfy for own taste. Very attentive and friendly staff, delicious breakfast including local specialties and a la carte options. Beautiful spa & fitness area in the basement, which we didn't make use of (due to lack of time in only a weekend) but had a quick look. The location is perfect, in the middle between the harbor area and Sagrada Familia / Park Guell on the other side. Everything walkable (if you like walking, it is still a distance but absolutely possible - we walked everywhere).

The room was comfortable (bed was a bit hard) but overall wonderful. The staff is amazing! They were super friendly & very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel itself is beautiful--spotlessly clean, quiet (despite being on a busy central street) and you get the most fabulous view of Barcelona from the rooftop bar. We spent 4 wonderful days there and we're missing it!

Staff, especialy front desk and bell staff, were very friendly and helpful. When I arrived by car, they were right there to take my bags and offered a complementary cava! The reception and bell staff were extememly efficient and helpful throughout. I had an 'early check in if available' and was told around 11:30 that my room would be ready in about 40 minutes, so decided to wait rather than leave my bags and get a late breakfast (hadn't yet eaten that day) or do something. But, an hour later the room was still not ready and it was about an hour and a half before I was in the room. This was time wasted. I would have preferred to be told to come back in a few hours instead of waiting the entire time in the lobby. Room was very nice, spacious and elegantly designed, but the shower is a rain shower or hand held only. No way to mount the hand held so you can shower without getting your hair wet which means you always have to be holding the sprayer with one hand. I do run into this occasionally at hotels, but luckily not that often. At the restaurant Virens, breakfast was excellent, but dinner was disappointing. The menu is a bit fussy and mostly plant based and high carb--the rice-based bowls are over EUR 30 and are not-pallela and not-risotto but basically rice with some very small morsels of meat and some veg, depending on what you order. The flavors were nice but it seems wildly overpriced for what it is, and few other options for those of us who watch their carb intake. On the plus side our server recommended a very nice wine which was well priced. Service was good.

- gunan01 (10/5): Great Location, Beautiful Hotel, Friendly and Helpful Staff - We really enjoyed our stay at Almanac Barcelona. We stayed in one of the Art Suites on the 7th floor. Pros: Wonderful location in Eixample close to everything. Rooms are modern and in great shape with marbled bathrooms. Very clean. Service Level is 5 stars. Anas at the front desk was so kind and friendly. Samir the bellman was incredibly friendly and helpful. Concierge desk, especially Mario and Sebastian were super helpful and helped us book flamenco tickets for a same-day show. Breakfast buffet at Virens restaurant was great. We also had dinner at Virens one night and did the vegetarian tasting menu which was delicious. Azimuth the rooftop bar was nice. Cons: Pool was not heated. Also, for such a nice hotel, the on-site gym is inadequate and some equipment was out of order. Of note, they allow you to use an off-site facility which is more comprehensive, but we did not have time to go there.
- stevecN2556UN (8/5): Great service held back by aging property - The almanac Barcelona offered a lovely welcoming experience when we walked in the door. We were greeted by friendly staff, quickly checked into our room, and promptly guided to our room. However, when we got to the room it was a little of a let down. I should clarify that this is still a very nice and perfectly clean property, but it did not live up to modern 5 star standards. You could tell that this hotel was really nice and technically advanced at one point in time, but when we stayed you could tell it had been through its paces. The low wall scones in the entry area were all drooping from years of being bumped, the controls for lights/clinate/shades all on a touchscreen were clunky and didn’t always work right, etc. Also, if you happen to be on a lower floor you get to do some wonderful people watching from your windows, but they can also watch you! In order to have privacy in the evening, you have to close the shades. Also the streets are extremely bright. Other than that, the Virens restaurant on the first floor is amazing and there is an excellent breakfast there every morning that is definitely worth it.

Every member of the staff showed us the utmost respect and made sure our experience was truly memorable. We want to give a special shout-out to the gentleman who greeted us with champagne and brought our bags to our room. He was incredibly kind, personable, and immediately made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch his name, but his hospitality set the tone for the entire stay. The concierge team was also fantastic. They helped arrange tickets for several of the sights we wanted to visit and provided recommendations that were absolutely perfect for what we were looking for while exploring the city. Their guidance made navigating Barcelona effortless and enjoyable. The location of the hotel couldn’t have been better for everything we wanted to do. Being so centrally located made it easy to experience the best of the city. We also loved spending time at the Azimuth Rooftop Bar. The views were breathtaking, and watching the sunset from that vantage point was unforgettable. The drinks were excellent and it quickly became one of our favorite spots during our stay. The highlight of our trip, however, was dining at Virens Restaurant. The food and wine were absolutely incredible, and the entire experience felt like a dream. Our waiter made the evening even more special with his attentiveness and warmth. We wish we could remember his name because he truly was the icing on the cake. Everyone at the hotel made us feel genuinely welcomed, and it’s rare to find a place that delivers such consistent hospitality at every level. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we return to Barcelona. Thank you to the entire team at Almanac Barcelona for making our visit so unforgettable.

The Michelin-starred restaurant on the first floor is a standout, serving high-quality Spanish cuisine for both breakfast and dinner—which was a highlight for my children. The rooms are spacious and clean, contributing to a comfortable stay. We found the location to be both prime and safe, as we were within walking distance of Casa Batlló, El Corte Inglés, the beach, and numerous highly rated restaurants. The service throughout the property is professional; the entire staff, including the manager, Juan, is very attentive and helpful.

I had some hardware issues within the hotel but the service recovery and attentiveness were amazing and out of this world - and I am a regular traveler so that is saying something. Many thanks and appreciation to Juanjo and his team who took care of our problems and made our stay more memorable than it should have been! I am truly impressed and will definitely be back

The room was super clean and had a handwritten welcome note and a gift. Before arriving, I had made a few requests regarding the room and minibar, and I was happy to see that they had obliged to all of them. The staff were helpful throughout the stay, whether it was helping us get a taxi or assisting with the bags. The concierge service was excellent as well. Wi-Fi was the only thing that was not that great; it was slow to the point of being unusable. I ended up using my personal hotspot for the duration of the trip.

Free upgrade de yapmışlardı. Kahvaltısı çok güzel, yeterli ve keyifli. Camların bir miktar açılabilir olmasını hava sirkülasyonu açısından tercih ederim. Sadece klima sistemi odayı ısıtmak için yeterli değil, bu segmentteki bir otelde kış ayları da düşünelerek bir alt yapı yapılsa iyi olabilirdi.

The hotel itself is exceptional. Beautifully designed, calm, refined, and clearly run with high standards. The location is one of the best in Barcelona, and the room was perfect. Quiet, comfortable, and exactly what you expect from a top tier hotel. I also experienced the spa during my stay and received a massage that was genuinely five star. Professional, relaxing, and done properly from start to finish. It reflected the quality and attention to detail that runs through the hotel as a whole. However, none of the above is the real reason this hotel stands out. The single most important thing about the Almanac is the people. Every interaction with a human being during my stay was exceptional. Not polite. Not trained. Exceptional. Warm, present, switched on, and genuinely caring. This is rare, even at the highest level of hospitality. Samir at the front of house deserves specific recognition. He was outstanding. Calm, attentive, professional, and human. He made me feel welcome, remembered, and valued. He represents your brand perfectly. I want management to understand this clearly. Your team is your greatest asset. This is what differentiates you. This is what builds loyalty. This is why I will return. I have stayed in many excellent hotels, but very few leave a lasting emotional impression. The Almanac did, because of its people. Please look after them. They are the reason guests like me come back and remember your name.

- Marie-Pauline (9/5): Well done Almanac, you nailed it. - The room was stunning and the beds were very comfy. The shower and the bath with salts was very appreciated. We have been upgraded and got two balconies in our room, this suite was absolutely stunning and very little noise from t he road as very well insulated. The breakfast was also excellent, the buffet and the service had everything you would like in savoury and sweet. Staff members were all extremely welcoming. Maybe just the light from the mirror in the bathroom could be brighter, particularly handy for make up in the evening. The spa and sport area is very small, although very handy I could use it as no one was there but may be a problem if more people would like to use it in the same time.

Could sit all day at the sofa seat that juts out of the building in all the rooms and see the view of Barcelona and the street. Must see view of the Sagrada Família from the rooftop! The vegan 7 course meal at the restaurant (Virens) was delicious. The chef made it extra special for us by considering all the food limitations we had and working on that.

- sandytoez59 (10/5): Another Superb Stay at the Almanac Barcelona stay at the - This was our 6th or 7th stay at The Almanac Barcelona. If it’s at all possible, this was our best stay yet. I cannot say enough about the superb staff they have. I don’t know who trains them, but I have stayed at Ritz Carlton’s and Four Seasons around the world, and The Almanac staff are as good or in my opinion, better than any of them. It’s the little things they do and the way they communicate guests’ preferences internally. A perfect example is that I was at the front desk early in the morning asking for a late checkout because it was my wife’s birthday and we wanted to hit as many sights as possible. We were not only granted the late check-out, but while we were having breakfast, a beautiful little birthday cake with a candle arrived at our table, compliments of the staff. Like I said, it’s the little things they do that keep us coming back year after year. Special shout-out to Andreas and Sebastien at the front desk who made our check-in a breeze and treated us like long-lost family. Also, thanks to Eric the Valet & Paul the front desk night clerk who were also incredibly helpful. Then there is the INCOMPARABLE Sameer, the greeter who always lights up and makes us light up when we see him. This hotel has become a home away from home for us. The rooms are magnificent, Carrera Marble bathrooms, automatic curtains that open when you walk in the rooms, the lighting, the thought that went into designing the rooms and hotel is impressive, I highly recommend the rooms with balconies as the street views are astonishing. Even though the hotel is on a busy street, the triple-glazed doors and windows keep all sounds out. The rooftop bar, Azimuth, has spectacular views of Barcelona, and particularly, the Sagrada Familia church. They’ve added a small pool that’s perfect for dipping in on a sweltering day. They also make a mean cocktail and in particular, the spicy Margarita will get rid of any jetlag. The staff there is also phenomenal with a shout to Phillip, Alex and Luigi. One last thing we noticed this year at the Azimuth is that they have binoculars that when you look through them, you get a QR code that identifies whatever monument or building you’re seeing. I thought that was pretty cool and again, it demonstrates the little things they do to make your experience that much better. Lastly, if you’re fortunate enough to be in Barcelona during the holidays, I highly recommend booking the Luminescence light & choir show at the Santa Maria del Pi

Had I known this I would have offered to buy 1 from The Almanac. The staff was always very helpful and extremely professional as well.

- Discover43982744362 (10/5): The positives outweigh the negatives by a long way - As always start with the positives and there really is not much negative to report from The Almanac so it gets my thumbs up. Having had a really positive experience at the Vienna Almanac we thought we’d try their Barcelona hotel. Even way before our arrival there were very helpful exchanges with both reception and the concierge who were super friendly. A smooth and speedy check in followed by a comfortable room on the 6th floors with impressive views. It was a lot smaller than the room in Vienna but we did have spectacular views. I did not like the situation of the loo which was a tiny dark loo cubicle on the other side of the bed with no sink so you always had to go back into the bathroom to wash your hands. It was horrid and inconvenient to have the loo in the bedroom and did not allow for much privacy despite having a door so this room might be better for a sole occupant. A good shower though and proper size shower gel etc instead of those horrible little plastic bottles which barely contain enough for one shower and nice towels. If hotels want you to use towels again, it might help to have a heated towel rail otherwise towels are not going to dry and will need changing daily. The bathroom was not overly warm either. My other minor gripe was the strange music in reception which thankfully was not always playing but when it was, it sounded like a very unhappy whale having a bad day. A somewhat bigger moan is about the sketchy WiFi connection particularly in the room. It was not good and certainly not good enough for this day and age! The welcome was good, the staff at reception friendly and the concierge were super helpful, knowledgeable and really charming too - a big shout out to Joan, Mario and Sebastian. We didn’t have the opportunity to use the roof top bar but it looked lovely and the little gym in the basement is small but functional. Would I stay here again - yes absolutely - if you are looking for a comfortable place, well located at a very fair price with good service and friendly staff this is the place for you.

The service , location , rooms are superb. The staff remember me from previous stay with is comforting after international travel. Concierge services cannot be more helpful to enhance my experiences in Barcelona ! I will be returning again and recommend the Alemanac to all my friends .

While the room and breakfast were good, the experience was extremely disappointing when we faced an unexpected medical emergency. For a five-star property, the lack of empathy and flexibility was shocking. The night before checkout, my husband became very sick and spent most of the night vomiting. In the morning, I called the concierge for help. To their credit, they arranged for a doctor to make a house call, which we appreciated. The doctor then advised that my husband go to the hospital. Since we were supposed to check out that same morning, I asked the front desk if we could extend our checkout time. They gave us one extra hour, but I was worried that wouldn’t be enough time to return from the hospital, pack, and check out. We also didn’t know what the outcome of the ER visit would be. When I asked for a couple more hours, the receptionist said the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t allow a late checkout in a very cold tone and indifferent tone. Yet when I asked if we could pay for another night, he said that was possible. This felt inconsistent and unkind, especially in the middle of a health emergency. To make things worse, the receptionist suggested that we pack our bags and bring them down before going to the hospital, which was unreasonable given how sick my husband was. The whole experience felt unnecessarily stressful and lacking in compassion. When we returned and checked out, not a single staff member asked how my husband was or if we needed anything. Not even a simple “How is he now?”. As people of Indian origin, we couldn’t help but feel we were treated more dismissively than other guests, though it’s hard to know whether that was due to bias or simply a general lack of warmth. Either way, it left us feeling unseen and unwelcome. We’ve traveled extensively (this was our fifth trip to Spain and third to Barcelona) and this was the worst hotel experience we’ve had. The true mark of a luxury hotel is how it treats guests in difficult moments, and this one failed completely. There are many beautiful hotels in Barcelona, and next time, I’ll choose one where the service matches the setting.

Despite informing staff of our wedding anniversary, they didn’t offer congratulations. When we requested a taxi to the airport, a black van arrived. Curious about the fare, we asked at the front desk, which claimed it was the same as a regular yellow taxi, but it turned out to be much pricier. I can't recommend this hotel.

The rooftop bar is truly world-class, with an atmosphere and views that easily deserve five stars, and the food is also excellent. However, the service falls short of that same standard—it’s good, but not quite on par with the rest. It does not have a gym. For the right price, I would recommend staying here again.
