Guest Reviews
- Alistair (9/5): A relaxing visit with friendly , helpful hosts. - The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was tasty and well presented. The room was spacious with a large comfy bed. Unfortunately there was no bath in our room (which we prefer) but the shower was large and powerful.
- Graham (10/5): We wanted to explore the Brecon area & find a central base. The Borderers was perfect. - Incredible location. Amazing helpful staff & a very pleasant stay.
- Valerie (9/5): It was lovely and the hosts were so helpful and the bed and pillows were so comfortable - It was a beautiful old building and the location was brilliant Our room was upstairs and the stairs were not brilliant to get up. Also plumbing was an issue
- Helen (9/5): -

- joyce (10/5): I would recommend this accommodation to anyone it’s a wonderful place with lots of historic connecti - My breakfast was exactly what I wanted the location was in a quiet part of the Heart of Brecon close to all amenities and wonderful walks Nothing
- Sreedhar (10/5): Perfect - Our host was so lovely! She made sure everything was perfect for us and it really made our stay more memorable. Breakfast was delicious and we like how convenient the place was. We definitely will visit again when we’re back! N/A
- Charles (10/5): Great hosts and amazing location - Warmest welcome in Wales! Amazing host with lots of recommendations for activities in the area, and also amazing breakfasts to start you day off perfectly. The location is great for access to town but also the Brecon Beacons National Park.
- Sarah (8/5): I had a great stay, with a friendly helpful host, a good bed and in a very convenient location. - The host, Gail was very friendly and helpful, I didn't want breakfast for my three day stay so she kindly made me a very tasty packed lunch each morning which I really appreciated. The bed was perfect and the shower good. There was a full sized, fast boiling kettle in the room (essential for my well being) and although no fridge in the room, there was fresh milk (and jugs) in the fridge on the landing just a few steps away. The location is perfect for Brecon town centre - just a few minutes walk away. Onsite parking is always good, but be warned if you have a large/wide car you'll struggle to get thought the gates and manoeuvre in the yard. I found the bathroom quite awkward as it was under the eves with a sloping ceiling making the room quite dark (no natural light) and the light fitting wasn't directional, there was no mirror at eye level making it really awkward to do what I needed to do. I'm fairly tall, so it may not be an issue for other people. There's not much clothes storage and no drawers/shelves just a few hooks and hangers on the back of the door.
- Tracy (10/5): - Everything was perfect, and a great breakfast thanks Gail. We will be returning. Having to leave
- Jack (10/5): -
- Clare (10/5): Its a gem! - Excellent location and a fantastic host who clearly loves cooking breakfast and providing recommendations for local trips and eating out. A lovely b&b which is run with real care and attention. Nothing!
- Camille (9/5): -
- PETER (10/5): - An excellent location, cosy accommodation, very welcoming host.
- Edith (9/5): - Perfect position. Delightful host, couldn't be more helpful. Steep stairs to access the room, perhaps wouldn't choose that one again but once in, the room was very comfortable and had an excellent shower
- Nick (9/5): Excellent. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Amazing host, lovely place - The host/owner, Gail, was probably the nicest and most welcoming host I’ve ever met. Lovely lady, who couldn’t do enough for us The parking was a bit of a squeeze, and had to park elsewhere (still free and nearby) on the second night, but didn’t in any way spoil the stay

- Nick (9/5): - Schönes altes Haus in guter Lage zur Innenstadt. Gutes Frühstück, Extrawünsche werden erfüllt. Sehr nette Vermieterin.
- Jacob (10/5): - The breakfast was really lovely and the vegetarian options were great!
- Anne (10/5): - A lovely reception by Gail, the owner, who made me feel welcome and very comfortable. She went out of her way to make my stay in Brecon worthwhile and I really enjoyed my time with her. I look forward to visiting again.
- Joyita (10/5): -
- Taylor (10/5): Fantastic have recomended place to my boss - Think place is amazing . Made us welcome even cooked breakfast early so accomadating Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Tom (10/5): Great location and a very warm welcome - Great location for Brecon town centre. Original building is 16th century so some rooms are a bit small. However Gail the host is amazing, very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the Indian breakfast! There is on site parking but wow the entrance is narrow. Breathe in as you drive in. Room was quite small but hey ho, that's the nature of the building.
- Hal (10/5): - The place was cosy and the rustic layout created a lovely warm atmosphere. The hostess, Gail, went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend.
It's also right in the center of things; perfect location.
- BobW (10/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): Gail was very attentive ,a great host! - The Breakfast was very special.
- Mike (10/5): A very enjoyable and relaxing stay. - It’s a really unique and historic building which is ideally situated in Brecon. Walking distance into the main town centre and closes to everything you need. Nothing really, the car park is a little small but you are made aware of that early on and Gail is very helpful in getting you parked.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Gail the host was brilliant. Went above and beyond to make our stay worth it. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was lovely and the room was cosy. Would highly recommend and if we were to stay in Brecon again i would definitely check if the Borderers Inn was available first
- Liz (10/5): It was fantastic thanks - The food was amazing and our wonderful Gail
Was so friendly and helpful, she made us feel so special would recommend %100 . The area is beautiful , not to be missed. Wish we all could stay longer
- Mark (10/5): Great accommodation and exceptional staff - There are hundreds of reasonable quality B&Bs around, right? Well, what differentiates this place is the quality of the person who runs it. Her name is Gail and she’s very friendly, welcoming and chatty. Nothing is too much trouble. She cooks a very good breakfast as well. Do yourself a favour and stay here. NA
- Lloyd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony,s (10/5): Exceptional - loved our room with its exposed beams and the retained character of the building. Our host Gail was so friendly and really fed us well. we chatted lots and were made so welcome . it was more like we were house guests than customers. looking forward to future visits here. struggling here. but having the washbasin in the main part of the room is old style but a consequence of the historical buiding's layout. it was not a problem for us and more than compensated by the big shower, "room for two". only mentioned it as some guests might be particular on this point. we were in room 1 but other rooms will be different.
- Charlotte (9/5): Superb -
- Maxine (10/5): Would definitely recommend. - Great location, lovely room and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. Nothing.
- Michael (8/5): Gail was a delightful and very informative host. - Convenient, charming all amenities provided. Nothing really. As expected.
- Elaine (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Gail was the best host anyone could wish for. She greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room. We stayed in room no. 3 top flour overlooking main road and Clarence public house opposite. Room could do with a bit of tlc, but all I can say is bed was comfy and sheets were immaculate. Breakfast was best English I ever had all cooked fresh to your requirements and even down to baked beans served in a little pot. Just wonderful. She got me gluten free sausage, and did me wonderful poached egg & served up with a lovely decaf cuppa. Orange juice was also very delicious and not watered down like some larger hotels. Best of all served with a smile 😃 Thank you Gail for your delightful hospitality & help. The breakfast room was quirky & cosy just how I like it. Milk is in a fridge on the landing to help yourself in little jugs which I thought was a nice touch Bed was on small side and curtains let in too much light. Also anti slip mat needed for shower floor.
- Andy (7/5): Comfortable, very friendly staff and great location - Very good breakfast options, good service
- David (10/5): A Fantastic Stay. - A wonderful stay, enhanced by Gail's helpfulness and enthusiasm for the area. On arrival, she helped us park in the hotel car park. Worth noting that the entrance is quite small so only appropriate for ordinary cars. Her suggestions for eating out - the Gorkha and Khukuri was exceptional and we would never have found it without her help. The breakfasts were wonderful and Gail was always prepared to go the extra mile. Nothing really!
- Andrew (9/5): Very comfortable B&B, excellent breakfast, and the most friendly & attentive host - Gail. -
- Davies (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorothy (8/5): - very old property which made it interesting but inevitably this comes with limitations. Older buildings have smaller rooms for example.
Overall it was a very pleasant place to stay, convenient for the Hay festival. Enough shops to enable a pleasant time strolling through the town.
- David (10/5): - One of the best greetings ever from Gail she looked after myself and others in my group exceptionally.
- Janette (10/5): A lovely b and b in the heart of Brecon owned by a friendly and interesting couple. - The property is really old and full of character. We were upgraded to a larger room on arrival which was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and kept us going for the whole day. We chatted to Gail and Kevin, the owners who were so lovely and interesting. Gail couldn’t have been more accommodating. We both enjoyed our stay there so much and we cannot recommend it more highly. Thank you Gail for being such a wonderful host. Everything was good.
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional - An absolutely amazing host, Gail couldn’t do enough for you - the most genuine/happy person you could ever meet, who would go above and beyond to make sure your holiday is prefect! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Alison (9/5): Our stay at The Borderers was short but sweet. We thoroughly enjoyed it. - The location was central and historic. The proprietress, Gail, is a delight and could not have done more to accommodate us and make us welcome. The breakfast was excellent and included a delicious Glamorgan veggie sausage we had not come across before. Nothing that I can think of given the convenience of location, the warmth of the hospitality and the very reasonable cost of accommodation.
- Denise (9/5): Kindness can make a stay feel special - Gail couldn’t do enough for us, she knew we were walkers and even got up early to do breakfast one day as we were climbing Pen Y Fan on a sunny day. Beautiful lady The B&b is obviously an old coaching inn, the doorway for the cars to drive through is tight for a large car like ours, Gail was brilliant getting us in and out but the last night we parked round the corner as it was a bit stressful.
- Frequent (9/5): Friendly host, great breakfast and bonus of free parking - Love the location .Close to shops and restaurants but on the main road. We asked to be put in the back room to avoid noise from the main road
Breakfast was wonderful as i have ask for something new I was served indian breakfast for two mornings we were there.they were yummy and tasty
My husband had traditional full english breakfast freshly cook by our lovely and friendly host Gail.
They supply quality toiletries and fresh milk for your room It was a beautiful old building but our room at the back was not for tall people. We are average height and my husband banged his head on the wooden beam twice. If you are taller than 5 foot 10 inches ask for a different room.
- Matthew (10/5): Absolutely perfect. - Really good clear direction and communication.
- James (9/5): Fantastic place to stay - Clean, comfortable room and bed.
Very secure parking (vans or big SUV's will struggle to get in)
Good location a few minutes walk from the. Center of Brecon.
Gail, the owner was very friendly and helpful.
We stopped for the weekend for our 3rd wedding anniversary, Gail had made us a lovely cake to celebrate with. Nothing not to like
- Donald (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (9/5): Great value stay in old character building in Brecon - A great central location with free parking onsite, this characterful building is run by an exceptional host, Gail, for whom nothing was too much trouble. She had a wealth of local knowledge and ideas for days out locally, and treated us like a member of the family, going out of her way to provide amazing vegan food at breakfast as well as the traditional fare. It was handy having a small fridge for guest use for milk and other small items, and our room was comfortable. Brecon had many places to eat and drink, shops, a cinema and theatre, and is a great base from which to explore the Brecon Beacons. The local Aldi is just behind the borderers and is good to source pack-up lunch or snacks. Nice toiletries were provided in the accommodation. Our room had little storage if staying for more than a few days, but did have space under the bed for cases/holdalls/rucksacks, as well as a cupboard with hanging rail.
The parking access is through the building, which being old is quite narrow if you have a wide/large car.
- Rhian (10/5): The inn is old and it’s got character that is very evident. We had a lovely time. - We had an amazing stay at the Borderers. Gail the land lady was marvellous, what a lovely lady, she couldn’t do enough for us, and made sure we had everything we needed.
Breakfast was full English and “wow” it was beautiful and plenty of it. Gail offered pancakes, poached eggs anything you wanted. Plenty of tea and coffee.
The room was lovely, the inn is very old and is evident with beautiful beams everywhere. The bed was comfortable we slept well. Highly recommended
Thank you Gail.
- Lynn (9/5): Superb -
- Bill (10/5): Enjoyable - The most outstanding feature of our visit was the genuine warmth, friendship and total enthusiasm our host Gail had. Unfortunately the entrance gates are quite narrow and the amount of parking is a little limited.
- Jayne (10/5): Had a lovely relaxing time - Great location walking distance to town. Lovely and quiet . Lovely host couldn’t do enough for us . Definitely stay again
- Hayley (10/5): Wonderful stay in Brecon excellent location and the best breakfast - Had a lovely stay at Borderers
Facilities clean and comfortable location excellent
Gail host was fabulous went the extra mile for everything and cooked a fantastic breakfast
- Sharlene (10/5): A lovely and comfortable stay with friendly and accommodating hosts. Fabulous breakfast and cosy room. Will definitely b - The historic building. The comfortable bed.
- Andrew (9/5): Great welcome and superb location - Gail was absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for us - so helpful and welcoming. The breakfasts were good and the location superb, an easy hop to a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Parking is available, which is a plus given that street parking in Brecon is becoming quite restricted. The accommodation was quite basic, but suitable for our needs and reflected in the price. If you are a confident driver, the car park will pose no problems, being quite tight in parts, but do heed the request not to bring an SUV or estate, as they won’t fit!
- Pete (9/5): Great place to stay in Brecon - Very friendly host who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. The place is near the centre of Brecon and very quirky full of character.. Nothing
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (9/5): Just what we needed. - Gail was very friendly, welcoming & accommodating and gave us some good tips. The breakfast was lovely and the B&B was in a great location.
- David (10/5): Excellent accommodation and a friendly host. - Stayed here for a weekend walking with two friends. We had a triple room in a separate part of the building which was spacious and comfortable. It is located just a 5 minute walk from the town centre so is well located. Breakfasts were great and the host, Gail is an amazing and incredibly friendly multi talented lady. Will be staying here again.
- Mark (9/5): Comfortable accommodation with first class, helpful and friendly host - Lovely first class breakfast, prompt service from a super friendly and helpful host. Located really close to the centre of town. . It appeared the heating was switched off overnight so it was a little cold in the room in the morning.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast and hotel was great. Gail was an excellent hostess
- Martin (10/5): Just right! - We enjoyed a hearty breakfast, cooked to perfection just the way we liked. It was the ideal start to our walk. Our hostess welcomed us warmly and was incredibly helpful.
- Yestin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shirley (9/5): Superb - Gail the host was amazing nothing too much trouble and very knowledgeable about the area and the best places to eat.
Location is ideal for exploring Brecon
Would definately stay here again.
- William (9/5): Superb - Lovely people and a clean and comfortable room. Great breakfast from locally sourced products.
Safe parking for our motorbikes was a real plus.
- Toby (10/5): Wonderful host. Great food. Happy customer. - Cosy and humble accommodation made extra special by fantastic hosting. The owner clearly loves what she does and has a passion for looking after others. A long list of food intolerances was welcomed as a challenge and the result was a delicious journey through world cuisine, all served with a smile. Will use again for sure. It’s an old building, but that’s part of the charm.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (10/5): The hosts made a beautiful setting even more memorable. - Absolutely exceptional vegan breakfast from Gail. The other breakfasts were, also, well appreciated. Nothing
- Peng (10/5): Excellent location and Gail is a wonderful host, excellent breakfast - Excellent location right in town, convenient for visiting our friends. Clean and on suite with shower. We were able to park our car in the courtyard but there are parking spaces outside the property (first come first serve ). Gail was excellent host, advice where to visit in Brecon., friendly and cheerful. None
- Margaret (7/5): Good - Very welcoming hosts and excellent breakfast
- Meinir (10/5): Exceptional -
- keith (8/5): - Unfortunately had to cut our break short. Gayle was the hostess with the mostest.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Spent three lovely nights at the Borderers Inn. We would not hesitate to book this property if we found ourselves in the - Lovely B&B run by a delightful couple Gail and Kevin. We can’t say enough about how well we were taken care of by Gail during our three night stay. The breakfasts were lovely. Gail even made us an Indian breakfast for our last breakfast plus my regular full English! Room was comfortable with lots of room for our luggage in a spare bedroom. Nothing everything was perfect!
- Susan (10/5): Gail was warm and welcoming, wonderful stay thank you! - The owner of the hotel Gail was such a wonderful hostess, extremely helpful from the text prior to our arrival through to all of the information and local knowledge on our arrival. We were given the choice of room and tips on best places to eat. The room itself was very quirky and in keeping with the age and style of the building! The breakfast was superb, perfectly cooked with quality ingredients. The highlight was the homemade rhubarb and ginger jam! Gail takes the time to chat to her guests and makes them feel very comfortable, such a lovely lady! No issues at all
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verity (10/5): Thank you Gail! - Fantastic quirky building with lots of interesting history, breakfast was delicious with top quality local ingredients (amazing scrambled eggs!). Our room was spotless, great shower, comfortable pillows. But the star of the show is Gail, who went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful, she couldn't do enough. What a lovely, kind lady, and very very funny! Thank you Gail - we will be back! Everything was perfect!
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maryan (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): A wonderful owner who helped to make it an excellent place to stay. - Very good food at breakfast - wonderful old building which meant that stairs needed to be taken carefully.
Easy to walk in one direction to the army museum and in another to the town centre - a little further to the Cathedral. Nothing.
- Sarah (9/5): Highly recommend this as somewhere to stay in Brecon. Perfect for couples and families. - Lovely place! Very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. All round excellent value for money and a great location too. Gail the host was incredibly friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing!
- Carol (10/5): we enjoyed our stay and most of all we enjoyed the kindness of Gail who went out of her way to chat - the breakfast was superb and amazing choice on the menu everything was perfect and we could not have wished for more.
- Evans (10/5): Exceptional - Gail, the host, really is the jewel in the crown of the B&B. Incredibly friendly, warm and accommodating. We loved every minute of our stay and will certainly be returning. We only booked for 2 nights!
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - breakfast was excellent and so was the location and staying in a building that was very old enhanced the trip so close to all places of interest hosts gail and kevin could not do enough for you.
- Maggie (10/5): Lovely friendly place, hosts were very friendly and attentive. - Quirky, position to town centre and canal. Nothing
