- juliob837 (6/5): Unimpressed - I was genuinely unimpressed with my stay. Several issues added up and made the experience far below expectations. At breakfast, I asked for the same parfait I had ordered the day before, only to be told they “don’t have it on Saturdays.” The server didn’t make any effort to check whether it could be prepared, and instead suggested I go to Starbucks. That’s not the level of service I expect from a hotel restaurant. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Although we left the room every day around 8:30 a.m. and didn’t return until 4 p.m., the room was not cleaned daily. Finally, when I valeted my car, the parking attendant made an inappropriate comment: “I take care of your car and you take care of me.” Completely unprofessional.

My main issue was the weekend prince for the room was 200, my monday night price was 400 and for that double price I go no hot water between 9 and 5 on Monday and Tuesday, an room where the wall paper was pealing off the bathroom wall, the bathroom sink drained very slowly and it took a long time to get how water Monday night.
- Nathan (4/5): Awfully Surprised at Avalon - My server at South Kitchen. The pool area on the second floor. The view from the corner king (room 1102). The lobby, it was gorgeous. My first room smelled like bleach, the bed was completely unmade (no sheets, pillows, or blankets were on the bed, and there was some type of dried excrement on the rug. They upgraded me to a corner King which was better but then when I was about to go to sleep, I get poked by a shard of hard plastic that looked and felt like glass. The staff came upstairs to investigate and saw that it was indeed a sharp shard in my bed. The next morning, I went to pick up one of my to go bags from.a restaurant and dust flew up in the area setting off my allergies. The gym has old equipment and fraying yoga mats and the staff doesnt seem to go out of their way to help or make your stay memorable unless there is a problem. I must say the night manager did give me a $30 voucher for food or drink as an apology and took half off the rate I paid for the room. Even so, there is so much about the hotel that lacks attention to detail. I probably would not stay here again even though it's so beautifully decorated. If this is supposed to be a luxury hotel, I would say they have some room for growth.

I had a very smooth check in with complimentary iced Tea or Fruit blended water. My Room was spacious and very comfortable with a nice view of the city. I ate brunch at the restaurant called South City Kitchen. It was delicious with a bar that served the best cocktails in a hotel I’ve visited so far. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I will be making this my Go to hotel whenever I’m visiting the area.

Carpets were stained, mattress was torn on the side in a few places, tile on the bathroom floor was cut poorly, very few amenities. I don't mind paying for quality but a hotel that is an "Autograph" should at least provide their customers with an "exceptional" value added experience. Sorry to say will not be returning.

After a generally underwhelming, very dry check-in at the front desk I was initially not impressed with service at this hotel…. But the valet crew went above and beyond- not only with friendliness and smiles (the only smiles I received during my stay by the hotel staff I interacted with) - the valet crew overheard that I had forgotten my phone charger and found one to fit my phone and then came and found me at Starbucks to loan it to me for the day so I could charge my phone. The room was fine, the facility clean and comfortable, but it was entirely (and ONLY) the valet staff who made my stay special and why I will recommend this hotel to others (with this story included). Much thanks and appreciation to NATE and his valet group during my stay.

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. The rooms were beautifully designed, spotless, and had that perfect balance of luxury and relaxation that makes you feel instantly at home. What made the visit even more special was attending the International Women’s Day event hosted by Lululemon. The energy in the space was inspiring—being surrounded by such an empowering community celebrating strength, wellness, and connection made the evening truly memorable. Everything was thoughtfully organized, and the setting at the hotel made it feel both elevated and intimate. Between the exceptional hospitality at Hotel Avalon and the uplifting Lululemon event, it was the perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!

Many thanks to Dennica Lawrence who went above and beyond when I called and told her it was our anniversary. She upgraded our room to a larger king room with an amazing view of the Avalon, and sent an amenity to our room to help us celebrate. She accommodated an early check-in and helped us with a smooth checkout this morning. She truly helped make our stay and our anniversary one that we will always remember.

- RealGaPeach (10/5): Family reunion snowed in - Avalon never fails to impress. This past visit was well beyond my expectations. I had a family reunion with everyone arriving day before the snow bomb. No one could leave the hotel due to cold, wind, and snow. What could have been a disaster trying to get additional rooms turned out to be a good experience mainly due to the staff at Avalon. Som Nwanie and Danica were not only great at their positions with the technical aspects of 3 reservations but they are beautiful people inside and out. They could not have been nicer or more competent ! I don’t know what Marriott is paying them but I guarantee it is not enough for truly competent employees. Also, Julian was fabulous. I will always use. Marriott first because of their employees. Thanks for making our reunion special.

The staff made my stay beyond enjoyable and were extremely accommodating with me having to extend my trip due to the weather. They had the roads salted, the restaurant, bar, and Starbucks were all still open making meals during my stay very easy regardless of most restaurants in the area being closed. I can't wait to come back and stay again!

Beds are super comfy, Our room needed a new tv, I think the LCD screen was old and the picture look blue, housekeeping is inconsistent with refilling coffee/tea clean cups and water, I had to go down stairs to ask reception twice, as the phone in the room did not work. The hotel can become quiet busy, the lobby then has a queue for the elevators which is a hack if you are in a rush.

The lobby is beautifully decorated for the holidays, complete with a Christmas tree, cozy décor, and a fireplace that’s ideal for sitting with a book or enjoying a drink. It strikes just the right balance between festive and relaxing. The staff is consistently wonderful—friendly, helpful, and welcoming—and the rooms are always clean, spacious, and very comfortable. One of the biggest perks is the easy access to the shops and restaurants at Avalon itself. Being able to shop, dine, and stroll around (adult beverage in hand!) is such a bonus. The location is also incredibly convenient for visiting family scattered throughout the area and for accessing other nearby attractions. Little touches really stand out too, like the daily cookies and flavored water or iced tea in the lobby. Having a Starbucks on site, along with a restaurant and bar, makes everything even more convenient. We genuinely love staying here—it’s cozy, comfortable, festive, and consistently a great experience.

It's location is perfect for coordinating visits with friends and family between Cumming, Buckhead, Woodstock, and Alpharetta. The main lobby space is like a living room and is awesome for hanging out and relaxing with friends and family. It has Easy proximity to the bar for drinks, munchies, or meals and if the bar/ restaurant isnt your thing, there is a full service Starbucks also adjacent. The rooms are super comfortable regardless of the size. The best part though is that the staff has always felt like an extended part of the family from the very first time we visited. From the housekeeping team always quick with a smile and a good morning, to the bar team quick to check on needs, to the attentiveness and assistance from the front desk team, everyone has always made the hotel feel like home. Thank you for yet another great holiday and we look forward to many more visits to come!

Our family had a Christmas celebration at Avalon and decided to all stay at the hotel. What a treat. The service at the front desk was amazing and super friendly. We were able to walk around all the shops and even come back in time to have a drink at the bar. The rooms are beautiful, the bed is comfy and I am in love with the pillows. I even requested extra for my room. If you want to treat yourself while you are in Alpharetta, stay at the Hotel at Avalon.
- zoe1mom (4/5): Disappointing for this 'level' of hotel - First, the good....the valets were all very nice and efficient and the location is excellent if you are visiting or working in the area with great restaurants in walking distance. However...initially it is difficult to determine where the front desk is (far back left corner of the lobby and behind walls) and then at first impression and on to the remainder of the stay, the front desk staff were not friendly even when spoken to or a question asked of them. Could we even have a smile and not feel as though we were a bother? The room was overall clean but the smell was bad on entering the room; smelling of old bleach and soured water. It took nearly a day for the odor to dissipate. The bed was so poorly made that I remade with the sheets back to the correct position and fitted sheets over the corners. Once in bed we noted the sheets were pilled so much (mostly polyester vs. expected cotton for a high end hotel!) that the next morning, I stripped off the sheets and accessed fresh ones from housekeeping. They could not understand any basic English but we made it work and got some better sheets. Bring you own pillow--these were hard polyfill. The closets are so narrow that the hangars cannot hang at 90 degrees to the wall--odd. We did not partake of the breakfast option as there did not appear to be any options for vegetarians on the menu but there were a good number of people there. Simply put, this is not what is expected even at the lower end of Marriott owned properties and it was a sad disappointment when we expected at least a full Marriott brand experience over the days we were there.

- MikeFromSC (10/5): High Quality Business Stay - When in town for work, this property is my go to, along with the rest of our team. With our corporate code the price is affordable, especially with the (2) $15 breakfast vouchers to use each morning. This applies even at the Starbucks located inside the hotel. Since I drive versus fly to this location I use the parking garage across the street. It has a half dozen electric chargers - super handy. The walk into the hotel from the garage is a piece of cake. With the location at the end of the wonderful Avalon area, there are plenty of top notch restaurant opportunities a quick 2-5 minute walk from the hotel. There is also a Whole Foods down the street for those who want to eat in. The restaurant at the hotel has a nice selection for dinner. Breakfast is a little pricey but has a series of unique and delicious dishes. The bar area is hopping pretty much every night. A great place to unwind after a long work day. Customer service is excellent and consistent to the point where the Front Desk Supervisor remembered me from the week before. The room is quiet, especially on the 12th floor. The bed is comfortable, internet speed is good and the shower has great water pressure. I found the room to be nice and clean. I don’t opt for housekeeping during business stays as I’m an adult and can clean up after myself. Ha. If there is anything ripe for improvement would be a bit of a deeper work area where you could use the HDMI cable from the TV as a second monitor. But honestly, that is still not much of an issue in the grand scheme of things. I look forward to returning every five or six weeks for the next few years while I work on a project in John’s Creek. Thanks for providing a great experience.

He was eager to serve and seemed genuinely happy to be at work. It’s refreshing to come into contact with folks like that when everyone around you is rushing from workshop to workshop as we fill each other’s ears with lots of problems and few solutions. The entire staff was great, but Harry got me through the conference!

- brittanyhK4779RL (10/5): Sweet Southern Surprise! - My husband and I had the most wonderful visit the last weekend in September! We were quite weary after a long drive to Atlanta. Upon arrival, we were greeted by cookies! Reallly yummy, welcoming, "ooey gooey pecan cookies!" Daysha was so welcoming & kind. We didn't have a reservation but Daysha quickly got us registered and checked in quickly. Tiara, the manager on duty, was also helpful in the efficiency of that process. Our room was spacious, decorated elegantly comfortable and ample lighting. I really liked the layout of the bathroom and the multiple lighting options. I appreciate that in addition to a hairdryer, there was also a lighted makeup mirror, which was a nice touch. Our original plan was to only stay one night while passing through. However, I got such a wonderful night's sleep and it was such a lovely neighborhood. Kiara was so darling and helpful to help extend our stay and not even have to change rooms. I absolutely love this hotel and can't wait to visit again!! In addition to having "spa" water in the lobby drink dispenser, they also had sweet tea like my mom makes! It was fantastic.

The staff is always super helpful and always incredibly nice. We have had many interactions with Edith Mupeta-Chester, the front office manager. She always has the customer in mind and has consistently exceeded our expectations along with her entire team. Highly recommend visiting!!
