Guest Reviews
- roland (6/5): - Je m'attendais à beaucoup mieux. La pièce de vie est très belle mais je pensais que les chambres auraient un peu plus d'histoire à raconter. Cela manque de personnalité.
- Bromley (6/5): - On the upside the Hotel is centrally located and the chap at front of house was exceptional. Room was ok too. On the downside, the bathroom had mold around the showertray, the TV did not work and the stairs and landing were very grubby. Breakfast was very poor in quality and quantity running out of bread within the first 5 minutes (only two families!). Glasses were dirty too. So, this hotel is listed as a 4* but in reality is an average 3*.
- Richard (10/5): - Nice stay, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very very good! Just a little noisy in the morning as there is a business just down the block
- Miriam (8/5): Low key place :) - La Whymper worked out well for us. We were out most of the day. The room was a little small but fine with a terrace off the room that didn’t have a great view but allowed cool air to circulate in as temps were 90’s!! Living room/ breakfast area was bright and also had balcony / terrace for sitting. Breakfast choice was good. Checkin was easy and staff very friendly & helpful.
Overall a chill / low key place to stay!!
Also the location is really bang in the middle of happening area.
- Sirley (10/5): - Muito bom, apenas o quarto um pouco pequeno
- Ronaldo (8/5): - Boa localização
Quarto limpo aconchegante
Calefação perfeita
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a 4 star hotel - This is not a 4-Star Hotel! It doesn’t even have a proper Coffee Machine. Rooms are small and the whole house feels cramped. This is an Inn or pension.
- Oliver Jahin (8/5): - Buena ubicación del centro!!
- John (10/5): - Great stay and hospitality.
- John (10/5): - Staff was lovely and we enjoyed our stay very much. The spa recommendation was awesome.
- Kevin (8/5): Bon sejour - Beau chalet, très bien situé dans chamonix.
Service impeccable, petit déjeuner très agréable.
Simplement chambre de petite taille et douche avec pommeau qui fuyait
- Karen (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay!! Had a very comfortable sleep, loved the lounge area with kitchen facilities. This is a great little hotel!
- YOUNGSUN (10/5): 상당히 나이스한 샤머니 숙소 - 두번째 숙박인데 만족합니다. 강추!!
- Thomas (10/5): Great common room! - Relatively small room, but more than made up for it by a great common room with a Nespresso machine. Great breakfast included.
- Oscar (8/5): - The room was comfortable and quiet. The location perfect. The room was clean and having a nice robe was a bonus. Breakfast was appetizing and quite good. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that the carpet in the hallway needs to be replaced. It is quite stained.
- Seth (10/5): Hits the mark - Quiet, very central, and one of best beds/sleeps in recent memory! Thank you!
- Jon (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful, great location in the center of Chamonix.
- David (6/5): - We stayed at Hotel Whymper twice on either end of our Tour Du Mont Blanc hike. The room was small, but had everything that we needed. We appreciated the amazing breakfast that was available each morning nice and early.
While I know this is normal for France, there was no air conditioning and the room was quite warm. No fans were available to cool it down.
- Stephen (10/5): - Enjoyed everything about the stay except perhaps for its funky location down a tiny street/alleyway near its affiliate, Hotel Faucigny. You check in at Faucigny and are shown to your room in Whymper. The room is a bit weird because you have to lock your door manually when leave the room. And, when you are back inside, you have to lock it from the inside if you want to be sure no one walks in on you! You get used to it, though.
Breakfast is at the the Faucigny and is absolutely first class. The staff is great. You can walk to any point in Chamonix within 15 minutes. Multiple restaurants within 5 minutes. Parking is about 20 Euro for 24 hrs at St Michel ...... about 2 minutes away.
All told, it's a great place!
All told, it's a great place!
- Alexandra (10/5): Cozy hotel - Nice and quiet chalet in the center of Chamonix. Comfortable room and bed. Tasty breakfast. Nice sauna. Cozy decorated salong where you can take a coffee or tea with cake any time. Recommended.
- Joseph (8/5): - Small, interesting rooms. (Skylight opens) Breakfast pricey for the choices.
- Craig (8/5): Very nice. - A sweet stay in Chamonix.
- GREG (10/5): - .
- marco (8/5): - Struttura carina.
- Erich (8/5): - Freundliches Personal
- Richard (8/5): - Great location. Staff very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel in perfect location (centre of town) with amazing mountain views.from balcony.
You also had access to lounge room area with outdoor deck with more amazing views.
- Roland (10/5): - Séjour agréable au mois de mai dans un établissement très correct et au personnel avenant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The check-in process was slightly different than we are used to, but it worked out just fine. The room was charming and cozy, with a bathtub (a little slim bathtub, but nice regardless!) and a nice balcony. The only issue we had was a spot entering the bathroom that was a bit creaky -- we had to leave by 6:30 am which made even tip-toeing around concerning that our downstairs neighbors may have been awoken by the noise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great central location, close to the gondola up to Brevant and to the pedestrian mall yet still quiet. I’ll stay there again.
- Leonardo (10/5): - Excellent staff and the property itself is
Located seconds from everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm atmosphere and amazing views. The staff were very friendly and helpful
- Julia (10/5): Best place in Cham - Amazing stay, super friendly staff and just the right kind of ”home away from home”- feel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved our entire experience. Would not change a thing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very well kept, clean and very good central location to shops and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is near lots of restaurants & shopping. Enjoyed the living area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent staff. Delicious breakfast! Very clean. Pleasant experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service was excellent, very friendly staff, excellent location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - All great except rooms are too small. Modern and well located, friendly staff.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Style over substance maybe? - A nice chalet hotel that has been stylishly decorated. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms and although we knew it was on the ground floor we didn’t expect it to have a door onto the car park. Couldn’t have the curtains open or everyone walking past would see in. If you can afford the extra go for the larger rooms on the top floor. Not sure they will have any view though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable and well organised accommodation. Quiet location although really close to lovely restaurants, shops and the bus stop!
- Kristen (10/5): Cute Chalet, great location, nice staff - Chalet was super cute and the staff was so nice. We got there earlier than check in and the staff was very accomodating. Breakfast was delicious and so cute that they offer a delicious cake in the afternoon in the lounge area. Rooms were a little small but we were very comfortable and bathroom was spacious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great and welcoming staff. Great amenities, the outdoor jacuzzi in particular. The "living room" with great tea and coffee and cake in the afternoon. Very nice breakfast. Great design everywhere.
The only con - our room was very small (number 3), however this was known to us at booking time. It could have been a little more practical though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In a quiet area right in the middle of the town. The rooms and decor are very modern and really stylish. Extremely friendly staff and would definitely go back.
- Emily (10/5): Great Cozy Chalet - We loved Chalet Whymper! The staff was friendly and informative, the location was perfect for skiing and pleasure.
- Roland (10/5): Romantic in Chamonix - Cute, Cosy, Modern, Clean, New, Well positioned, Romantic... what more can I say? This place was a very pleasant surprise. We normally stay in Heliopic in Chamonix but when we wanted to extend our stay due to good weather, Heliopic didnt have any vacancy so we turned here and glad we did. The Hotel is so well positioned, its 50 meteres from the walking street where you have everything, but its still easily accessible by car and has some free parking. We had an attic room with a skylight and it had the most amazing view. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. There are no pictures of the bathroom on here but it is very nice. The sauna is good but a cold shower would complete it, (although we made do with going outside in the snow) The staff were all delightful and so hospitable. The lounge has a very cool homey/chalet style feel to it (and delicious cake to boot) And to top it all off it was very well priced. We will definitely visit again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What an absolute gem. This place is like home from home without being too on top of one another. So its great for those who are more private also. Its quiet yet just a 1 minute walk from the town. Patricia is amazing, so so helpful and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful, clean and modern. This place is just lovely! I love that you can relax in the lounge with a coffee by the roaring fire. Not to mention the outdoor hot tub with mountain views. The breakfast is very nice also. I just love it here. I cant wait to come back. I wouldnt stay anywhere else. Thanks again for having us. X
- fra (8/5): - challet like, new, good breakfast, room a little on the small size but with big bathroom
- Verified traveler (8/5): Warm place to visit - Fantastic service by the staff and owner to make it comfortable for us.
- Ms A M (10/5): Comfort, warmth, attention to detail. - Beautiful boutique hotel right in the centre of Chamonix, steps from lovely restaurants and bars. Really comfortable warm and cosy room, lovely living room to chill out in in the evening, and great breakfast. Would heartily recommend.
- CHIEN-CHIANG (10/5): Great hotel, highly recommend. - Staff is super friendly and helpful. The amenity (jacuzzi and sauna) is in great condition. The hotel location is also very good.
- Adi (10/5): Great place, loved it!! - Great place! We loved it! The service was so welcoming and friendly, the place was well designed, clean and comfortable. And the location is awesome! We would love to come back there!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good service
nice and helpful staff
but very small rooms
- adel (6/5): Small room with access door to street - It was nice but the hotel room is too small the location is ok but the size of the room is terrible
- Gila (10/5): - Delightful!
- Villy (10/5): - My husband and I booked this hotel right after completing TMB as a treat and it definitely was! The staff was friendly, the breakfast was great, and the room was lovely. We would absolutely stay here again if we were to return. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location - Communal facilities are good with pleasant lounge well stocked with free beverages and welcome hot tub after a days hiking. The room was small but clean and no noise problems. Free parking is limited but with everything within easy walking distance once parked there was no need to use the car. The staff were especially friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location right in the center of the town with restaurants near by. Walking trails were just steps away with beautiful views of a glacier.
- Darlene (10/5): top notch friendly service from all staff. - service was prompt, friendly, immaculately clean, good location, hot tub, sauna, lots of nice touches like a free city bus pass, nice icing room and lounge, good breakfast, but mostly the warm, welcoming service from ALL the staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel great location - Great location. Nice clean hotel. No fluff but goo fundamentalists. Staff great although not always on sight. Good breakfast and afternoon tea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Simply wonderful - Chalet Whymper was simply wonderful. Extremely friendly staff gave us crucial advice about timing our trip up the mountain to maximize the views before the clouds rolled in. The room was very clean and well-appointed, with a great shower. The hot tub was lovely, and the breakfast and free coffee throughout the day were perfect. We will definitely return.
- Agnes (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and professional. Perfect location within walking distance to shops and restaurants and the train station. Well appointed, clean and modern. We had a standard room which was small but we didn't mind. We only had 2 carry-ons and 2 backpacks and it was tight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and professional. Perfect location within walking distance to shops and restaurants and the train station. Well appointed, clean and modern. - Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location! Great place and wonderful staff.
- Leone (10/5): - Chalet Whymper is in a great location. It is renovated, clean and the staff is warm and welcoming. We’re looking forward to our return.
- Alexandra (10/5): Amazing - Amazing & would definitely stay here again
- Gayathri (10/5): Highly recommended - Gorgeous, cozy rooms and facilities for a vist anytime in the year. Absolutely recommend this chalet for couples, families or even solo travelers looking for a homey and luxurious home base while exploring Chamonix. There is a Sauna and spa facility as well as an outdoor jacuzzi with stunning views of the alps. The rooms are clean and comfortable and absolutely beautiful: very alpine chic and cozy (white fur spreads, wooden furniture, skylights with breathtaking views of the alps- definitely ask for a room on the top floor to get a skylight). Breakfast is included and consists of a scrumptious spread of cheeses, bread, pastries and continental breakfast bar. Tea and coffee are high-end and perfect to sip on while sitting in the lounge reception area, a lovely room with couches, tables and wraparound porch with mountains visible from every spot. We came in early spring visiting from New York and absolutely loved it (20 min after arriving we all wanted to extend our stay a few more nights lol). The receptionist/owner Patricia was lovely and friendly and super helpful. She gave us complimentary tickets for a scenic alpine train ride, as well as helpful recommendations for local dining etc. Hope to come back the next time we're in France!! This place was unbelievable!
a few other details: 1) there is a ski room to store skis and equipment, very handy since the rooms are modest/cozy in size and get crowded quick 2) Patricia was very responsive to emails and questions
- Susan (8/5): Nice small chalet type hotel - This is a very new chalet, right in the centre of Chamonix. Location is fantastic.
.We booked a superior room, bit it didn’t feel very superior, it was quite small. And bathroom rather cramped.
The lounge breakfast area is very pleasant. They have a Jacuzzi on the balcony, which we didn’t use but it looked good, and they have a sauna in the basement which again we didn’t use. Maybe next time,.
Breakfast was of a good continental standard.
The hotel is over three floors with no lift , so a no good for people with reduced mobility. But overall a very pleasant place to stay, I would recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the decor throughout the chalet, breakfast, proximity to the ski lifts and downtown Chamonix, helpfulness of the staff, and hot tub, but the room was a little cramped for 2 people.
- Erika (10/5): Great location and wonderful experience! - This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be within walking distance of the Brevent lift, and walking distance of Chamonix village. This was our first time in Chamonix, and Patricia and the staff were incredibly helpful and nice, and the chalet is completely renovated and in perfect condition. You can walk everywhere from here! The windows in our room looked out into the Mont-Blanc side of the mountains, and could not have been more ideal waking up to every morning. There is a place to store your skis and a heated boot rack in the basement, and the chalet is five minutes' walk to the Brevent lift. After skiing all day, walk down to the chalet, drop off your skis, and head one minutes' walk to the best apres in Chamonix. This really is the perfect location, and perfect for anyone unsure of where is the best location to be in when visiting Chamonix. Highly recommend, and will be back here next time!
- Alexander (10/5): Nice small and quiet hotel in Chamonix - Nice small Hotel in the middle of Chamonix.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
The breakfast just perfect as a start on the day.
Since the hotel only have 10 rooms it is very easy to meet other guests in the living area (if you want to). We’d stay again!
- Mark (10/5): Friendly, stylish and relaxing - We were welcome late at night by the friendly manager who was always on hand for advice and help. The afternoon homemade cake and tea were a nice bonus. The outside jacuzzi was a great way to round of a days skiing. The interior decor is tasteful and stylishly done, which added to the calm atmosphere.
- Matthew (10/5): Chamonix new hot spot - This place is amazing!! Only just opened in Dec 2017.
We stayed in one of the small rooms, and whilst some might compliant about the size, it is clearly stated on the room details.
Check in was a breeze, jacuzzi opened at 5pm with views of Mont Blanc, and there is also a sauna downstairs. The facility puts out a small selection of pastries in the afternoon for you in the main shared living area. In the living area there is a supply of water, tea and coffee for you use throughout the day and night. In addition there is also a fire place, tv, lounge chairs and soft music playing. Breakfast is provided and consists of cold meats, selection of fresh bread, cereal, juice and coffee/tea.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Adam & Margaret (10/5): Nice Chalet in the center of the city. - We stayed in the Chalet for only one night. The location is excellent; it is located behind the main street with easy access to the towns center. A huge plus is that parking is in front of the hotel, making it very convenient. This is a newly renovated chalet with a modern design, both the rooms and lounge have a unique look. The staff is very friendly and provided great service. We would definitely consider this hotel for our future stays in Chamonix.
