Guest Reviews
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Stewart (10/5): Absolute little diamond of a pub. Going of how busy it was they must be doing something right - Full of character and charm
- Ivan (9/5): - Friendly staff and an excellent pub serving good food and beer! All perfectly good, no complaints!
- Peter (8/5): Very pleasant stay. We will happily return - The hosts were lovely, & staff friendly and helpful. Family room a good size (though angled ceiling with low beams, which met my head on a couple of occasions!. Very good plain unpretentious bar food - Steak & ale pie particularly good.
Very good location - quiet but cloase to ipswich The beam in the ceiling. Roof skylights a bit tricky to open & pull blinds across.
- Bolland (9/5): Proper beer proper grub a warm welcome from staff well done !! - Clean modern accommodation pub smashing traditional country pub log burners n beans excellent outdoor area for smokers ! Whats not to like
- David (8/5): Classic pub stopover - Classic Suffolk pub, wood beams, open fires in March, good range of well kept beers on tap. Rooms in an annex so nice a quiet. Landlord, staff and clientele friendly and helpful, good range of pub classics for dinner, excellent full English breakfast. Secure bike parking a plus for cyclists. For the price, a real deal. Shower was a bit utilitarian (fixed spout on wall), not ideal for 6ft+ cyclists, but very clean and lots of hot water, so a very small niggle.
- Jan (5/5): Alright for a one night stay. - Breakfast was OK. Would have liked an ensuite bathroom in our room.
We had to share the bathroom with other people.
Door to our room did not lock properly.
- Morgan-Harris (8/5): - Spacious and perfect for the family
Great location

- Janette (8/5): Lovely pub with accommodation and good menu and food. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation block was right next to the pub but slightly detached so perfect. Plenty of parking. We ate when we got there so that was very convenient and good menu with lots of choice and large portions. Obviously a popular place as busy so nice atmosphere and lovely old fashioned pub with atmosphere. Easy to pick up main roads from there and get round location. Had the breakfast in the morning and that was good. No complaints at all.

- Tom (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff Lovely ensuite room cramped by unnecessary chest of drawers
- richard (10/5): -
- darron (10/5): - Very helpful regarding food as had issues elsewhere (chippy) no limit on card payments A suggestion would be to leave a hook for windows so you can make a choice to shut or leave open (road. Traffic)

- PAOLO (7/5): -
- Bryan (8/5): For me it was in a good location and good value for money. - They were very helpful and respectful.
- James (10/5): - We stayed for just one night and had no complaints whatsoever. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and we left feeling well-rested. Bed was comfortable. I would recommend it. Although we had a shared bathroom, it was spotless, well-maintained, and perfectly functional—so it didn’t affect our stay at all. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic beer garden, overall great.
- Paul (10/5): - Stayed on business for one night. Great welcome and great food at the bar. Room was clean and tidy if a little tired. Would definitely stay again though.

- ANNA-MARIE (10/5): comfy hotel - The staff where very friendly and the room was comfy, and it was quiet. food was excellent
- Michael (8/5): - For the price I can’t really complain and this was really just a bed for the night as we had to be somewhere local early next morning.
We did not get the room we booked & initially were given a twin room. The lady found us a tight double room but this was upstairs and next to a couple of rooms that shared a bathroom in the hall. I lost count of the times the doors slammed during the night.
However our room and bathroom were very clean just dated.
Breakfast was great and all the staff during our stay were very pleasant, friendly & helpful.
If you are looking to eat in the restaurant then best to book as this was very popular with the locals
- Alfred (8/5): Very good -
- Teodor (7/5): Good -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (10/5): A gem of a pub - It's a quaint pub that has good beer and food. The team ( I don't like the word staff) are wonderful, attentive and friendly. Super landlord who was interesting to chat with abd again very helpful.
Food choices were great, lots of options, and all locally sourced. Breakfast was super and set you up for the day
The beds were comfy, and the showers worked. Proper bathsheets are provided.
Super large car park Nothing
- Wendy (8/5): Perfect location for an overnight sleep whilst en route to our destination. - Perfect location for us. Interesting items within the pub that sparked conversation! Lovely big bedroom and comfy bed. Big fluffy white towels. Helpful, obliging staff. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like.
- Linda (10/5): - Very clean throughout. Food excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.
- Jane (7/5): The accommodation met our needs and food was very good. - The location was good and the staff were very friendly. Excellent food! The room was a bit shabby and the beds very small. Old and a bit tired furniture and the shower was a bit dirty.
- David (9/5): Lovely place to stay, would highly recommend for those travelling in the area. - Location, great atmosphere.
Nice food
- Loudon (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful area, lovely old pub/restaurant…huge garden area…loads of parking…definitely recommend.

- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Dan (10/5): Perfect - Well run , good food
- Zac (10/5): - This was my second visit. I love staying here. The staff are most welcoming, as are the locals. The hospitality, food and beers are all excellent. The hotel building, bar, restaurant and grounds are most pleasant. The cuisine was served quickly and is very tasty. It is in a lovely place, which is quiet and also not too far from the town. It is also easily accessible. Very easy going and no complications. If I go to Ipswich again I will stay at The Sorrell Horse again!
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the pub, we didn’t get food as we had plans for the day but looked amazing. The bed was the best bed I’ve ever slept on

- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room and great host. Very welcoming with a superb full English for breakfast
- Ka-yee (8/5): - Apart from being a little far from town, we couldn't complain. The floorboards are quite creaky so it was loud when people walked upstairs. Bathroom was very clean, the shower was quite tight but the temperature was good. The breakfast was lovely. Staff were very helpful and friendly
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Short business break - Great staff, food and drink options, just the room
- Sarah (10/5): Nice relaxing pub nice outside garden - Lovely breakfast
Nice bar
Friendly staff
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (7/5): Good - Friendly staff and good facilities
- Linda (7/5): Good - I came for a wedding that was happening nearby so it was the closest place to the wedding venue. It was a nice little inn with a cute little outdoor area and pub. It was lively but not rowdy in the evenings. The room was comfortable except for the fact that i stayed on one of the hottest days of the year and there was no fan or AC making the room feel like a sauna. But overall i was quite happy with my stay. Neil was especially kind to even give us a ride to the nearby wedding venue. Thank you for the pleasant stay. Needs at least a fan or AC for the summer.
- David (7/5): Good -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Heath (10/5): - Very pleased with our stay, the accomodation and hospitality.

- Peter (9/5): I would certainly recommend the Sorrell Horse Inn for short breaks. - The bar staff and breakfast crew were excellent and extremely friendly. Food was plentiful and top quality as was the Abbott Ale !! Good atmosphere in the bar. Creaky floor boards and the bedrooms could do with a facelift.
- Clive (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goodwalkerme (10/5): A very comfortable location for my 💯 Challenge walk event which took place from Ipswich Suffolk - The excellent Staff,The food was outstanding with a excellent menu
- Allan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (8/5): As you would want - Friendly staff. Good food Nothing it was fine
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (7/5): Nice stay, great little place just needs the rooms updating and it’d be spot on - The rooms were clean and the staff were very nice. Food was prompt and the drinks section was great. Breakfast was nice too. The rooms were very dated and in need of renovation. There was a damp smell in the bathroom but keeping the door and window open solved that for when I returned.
- Jennifer (8/5): Friendly place, beautiful part of the world. - The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. We were only there for one night, and the place was busy when we arrived but they went out of their way to give us something to eat quickly before we dashed to the wedding we were going to. I had forgotten that we had a shared bathroom so my fault! It was very clean and we were able to use it when we needed to so wasn't a problem.
- Darryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (6/5): Adequate for our needs - Location was good for purpose of visit. Good breakfast. Ground floor. Bathroom and shower good size. Staff very pleasant. Room very small. Could hardly move round bed. Needs refurbishing. Room not serviced on second day.
