• Gina (7/5): Felt cheated - The building is very well located, there are lots of restaurants, shops and cafes in the area. The breakfast was nice and included sweet and savory options - eggs, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, cheese. Drip coffee and teas were available and you could request a cappuccino. A complimentary bottle of water is also offered. ROOM # 8. Note that the rooms are all different in this building. As stated there is no elevator and there is no porter to help with your luggage. We were not comfortable with the kind lady at the receptionist carrying our heavy luggage. The plumbing is quite noisy in this building. This rating is for Room #8 which unfortunately did not meet my expectations. There is hardly any storage in this room. Although there appears to be a large closet, only 1/4 of the closet is accessible since one of the doors is nailed and the door that is accessible has a fridge and a safe in it. There is no table or dresser to lay a computer on in this room. The little buffet inside the room is fully occupied with the Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, cups and a daily complimentary bottle of water. The room has big bedside tables which block the closet door from opening and thus the door was nailed shut - Very unpractical for travelers trying to keep their clothes organized. As mentioned, this rating is for Room #8. If you stay at this local, you should not accept this room. The other room I booked had a full closet but no desk or table. When I asked for a table for my room, I was offered a chair since the local does not have extra furniture. My question is how do you design a room with a full closet and then block it because the side tables are in the way. I would not stay here again because I felt cheated since I was given a sub-standard room and paid the same price as the second room which was more functional. I was also asked but refused to pay for some minibar charges which I never consumed.

• Daniel (9/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal in einem gemütlichen und historischen Gemäuer inmitten der Altstadt. Das Frühstück ist perfekt und wird liebevoll zubereitet. Von hier aus lassen sich alle wesentlichen touristischen Ziele problemlos zu Fuß erreichen. Es ist die perfekte Unterkunft, um Lissabon's Altstadt kennenzulernen. Für ruheverwöhnte Menschen muss klar sein, dass eine Großstadt nie schläft. 😉

Tout était parfait et cela a contribué à notre agréable séjour à Lisbonne. Un peu de bruit en début de nuit mais globalement nous avons passé deux bonnes nuits.

• BARBARA (8/5): Highly recommend! Beautiful spacious rooms exceptionally well done with amazing staff. But read the fine print! - Amazing location and the rooms were stunning. So spacious and beautifully done. The staff was so accommodating, friendly and helpful. I adored the space and the breakfast was absolutely exceptional. It will send you off well sustained for a day of sightseeing. So good and well done. And I can say enough about the service. So good. Don’t expect a view. They warn about it but mine was very bad. I just left the billowy curtain blowing in the breeze and didn’t look out but don’t necessarily expect to sit on your terrace. Also read the policies! I don’t notice but you cannot eat or drink food in your room. I stayed for one night so not a big deal but if you stay for a few days you may want to bring back wine or snacks. They expressly forbid that. Unusual as I consider my hotel room my space if I choose to relax in the afternoon with some Portuguese wine.

• Frank and Kari (10/5): Memorable stay where history meets comfort - The heritage of the building has been kept in tact with care and purpose. The location is ideal for exploring the Chiado district. Everything was in walking distance. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were amazing. If wanting to explore further the Bolt rides were very reasonable. The staff were attentive to all guests in this intimate setting. Kritik was ever so helpful with restaurant suggestions and ensuring we were comfortable. The breakfasts provided a nice wake up with fresh fruit, cheeses, yogurts, fresh baked breads, home made preserves and eggs. It was about not liking, it was more about being prepared for the pump sound when we used water in the room. Once that was explained to us, it just became part of the story in being in this antique guest hotel.

Overall, the stay was good and the air conditioning issue was eventually resolved. However, on the first night the room could not be cooled (central system in winter mode), forcing us to sleep with the windows open, which caused noise, light and mosquitoes — significantly impacting our rest. What was most disappointing was the hotel’s response, as no compensation was offered. The partial refund was provided by Booking, not the hotel. Issues can happen, but the way they are handled makes all the difference

Excellent location in really nice area. Loved that it was a small hotel which didn't compromise on service or offering and an authentic vibe. Breakfast was more generous than had expected. Nothing didn't like. More than 1 bottle of water in the room would be good.

Die Zimmer sind sehr groß, sehr sauber und komfortabel. Es gibt einen sehr hübschen Frühstücksraum mit einem sehr leckeren und frischen kleinen Buffet. Bei uns blieben keine Wünsche offen. Den wirklichen Unterschied haben aber die Mitarbeitenden gemacht, die dafür gesorgt haben, dass wir uns von Anfang an gefühlt haben, als würden wir Freunde besuchen. Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden

We were delighted to meet her again on check out. Clean and spacious accommodation, very comfortable. Our room was near extraction units which were noisey particularly when the balcony window was open. Staff utility room close to the room we stayed in, alot of staff movement in this area. Also breakfast time is 8am to 10am. No flexibility prior to 8am..... Breakfast area very small only two people can comfortably optain food from the service area due to space constraints.

L hôtel est magnifique, décoré avec goût et d’une propreté irréprochable. La chambre est spacieuse confortable et parfaitement équipée. Le personnel mérite une mention spéciale: toujours souriant, disponible et soucieux du bien être des clients. On se sent réellement privilégié et pris en charge. • Thibaut (4/5): Bel hôtel mais insonorisation inexistante - Personnel attentif et agréable, l’emplacement était idéal pour les visites et les accès aux transports en commun, hôtel également proche de restaurants de qualité. L’insonorisation est horrible!!! Que ce soit avec les couloir: porte de la chambre ajourée sur 2cm en bas, local à linge en face de la chambre; ou avec l’extérieur: un bar sous la chambre. Ce n’est pas un hôtel de luxe d’accord mais à ce tarif je ne tolère. J’ai informé le personnel qui était désolé mais ils ne pouvaient rien faire ce que je comprends.

• Susana (8/5): Breve, confortable pero con aspectos a mejorar - El hotel está muy bien decorado y ofrece confort de forma general. La recepcionista Catarina nos atendió muy bien y se nota que es muy profesional. El desayuno había poca variedad pero todo muy fresco y rico. Aspectos a mejorar, por su localización céntrica no posee aparcamiento lo cual dificulta un poco el acceso con maletas una vez que Lisboa está formada por varias colinas y hacer el trayecto con maletas no es cómodo. Otro aspecto mejorar es que el Edificio no posee ascensor (menos mal que es un primer piso). Y por otro lado, pedí con antelación por chat que una delas habitaciones tuviesen camas separadas y también solicité el check-in más temprano de lo habitual debido al horario del vuelo. Ambas peticiones fueron aprobadas por Mohamed pero mi sorpresa fue al llegar y ver qué ninguna se había cumplido.

• Silvia (10/5): Zeer comfortabele kamer en knus kleinschalig hotel. - Wij hebben heerlijke dagen gehad in dit hotel. Zeer vriendelijk personeel, hele grote comfortabele kamer met fijne bedden. Ontbijt was goed verzorgd en elke dag net even iets anders waaruit je kon kiezen, de ontbijtruimte is knus en gezellig. De locatie van het hotel is top, leuke restaurants op loopafstand, metro en overig OV om de hoek. Je verblijft in het centrum, maar in de kamer is het rustig. Kortom heerlijk verblijf!

Kraaknet en super service Er was wel wat lawaai van de kamer boven ons. We hadden dit gemeld, en het personeel had hier wel proberen de nodige stappen voor te ondernemen. Ik veronderstel dat we dit erbij moeten nemen wanneer we in een oud charmante woning overnachten.

• Thomas (10/5): Best Boutique Hotel in Lisabon - Skønneste boutique hotel med blot 9 smagfulde værelser - beliggende centralt på lille plads i Chiado området - der var kælet for alle små detaljer og personalet var så imødekommende og hjælpsomme - morgenmaden var smukt anrettet i det gamle køkken med skønneste kakler og lækkert veltillavet mad og der blev hele tiden fyldt op og tilbudt et udvalg af varme drikke Lækre Rituals produkter på det store badeværelse, skønne tykke hvide håndklæder, morgenkåber og sutsko - vi elsker dette sted Vær opmærksom på at det hele er smagfuldt sat i stand, i en gammel kæmpe herskabsbolig, det betyder også at gulve kan knirke og at man kan høre en smule fra gangen - men dette er charmen ved dette skønne sted

Catryna was one of the most friendliest and genuine person, she gave amazing service, and always had time to answer questions or give recommendations. The hotels location is spot on, a really short walk to the start of the 28 tram stop, easy to walk to the major attractions. Short walk to Rossi train station where can get trains to Sintra from. Has plenty of metro stations nearby and is EUR1.90 if want to travel to airport or EUR7.90 for day pass including metro, trams and buses. Rooms are lovely and kept nice and clean! Breakfast is 10/10!! Great variety, all cooked fresh and constantly topped up!

Nothing to really say here as we genuinely had such a great stay here at this hotel, had everything we needed. Maybe Lisbon could have had a bit less rain. 😉 due to the storms that went across but did have some clearer skies on the last day!

• Karen (8/5): Een charmant hotel met een ruime kamer, lieve service en een fijne sfeer, waar we ondanks kleine minpuntjes echt van heb - Locatie was werkelijk perfect! Het hotel was wat ouder, maar zó leuk. We hadden een mooie, ruime kamer en hebben er echt van genoten! Catarina, de receptioniste, is werkelijk geweldig. Dat noem ik pas passie voor haar werk. Ze deelt alle informatie met liefde en helpt je met alles waar je haar om vraagt. Ze is oprecht betrokken en ontzettend behulpzaam. 5 sterren voor Catarina ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Zodra de eerste kamer bij de buren werd schoongemaakt, werd ik wakker. Je hoort helaas veel geluiden vanuit de gang, je hoorde elk gesprek en elke movement. Dat is jammer, want we kwamen juist voor de rust. Daardoor werden we iedere ochtend al rond 07:00 uur wakker.

Colazione perfetta, personale gentilissimo e in grado di rispondere ad ogni necessità. Ci siamo trovati benissimo e lo raccomandiamo tranquillamente. È stato perfetto per le nostre necessità, quindi non c'è nulla che non ci sia piaciuto. Devo, però, dire che ci siamo fermati solo due notti e la nostra esperienza si limita a questo.

• 617maureeno (10/5): Beautiful historic hotel - My husband and I stayed here for four nights in October 2025. We really enjoyed our stay! We arrived much too early to check in, but they allowed us to leave our bags while we went out to sightsee. Upon our return, we found our bags had already been moved into our room! That was great because our room was on the second floor. (Note there is no elevator here.) Our room was huge and beautiful with a large modern bathroom. Bed was comfy too. The hotel is right in the heart of the Chiado district, so it's walkable to many sights/restaurants and has easy access to public transportation. Breakfasts here were really great and the coffee was good too! The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Just a FYI, access to your room is with a key that you leave with reception when you go out. The hotel is not manned late at night (after 11:00?) so if you will be returning late after a night out, call them earlier to let them know so you'll know how to get your key. We were in a room on the same floor as the breakfast room but probably the room furthest from the breakfast area, so there was no noise as others have noted in their reviews. Parking in front of the hotel is basically impossible, except to unload or load luggage. If you have a car, there is a parking structure a block away and we were able to find parking there easily. José Avillez's three restaurants at Bairro do Avillez are a 2-minute walk up the street and they are all great. The hotel also is a very short walk to the Continente supermarket, A Brasileira do Chiado, and many more shops and dining options. We would absolutely stay here again
