Guest Reviews
- Yuxuan (2/5): - The staff brutently tried to unlock my door while I was in the room without asking first, and she stated that according to her info I already checked out which is totally false information. Very disrespectful and unprofessional, won’t come back ever again.
- Venkata (10/5): - Breakfast and location
- Simon James (8/5): - A great property. Seems to cater for tours, but that didn't impact too much.
- James (10/5): - Easy and safe access to the apartment. Bed is super comfy! Grocery store right next door.
- Cheryl (6/5): - The location was nice. Close to Vik and the black sand beach which is what we wanted. I think the price of $600 for one night is crazy expensive. The room had 2 twin beds that we had to physically put together ourselves. No fridge in the room.
- Sandra (8/5): - Great place to stay. Very close to the town of Vik.
- lori (6/5): - Clean, nice pillows and mattress, good size room. They cater to buses. It’s hard to get a table to eat breakfast, tables are reserved for buses, very crowded.
- Melissa (8/5): - Big hotel with a long walk to the front desk and breakfast since we were in the 200 area. Showers were great with good water pressure and hot water. We had our laundry done. One load was $45 (ouch!). But if you want to wait you can do it at the Vik campsite. Breakfast was included but it would have been even better to have coffee available in our room since we were so far from the restaurant.
- Douglas (10/5): - A pleasant place to stay. Not fancy, but spotlessly clean, comfortable with very good food.
- Otto (10/5): - Nice lounge to relax in, spacious rooms, well stocked bar
- Barton (8/5): - Excellent staff during our visit. There was a large tour group the night of our stay so breakfast was a bit crowded the next morning; however, the staff was quick to restock the breakfast buffet and clear the tables. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful and welcoming.
- Ekaterina (10/5): - Excellent location near Vik. The room is small, but clean.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Was a great place to stay just outside Vík, close to the cliffs. Hotel has a great view point from the parking lot. Place was clean and staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a good variety of food and was a great way to start the day
- Linda (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- Lesley (10/5): - We had a great stay - breakfast was included and fine- they upgraded one of our rooms to the larger suite and it was great to have the extra space
- Arkadeep (10/5): - Amazing hotel with great comfy rooms, polite staff, very tasty breakfast options and gorgeous views.
- Cameron (6/5): - Staff at the front desk were a little rude. However, the location, views and restaurant were nice. Would recommend to anyone traveling to South Iceland just have to get past the front desk.
- Shirlee (4/5): - No washcloths provided. Whole plate is minimal and tired.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pricey for what it is but you have few choices her - Great breakfast. Old rooms. One outlet for charging, not near the beds. Cheap hairdryer with no heat settings, literally only blows “ air” when you squeeze the handle continuously. I expect more for $350 a night.
- Eliezer (8/5): - Very nice place to stop and rest
- Mark (6/5): Clean & Comfortable. - Fine for a night or two stay. Big room, nice bathroom. Only 10mins to town, lovely view. Hotel caters to big bus loads of people so we didn’t use the restaurant. It’s a buffet style for tour groups. Handy enough to pop into Vik tho. Clean and comfortable.
- Daksha (10/5): - Great Stay! Excellent breakfast spread! Perfect for Aurora viewing!
- Colin (8/5): - All good, only possible to get set menu for dinner and all 3 courses - we only wanted a main course
- Donna (10/5): - Construction outside my window .. people out there
- Mater (8/5): - Clean room and good view
- Chris (6/5): - This was a clean, perfectly fine, large hotel with no real character, that is mostly geared to large bus groups. It was expensive for what it provided and I would go with a guest house next time in this area. The generous dinner buffet was a shocking $7,500 isk / $60 us dollars for a standard buffet with meat and fish (sliced beef & salmon). I would definitely plan to eat elsewhere. We had great meals throughout Iceland for less than this every night.
It was nice that there was a bar and the bartender was actually fantastic. Great views from the hotel and restaurant.
- VISHNU (10/5): - Best place to stay if you’re around Vix
- Deborah (6/5): - The hotel is ideal for large groups but not particularly good for a couple like us . The restaurant is set up to cater for very large tour groups and feels more like a school dining room than a hotel .
our room faced to the rear which was fine but we were also close to an exit door which slammed every time someone came through it .
- Michele (6/5): - This Hotel was the most expensive we stayed in Iceland (all properties were expensive) and it was the most dated. The room and bathroom was dated and ‘scruffy’. The amenities were poor and the buffet dinner was average for approx 50 Euro per head. Breakfast was included and was good. In the photos the outlook looked beautiful - our room overlooked a scruffy Carpark! It was at a convenient part of our Iceland Road Trip but I would not recommend. I would look at other properties in the VIK area.
- Gail (10/5): - Good service and options for customers. Not fancy but clean.
- Andrea (10/5): - Staff was extremely helpful with activity ideas and offered to help us book our ferry reservation. Looking forward to returning
- Jamie (10/5): - This hotel is nestled in the most spectacular view location! The scenery is stunning! The property is clean and well maintained but a little dated. We only stayed one night but it was quiet and peaceful.
- Jeanette (10/5): - Very clean and spacious rooms! Enjoyed my stay.
- mary (4/5): - Hótel was more of a tour bus accommodation with big cafeteria not a dining room. Staff obviously not Icelandic natives because they are the most friendly wonderful people, not this staff but they are used to turning big groups.
I don”t recommend it.
Room basic with motel 6 towels and very expensive for what it is. Maybe the view is great but it was socked in on our visit.
- Michelle (8/5): - Wish we knew we had to make a reservation for dinner. Our room had almost no toilet paper.
- Sian (6/5): - Is an older property and a lot of tour buses stop here so can get crowded. The bed was comfy the room was clean.. the reception girl was not very friendly and it seemed everything was an issue or to hard so we stayed in our room the rest of the time. Guess she was having a bad day. Breakfast was really good had heaps of variety and plentiful not sure if I would stay again but was good for a stop over for a break in driving.
- Natalia (2/5): - There is no flexibility or consideration from the management. Poor communication.
- Lisa (6/5): - Not bad if you don’t have other options. Hotel caters to many bus tours for one night stays so the restaurant feels more like a cafeteria. Breakfast buffet is free and has many good options. Dinner is also buffet and food was average but quite pricey at 7500 kr per person. For that price we expected higher quality options. They have a bar but it’s not really designed to sit and have a drink at and there isn’t any outdoor patio.
Our room was spacious but lacked a mini fridge. And it smelled like sewer in the bathroom. Overall we were disappointed with this hotel especially since we booked two nights here.
Positives: great location just minutes from Vik, black sand beach, horseback riding, puffins at the peninsula, and the views are stunning.
- David (8/5): Expensive - A little pricey for an average hotel
- Kimberly (10/5): - Great stay, beautiful scenery, excellent breakfast -- so many options to choose from, and kept us full until supper time! The only thing missing was a fridge in our room (minor ... and the staff were happy to fill our ziplocs with ice to keep our cooler/foods we had for this roadtrip cool). Beautiful views of the ocean and short/easy drive into Vik. Would stay here again.
- Nidhi (10/5): - Short but comfortable stay. Staff reached out in advance of arrival to ensure the stay was comfortable.
- donna (10/5): - Quiet. Easy to get to
- Kevin (10/5): - Staying at the hotel was truly a memorable experience. The location offered the most spectacular views, particularly from the top of the hill. The scenery was breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Each morning, the breakfast provided was a delightful start to the day. The food was both delicious and well-prepared, offering a variety of options to suit every taste. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. Their customer service truly enhanced the overall experience, making us feel welcome. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a tranquil escape with stunning views and great service.
- Erin (10/5): - The room and bed were really comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
- John (8/5): - Enjoyed a pleasant stay. Good breakfast. Grand view of the ocean. It’s a large hotel and caters to tour groups. Four tour coaches were on site. If looking for a quaint location this might not be the hotel.
- Kara (8/5): - Convenient to Vic and cliffs to see puffins
- shirley (8/5): - Basic good hotel. Simple and exactly what we needed. Good breakfast spacious rooms.
- Anup (10/5): - Nice clean well maintained property
Great food options, especially breakfast
- Olga (10/5): - The service was great! Very clean room, tasty breakfast and amazing location with beautiful views!
- Joseph (10/5): - The restaurant was great.
- Pooja (10/5): - Great resort, loved it
- Rich (10/5): - Close to attractions
- Sandeep (10/5): - Nice breakfast and dinner options
- Paul (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Everything here was great! Beds were very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, work out room was great, location is superb. Couldn't ask for anything better.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Clean and comfortable. Large dining room with view. Included breakfast was good and service was too. Popular with tour groups. Easy to drive to local sights and local dining with several good restaurants within 12-15 minutes.
- Bruce (8/5): - Nice place to stay
- Sarah (6/5): - Great view and location. This is our second time staying here. The only thing is that if you book the quad room know that it says 4 beds but it’s really 2 beds and a futon that is folded down. So with teenagers who don’t want to share beds this was hard to do. We thought there would be 4 separate twins. We asked them to try to help move the futon into two twins but they never did.
- Clair (10/5): - The staff were really nice. Breakfast was great! It was a quick stay on our ring road trip
- Janis (6/5): - Clean room. Worn and outdated. Breakfast was crowded with guests from tour buses.
- Austin (10/5): - Beautiful view. Wonderful staff. Clean and fresh.
- Janet (8/5): - :) spacious luggage and bag counter/ seat in the room
:)
- Rishi (10/5): - I love this place - great staff and breakfast, tip ask for a good room facing the glacier
- Elaine (6/5): - Hotel smelt musty although clean and simple. Careful with shower floors as they are slippery when went. Breakfast was superfluous, staff were friendly but overall not cozy or personal. Location close to many sites.
- Samantha (6/5): - I like it
I think the price is right
- Jingchao (6/5): - This was the place I had the highest expectations for during my 10-day trip in Iceland, and it was also the most expensive per night — but unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disappointing. The surrounding environment was beautiful, and I truly appreciated that. However, the in-room facilities were extremely limited. The space felt cramped, and even the electric kettle couldn't boil enough water for a simple serving of noodles. Overall, the experience didn’t match the price or my expectations.
- Jian (4/5): - The hotel is not in good condition to charge such a higher fee!
- Sandra (8/5): Decent but overly priced for age of hotel - Hotel is very old. Carpet needs to be replaced. We were traveling in July but rooms were super warm and the only way to cool down was open the window but mosquitoes became an issue. Bathroom was updated and water pressure was good.
- Geraldine (10/5): - Great location for our Iceland road trip.
- ROGER (8/5): Busy hotel but fine for a night - Free parking outside. NB it is a large hotel with several sections so check in to find where you are staying before unloading. Reception staff were friendly and our room was in main building with restaurant. Surprisingly quiet and modern room. Comfortable with just the frequent issue in Iceland....the black out curtains lack sufficient material to fully cover the window, otherwise fine.
There are lots of tour groups in the hotel. We had booked a meal for 8pm which worked ok. Not greatly impressed with the quality of the offering in the buffet but it filled a hole. We were warned that the tour groups eat breakfast 7-8 so it gets crowded but we were ok at 8am and reasonable choice available. Staff working hard to keep on top of things.
- James (10/5): - Highly recommended
- Gloria (8/5): - Expensive hotel given the facilities. Very clean and nice staff but older hotel and basic decor and services.
Online it made it seem like you were right near/on the black sand beach but you are a 10 min drive away.
- Frankie (6/5): - Hótel has great views as it is up on a hill facing the Black Sand Beach, perfect stop for those heading East.
Hótel has some age, not much amenities but works for us just for one night. Cheaper rate than the hotels at Vik.
- Larry (10/5): - Wonderful property and amazing staff so accommodating and helpful!
- Kelly Ann (10/5): - The views from this guesthouse were beautiful. It’s perched on top of a hill and you’re able to look out onto the water and black sand beach. Loved how rustic the reception and bar was. The lounge area was so cool, filled with vintage furniture and needlepoints. Highly recommend staying here and talking to people from
all around the world in the lounge or breakfast area.
- Odion (8/5): - Pros: location is in a nice area of the country; friendly staff; great breakfast buffet options.
Cons: wish they had actual blackout blinds. It was quite bright in the room at 4 am.
Overall, pretty representative of a 3-star hotel.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean, quiet with amazing views. About a 10 min ride outside of Vik.
- Catherine (8/5): - This property was a great location, clean and simple. Very functional for our needs.
- Alisha (10/5): - Perfectly located hotel nestled atop a hill. Stunning views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. Our room was rather large and the beds were comfortable. During our stay we were able to watch the Northern lights from the hotel parking lot. Overall wonderful experience!
- Janice (10/5): - Wonderful location and beautiful views!
- Eugenie (10/5): - Hotel staff was very nice, room was really clean and views were impeccable.
- Emilie (6/5): - Over priced. We were expecting a high end hotel. Reminded me of an upgraded work camp.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Nice location for trying to see sights around Vik. Bit of an older hotel but for the price it was a good value and a decent stay. Would stay again
- Diana (10/5): - Wonderful breakfast
- Grier (10/5): - This is an easy to access hotel from ring road (route 1). Rooms were good, beds very nice. The property had good views if you take a walk, but the rooms did not. My one comments is this is very much a tour bus hotel. At least 5 busses of people were there when we were. This caused the dining rooms at dinner to be very full and breakfast to be very busy at times. We could not have dinner at property due to the number of bus groups having the buffet dinner and us not making reservations ahead of time, but the breakfast was excellent, it had by far the most fruit of any breakfast we had in Iceland.
- Tariq (10/5): - Everything was really nice, staff were really pleasant and helpful
- Jayla (10/5): - Amazing staff and the view is to die for!
- Lauren (10/5): - It was excellent
- Mary M (10/5): - Beautiful view!
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - The views from the hotel parking lot are fantastic. This is a great place to stay! We only stayed one night but found it to be comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The food that came with the free breakfast was delicious. Everything was on one floor, so you didn't need to drag your bags upstairs. Would stay here again.
- Nancy (6/5): - No thanks!
- Katherine (10/5): - Loved my stay at this hotel! Amazing location, staff were very friendly, and yummy breakfast every morning.
- omar (10/5): - The breakfast was great!
- Jair (8/5): - Very Spence
- Christophe (8/5): - Hotel was good but seems to receive a lot of “tour operator groups”. Somehow noisy as we can hear people talking in the corridor and doors slamming, but good buffet. We were disappointed to not have a table for diner although we did book plenty of time in advance.
- Vinujan (10/5): - Great location with amazing views.
Staff was so kind to pack us a lunch as we were unable to make the breakfast.
Check-in was also easy with much help from the front desk.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great view, decent room, but very poor and overpriced dinner buffet.
- Tom (10/5): - Great location, beautiful views of the Ocean on one side then a sweeping snow capped mountain range on the other. Room is nice, bed is comfy, overall a great experience
- Melissa (10/5): - Great views from the hotel. Friendly staff. Clean and comfy rooms.
- Katie (10/5): - Nice hotel with a good breakfast
- Youli (10/5): - I love this hotel. The location, the staff and the breakfast. It was the best night stay I experienced in Iceland.
