Excellent breakfast
10 - 15 min walk to Windermere or Bowness on Lake Windermere Driveway through to the parking space appeared quite narrow so l left my car on the main road infront of the Guest House.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent hotel - Firstly, Andrew and Abigale were exceptionally friendly hosts.
The hotel was very clean and and high end speck with extra little touches.
The food was exceptional, homemade bread, and granola made yoghurts, cakes, and buns thrown in.
Breakfast was made to a high standard made from local fresh products, The bedroom was large, well decorated with a large comfy bed , the bathroom with a bath, and an exceptionally good powerful shower .
The location was perfect, 10 mins walk into Windermere and a 15 min walk down into Bowness . I would highly recommend this lovely guest house for a well relaxing stay . 10/10 . Nothing all perfect.
- Stuart (10/5): Excellent stay and hosts were there if you needed them, never pushy . - Didn't have breakfast as we were eating quite late at night. Location is perfect as you're right in the middle of Windermere and Bowness. Stayed in this location twice now and will return. There was nothing that we didn't like.

Breakfast was cooked fresh every day and was lovely. We especially enjoyed the home-made muffins which could be taken for a tasty snack when out on the fells. Nothing. Keep doing what you’re doing.
- Nichola (10/5): - Great location for both Windermere and Bowness, parking, and very friendly owners. Nothing, all great.
- Erika (10/5): - Fabulous customer service
- Abigail (10/5): A very friendly place - The host were friendly and informative. The room was very clean and looked exactly like photos. They provide a lovely range of tea coffee and even hot chocolate. They have information on the room relating to the area which was perfect for a first time stay. Perfect location. Thank you The bed was very squeaky which sadly made for a disturbed sleep but it was comfy. The wardrobe didn’t seem to close or open very easily.
- Ralph (8/5): I would definitely recommend a stay and look forward to coming back in the future. - Very well presented Victorian property .The room was tastefully decorated and very neat and clean. This was my first time staying in Windermere stopping over for the night to break up my drive to visit my nephew and his wife on the west coast of Scotland to see in the new year.
I would definitely recommend this guest house to anyone. I had a very enjoyable stay with a very comfortable bed and en-suite facilities were immaculate. I could have done with a support handle to help with getting in and out of the shower, minor detail, but would have helped.

From the moment we walked through the door we felt comfortable and welcome. Andrew and Abigail are excellent hosts and make you feel relaxed from the very start. The home-made goodies were such a lovely touch, and the information on local walks and where to eat were very much appreciated. The room was wonderful - so comfortable with so much thought to everything you might need (I loved the make-up remover cloth). The breakfast selection was plentiful and the breakfast itself such excellent value for money and absolutely delicious. I cannot emphasise how much we enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be returning.
- CamieD (10/5): Wonderful experience! - Everything was perfect, and we couldn't ask for more! It's a quiet, wonderful place, with easy, walking access to both Windermere and Bowness, steps away from the bus stop. Both Abigail and Andrew would go extra miles to make you feel welcome and enjoy your stay, very helpful and professional.
We made beautiful memories, thank you so much!
- Brendan (10/5): - A genuine find and a wonderful couple of days stay in the gorgeously cute Ivythwaite Hotel. Everything perfect and the little additional touches wholly justify a 10/10 rating…..oh and the breakfast is as good as you’ll get in any 5 star property anywhere . Thank you Andrew and Abigail being such marvellous hosts.

The room was amazing and beautiful. It had everything we could have wished for. The breakfasts were amazing and obviously prepared with a lot of love and care. We are still obsessed with Abigail's banana chocolate chip muffins. The location is perfectly situated right between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, making everything very walkable whilst still being peaceful and quiet.
Thank you for the lovely stay!

- Yvonne (9/5): Charming, cosy and clean. - The rooms were charming, cosy and clean. Mini fridge in the room was a nice extra, as was the real coffee in the rooms. I like the commitment to reducing plastic waste with reusable water bottles. Breakfast was great, good quality selection and great value for £10. Really nice stay with pleasant hosts. The only negative is the entrance to the car park- a very narrow bumpy dirt track which may be an issue for wider/larger vehicles. However there is on road parking right outside.
- Blajek (5/5): Passable - Short stay, the homemade cake in the room was a nice touch Room very average, not the cleanest. Very uncomfortable squeaky bed.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional - The host were lovely The stairs
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - Ivythwaite Lodge was half way between Ambleside and Bowness which gave you the choice of walking to either town.
The breakfast at the guest house was excellent beautifully cooked and well presented. The hosts were really helpful and welcoming. The only thing missing was a lounge to sit in in the evening. We met some lovely people staying there and it would've been nice to catch up with them and chat about their adventures.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - I booked this trip for My Sister and her partner as a Christmas present. They both absolutely loved everyrhing in the hotel. The location was within equal walking distance of Windemere & Bowness, if you didn't want to walk, then the Bus Stop was 20m away and the Buses ran frequently all day.
Andrew & Abigail were the perfect hosts, the breakfast arrangement was great and the food was always tasty & Abigails muffins and granola pots will be sadly missed.
We could not fault the accommodation or the service provided by this attention to detail couple, they really made you feel like one of the family 10/10 😄 Having to leave.

- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Cosy comfort at Ivythwaite Lodge - I loved everything about Abigail & Andrew's beautiful guest house. Especially their hospitality & attention to detail. I had the ground floor room with ensuite. A cosy snuggly haven on some rainy days. All facilities were premium quality. Half way between Windermere & Bowness, a casual 10-15 min walk in either direction was eminently doable. The bus connection to the Lake or train/bus station was across the adjacent road, with Baddeley Clock as an easy landmark. It was a delight being greeted by Lola the cat & having special pats with Lottie the cocker spaniel. I appreciated the hosts' suggestions too. Just a lovely homely stay leaving me very satisfied with my first stay in the Lake District. Thanks for having me.

Car park at rear.
Andrew and Abigail were great hosts.
Breakfast was lovely Nothing
- Ben (10/5): A wonderful weekend away made truly memorable by Abigail and Andrew - Beautiful property with stunning features
- Stuart (10/5): - Ivythwaite Lodge is a beautiful house with many original features. It was a bonus to have a fridge in the room. We appreciated the warmth of the property and also the excellent service provided by Andrew and Abigail. The breakfasts were delicious and cooked options could be ordered the night before by text. Most of the food was locally sourced and Abigail’s home baking was great. The property was in a quiet location but easily accessible to Windermere and Bowness. The comfortable bed ( ours was a 4 poster) made for an excellent night’s sleep. If going to the area in the future we would certainly book again.
- Norma (10/5): Didn’t disappoint! - The hosts were very attentive, and the property was absolutely lovely. The food was excellent. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Jay (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the skylight in our room as it gives an abundance of natural light. The room is spacious and the jets on the bathtub is a welcome bonus after a very tiring day. However, the highlight of our stay is the breakfast. It is worth staying there just for that. Wished the tv was a smart tv but it's probably for the best
