The staff were all so friendly and helpful, they made our stay special. Food was good for breakfast and dinner. Our only disappointment was Tarbert was totally closed! Got the ferry over which was lovely, but not even a cafe open so came back in next ferry.
- Thomas (10/5): Definitely recommend - The Shepherd's hut wasclean and comfortable. The restaurant was fantastic. Over the whole weekend everything was delicious. The spa was great. The outdoor facility was great. The staff were friendly and really attentive and willing to engage in conversation.

- Carolyn (8/5): - The breakfast was good, however they would not deviate from the menu. I asked for an omelette, however I was told this was not possible as not on the menu - bit disappointed. Spa was so relaxing, could have stayed longer than the 2 hours allotted. Infinite pool - perfect. Dinner at night did not disappoint lots of choice and beautifully cooked. The only down side was the room cleaning. The bed in the room would be made up however if there was a used mug it was not cleaned, it was just left. Again minor but disappointing.

We mentioned to housekeeping staff member and was told someone would contact us. This never happened and by time we checked out we still had not had any contact.

The restaurant was great and the spa and outdoor pool was fantastic. The massage by the Spanish lady was one of the best I’ve had. We also took the ferry over to Tarbert one afternoon, which was 20 minutes away and just glorious. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Room was clean, comfortable and quiet with views of the Loch and surrounding countryside. There's a decent restaurant overlooking the marina and nice leisure & spa facilities on the complex.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Butlins without the fun - We didnt get a single smile, and plenty of surliness. Owners clearly more interested in your money than your experience or the happiness of their staff. Felt like the most miserable holiday camp ever. Pool packed. Marina packed. Landscape exploited with all the money spent on plastic spa facilities and none on vegetation. A grey plastic hotel. If you live in a grey plastic house, with plastic grass and acres of block paved drive for your Evoque you'll likely love it.
- Janine (6/5): - The overall location and facilities were gorgeous and check in was extremely smooth. We used the spa facilities and had treatments however, felt that we were rushed towards the end of our treatment and the staff were mopping floors before we had even come out of our treatment. It made us feel that we had to get out and upon reflection, perhaps treatments shouldn’t have been made available at that time if staff were looking to get away. When we had dinner at the restaurant we weren’t advised of what wasn’t available to eat due to being sold out and while we were waiting to be seated, we weren’t offered a drink or a menu. We stayed in the lodge and there was zero soundproofing so could hear people coming in and out of the building and those in the room above. The mattress was also uncomfortable and there was only body wash available in the room which seemed strange for somewhere that promotes their spa - would have expected body lotion, shampoo/conditioner etc and for the body wash to be detailed of what it was.

- Jan (8/5): - Lodge room was very comfortable, clean. Bit of a walk to get to restaurant from it if you want to have a drink first or have mobility issues. But top marks to hotel reception they organised a pick up from room & back when finished by a very pleasant & helpful young man called Pete. Only issue was my steak at dinner, it wasn't good & don't think it was rump either as said on menu Other than that food very good
- Neil (6/5): Pleasant stay but not luxury. - Enjoyable stay at Portavadie. Lodge room was spacious and clean. It was chilly at times and there was no way to increase the room temperature. There was an out of service toilet adjacent to our room which was smelly and detracted from our experience. It was a fairly long walk (or drive) from the reception and the restaurant to our room and further still to the swimming pool and spa. The restaurant was good for both dinner and breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. I was not impressed by a member of staff at the reception desk at the spa/pool who ignored us for 2 minutes as they processed something on their PC. A ‘hello, I will be with you in a minute’ would have sufficed. The heated outdoor infinity pool was lovely given the views it offers. Overall a pleasant stay but not a luxury experience and not great value for money.
- fred (10/5): - Sadly we were unable to enjoy the break as much as we would have liked. Absolutely nothing to do with the resort. Quite the opposite! I unfortunately took unwell. Peter, the First Aider could not have been more attentive and dialled 999. He stayed with me until the Paramedics arrived. I was Blue lighted back down to Dunoon and kept in overnight. Once I had seen the doctor again the following morning and released from hospital. Portavadie sent Josh, a duty manager the 1.5 hours down to pick up me and my wife and return us to the resort. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such care anywhere else in the past.
- Lesley (10/5): - Fantastic stay in Portavadie for our anniversary. The lodge rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Food in the Marina Restaurant was lovely and staff were warm and friendly. Spa facilities were an added bonus, we loved the outdoor infinity pool with stunning scenery. There was a card and chocolates in our room wishing us a happy anniversary. We thought this was a lovely touch and we would recommend and stay again.

- Peter (8/5): Portavadie Marina - We loved our stay in Portavadie. The outdoor infinity pool is excellent. We sayed in the lodge. Our room was spacious but a little bit tired looking. The corridor carpet leading to our room looked as though it had seen better days as did the sofa in our room. None of this was bad enough to put us off potentially returning to this resort, which is located in a beautiful setting. The service in the restaurant was excellent.

It was a bit limiting that leisure facilities were only open 10 till 5.30 as people are often out for the day and would like to be able to access these earlier or when they return later as well. We fully appreciated however that recent circumstances may have been a factor and so perhaps this is something that could be looked at in the future.

- Clair (10/5): Papa and Granddaughter Great getaway. - Absolutely BRILLIANT our stay was better than we could've imagined. Hotel and spa were fantastic. We had booked the spa for 4pm but got lost on our journey. I called the hotel and they said don't worry we will change it if possible for your arrival and they did. The restaurant was fully booked too but again the staff came good and managed to fit us in. Next day when we were leaving and I was short on petrol the staff came to the rescue again and we were able to buy fuel from the marina.Just to let you reviewers know I was riding a motorbike. The food was excellent both at dinner and next day breakfast. Only word of advice would be book early for the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Really can't praise the staff highly enough. I will definitely be going back. Brilliant hotel in a fantastic setting and second to none staff.

- karen (10/5): Great stay- cottages cosier than ever - 3rd time staying in the cottages- i think they might have added new windows to them or new heaters.. the cottages were wonderfully warm and cosy, making the experience even better than before. the pool is as magnificent as ever- lovely and warm. staff are very helpful indeed and fussed over every dog in the place. There's really nothing to fault here at all
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great pool and lovely location - A lovely location with a great pool and leisure facilities. The food in the restaurant was good but the service was only so so. That said, I'd be happy to visit again at some point.
- Eilidh (10/5): Fantastic food and unique spa experience - Fantastic stay in portavadie. The food in the restaurant was top quality and the spa was a relaxing, unique experience with amazing views. The room was equipped with everything we needed and had a nice scenic view.
- Maria (8/5): Overnight stay - The staff are excellent here !and are happy to chat...good atmosphere is the restaurant at dinner & lunch....food was lovely. Outdoor hot tub was not on but the heated outdoor pool was so warm and relaxing. Beautiful views from the pool. We stayed in a twin lodge and it was quiet small. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

- Gerard (10/5): Great place, shame about the Lodge Cafe and bar. - Great place for a break, pools and spa are brilliant. We stayed at the lodge which has really comfortable rooms. We stayed here before at the lodge which had a bar and cafe which was excellent. Sadly this is no longer open, which really is a shame, as you now have to go the main building for a snack or a pint during the day. Apart from that i can't recommend this place high enough.

We had fun in the spa and enjoyed delicious food and cocktails in the restaurant. Staff in restaurant and reception were all superb. Thanks Jamie and gentlemen back from Texas for looking after us so well. A terrific, memorable mums and daughters trip.
- Kirsty (10/5): Fantastic staff and service, shame about the room. - Overall experience was great. The staff especially were excellent. They were really attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the pillows were really flat and the bedroom was far too hot, so we had to sleep with the window wide open even though it was January. Sleep was very broken. Apart from that, the swimming pool was well maintained and managed and the food was excellent.
- Holly (10/5): Brilliant spa break - Lovely stay. Our second time here. Food is great, rooms are lovely, welcoming and dog friendly. Not a fan of the menu being all online as prefer to have dinner without phones around. Breakfast was limited choice but tasty Will be back. Love it

There was a little hiccup with my room for the first night and changed to another for the second, but staff were lovely, accommodating and very friendly and helpful. I’d love to come up and stay again in the future- I feel totally relaxed after my stay.

- Stephen (10/5): Stunning break - The covid measures were clear but did not impact on our stay. The outdoor pool at sunset 🌅 is phenomenal! This is an amazing part of Scotland and well worth a visit. Excellent food and service in the restaurant.
- Shona (8/5): - Beautiful setting. However had issues with tv box and no instructions in room . Took while to get internal number on phone to call reception ( no directory) and when I did, no answer. Unplugged everything and luckily it worked when all put back together!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average over priced - The room was lovely, but service in the restaurant wasnt great, they forgot about us and we had to ask to get drinks, then forgot to come back to ask us for out desserts. With all the facilities being shut, was to over priced.

- Simon (10/5): Idyllic spot - It was a wonderful holiday. Idyllic, tranquil location. Good value. Friendly, helpful staff, and clean rooms. My only complaint would be the beds. For a couple, the double beds are too small! Otherwise, we loved it.
- Alan (8/5): Weekend bread - The location is beautiful despite a rollercoaster ride on the local roads. Staff were very pleasant and the lodge was ready upon our arrival, spacious and immaculately presented. We managed to get to the spa and had a meal in the lodge kitchen both of which were very enjoyable experiences. We sadly had to leave after only one night due to Coronavirus related closure enforced by the government. I'd be very happy to return and I was sad to only have had a little over a day to explore and enjoy the complex.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room for three in the lodge was spacious and well maintained. The grounds were enjoyable to walk through with lots of great water views. It's a bit of a walk to get from the lodge to the pool or restaurant in the marina. We liked the exercise, but I suppose you could drive if it was difficult for you. We were only there for a couple of days but we had a short hike, rented bikes and enjoyed the pools and sauna. The heated outdoor pool was fantastic since the weather was cool and damp most of the time. The food was quite good, especially dinners in the marina restaurant. The service was always very friendly, though at times they seemed a bit understaffed. However, somewhat slow service seemed to be consistent throughout Scotland, especially the wait for the check at the end. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and wished our stay was longer as the area was beautiful and there was a lot to do.
