Guest Reviews
- Rob (10/5): Prima en knus huisje. - Prima locatie op loopafstand van de 2 centra.
Prima keuken met alle faciliteiten.
Fijne douche. Voor ons was het bed iets te zacht maar dat blijft altijd iets persoonlijks.
- Kerry (10/5): Amazing cottage - Abigail was fantastic and communicated with us right from the get go. Left a beautiful flap jack which tasted amazing. Decor with sheep chuckled me. Accommodation was so cosy and was home from home and only a 5 mins walk to local Sainsbury's/coop. A shame we were only there for 2 nights could have easily stayed for 2 weeks. Highly recommended. N/a
- Rosemary (8/5): Cosy, quiet location - The location was excellent, situated an easy 10 minute walk from the villages of Windermere and Bowness. We appreciated a quiet place to sleep in a comfortable bed and it was easy to warm the cottage in cold weather.
Our hosts were friendly and available on site to welcome us and answer our questions. The cottage doesn’t have a hot plate for cooking food, just an airfryer and a microwave. This made us a bit restricted in what we could easily prepare to eat.
- Tineke (8/5): -
- Claire (9/5): - Well equipped, comfortable and in a great quiet location. Lovely Muffins and milk left for my arrival, a very nice touch. And very good communication with the owners, they sorted an issue straight away. Only small issue was the heating wasn’t on when I arrived and a window had been left open so the studio was very cold and took a while to warm up. But it was very cosy when it did.
- Marlow (9/5): Lovely cottage - Very clean and tidy and location
- Sharon (10/5): A perfect third stay at The Nook; can’t wait to re-book. - Location, size, facilities, decor and hospitality. Nothing I didn’t like.
- Patricia (6/5): Not what we expected - Self catering The bed was to small and the location was to far out from the shops and restaurants
- Jacqui (8/5): -
- GemmaL77 (8/5): Happy with our stay - Friendly host who gave us some good recommendations. Comfy bed and nice strong shower. Perfectly located between Windermere and Bowness. Has a car park, was a bit tricky getting our car up the slope! Plenty of on street parking so not an issue. There were a few items in the kitchen that were dusty or a bit dirty (a few bits of cutlery and a few cups) not a problem for us as we washed everything before use anyway.
- David (9/5): Very welcoming and kind hosts! - Very comfortable, with everything you need.
- Rami (10/5): - Great apartment, comfortable, clean, well equipped, great location.
- Merlinda (7/5): Beautiful cottage for a relaxing break. - Location was excellent. Andrew was friendly and welcoming and met us to hand over the keys and show us to the cottage. He then left us at the front door to explore, assuring us they were literally on-site if any issues. Loved the layout and size which was perfect for a couple. Sympathetically decorated and receiving good daylight even on cloudy days. All the facilites worked well and the place was very clean. Liked that it was easy enough to dry wet clothes downstairs and the shoe-rack etc were lovely little additions. Detailed welcome instructions as well as little welcome pack including home-baked muffins! Yum! Perfectly located midway between Windermere and Bowness. Bonus of charging for electric cars. Nice toiletries and a good shower. Really lovely cottage. Lack of door hooks in bedroom and bathroom. Would have expected better quality mattress and sofa for the cost per night as both were a little lumpy and saggy.
- tahir (10/5): Little sweet and homely - It was caousy and sweet the room. None
- Sanjay (9/5): Nice & comfortable stay - Generally a comfortable , nice place and very clean. Parking in the rear side a bit uncomfortable though the front option was fine. The furniture in the garden/patio just outside the front of cottage had missed out on being cleaned so had a few cobwebs, but otherwise fine
- Sarah (10/5): - We were self catering so we did not have breakfast with them.
Lovely, quiet, everything we needed was already there.
Would definately return and recommend to family and friends. N/A.
- Dolores (10/5): -
- Courtney (9/5): A fantastic stay in the lakes! - A very cosy stay. Amazing and welcoming guests (with fantastic baking skills!) The accommodation was roomy and spotless. We had everything we needed and it is situated in a superb location! The eco element and all the locally sourced products was an extra special touch! There was plenty of information provided about the local area and things to do! There is ample parking and a stunning outdoor area with plenty of seating surrounded by beautiful plants and decoration. The property itself is easily accessible whilst still being off the main road, making it very quiet and peaceful! The only thing that could be improved was the cooking facilities. The hot plates were hard to cook with as they lacked power and took ages to heat.
- Renata (9/5): - The Nook was very cozy with a lovely private garden. It had everything you might need. The location was perfect - just a little walk to the Windermere centre or the lake. We enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave!
- Darren (10/5): Excellent 3 say break in a lovely cottage - Excellent little cottage very well presented Everything fine
- Welland (9/5): - All very nice so quiet. Little dark in room but it was a lovely place
- Alan (10/5): Perfect place to stay for lake Windermere. - Excellent property for 2 with off road parking and within walking distance of Windermere and Bowness-On-Windermere. Nothing
- ian (10/5): -
- Rory (10/5): Absolutely perfect for a couples weekend away. - We were provided with everything you could need (utilities, kitchen utensils etc) as well as warm home baked muffins on arrival. The location is perfect for visiting Windermere. It took us 5minutes on the bus or a 10/15min walk to get to Windermere or down to the water in Bowness. The gentleman who greater us on arrival gave us a walm welcome and recommended loads of brilliant places to visit - our favourite was “Hole in t’ Wall” in Bowness (a lovely cosy pub est. 1612). From the property we could easily get buses to all corners of the Lakes and/or Ferries up to Ambelside, which is a beautiful little village.
We will absolutely be coming back in the future. Nothing!
- Jenna (9/5): Everything I needed, simple, clean and very comfortable -
- Phil (8/5): Beautiful Lake District location, Loved Bowness, Accomodation perfect - Great location, Lovely clean house with everything we needed. All Great.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Great cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Great hosts.
- Claire (10/5): Lovely cottage , easy to walk to everything. - Superb location, we walked into Windemere and Bowness, great to leave the car and walk. Quiet cottage with all the necessary equipment. Lovely cakes on arrival. Thanks for a great weekend. Nothing
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (10/5): Amazing hosts to a great property, ideal for a solo traveller! - Location, Size, Facilities
- Jennifer (9/5): Really lovely stay. Very convenient but private location - Everything was provided for and the location was great Could hear next door moving about, not voices just creeky floorboards.
- Anderson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Amazing and comfortable stay - We loved everything, location was fab and we throughly enjoyed our stay for New year. Nothing.
- Sharon (10/5): If the owners could have had a say on the weather….. even more perfect! - Cosy, practical, well equipped, warm, clean, quirky and perfect for me!
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chloe-alix (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cowan (10/5): Exceptional - So peaceful and in a good position to walk to windermere and Bowness within 15 minutes.
Room was spotless and had everything you needed including sky tv.
Worth every penny and a excellent breakfast . Nothing
- Josh (9/5): Perfect stay—amazing hosts, great location, unforgettable experience. - Our stay at Windermere and Ambleside for my partner's birthday was truly exceptional. Andrew and Abigail were delightful hosts—warm, welcoming, and thoughtful. The homemade muffins, courtesy of Abigail, were a delicious and personal touch. The location was perfect, with everything within walking distance, making it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and look forward to returning. Honestly, there was nothing we didn't like. Everything was fantastic—from the warm hospitality to the perfect location. It was a flawless stay, and we can't wait to return!
- Vanessa (10/5): Wow. Can’t explain how beautiful it is here. So welcoming and quiet and loved every minute. - From the moment we arrived and met Andrew and Abigail to the time we left was amazing. We booked “The Nook” and it was so spacious, immaculately clean and so beautifully decorated. The homemade muffins and fresh milk were a lovely touch. Andrew was amazing with the booking when I kept changing things as a first time traveller and was so accommodating and helpful through the whole process. So close to Windermere and Bowness so didn’t need the car. If ever we are back in the UK we will definitely stay here. Thankyou Andrew and Abigail. Nothing. It was perfect and had everything you needed. “The Nook” was a home away from home.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - The location was very convenient N/A
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (10/5): Little gem of a place - Lovely welcome with homemade muffins , spotlessly clean and well equipped. Would definitely book again Coming home
- Jason (9/5): Superb -

- Ls (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Musselwhite (9/5): Superb - Great cottage well equipped really comfortable The Rain
- David (8/5): Cranny 10th -12th July - Property was clean, modern, and cosy. Good location for town and Windermere. Creaky floors in property and also upstairs creaky. As a 6ft 4 man, the frame of the bottom of the bed was uncomfortble, my feet were overhanging and quite often banged feet against the frame in the night.
- Marie (10/5): A lovely place to unwind. - The cottage was very clean and tidy it was very comfortable with everything we needed. The owner had left us some homemade muffins to have on our arrival. There was nothing we didn't like everything was spot on.
- Nicola (9/5): Superb -
- Ted (9/5): Superb -
- Hossein (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (8/5): Well located private stay that lived up to its representation - Location, privacy and self catering were our requirements which this property delivered on all counts. Hosts were accessible and friendly . Property was well presented. Bed was quite hard and cooking facilities were very basic
- Justine (10/5): A lovely little hide away. - A little gem of an apartment with everything we could need.
The bed was so comfortable that both my husband and I had really good sleep, even on the first night.
The hosts were friendly and welcoming, even greeting us on arrival.
The apartment had to be the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Plus very tastefully decorated.
It was only a short walk in to town..
There was a parking area for our 2 motorcycles which was tucked out of site.
We really enjoyed our stay.
It was a perfect base to set off from for riding and walking. It's not that we didn't like anything but there were a few quirks.
The oven/hotplate took a bit of getting used to.
The parking was up a steep path which my little legs on a motorbike struggled with but it didn't put me off.
We loved our little home for the weekend 💕
- Diana (10/5): Abigail was very welcoming the was every thing we needed in the cottage. On arrival the was fresh milk and home made cak - We stayed at the studio cottage we found it very clean and the location was excellent not far to walk to Windermere or Bowness and some good local walks that you can do from the cottage.
- Anne (10/5): It was a perfect stay - Nicely located cosy warm and well thought out . It was all lovely
- Immy (8/5): Very good -
- Dominique (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect cosy cottage great location

- David (9/5): A lovely relaxing stay - The property is lovely and self contained with lots of space and all you need. The location is good for visiting the lakes. The proprietor was welcoming and happy to offer guidance if required. Access to parking may be difficult for some drivers. On road parking was available if preferred
- Gordon (10/5): Excellent stay in the lakes district - Quaint cottage was lovely. Very clean and comfortable, well fitted out. Location was an easy walk into Windermere.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed at the Nook for the Easter weekend, it was beautifully presented, extremely comfortable and perfectly located. It was equipped with everything you would need and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend staying here to family and friends.
- Tiffany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorna (9/5): A fantastic break in beautiful surrounding. - A lovely cottage which had bonus of being centre to both, Windermere and Bo’ness and Windermere
It had Wi-Fi and sky Tv which was a bonus.
It had everything for self catering and had milk, coffee and sugar as a welcome pack .with a piece of cake added in.
The surrounding gardens were lovely. And had a wee. seating area that you could enjoy
The communication before and after our stay, was great.
We met Andrew, who was telling us the story of the Nook.
Overall a exceptional place to stay😀 Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Excellent - No breakfast Nothing excellent
- Laurie (10/5): Lovely, clean little home from home . - We loved everything about our stay 😁
- Tracy (10/5): Perfection - Everything 😊we have already booked to return next year for longer . Cozy , very clean , comfy bed and central to everywhere . Abigail and Andrew are wonderful hosts . Nothing
- Desmond (9/5): Amazing and hospitable! Definitely coming back! - Everything. Stunning. N/a
- Carol (9/5): Superb - Beautiful cottage, warm, great location, fully appointed, garden space, comfortable bed .... just lovely . Er, nothing!
- Zxz76 (9/5): Superb - Very good location since just 10min by bus from the train station. Very quiet. The inside of the cottage is the same as the photos in Booking website. The full equipment kitchen for us to cook easily like in our own home. Very thankful the host agreed us could have the early check in at 13:00. The price is valuable.
- David (9/5): A very comfortable cottage that we enjoyed. - Very homely, well equipped property in a great location. Quiet but handy for both Windermere and Bowness. The bed was extremely comfortable and plenty of hot water. We found the layout not to our liking with a downstairs kitchen and everything else on the first floor but this is a personal preference. Stairs are quite steep but not a problem.
- Donald (8/5): Restful, comfy time in pleasant surroundings. - Well thought out accomodation. Car park access was scarily steep and narrow lane leading to it. Very tricky to turn round unless yours was the only car there.
- Philip (10/5): just a great visit - just great location
- Kirsty (10/5): Perfect stay - The cottage was quiet, cosy and very clean location was perfect
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage with everything you could need, owners were so welcoming and accommodating. Wish we could have stayed longer, would highly recommend.
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed here last week and was a fantastic little property, in a great position within walking distances of birth Windermere and Bowness. Landlord was very helpful and welcoming, and had set out local walks for us to do if we wished so. We loved the home baked cakes & pint of milk waiting for us on our arrival. Good supply of utensils, cleaning products and toiletries. Would definately stay again
- Diane (10/5): A perfect base for a short break. - This was wonderful from start to finish. When we arrived, our hosts greeted us, welcomed us in and thus began the most relaxing break we've had. The cottage is stunning, the decor is lovely, it is clean and well-presented. The kitchen has everything you could need, including extras like cake (!), milk, tea & coffee, washing up liquid, cloths etc etc, plus every utensil, plate and pan you could ever need. Upstairs, the living area was comfortable with Sky TV on offer. The bathroom was perfect and the bedroom was airy and very comfortable. There is a lovely private garden area with a table, perfect for eating outside, and a beautiful communal front garden which catches the evening sun. The location is ideal, about 15 minute walk down into Bowness, which really spoils you for choice in terms of restaurants and pubs, or about 5 minutes into Windermere, again lots of choice to eat. Regular buses pass by, although we walked everywhere. On this topic, the hosts have left some walks which can be accessed from the cottage - we tried one and found it very clear to follow and well worth the walk for the views over the lake. We have already been pestering about booking next year. Loved it! We didn't book for long enough! There's so much to do and see, but also perfect for relaxing and doing not very much - I needed more of this!
- Gemma (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy cottage. Good location.Well equipped with everything you need for a break. Nice private seating area, providing it doesn't rain. Private parking is a bit tight if you have a big vehicle, however, plenty of paring on the road right outside if you can't get in. Close to the centre of Windermere and only a short walk to Bowness. The cottage is well kept and comfy. The area is quiet, so you can chill out if you want. If it rains, it's nice to sit in with a drink and just watch TV or read a book. If the sun is out, leave the car in the car park, go for a walk, catch a boat to Ambleside, or go for a meal. The cottage is a great base for whatever you choose to do. Nothing.
- Nixon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tommy (8/5): Very good -
- Stanley (8/5): Great hosts location and cottage both perfect - Excellent
- Bernard (9/5): most enjoyable. would stay again - cost, clean and quiet was very hot in the bedroom. a fan would have made it more comfortable.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carly (9/5): excellent accommodation in a brilliant location between Windermere and Bowness on Windermere - it was a perfectly sized, beautifully equipped home ideal for a solo trip or as a couple, everything you need without space that you don’t, lovely courtyard garden, kitchen with a table, cosy living room, very comfortable bedroom
- Susan (9/5): Wonderful and beautiful scenery wherever you go. - The accomodation is compact but had everything we needed for our stay. It is ideally situated, approx 5 mins walk into windermere or approx 20 minute walk into bowness. Quiet area away from the hustle and bustle. The accomodation had a welcome pack of tea, milk and a lovely slice of homemade cake which was much appreciated after our journey and a lovely way to begin our holiday. Abigail and Andrew were lovely, wonderful hosts.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): Great accommodation - Has everything you need for a few nights stay, everything was clean, and had a homely feel.
- Margaret (9/5): Perfect spot for exploring Windermere. - House was spotless, bedroom lovely, kitchen wall equipped. Perfect for exploring Windermere and it's immediate Sofa had seen better times and frying pan needed replacing.

- Imogen (10/5): can’t wait to come back! - super cosy cottage with everything you’d need! the pictures don’t do it justice, it’s much bigger inside. the bedroom is great with the sky light and large bed.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Buzz (10/5): Amazing, Magical, Beautiful. - Andrew and Abigail were really lovely. And the Cottage was stunning. So much so, we booked another night.
