- Carlo (10/5): - Our flight was 5 hours delayed (arrived around 2am), but the staff anyway picked us up from the airport to bring us to the hotel. Everyone was extremely nice, and breakfast was amazing. The riad was really cozy, clean and quiet, with comfortable beds and all required amenities in the room. We also got breakfast to go when we had to leave the riad in the early morning. Totally recommended Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Our stay felt like being welcomed into a beautiful home in the heart of the Fez medina. - The atmosphere felt more like staying in someone’s home than in a hotel. Over our five days, the owner and staff became a kind of temporary family and made us feel very welcome. The breakfasts were exceptional — varied, abundant, and beautifully prepared each morning. Enough to fuel us into the late afternoon. The food from the riad’s kitchen was some of the best we had in Fez. After a long day exploring, it was wonderful to return to the wonderful smells of dinner being prepared, and later head downstairs to enjoy. The rooms were quiet and peaceful, and the beds were very comfortable. The riad itself is beautifully decorated with a refined, understated style that feels authentic without being overdone. Communication with the host was excellent from the moment we booked, with helpful information, suggestions, and thoughtful check‑ins throughout the stay. The location is very convenient — about five minutes to Place Rcif and Bab Sid L’Aouad (the East Gate), and about fifteen minutes to Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate). Shops, cafés, ATMs, and pharmacies are all nearby. The rooftop terrace is a great place to relax and take in the sounds of the medina from above. Our room was not refreshed while we were out during the day, although this didn’t bother us. The staff would have gladly done it if we had asked.

- Stefania (10/5): Il miglior soggiorno a Fez - Riad in una posizione ottima per visitare la vecchia Medina di Fez. Le stanze sono pulite, silenziose e comode. La colazione e i pasti (su prenotazione) sono SQUISITI, la miglior cucina della città. Gli host sono gentilissimi e attenti a ogni esigenza degli ospiti, cercano di supportarti e aiutarti in ogni modo senza essere invadenti. Segnalo per chi potrebbe avere problemi di qualche tipo che le scale hanno gradini molto alti. La colazione viene servita dalle 9 in poi.

- Josefa (10/5): Un Riad de ensueño con buenos precios y muchas actividades. - Nos vinieron a buscar al parking y nos acompañaron al Riad con un servicio de maletas gratuito. Tambien nos ayudaron a organizar excursiones en Fez y alrededores y nos lo pasamos del 10. El Riad ofrece muy buena relacion calidad-precio y nos sentimos muy bien acogidos. Violeta y Adil fueron super atentos con nosotros y los desayunos servidos por Sukaina y la cena que probamos cocinada por Ilham estaban buenísimas. Seguro volveremos pronto. Fue una experiencia muy bonita.

La cena servida por la cocinera fue la mejor de todo nuestro viaje en Marruecos. Camas super cómodas y en general relacion calidad precio muy buenos. El trato que nos dieron fue muy personalizado y seguro volveremos pronto.

- Abhinav (7/5): A gem in the medina - The Riad is the heart of the Medina. A fantastic location and we could walk everywhere. It is safe and lively. The breakfast spread was good. We also had a fabulous homemade dinner which is a must. Carry cash as you will need to pay for everything with cash. Request for a porter service as it is a 10-15 min walk through the medina and dragging the suitcase is not fun.. we got a porter on the way back. The room is more suited for 2 people of a family with young children. When booking the room we made a mistake as we were travelling with 2 teens.

- Philippe (8/5): - Riad idéalement placé dans la Médina. Accueil parfait par la propriétaire qui est de bon conseil. Soukaina est une excellente cuisinière. Elle vous propose des petits déjeuners copieux et variés et peut confectionner sur demande d excellents diners (cuisine marocaine). Sa gentillesse est vraiment un plus. Le riad est conforme a l' annonce et dispose d une terrasse très agréable. Lors de notre séjour, deux familles avec des enfants en bas âge séjournaient également dans le riad. Il y a eu beaucoup de bruits (cris et pleurs) tôt le matin et en soirée. Les parents et la propriétaire s en sont excusés. Étant parents de 4 enfants nous comprenons qu il n' est pas toujours facile de voyager avec des petits. Cependant nous avions choisi ce lieu pour être au coeur de la médina et nous reposer. Le bruit a perturbé notre séjour.

Tout le séjour est facilité avec une grande gentillesse. Le rooftop est très agréable ! La chambre dans laquelle nous avons dormi n'est pas très bien insonorisée. Cela ne pose pas de problème si les hôtes sont respectueux mais peut s'avérer problématique si certains ne respectent pas les règles basiques de savoir-vivre !

- ernesto (10/5): Un gioiellino nella Medina di Fes! - Abbiamo preso l’intera casa in un gruppo di tre coppie, avevamo una governante che si occupava di tutto, colazione, pulizia giornaliera, cena sulla terrazza! Violeta gentilissima anche se stava bene, ci ha risolto anche un grande problema perché mia moglie aveva dimenticato un anello in camera, e ha trovato il modo di farcelo recapitare il giorno dopo a Chefchauen ! Mitica! Se proprio devo trovare una cosa direi le scale! Ma d’altra parte la casa si sviluppa su 4 livelli e quindi è normale, benissimo così!

Violeta is a kind - Beautiful restored old Road, gorgeous decorations combining traditional craft with artistic flourishes. WiFi was a bit intermittent but that is a very minor concern

Co-owner Violeta and her husband have done an amazing job of renovating and her art work lines the walls. Excellent breakfast. My room was tastefully decorated, reflecting great attention to detail. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight, offering delicious options with a charming view. Overall, the combination of the hotel's historic significance, neat and stylish rooms, and delightful breakfast made for a memorable stay. My recent stay at Riad Dar Arsama had its drawbacks. While the location in the center of old Madina is charming, it was inconveniently far from the parking lot. Although the manager sent a staff member to help with our luggage, it was still a hassle. The neighborhood was loud late at night, and due to the house's age, there was no sound insulation, making it creepy at night. While the hotel might be suitable for adults, it is not safe for kids due to the very steep stairs. The bathroom lacked a door and only had a curtain for privacy, which was inconvenient.
- Morales (10/5): Excellent stay for three generation family of five. - Excellent service, spacious home, great breakfasts and located well right within the Medina. Kids loved the loft in their bedroom and it was like their secret clubhouse. 😁 Nothing.
- Derek (10/5): Loved staying there. Would stay there again. - The property was very close to the main streets of the souk. Literally less than a minute walk, but very quiet. Everyone there was super helpful. The owners Violeta and Adil were extremely accommodating, helpful, friendly and always available. We drove to Fes, and they had a porter take us and our bags from our parked car to their Riad. That was really helpful! They also recommended a guide for us. This was our best experience of the trip. He was very affordable ($55 USD for our entire family) and spent much longer than the specified time with us and even helped us barter for lower prices on the major items we purchased. The Riad was very comfortable and their cook, Ilham, cooked us 2 spectacular dinners. Breakfast included the usual tea, bread and preserves, but also eggs, which we really enjoyed. My wife would have appreciated more light in the bathroom. I hear it’s helpful when putting on makeup:)

Breakfast was very nice and dinner was good as well! Violeta was friendly and interesting to talk to. She even packed us snacks because we had to leave early and could t stay for breakfast. Very hospitable. She also arranged for a tour guide of the Medina. Her name was Fatima and she was fabulous. The best guided tour we had in Morocco! Ask for her.

- Dara (10/5): We had a terrific stay and would happy stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Fes. - Specifically, we enjoyed the facility itself and the atmosphere created by the hosts. They were lovely and incredibly hospitable! The breakfast and dinner prepared by the Riad were fantastic and everything felt like you were part of the family. The information and reservations made by Dar Asama were excellent, particularly the tour guide (private guide Mohammad). The room was also very nice, with plenty of charging stations, comfortable beds, and great amenities (particularly the light fixtures). The hosts we interacted with, Violeta and Adil, were incredibly nice, helpful, friendly, and resourceful. We appreciated their ability to make our stay memorable! Nothing to complain about.

- Richard (10/5): Enjoyable stay with very hospitable and helpful owners. - Staying in a traditional riad in Fez was a special event. Perfectly located in the middle of the bustling Medina. Being a traditional house, the stairway was steep and narrow - but this is life in a Moroccan Riad.

Attention to detail in the renovated apartment was exceptional. Being a traditional Riad the stairs were quite steep and narrow, but this is unavoidable in such a historical house.

The owner and the staff were here to help us with every need we had at all times! The lack of door in the bathroom is a bit weird. - Domuslumina (10/5): Wonderful Riad in the heart of the medina - I thank all the Dar Arsama team for their warm welcome, for making me feel at home and taking such good care of me. Beautiful terrace with garden, delicious breakfast and the best dinner I've had in all of Morocco at a very good price. Everything very clean with a very personal and authentic decoration. The Riad is very quiet and it is also next to one of the main streets of the Medina, which makes visiting all the cultural sites of Fes very comfortable. If you get the chance book here at Dar Arsama. Everything was great 👍
- Gregory (9/5): staff were very helpful, location was very good and food was outstanding. - Wonderful food. Breakfasts we’re good and donner was outstanding, the best we had in Morocco. Nice rooftop dining area. The staff including the owner were very helpful in every way from meeting us outside the Medina and offering plenty of time to help us with our stay and information. Our room needed more table space. Also an extra chair or two to sit. Both of these were available just outside our room in a semi-public space, so it was not a big issue.
- Moira (5/5): Good location Riad but did not meet expectations - Great communication on WhatsApp and even arranged an airport transfer for us. The price per night was inexpensive, the breakfast included was lovely and the hospitality of the two Moroccan ladies was very friendly. Arrived at airport and no one was waiting for us as had been agreed. Waited for 25 minutes until someone arrived At the hotel we were taken to a different room to what we had booked as they had given our room to other guests. The owner tried to help but could only speak via the phone as she was in Spain. The room we were given was on the ground floor and we quickly realised it wasn’t good. The kitchen isn’t really a kitchen as it has no utensils, no cutlery, no tableware, no kettle, no microwave, no toaster, no oven, no fridge, no dishwasher, just a sink. The shower head is only for display so the only way to use the shower is to hold it yourself, this makes showering a lot more difficult and a lot less relaxing. The shower does not drain properly so turns into a small paddling pool and as there are no windows the room smelt very damp. Once we tried to sleep, we realised the website had lied about the soundproofing as we could hear every sound outside as if it was in the same room.
- Michael (10/5): - The Full Fes Experience at Dar Arsama We stayed three wonderful nights immersed deep in the Fes Medina. As an experience it was similar to the best we have had when we stay in a small bed & breakfast. Three features of our stay made it especially pleasant and rewarding: 1. This is a 400-year-old building that the owners have personally beautifully restored. The updating maintained the ambiance of a comfortable Moroccan house. 2. Our hosts and the location made the Medina work for us. a. The host met us on arrival at the main "blue" gate and escorted us to Dar Arsama. While it is deep in the Medina, it is located just off a main "street" and we had no trouble leaving and returning to it on our own. b. The Dar offers home made evening meals that are excellent and reasonably priced. We did this two nights and wished we had done that on the third night. c. Our host recommended an excellent guide who showed us the Medina and Fes. 3. As is true with most B&Bs we have enjoyed, the opportunity to get to know the owners adds much to the experience. We definitely enjoyed talking with the owners (Violeta and her husband) and the other guests. Cleanliness was impeccable. Breakfasts were very good and served in the roof-top garden. WiFi bandwidth was also very good. An excellent value for the money!

Surprisingly, it was super quiet although the Riad is very close to one of the “main” streets in the medina Location - in the medina 😀 somewhere . Do get lost (and found) in this colourful maze everything was great, thanks for the hospitality
- Angela (10/5): I would stay again and again. - Violeta was our host and went out of her way to be sure we were cared for. Breakfast was tailor made, with delicious array of breads, jams, yogurt, coffee, tea, eggs, etc. served on the terrace. We ordered a home cooked traditional dinner one night which was one of the best meals we had in Morocco. The sheets were soft, the towels were thick, and the bed was very comfortable. Hot water was always available. We accidentally left a personal document after we checked out and was notified by Violeta by email. She then mailed it to us on her own cost. Loved this Riad. I liked everything, nothing to dislike.

- Blaž (10/5): A wonderful experience in the heart of Fez medina. - Dar Arsama is a beautiful small riad in the heart of Fez medina. Run by a lovely couple that will make your stay a memorable experience. I definitely recommend the dinner at riad that is prepared by a local cook - a wide choice of menus with local dinners. Violeta took care of all our wishes (arranging airport transfer, guided tours, restaurant and hamam reservations). She even made a small surprise party for my birthday :)
- Douglas (9/5): Great place to stay in the legendary Fes medina. - The hostess, Violetta, is absolutely the best hotelier. This family run riad will do anything you need. We dined at the Riad one night, a dinner prepared by a sister-in-law, and it was great. She explained a lot things about Fes and arranged for a great tour guide of the medina and city. If you're looking to stay in the medina, this is the place to stay. The Booking ad says "parking" is available but that's a bit of a stretch. There is parking, for a fee (cheap however) and it's a bit of a distance from the riad outside the medina. Violetta will arrange for someone to come get your luggage and show where the riad is. It's convenient.

They prepare and serve delicious meals on the rooftop overlooking the medina. They helped with a great tour guide and other suggestions of things to do. They speak Spanish, English, Arabic and French. This was our second visit and we would highly recommend it! Climbing the narrow stairs, but it was worth it!

- chiara (10/5): - Riad Dar Arsama is located in the heart of the Medina, but very close to the blue door from where you can take your taxi to the airport. it is very close to the vibrant high street were shops and the market are. The hosts are lovely people, very friendly, always keen to give advise, suggestions and ideas on how to spend your day in and outside Fez. They also offer different activities. Myself and my husband we took an in-house moroccan cooking class were you can choose what type of moroccan food to make and learn the basics of the moroccan cuisine. The cooking class experience was great and at the end of it we ate the delicious food that we prepared!! The breakfast was great, rich and delicious!! The decor and design of the Riad is typical from Morocco and also include a beautiful terrace. I would highly recommend Riad Arsama as place to stay whilst in Fez.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A gem in the Fes Médina! - I loved this place! Violeta provided a warm welcome and made me feel like I was staying with friends or family. Location was fantastic, about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Blue Gate and near lots of shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The Dar was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Value for money was incredible. I look forward to returning to Fes and staying at Dar Astana again!
- E Marizza (10/5): Todo fue excelente!!! - Viajar a Fez es toda una aventura! Sin embargo debo decir que sentirte apoyado y en un ambiente acogedor hace de la visita una gran experiencia. Violeta fue por nosotros a la entrada de la puerta azul y nos guió hasta su riad, nos instaló y el ambiente se siente como en casa!! Súper atenta y linda, además de que no solo habla español! Yo por si sola no hubiera llegado ademas de que veníamos muy cargados de equipaje.El riad es pequeño pero super acogedor y muy cuidados todos los detalles; ya instalados en las habitaciones la decoración te hace sentir completamente en contexto y vivir la experiencia de la Medina. Viaje con mis padres y disfrutamos mucho conversar con ella. Lo recomiendo al 100% por atención y calidad de su riad!!!
