Guest Reviews
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Geoff (6/5): Our room was clean and affordable with some small minor problems. - It was affordable and clean. The location was convenient for getting to Selby and York. The room was a bit smaller than expected, but not a big deal. When we arrived, the tv cable was cut and so the room didn’t have what was advertised. The shower was also small which could bring problems for larger people and the toilet seat was also loose.

- Krawszik (9/5): As a solo female I found this to be a very welcoming and safe place to stop over on a long journey. The staff are friend - Friendly staff and quick check in and departure. Breakfast was tasty. Room plain but had everything that was needed. Very clean and comfortable. Fantastic price for a room. The stairs…2 flights to get to my room ( 40 steps).
- Angela (6/5): Average - It was in a good location for us and the bed was very good The rooms were very tired and nowhere to hang towels to dry
- Penelope (7/5): -
- Jim (8/5): - The rooms are spotless. Very clean. As I regularly stay there, for a few nights, the televisions never work.
- Mark (3/5): Staff great, food very poor, worst breakfast bacon I’ve ever had - Friendly staff Very poor food, bathroom dated and in poor condition.
- CAROLINE (8/5): A pleasant stay. - The room was comfortable (with an enormous bed!) The shower was really good. Dinner was OK The accommodation was seperate from the main building. Not so good if it's raining! The bed didn't need to be quite so big (it took up most of the room!)
- Jasper (8/5): - Het ontbijt was erg uitgebreid, ze hadden een ruime keuze.
Personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
- Becky (8/5): Definitely recommend this was our 3rd stay - Room 22 was perfect, we loved the fact it had a separate small bedroom, worked perfect that the kids could go to sleep before us. The beds are soooo comfortable we slept so well for the 3 nights we stayed. We had breakfast the first morning and unfortunately we didnt find it the best, i had the omelette and found it very greasy which meant it didnt settle very well. The variety and choice of breakfast items was good so i cant comment on any other items.

- Diana Curran (10/5): Great place to stay -
- Reginald (9/5): A lovely weekend. - Having stayed many times at the Owl, we are please to say it is maintaining it's high standards and value for money. I was very disappointed to find the room keys have been changed to the keyless swipe card system. It took 4 different cards before we could get in. I have had this problem at other hotels over the last couple of years and dislike them immensely.
- Glyn (8/5): - location cost
- Julien D. (9/5): - Chambre confortable et bien équipée. Parking suffisant. Emplacement proche d'un parking relais bus pour aaller à York. Prix compétitif Petit-déjeuner un peu décevant, buffet très limité
- Sue (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent Nothing
- Kerry (8/5): - Good location to stay. Good parking facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast and evening meal was very good.
- Leonard (8/5): Good bargain - Room was basic, but clean. The staff were very friendly, with good service in the bar & restaurant. Not the fault of the accommodation, but we had very noisy & inconsiderate neighbours.
- Margaret (7/5): -
- Hadley (8/5): - Our room and bathroom was spacious. Very large and comfy bed.
- Karen (9/5): A very homely friendly experience, staff were excellent . - Location and great atmosphere It was as expected
- Paul (9/5): - There was a garage to park motorcycles, but you have to ask as it's not something they offer normally. Banging loud music at breakfast time.
When I was there a couple of gents in their late sixties were breakfasting to a soundscape of hip-hop. Really not necessary.
- Earl (9/5): - Venue was great. Liked the fact that the rooms were separate from the restaurant and pub. So nice and quiet.

The coffee was very poor also . Most pub areas in need of redecoration

- Diana Curran (10/5): Lovely hotel/pub. Will definitely be back. - The room was a good size. The bathroom was clean and again a good size. The radiator was large and heated the room up quickly. I missed not having any drawers as we were there for 4 nights. If only one or two nights it wouldn't have been a problem.

- Paul (9/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): I will stay there again. - The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff members were friendly and helpful. he breakfast was good with a good choice.
- Erica (8/5): Small but functional rooms - Room was small, but functional. Bed was very comfy with good pillows. Room was dark, but suffered from a lot of light under a massive gap in the fire door so had to put a rolled up towel there. The hot water in the bathroom was instant and shower was lovely and warm. Tea tray well stocked and refilled when requested. Wifi was very good. Breakfast cooked to order and good quality. Car park was a good size. Room felt small. Bathroom heater wasn't working, but this was quickly rectified. There was a lot of light under a massive gap in the fire door so had to put a rolled up towel there. Then we wondered how effective this would be in a fire. The cold water took forever to run and never really got cold, it also had an odd smell to it. As coffee was brought so quickly, it had gone cold by the time breakfast arrived, with no offer of a refill so didn't know if we could have one. Toaster wasn't toasting well. Loud disco noise on the Friday night, but didn't seem to stop after 11, this could be heard by us on the 2nd floor.
- Louise (9/5): Lovely clean friendly and comfy - The location is perfect for us we have family near boy and it’s out of the city but close enough to commute breakfast was a bit dry this time but it’s always been nice before and the lunch we had yesterday was lovely we use this hotel 3 or 4 times a year it’s lovely
- Yvonne (8/5): -
- Lynda (10/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): Great stay in small friendly hotel with nice welcoming pub/restaurant attached. - Everything was good - lots of parking, easy check-in, friendly staff, nice spacious room, clean & well presented, tea & coffee, nice towels & bedding and the room was warm. Would stay here again without a doubt. Nothing.
- Linda (9/5): Good value for money. Ideal for short stays - Ideally located for where we were going Would have preferred a downstairs room
