• R. Bergmann (9/5): Ein sehr schönes Hotel für ein paar Nächte im Elsass - Schöne grosse Zimmer, die gut ausgestattet sind. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und umfangreich. Das Personal ist äußerst nett, hilfsbereit und kundenorientiert.

And wait to try the breakfast... 😉 I came back without any hesitations. If you can, book a table at their restaurant a bit in advance - either on arrival or a few days before -. Excellent place to stay and located conveniently in this area. -
• Patrick (9/5): Landhotel mit herausragendem Restaurant - Liebevolle, individuelle Zimmer. Alles sehr sauber. Das Personal ist super zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Abends unbedingt im Hotel eigenen Restaurant essen. Das ist ein Highlight. Die Lage ist sehr idyllisch, jedoch kann man die benachbarte Landstraße nachts etwas stärkt wahrnehmen. Der Wellnessbereich und Fitnessraum sind leider gebührenpflichtig, in dieser Preislage wäre es schön wenn es inklusive wäre.

M'a envoyé dans un restaurant proche en ayant pris soin d'appeler l'établissement lui-même. Maison cossue de l'extérieur, grand confort à l'intérieur, boiserie brute de qualité dans la chambre, literie impeccable, wifi gratuit, salle à manger lumineuse, petit dèj copieux et délicieux. rien ! l'hôtel s'agrandit mais les travaux sont presque invisibles et inaudibles tant le chantier semble calme !

Sowohl die Hunde vor Ort als auch die Schafe am Eingang haben, ein idyllisches Flair vermittelt. Hotel war derzeit in Renovierung, was nicht kommuniziert wurde. Es handelt sich zwar um ein Nebengebäude, aber trotzdem sichtbar. Es war trotzdem kein Baulärm zu vernehmen.

• Katrin (8/5): Wir würden die Auberge wieder wählen… wenn der Anbau fertig ist und diesmal auf das Frühstück verzichten. - Zimmerausstattung war sehr gut, großzügig, sauber und geschmackvoll! Lage grundsätzlich gut, zentral und doch grün, aber direkt an einer Durchgangsstraße. Gerade wird angebaut…teils Baustelle mit den dazugehörigen Geräuschen. Das Frühstück für 22€ pro Person in angenehmem Ambiente, aber ohne Abwechslung und überteuert.

Gleich an der Hauptverkehrsstraße wars extrem laut. Keine Chance, das Fenster zu öffnen. Das Zimmer klein, unterm Dach und stickig. Kein Aufzug, so haben wir unser Gepäck schleppen müssen! Abends keine Aufenthaltsqualität - das Restaurant war geschlossen! Für 4 Sterne und diesen Preis ein Flopppppp!

• Peter (6/5): Matig - Het is op zich een mooie karakteristieke, oude herberg. Het plafond in de kamer is heel apart. De ontbijtruimte met de oude grote openhaard is sfeervol. De mevrouw van het ontbijt was zeer vriendelijk. Het zwembad is mooi, helaas vanwege minder goed weer hier geen gebruik van kunnen maken. De locatie! wat een verschrikkelijke drukke D weg. Het hotel ligt pal op een kruispunt van deze drukke weg. Bij het buiten zitten op de binnenplaats zie je de auto's niet maar hoor je ze des te meer! Als we dit geweten hadden dan zouden we dit hotel zeker niet geboekt hebben. De weg is nergens te zien op de foto's. Jammer van de locatie! Met open raam slapen is hierdoor geen optie. Helaas werkte de airco niet goed. Hij maakt herrie alsof er een vliegtuig opstijgt maar koelt nauwelijks. Fijn dat er een restaurant bij is. De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is echter heel slecht. Vreselijk duur gegeten en gedronken voor niks bijzonders! Voor dit bedrag kun je in Selestat vele malen beter eten voor minder geld. Geen aanrader.
• Henriikka (10/5): - Aamiainen oli erinomainen ja palvelu hyvää. Allasalue oli sympaattinen ja koko pihapiiri oli erittäin kaunis, viihdyimme oikein hyvin. Hotellin ravintolassa saimme luultavasti koko matkan parhaat ruuat, suosittelen lämpimästi. Hotelli oli tietysti pieni eikä henkilökunta voinut päivystää koko aikaa paikalla, joskus kuitenkin tuntui että henkilökuntaa ei löytynyt mistään ja esimerkiksi illallisaikojen ulkopuolella oli vaikeaa tilata vaikkapa juomaa. Tällaista palvelualttiutta olisin toivonut enemmän.

• Waltraud (10/5): - Die Zimmer finden wir im Gegensatz zu anderen Bewerter*innen super liebervoll, nett und im kleinsten Detail eingerichtet. Service und Empfang super nett und der Standort ist ja, wenn man es auf der Karte sieht eh klar, man geht dort hin um Ruhe und Enspannung zu haben und nicht Party zu feiern. Wir waren zu unserer Verlobungsreise, Hochtzeitsreise und von 15 Jahren mit unseren Kindern dort. Jedes mal ein Genuss. Dieses mal wollten wir 2 Tage das vorzügliche Abendessen geniessen, ich jedoch war zu doof, zu erkennen, dass Dienstag und Mittwoch die Küche geschlossen ist. Wir fragten, ob wir von den 2 gebuchten Tagen auf 1 reduzieren können. Wurde ohne murren und Aufpreis gemacht. Super Entgegenkommen. Wir kommen gerne im Frühjahr wieder, aber diesmal nicht Dienstag oder Mittwoch. Ach ja, das Frühstück war ebenfalls ein Höhepunkt, mit einem Lächeln empfangen, Brot, Wurst, Käse Obst auch Vegan möglich. Verabschiedet auch mit einem Lächeln und dem Hinweis, dass unser Tag hoffentlich für uns sehr schön wird. Das wurde er auch dank den Menschen vom Hotel L' Illwald. Hört nicht auf die negativen Bewertungen, L`llwald ist ein Erlebnis. Danke.

• David (9/5): Beautiful hotel - A beautiful place run by friendly owner and staff. We ate one of the best French food we ever had at their restaurant. Breakfast was also amazing. The staff helped us perfectly with all our requests. Rooms can be quite warm at night. The airconditioning doesn’t do much and you won’t open a window because of the mosquitoes and the noisy road nearby. We found the place amazing, thought a bit secluded. Not much to see or do in the direct surroundings.

Our room was facing busy street and was loud. It was also small and very hot. Not very friendly staff during dinner. Reserved the table and indicated that we are coming with small baby but when we came there was no baby chair. Menu was only available in French. No possibility for later check- out even if you want to pay for it. Overall not very customer-oriented and friendly.

• Sarah (7/5): Wonderful hotel restaurant, good for short stay in Alsace - The restaurant was lovely, a peaceful and fairly intimate setting. We were initially shown to a table at the back which is in a room with quite a different setting (much brighter and not as inviting), however we asked to move into the main restaurant and were gladly seated at a cosy table. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was also very good – plenty of choice, high quality, though pricey. The room was a decent size and very clean and peaceful. The decor felt more basic than we had expected for the price. It seems that some rooms are decorated with a simpler, more modern decor than others. The location was fine – a good base for exploring Seléstat and nearby Colmar, however the hotel restaurant was closed on the day we arrived (which we were alerted to in advance of our arrival) but we didn't realise there weren't any taxis in the area, so our dinner plans were limited for the first night of our stay.

• Karina (9/5): Superb - A beautiful property located conveniently between in the quiet countryside, but not far from Colmar and wine route, with a fast connection to Alsacian and German towns. Lots of parking space incl. chargers for electric cars. Fantastic, big and tastefully furnished rooms. Great, attentive staff. Very good breakfast. Highly recommend for weekend stays if you`re looking for a nice place to calm and relax afer a busy day in the city. Make sure you prebook your meals- as dinner times are very busy and it`s problematic to accomodate someone last minute. Take the earplugs if you`re a light sleeper like me- it`s an old manor house and walls are not very thick; you will hear people walking up/down the stairs, some conversations, etc. Luckily, the beds are super comfy and will accomodate for the noise:)

• Kathleen (10/5): Savoring the Moment in Charming Auberge in the Alsatian Countryside - Located in a beautiful bucolic setting a short drive away from the historic town of Selestat. The charming hotel and restaurant complex are traditional with all the modern conveniences. The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable, and serenely quiet. The restaurant is outstanding. The breakfast is wonderful and served in a lovely cozy room. Parking is ample and safe. There are charging stations available. Hotel is located close to the Rhine, L'Illwald forest, Selestat, Alsace Wine Route and Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. Good location for cycling, walking in woods, and canoeing.

The restaurant is absolutely worth to visit. We also appreciated the pool. The hotel is located in a very beautiful building.

The room had some stairs in it, which didn't show on the photos and you had to sleep upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs. The bathroom didn't have a shower, only a bath, which booking.com said there should have been. And the room didn't have airco, which also was stated by booking. The pool was freezing, although it was very hot outside. The restaurant is good but expensive beyond believe.

And the best restaurant we visited during our holiday in France. Very quick and polite serving and fantastic food. Very good breakfast served at the table, and a lady waited us with coffee etc. The buildings, furniture, decorations and inner yard are all charming and with style. Nice little pool perfect to cool your body and well kept spa area. The host took his time to talk to us about local matters when he had a quiet moment. He provided us with maps of cycling routes in the area, produced by the hotel. Great service as we brought our own bikes. Free parking for cars. Only problem was the main road close to the hotel with traffic noise and cars driving too fast. It would be good for the hotel and everyone else to lower the speed limit on that main road.

No restaurant on the Wednesday we were there, but we had a nice trip into Selestat. Wi-Fi was weak. Overall a nice stopover in a hotel run by nice people. Only weak Wi-Fi.
• Sandra (10/5): The perfect stop1over stay with friendly, attentive staff & delicious local delicacies! - It’s a family-run auberge, with a pool and air conditioning which in the summer, is a bonus. It was relaxing & calm set in beautiful countryside and grounds. Restaurant was good. It was all positive!
