Guest Reviews
- Deborah (10/5): - Great location, lovely atmosphere
- Tony (8/5): - Very nice
- Cynthia (6/5): - The Bell is presented well, Room was very nicely decorated , with some thoughtful touches , hairdryer in bag, iron and ironing board, and good quality toiletries … but a few housekeeping issues, blind on one window wasn’t working , one table lamp had a faulty bulb connection, really difficult to fill the large kettle in the small sink and only discovered very early on departure morning that there were no regular tea bags in the room ( too early to ask anyone for some as we were leaving very early, before breakfast service) sadly we found the room very noisy, both from the outside road and from the bar/ dining area downstairs, ( we asked to be moved but no other room option available) Disappointing as otherwise a well presented location…
- Helen (6/5): - Breakfast was good. Room not great for a deluxe room, no window at all only a velux.
Evening meal not and we were made to feel very unwelcome and told us they couldn't serve any more "walk ins" today. Explained we were staying there and that the person who checked us in sam we could come down for dinner up to 9pm (which it does say in the room brochure too) and it was only 7.30pm! Very reluctantly served us even though kitchen open until 8. The girl that served us was lovely, couldn't say the same for her colleagues. Won't be going again even though been going there for over 30 years.
- Mrs Caroline (10/5): - From our arrival to our departure we were made to feel very welcome, we had a lovely night's stay here. The staff were really friendly and helpful and greeted us warmly. The food was exceptional, we had an evening meal and breakfast with timely service and attention to detail. We thought the whole experience of our stay was great and nothing was too much trouble. There was a Farmers Market on in the grounds when we were leaving which seemed to be going well and I'd imagine would bring in more customers. A great idea.
Our bedroom was big with a big bathroom too, nice shower too. Lots of space, we had a comfortable night's sleep and even being over the pub and next to the road we didn't notice any noise in the later part of the night. We'd definitely recommend this lovely Pub with Rooms to anyone to stay. So glad we booked The Bell and thanks again to the manager and staff.
- Belinda (8/5): - Nice beer garden
- Paul (10/5): Great stay - Prompt easy check in. Lovely breakfast nice clean room with a comfortable bed. ideal location. Excellent meal in the evening was quite busy for a midweek so had a lovely atmosphere in there. Garden area lovely and spacious with plenty of outside seating
- Lynsey (10/5): Will return if in area - Spacious clean and fresh room, eat evening meal and was delicious as was breakfast. Staff helpful!
- YAOJING (10/5): - Room is very spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Gillian (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Beautiful place, wished we were staying longer. All areas tastefully decorated & the outside areas are lovely & private even though its a big area. Room 3 is lovely, comfy bed, again beautifully decorated but the shower, is huge & powerful. Heaven!! If we are in the area again, definitely staying here. Thanks to the fabulous staff too.
- Joanne (10/5): Excellent excellent ! - This place is amazing value. Lovely room and very large bathroom. Evening meal excellent so much choice. Best breakfast we have ever had. Got doggy welcome pack as well. Wish we had this pub as our local.I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
- Robert (10/5): Stop the music! - Great stay as always , but too much piped pop music in the bar which comes up through the floor and no-one needs more piped pop music at breakfast...its not a disco!
- Helen (10/5): - Great stay , really nice staff. Good food
- Kevin (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay enormously
- Sheila (10/5): - Excellent surroundings,,helpful and courteous staff.
The accommodation was clean and well maintained. And above all the food was excellent.
I would firmly recommend The Bell to anyone wanting a stay near Stratford upon Avon,
- Patricia (6/5): - Room 1 bedroom has no windows and no fresh air. It was given to a couple staying for 4 nights!! To replace it for the remaining 3 nights we were placed in the front room 6 on the main road. The staff didn't provide a welcome nor any care for our comfort. When asked for a box of tissues, it was not provided. Obviously the bar traffic makes up for poor attention to detail to those staying in the bedrooms.
As for the food, the Chicken Milanese was cooked twice and like leather. Even the salad portions were poor. We do not recommend this tavern for overnight stays, despite the obvious closeness to so many beautiful Cotswold villages and other venues. The lunch service and food was good.
- Alicia (8/5): - Food was lovely and love that there’s so many gluten free options. Disappointed that you didn’t have gluten free sausages for breakfast. Room was lovely just a shame that the windows are frosted as feels claustrophobic. Also quite noisy from room above. Pleased to have a bath in the room though.
- Dean (10/5): - Beautiful place . Definitely stay again
- Judy (10/5): - Beautiful position, clean and comfortable. Good food and service
- Adam (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Excellent menu choices fish, vegetarian if you don't eat meat. Clean well equipped rooms.
- Margo (10/5): Lovely Hotel and Pub! - Excellent restaurant!
- John (10/5): - Absolutely first class could not find a fault
- Margo (10/5): - Lovely country pub!
- Robert (10/5): Great Country Pub - I really enjoyed my stay. great pub, really great rooms.I can definitely recommend the Bell. Dinner was great, wine list extensive, atmosphere perfect.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the loud soul music played at at breakfast. No-one needs Marvin Gaye and Barry White at 7:30 am! Its not a disco! Breakfast in a quiet country pub should be a tranquil start to the day. if you must have music maybe some gentle Mozart, but better still, none at all!
- Daisy (10/5): - Amazing room! Spacious lots of home comforts included! 100% will be be rebooking for future trips
- David (10/5): Enjoyable stay for a birthday celebration - Great pub, with good food...had an evening mean and breakfast...and the room was really nice too!
- Allison (10/5): - It was a really lovely room and the breakfast was very good worth the money
- Sandra (10/5): The Bell - We had a wonderful stay at the Bell hotel room is comfortable decor beautiful we had food the pub too staff were lovely special thanks to Mack for the great service Will 100% return
- michelle (10/5): - Its a very busy pub however the food and service was top notch and the room and facilities were great!
- Penelope (10/5): Perfect Gem of a place to stay. - Absolutely amazing stay again at The Bell. The staff are so lovely. We take our little Yorkshire terrier dog and he is made so welcome. They put him treats and a bed in our room..Gave us a bucket with bottle of prosecco to take up to our room at the end of the evening (Was celebrating our anniversary)
The room is beautiful. Amazing double shower and roll top bath.
Food at the Bell is brilliant and the breakfast is delicious. We absolutely love staying here. Always go for a nice walk and to the church then back to settle in front of the fire.
There is nothing to fault at the Bell. Everything is perfect and the staff warm and friendly. Look forward to returning soon.
- Christine (10/5): - The pub was warm and welcoming with log fires. They were able to accommodate our request for an early check in. The room was large and comfortable with good facilities. The breakfast choice was good too. Would definitely stay again.
- Fiona (10/5): - Lovely stay. Very busy at the bar when we arrived but the staff were quick and professional.
The best Sunday meal I’ve had in a long time. Breakfast was perfect and service from many different staff was superb.
- Julie (10/5): - Lovely overnight stay on way back to Manchester from Cornwall. Beautiful room, large bathroom & comfortable bed.
Food excellent. Had an evening meal & cooked breakfast. Would stay again.
- Peter (8/5): - Pub was really nice - lively atmosphere good food/drink and the staff were fantastic. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff. Loved outdoor area as well very close to Stratford upon Avon.
Our rooms were well appointed, had everthing we needed, although could have been a little cleaner, but this was very quickly resolved.
Only issue was noise in our bedroom, as we were above the bar and noise from a busy main road.
- Nicholas (10/5): - This is such a top notch pub with beautiful rooms. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was well cooked and generous. Dinner was very nice too. Very little to fault at all.
The only tiny gripe I could make is that the shower in room 8 didn’t get hotter than warm. Other than that we had an excellent stay.
- Susan (10/5): - Outstanding hospitality, food, and lodging.
- Ian (8/5): - We had room one an it could do with updating. The room needs a overhaul. As for everything else couldn’t fault the place, staff an food were first class.
- Susan (10/5): - A very popular bar and restaurant but plenty of space for all in various more intimate areas. Really friendly and efficient staff.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Pat (8/5): Excellent food and service and good decor - Really good pub with rooms Rooms spacious and good decor Food and service really good The waitress who was an ex teacher was efficient helpful and friendly
Just 2 points the room was on main road and very noisy early in morning and the toilet with sink(,seperate shower area) the sink was very small and difficult to shave in
Overall a great find
- Robert (10/5): - A beautiful country pub/restaurant..in a lovely part of the Uk..Our room was perfect for our one stay. All the staff were so friendly. I would highly recommend to book this property..A little gem
- Julie (10/5): One night stopover - Room was good and comfortable but it was a very hot night and there was no air conditioning or any way to cool down. Windows open but people stood outside the window and smoked …. It wafted up Road noise too noisy
- John (10/5): Bell - Alderminster - Stunning - After a long day visiting customers, it was a perfect way to relax staying at the Bell.
Stunning location , brilliant sevice and a quite breath taking room
Next morning feeling refreshed for the nexts day visits .
Would recommended to anyone
- Kamini (10/5): Amazing staff - The staff make the place.. so friendly and accommodating, I felt right at home as soon as I arrived. The room was lovely.. the only down side for me was the lack of windows, just a skylight.
- Tim (10/5): - We rented four rooms for an annual reunion. The rooms are very comfortable, and the food very good with lots of gluten free options for me. Above all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Miss A L (10/5): - Room 3 was amazing, lovely bath! Dinner and breakfast was fab.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing hotel - Amazing place, food excellent, cosy with large garden space.
- Benjamin (10/5): Great choice - Very happy with our stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice done, spotless and well equipped. Will definitely choose The Bell if we are in the area again.
- Mark (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at The Bell. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The breakfasts we had were probably up there with our best ever. Well done chef and your team! Our room was in the converted barn section which was lovely. We only had one small issue with the bathroom radiator which we couldn't switch off. We reported it and was fixed the following day.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay. If we are ever in the area again we know where to stay. Thank you all.
- KNJ (10/5): Great find - Really lovely room above some spacious pub grounds. Great towels ams both a bath and walk in shower. Breakfast was first class.
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfect Pub - Just stunning country pub, great food, innovative menu, super easy going buzz. Dogs galore!
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent short stay - Excellent stay, room and food amazing
- Anthony (10/5): - Great room, friendly staff, excellent dinner
- P (10/5): BH getaway - Excellent getaway, great location and good food.
- Mike (10/5): Consistently Excellent - Love staying here. Super cosy bar, nice garden, great village location. The food is excellent and the rooms well appointed.
I've always found the service to be friendly and efficeint.
- Jill (10/5): Super stay - Everything was excellent. We stayed one night & didn’t get the breakfast included. Had dinner which I can thoroughly recommend. The breakfast we decide to get too was great. Setting lovely, wasn’t able to eat outside but wish we could have. If we are in the area again we will definitely book. Room super, only prob we had heating on high but sorted that.
- Tracey (10/5): Lovely place - Lovely place gorgeous rooms. Delicious food & very friendly helpful staff.
We didn’t mind but other than the pub there is nothing in the little village but easy to get to places from there. Just depends on what you are wanting from a mini break.
- kate (10/5): - Really great place, we stayed in the junior suite and loved it. Lovely garden and food in the pub both supper and breakfast was great. Highly recommend.
- Trudy (10/5): Fab return visit - Return visit as we enjoyed our stay so much last time. We were in room 1 this time. Not as big as room 3, but still comfortable, clean and well appointed. Breakfast again did not disappointed, with eggs Benedict and eggs royale on the menu as well as vegetarian options amongst other things. Staff are lovely, friendly and accommodating and a real asset to The Bell. We had dinner at The Bell and again it did not disappoint.
However, on the downside - the radiator in the ensuite could not be turned off or down and we ended up with the windows open all day/night. We prefer a separate shower to one over the bath. The room would benefit from a coffee machine (eg Nespresso).
Another great stay and we expect to return for yet another visit.
- K (10/5): A really good find - A lovely hotel in a nice village, but only a 10 minute drive into Stratford upon Avon. The pub itself is charming and the evening food was delicious. I would really recommend the chilli crispy beef salad, yummy. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night, but Friday was manic in the pub. It’s really popular and I preferred our more chilled evening on the Thursday. That said, the service was still good, just not as personal. Our room was lovely, very comfortable, excellent bed and linen. Very hot, but the radiators are easily adjusted. Breakfast was nice ,with a good choice. My only issue was that the bacon didn’t have much flavour. Service was also a bit more haphazard, for instance, we had to find some and ask for more coffee on both days. Not a problem, but maybe a bit more attention because everything else was lovely. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area. A real good find.
- Adrian (10/5): The Bell - Pub was beautiful evening meal v nice a good hearty breakfast rooms v good
- Dave and Helen (10/5): - We stayed for 1 night for ease into Stratford-Upon-Avon. The views are lovely. We didn't use the pub but looked welcoming so we will next time. The breakfast was great! Would stay again.
- sherilyn (10/5): happy customers - a friendly stay and we will return and recommend
- Christina (10/5): Good value for money and lovely location - Lovely spacious room, great facilities, excellent food and service. We hope to be back soon.
- Sharon (10/5): Lovely pub & upmarket rooms - Food, rooms and ambience all excellent. Very dog friendly - heaven for dog owners and lovers Justifiably busy but there was always somewhere to sit and relax with a drink. Staff friendly.
- Bill (10/5): Another overnight stay - We stayed the night after a biggish family birthday lunch . Not our first stay and certainly won’t be our last. We were in room 1 , which only had feluxstowe windows but was well ventilated and at the back so sheltered from roanouse . Comfortable bed , good bathroom and a really good breakfast , what’s not to like .
- Ann (10/5): - Spaceous bedroom with comfortable, firm bed and quality toiletries. Interior design and decoration of the room and pub was tasteful and in keeping with the age (16th century onwards) of the property. Staff available and very helpful, particularly changing room to meet mobility needs. Food excellent. We will definately return.
- Trudy (10/5): Fabulous place, fabulous staff - We loved our stay at The Bell. We stayed at a hotel far more expensive elsewhere and The Bell stood head and shoulders above that hotel. The room was big, well appointed and very clean. Toiletries by L’Occtaine provided. Proper sized thick fluffy towels, quality bedding. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fab. Large breakfast offering, freshly cooked as well as continental. Plentiful freshly ground coffee, tea and fruit juices and lots of toast and preserves. I had eggs royale and my husband eggs Benedict. Breakfast was very tasty, my only complain - egg yolks weren’t runny but that was a small price to pay for an excellent stay. We will be rebooking in again for a long weekend soon.
- Wendy (10/5): - The room was beautifully decorated and spacious as was the full ensuite bathroom...we also loved the food and drink and beautiful nature around!!
- Bill (10/5): The best overnighter around Dtratfird - We often overnight at the Bell so we are very familiar .room 4 was as comfortable as usual , comfy bed and a great bathroom.
Breakfast was just excellent
Well stay again soon
- Jessica (10/5): - Absolutely fantastic! Rooms are comfortable and adorable, food is delicious. Great outdoor area as well.
- Allison (10/5): Two night break - Nicely decorated comfortable room with a bath and a large shower. We particularly liked the private seating area outside the room. The breakfast was excellent.
- Paul (10/5): Reviews don't lie - Worthy of its high review status. All great plus a fantastic breakfast.
- Hiran (8/5): Great little getaway - Great stay at the Bell , room was ready before check in time. The pub it self is lovely and has lots of character to it!
The rooms little small but cosy and up to a good standard ,the room was clean and was tidy everything we went to breakfast which a good touch.
Breakfast was delicious and made fresh , the service was really good. Location only 10 mins away from Stratford centre.
- Paul (10/5): Great place good location - Another great stop at a fantastic place staff excellent couldn't do enough for us.
Fabulous breakfast with locally sourced produce.
Lovely to sit in the courtyard area for afternoon drinks with a wonderful view over the Fields.
A dog friendly place.
Bus stop is a minutes walk away to get into Stratford upon Avon
- Helen (10/5): Great place to stay. - Great find! In easy reach of Stratford, we had a lovely big room and gigantic bathroom. Lovely tub. Only slight issue (and nothing the hotel can do) is the speeds cars do through the village at night, and on a warm day when you’re facing on to that road made for a broken nights sleep. Such a shame for the residents of Alderminster, I feel for you! However, would book again without hesitation. Lovely food in the pub, and great service from the staff.
- Tonia (10/5): - All the staff were extremely helpful. The room well appointed and the breakfasts plentiful.Very well located for us whilst visiting family in Newbold on Stour….. we shall be returning!
- john (10/5): - always a warm welcome and the food is amazing
- Anthony (8/5): - Room was great, access to them was fine if you are fit and able to climb the exterior steps. Breakfast was fantastic. Overall good value stay
- Kay (10/5): Amazing - We had an overnight stay for my birthday, what a beautiful place. Our room was gorgeous, couldn’t fault it. Breakfast was perfect, staff really friendly. Already booked to come back! Thankyou for a wonderful stay!
- Susan (10/5): - Excellent on all counts - staff very helpful and friendly
- Carl (10/5): - Great room, friendly staff, good food.
- Bill (10/5): Excellent stopover hotel - Not our first time and it won’t be our last . Everything very good , only real issue is the road noise from the front rooms. It was very warm and the windows needed to be open , everything else really good
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Lovely old building with delightful terrace/garden and also larger separate smoking field. Very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Excellent menu (particularly breakfast) and beautifully spacious room.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Stopped here to break up a long journey. Couldn't have planned it any better comfortable room with plenty of little extras as a nice touch. Meal in the evening was excellent 👌 the courtyard was a really comfortable area for drinks with a lovely view. Breakfast was probably one of the best I have had with lots of local produce. Overall service was excellent
- Paul (10/5): Well recommended - Very comfortable room and very peaceful. Helpful and friendly staff
- Kath (10/5): - Excellent stay - bedroom was clean, decor very good, very up to date. Food ( especially the breakfast) was very good quality. Would recommend staying there
- Lisa (10/5): A real find - Lovely place. Beautiful room and we enjoyed a lovely dinner. Breakfast was spot on too.
- Giles (10/5): - Amazing stay - everything we want. Food amazing and rooms just right.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel and restaurant - Excellent service and staff and the food was superb
- Hemantkumar (6/5): - Great place to stay, excellent room and facilities. Sadly the cooked breakfast offering was very disappointing. So looking forward to a tasty cooked breakfast but not to be.
- Anna (10/5): Very nice place! - Very nice stay. Very accommodating and made our stay enjoyable for the whole time we were there
- Fiona (10/5): - Would highly recommend the bell . Clean rooms , excellent food and great service
- Kirsten (10/5): Fabulous find - 10/10 - This was a FANTASTIC stay and I would definitely recommend. A fabulous wee place that felt very luxe.
A particular mention to Callum who made check in a breeze and was very friendly, helpful and efficient.
The room (one) was a real delight and very comfortable.
I was staying on my own but spent a very enjoyable few hours having a delicious meal in the main bar, staff were excellent and very welcoming without being overbearing.
My only slightly negative comment would be that there was a sharp draught under the bedroom door so perhaps an excluder would make a great addition for the colder months.
- john (10/5): will be back - great service...excellent food, dinner and breakfast good choices..nothing to much trouble
- Robert (10/5): - We have stayed here previously so are returning guests. Rooms are well sized and clean, staff are all very friendly. Check in at the bar (could be better sign posted maybe). Great proximity to both Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds
- HELEN (10/5): Great for a weekend break - Great food and comfortable room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Lovely hotel , good food and service
- lisa (10/5): - Fabulous stay. Perfect for dog. Andy and Anne-Marie could not be more helpful. Food was lovely and room perfect
- Timothy (8/5): Fabulous barring the coffee …. - A lovely spot with a really nice vibe.
The food was good if a little predictable. They are better than “pub classics” but appear to have stayed with a safety first philosophy.
One big disappointment is the fact that no proper coffee / no coffee machine is served in the rooms.
Instant coffee … just lowers the tone sadly
