• Hilmar (9/5): Mjög þægileg og ánægjuleg dvöl í alla staði. - Dvölin á Fosshotel Stykkishólmur var mjög góð. Hótelið var snyrtilegt, þægilegt og þjónustan til fyrirmyndar. Starfsfólkið var kurteist og hjálplegt og allt skipulag gekk vel. Við höfum ekkert neikvætt að segja um dvölina.

This is a 3 start out of 5. Whew, this place is dated. Bright-foam furniture with worn coverings, discolored bathroom caulk. Eye-watering price, at over $400 USD, for nothing special, nothing more than at newer and remodeled hotels priced up to 40% less, perhaps there is not enough hotel supply in the town.

• cambridgeb2024 (10/5): Super - and the receptionist alerted us to the presence of the northern lights so we saw those! Lovely hotel. - Really great place. Best thing for us was the fact that the restaurant catered for gluten free diets (three of us have coeliac's disease).
• 971desislavap (2/5): A huge disappointment – not the same place anymore - We returned to Fosshotel Stykkishólmur after a year, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Breakfast was fine and almost unchanged, but dinner was terrible. The zucchini noodles were extremely spicy and salty, the pasta was overcooked, and the beef was nearly well-done. We even canceled the dessert and decided to eat elsewhere for the remaining days. The rooms were not properly cleaned – water stains, dust, and even hair on the bedding. The bathroom smelled bad, like a toilet. The restaurant manager was a loud and annoying girl, which made the atmosphere even worse. Hotel management was nowhere to be found – we stayed for three days and never saw anyone we could talk to about the issues. The only positive thing I can mention is the friendly receptionist lady.

Older hotel, you DEFINITELY need reservations if you want to eat in their restaurant, even though 3/4 of the restaurant was EMPTY. Hint: excellent local restaurants in the town! Rooms a bit tight and dated but comfortable. Be sure to see the local cat that naps in the hotel vestibule! They have a banquet hall, so local and tourist busses might be there more than other hotels. Great breakfast with sunrise views in the wall of windows looking out to the sea! Be sure not to bring your own snacks down to the bar area. They will ask you to put them away. Hint: just buy their snacks!!!

Our room was clean, modern, and quiet, with very comfortable beds that made it easy to rest after a day of exploring. The hotel had a welcoming atmosphere and everything was well-maintained. • Alejandro (8/5): Good staying at Stykkishólmur Fosshotel - Throughout our trip to Iceland, we saw different hotels that we assumed were part of the same Fosshotel chain, and they always seemed very modern, but the Fosshotel Stykkishólmur wasn't so modern; it might be considered even a little dated. The room was okay, but the bathroom really needs some update. It even had a certain smell. We were traveling with a friend and requested a three beds room. The third bed was kind of small (we don't think a man could have slept there), and it wasn't very comfortable either. You're paying for a room for three people. It wasn't something we asked at last minute. We had dinner there, and it was delicious. The breakfast buffet was the best and with most variety of all the ones we had at the different hotels. The staff both at reception, bar and restaurant was very friendly and helpful, although in general, we were expecting more for our money. As mentioned above, the bathroom at our room needs some renovation or update, and the third bed was small / short.
