Guest Reviews
- Ian (9/5): Great location and friendly staff - Friendly Staff and clean rooms
- JimmyJetset (5/5): - Nice new build room, clean and tidy No wifi, restaurant closed without letting us know
- Creakyknees (10/5): Geat Inn with welcoming new owners. - Welome very friendly. Young staff very enthusiastic and smart. New owners hospitable. Dining room recently refurbished and very smart. Food (both dinner and breakfast) excellent, good value and plentiful. Interesting wine list with very reasonable prices. Our room on the ground floor was comfortable and had all we needed for a relaxing 3 night stay/
- Guest (8/5): - breakfast beds reception provided no instructions and showed customer disrespect
- Mark (8/5): Good stay - Well presented room, clean and tidy. Parking for your vehicle outside your door
Breakfast was good Restaurant not open on Monday
- Adele (10/5): -
- Frazer (7/5): -
- Karen (7/5): Was ok. - No breakfast available
Room was comfortable. No bottled water in the room. Lacking a few little extra toiletries in the bathroom. Ie. Face cloth. Yet let teabags not for me but that’s just personal taste As above. Bottled water few extra toiletries offer of purchasing breakfast
- Isabel (8/5): Very comfortable over night stay. - Cute room which was finished to a great standard. Nothing.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Louis (10/5): Excellent, definitely be coming back - Everything about our room was lovely! Really enjoyed our stay
- Colin (8/5): Overall the room was fantastic but I would avoid the restaurant - Location, staff, facilities. The bar was good , beer kept well and wine was delicious. The food was disappointing to say the least. Dry bread, oven chips, olives tasted a little old. I had the 8oz salmon fillet and it was more like a flat kipper, brown in colour and over cooked. I think the venue is trying to cut corners in the kitchen by serving low quality food.
- Alan (4/5): Disappointing - Nothing Under refurbishment and room i booked was given to someone else when it was allocated to myself
- Anonymous (4/5): Incredibly disappointing - It was clean and nicely decorated No breakfast was on offer and was not made clear on the website , nor was it communicated before arrival , nothing was offered not even toast or a cold pastry. The walls of the room was very thin so you can hear EVERYTHING from outside, the exit light on the door was way too bright so it was impossible to sleep, might as well sleep with the lights on all night, same thing. The blinds were not black out blinds so that didn't help either . The room was hot and the smaller windows in the bathroom or in the room couldn't be opened. I didn't feel safe opening the main window and I had to close the skylight because the rain was coming in.
So, starting my long work day hungry and exhausted is not my idea of a satisfactory stay especially for the price. I wouldn't class the Wheatsheaf Inn as a 4 star property.
- Stephen (9/5): Great atmosphere and lovely breakfast. -
- Janneh (9/5): I enjoyed my stay the beds were extremely comfortable and yeah can’t complain about anything👏🏾 -
- Stephen (8/5): Expensive probably won’t stay again unless the price drops or breakfast is reinstated in the price - We have stayed at the Wheatsheaf a few times the rooms are clean and comfortable We have stayed at the Wheatsheaf several times the price has always included a breakfast.. there was no breakfast this time and no reduction in the price to compensate for no breakfast
- Lewis (8/5): Very good -
- Rbm109 (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (7/5): Good - I had a 2-night stay here eating both times in the restaurant, The food was excellent and I couldn't complain The blumming flies, they were everywhere, the bar, restaurant and in the sleeping rooms. No Aircon in the room so had the window open but that just brought more flies in
- George (8/5): Good hotel in quiet location. Nice bar below rooms. -
- Steve (8/5): Overnight stay at wheatsheaf - Very nice rooms friendly helpful staff Not enough vegan options on menu or for breakfast
- Lucy (6/5): Was average. - The room was pleasant enough For a deluxe room it was very tatty.
Weren’t told before arrival that the restaurant wasn’t available as they were having works done.
TV didn’t work- asked them to look at but not sure they did. When it came to checking out couldn’t speak to anyone just had to leave the key on the bed so couldn’t discuss concerns about the room.
If you like being woken up early by noisy golfers then this is the place for you. Right near the golf club car park and 6am tee times are not great.
- Grant (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room amazing clean tidy bathroom beautiful added with the led light .adequate it look even better will defo be coming back Nothing
- Olga6913 (6/5): The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation. - Nice hotel for reasonable money. I chose the hotel with a restaurant specifically so that after driving for a long time, I don't have to go anywhere for dinner. It was utterly disappointing to find out that hotel is undergoing extensive renovation and the restaurant is closed. It was not mentioned anywhere on booking.com.
- Swift (7/5): Good - Clean room and quiet pub. Charged full price even though there was no breakfast due to a refurb
- Anonymous (10/5): Was exactly what was advertised - A nice warm cosy feel, bed was very comfortable and the power shower was amazing. We stayed in the Tatton Room. Nothing.
- Keira (9/5): Superb -
- George (7/5): Good - Comfortable Bed & good evening meal No grab handles in bath/shower felt a little unsafe/No Breakfast available because of refurbishment not their fault. Bub
- Dara (10/5): Cute inn in the countryside - Looks exactly like the image, staff was really lovely, shower was amazing. There was one grumpy staff member when I called for information.
- Philip (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chris (9/5): good - staff v helpful in allowing early check in so we could get to wedding and not come back mid celebration
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and beer, pity there was no breakfast but hopefully a temporary problem - Good clean and comfortable accommodation, good bathroom
Great pub, really good hand pumped beer and excellent food - best chips I’ve had! Disappointed that breakfast was not available during our visit, this seemed to be a temporary problem, but judging by the food on offer a breakfast would have been wonderful!
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- D (8/5): Very good - Dinner was good, home-cooked food at a decent price. The room was comfortable and good value too. Customer service was excellent. No breakfast available but I was warned and had a large dinner to make up for it!
- Michael (8/5): Very good - The room decor and facilities were excellent.
- Matthew (3/5): Poor -
- Perry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deepak (5/5): Just Okay - I booked a room with double bed, they joined two single beds, it was very uncomfortable as one mattress was low and other was high. Other things were fine.
- Helen (10/5): Comfortable & stylish furnishings. Friendly helpful staff - Comfortable & stylish furnishings
- Norman (9/5): Lovely area very tidy and welcoming for a small Hotel - Great stop over hotel and if any walks local great place to relax and enjoy the tranquillity to explore, we only had one night, but excellent room and facilities. Breakfast chef was not available so we skipped that and got on our way, I'm sure they have sorted it or will very soon.
- João (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (7/5): Good convenient overnight stay - The spacious room . Comfortable bed . Bathroom with spa bath Although aware breakfast wasn't available it was missed .

- Gordon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mclure (10/5): Exceptional - Was such a beautiful room loved it and the food was fantastic Nothing
- Heidi (8/5): Very nice rooms and staff very helpful and pleasant. Food excellent - The location was excellent for what we wanted. Breakfast too was also very good, altho a choice of cereal would have been good. The room was very well furnished but could have done with de-cobwebing! Also the blind at the window was broken and could not be pulled up.
- James (10/5): stoke one night - One overnight, use this hotel regularly so all good
- Linzi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marjorie (4/5): We would never stay here again. We were not offered another room or partial refund. - The food was great both for evening meal and at breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was clean. The room was in serious need of updating/refurbishment. Not evident from the photo. There was no handle on the toilet just a metal screw sticking out for a flush! Shower small and mouldy, we declined to use it. All furniture old, stained and chipped. Lighting poor for reading. Wallpaper coming away from the walls/ceiling.

- Tomasz (10/5): Exceptional - Pretty much everything about this place is great!
- Jason (8/5): Lovely staff and location in rural Staffordshire - Great local in rural Staffordshire with nice rooms. An excellent breakfast too! Due to the Inn being at the side of a main road, there was continued road noise from 6am onwards. The wifi in our room was poor so we had to use our own mobile signals.
- Gerry (7/5): I was busy during the days staying here and the Inn was welcoming, and friendly. I enjoyed m y stay - Food, both breakfast and dinner was good Lighting in the bedroom could have been better, i.e. brighter

- James (8/5): one night stay - Have used this hotel a few times before. Always clean and well presented.
Restaurant was busy and this led to delays.
- Thomas (6/5): Pleasant - The bathroom was dirty
- Lou (9/5): Excellent stay! - The bed was just so comfortable!!
Very pleasant, clean and welcoming.
- Sean (7/5): Good -

- Amanda (9/5): Great food, lovely staff and comfortable room for the night - Convenient location to break up an 8+ hour drive from Scotland to Kent not too far off M6.
Amazing delicious food! We had dinner and breakfast. Comfortable room. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff. No issues.
- Mikalha (9/5): Brilliant! - The staff was lovely, the place itself was very nice and had a beautiful, rustic feeling. Dinner and breakfast was absolutely out of this world!
The cocktails were a little expensive however they were really nice.
The room we had, had a jacuzzi style bath which was a brilliant feature!
The room itself was very nicely decorated and looked stunning, with a beautiful king size bed which was extremely comfy.
Will definitely be returning. 😊 If I was to be really picky I would just comment on the room needing a slight touch up of paint and also the doors of the wardrobe in the room don’t seem to be on right. Either way we will definitely be returning. 😊
- Valerie (8/5): Very good - Nice room and friendly staff No black out blinds. Breakfast no fruit or yoghurts and no cereal. Cooked breakfast sausages over cooked.
- Gail (6/5): Pleasant overnight stay and food was great - Food and especially breakfast, was delicious We arrived on a very cold night and our room was freezing. Radiator was turned on for us when we were shown our room (thank you) but would have been more welcoming if we felt like you were expecting us.
- Emma (10/5): Perfect 2 night stay - We have stayed here before, staff are lovely and friendly. The place is clean and the food is amazing Nothing to not like, it’s a hidden little Jem
- Lee (10/5): Not to be missed! Fantastic inn - Fantastic little venue for a quiet few days away. Superb staff, exceptionally good food and fantastic locals made the stay brilliant. Even if the young farmers did cause a slightly groggy head!
- Letitia (8/5): lovely, great value, great food, great cask asles - a lovely stay, not expensive either at £72 b and b, it a pub with rooms on a main road, despite other reviews we were not disturbed by either. We arrived very very early, byr were allowed to check in an early and get a few hours shut eye to recover from a long journey. We had a pre dinner drink, cask ales were on top form, cocktails were fun and imaginative, Food for 6 was excellent, staff were brilliant and friendly. Breakfast was amazing, beware the full cooked, top notch and huge, check out and cheerios were also lovely..thank you guys one thing we struggle to understand.. we had a table booked for 6 , 4 adults two youngsters for 6.00pm iirc, we asked if we could pull the time forward a bit for the children...there were plenty of empty tables.. but were told NO, as our table hadn't been allocated, then at the prescribed time, we were shown to a table that had been empty since 5.00pm... odd, but only a minor niggle
- jeremy (10/5): - Food was excellent, Staff really friendly and the room was clean. What more to say. Will be using again!
- Tom (10/5): Enjoyable stay over - I stayed in the Tatton room. A lovely room with some nice custom furniture.
I had food the steak burger (GF) which was really good.
I had the full english and the chef offered me alternatives for the things I couldn't have, which I really appreciated.
Lovely staff and a great venue.
- Movemybike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Movemybike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gwilym (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (5/5): Passable - Nice pub, good food and excellent breakfast included. Clean room and good parking. The double bed was made up of two single beds with a gap in the middle which was too uncomfortable to sleep on.
This should be made clear as the room is not a double, as advertised, but rather a twin. I wouldn't book again on this basis. The room was directly above the bar which was loud until late.
- Clive (10/5): Very easy - Very friendly staff, nice room
- Alsyapal (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional room great to have a jacuzzi bath !!! Nothing
