• Amelia (10/5): This guesthouse was amazing, in a perfect location, and I can't wait to stay again! - In a cool neighbourhood in a great location close to Asakusa, and very close to a train station with useful train lines to get around the city. Very comfy bed and pillow, I had some of the best nights sleep in my cozy bottom bunk. Loved the beautiful, quirky common area and overall design of the place. They even had free snacks, plus plenty of tea & coffee. Isa was an incredible host and you can tell it's a family run place. I'll definitely be back!!

• Lina (10/5): Perfect! - This is the best guesthouse that could ever happen to you. The bed is so comfortable that I even bought the same pillow for my home. Everything is spotlessly clean. The owner, Isa, is incredibly hospitable and always ready to help. The atmosphere feels just like home. I originally booked for a week, but ended up extending my stay for a couple more days because I simply didn’t want to leave. I will definitely come back here at the first opportunity.

• Anna (10/5): Convenient, clean, comfortable, affordable, friendly, relaxed, and spacious. - We had a lovely room, Isa was really helpful and friendly throughout our stay and the property as a whole looks great whilst having a relaxed vibe. Being here allowed us to stay in Tokyo for an affordable price without compromising our comfort or the location. We were in walking distance of Asakusa, Ueno Park, and Kappabashi street. It was also very easy to get to other popular spots by train like Tsukiji Fish Market, Ginza, Roppongi, and Akihabara. It’s also on a direct line to Haneda airport which is really handy. We did not like the shampoo and conditioner in the shower rooms here so we bought small shampoo packets from the family mart round the corner.

• Katharina (9/5): Großartig - Ein sehr schönes kleines Gästehaus! Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Im großen Aufenthaltsraum und auf der kleinen Terrasse kann man schnell neue Leute kennenlernen. Auch die Möglichkeit ein Bad nehmen zu können, hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Die Eigentümer sind unfassbar freundlich und hilfsbereit! Es war etwas warm in den Zimmern.

• Laura (10/5): Great clean family-run hostel close to metro station - Clean family-run hostel that was close to the metro station. The hostel was well set up with a small kitchen, dining area and ability to wash and dry clothing. No issues! Would stay again!
• Cho-Chieh (10/5): - I had such a wonderful stay at Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse! 💕 Isa-san and Yumiko-san are the sweetest hosts — so kind and caring, they truly made me feel at home. The guesthouse is in a quiet area but still close to many great spots, super convenient! Everything was clean, cozy, and filled with good vibes. The other guests were also very friendly and respectful. I’d definitely love to come back next time I visit Tokyo! ☺️🌸

• JiYoon (10/5): Your definite right choice - It was the best experience I ever had in a guesthouse. It was extremely calm and quiet, lovely tea and coffee available, and as long as the share mates follow the rules, it will be the most cleanest, safest, beautiful guesthouse there is. Isa and Yumiko keeps the house remarkable, and very loved. You can feel their love in each and every corner of the house. It’s not cold either! If you are worried about the winters, they keep the house at a comfortable temperature. The bedding is to die for. The blanket I had was a weighted blanket, allowing more comfortable sleep. The bed area was a long bed + enough room for a check in baggage to fit so it was nice and roomy. Their plug points are not international so make sure you have a 110v converter with you! There is a multi-tab for roughly 3 more plugs to be available. I had such a pleasant time and I would love to come here again and again. Best place to be in Tokyo🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 +) Kuramae station is 2 min by walk if you come out right. 40 minutes to shinjuku, 1h to Meguro, and pleaaassseeee look around Kuramae area it’s so zen😭🫶🏼 enough life, no crowd. ほんとにありがとうございますイサ&ユミコさん。また会えたらいいですね！ That I couldn’t stay for longer 🥲

• Lacey (9/5): A cozy, clean home base. - The location, decoration, efficiency of the design and organization all made for a great stay. Free coffee and snacks made it feel homey. Clean and tidy. Responsiveness to my messages made my organizing my luggage delivery and arrival smooth and easy. I also met other nice solo travelers. The women’s dorm is quite crowded and got a bit stuffy at night. It would have been more comfortable to have a white noise machine and air purifier running at night.

• Cathrain Vibar (9/5): Recommended for solo travelers! - The location of the homestay is perfect and accessible across multiple stations. There's also a nearby convenience store, multiple cafes and restaurants around there area. The overall vibe of the place is very homey and warm. I really like the look and style of the place. It reminds me of home. I stayed at the girls dormitory and was comfortable with my bed. It's honestly the most comfortable bed I have slept in a hostel/homestay. The pillow and blanket is very soft. I miss it! There's also curtains around the bed for privacy. The host is also very easy to talk to. They can speak English and I was thankful that they granted my request to have the lower bunk bed. I was also able to leave my luggage before and after checkout. Lack of breakfast options around the area except for convenience store. The wash area is located at the entrance so it's a bit awkward whenever you're brushing your teeth and people come/go and see you there. Sometimes, the wifi doesn't work or loose connection. There's only one shower at the ground floor so there are times when you might need to wait for your turn. Also, the hair dryer doesn't dry my hair fast enough. Lastly, some people doesn't follow the 11pm quiet hours (the owner did inform me to tell him if some people are not following the rules) as they kept on fixing and repacking their things. It bothered me at first but the earplugs definitely helped a me to sleep during these times.

• Laila (10/5): Trooop biiien - Le séjour à Hikari Guesthouse était excellent. Le hostel est propre, et Issa, le propriétaire, est très très sympa, toujours avec le sourire. Le hostel était très très cozy et les lits confortables. Très près de la gare du métro, qui a un ascenseur, donc pour les voyageurs avec des valises, vous n’avez rien à craindre. Il y a des supérettes à côté, des cafés et des restaurants, et c’est top : super proche d’Asakusa. L’emplacement est parfait. Je recommande fortement le séjour dans ce hostel ! Issa, ce commentaire est pour toi. C’est juste une recommandation, pas un commentaire négatif : peut-être ajouter un miroir dans le dortoir, juste histoire qu’on puisse checker nos outfits avant de sortir. Mais sinon, tout était parfait !

• Kassandre (10/5): Un havre de paix au milieu de Tokyo - Je ne peux que dire du bien de cette auberge tenue par Isa-san et sa famille, aux petits soins j'ai passé un super séjour. Isa-san vous donne des conseils précieux sur les environs, les restaurants sont proches, Kuramae est très bien placé pour profiter de Tokyo sans y être en plein coeur au milieu des agitations (coucou Shinjuku et Shibuya). Restez-y plusieurs jours cela vaut vraiment le coup. Cette maison rassemble des voyageurs similaires et crée une véritable petite communauté lors du séjour. Je reviendrai pour sûr !

• Meinrad (8/5): - Sehr freundlicher und sehr hilfsbereiter Besitzer. Es ist immer jemand da wenn Hilfe gebraucht wird. Sehr sauberes und gut gepflegtes Hostel. Sehr gute Lage vor allem auch um günstig an die beiden Flughäfen zu kommen. Wünschen würde ich mir zwei Sachen, dann wäre es perfekt. Zum einen wäre es toll wenn die Betten etwas höher wären. Dann hätte man Stauraum für die Koffer darunter. Das würde in den Zimmern auf einfache Art massiv mehr Platz schaffen der bei Vollbelegung fehlt. Zum anderen wäre es gut wenn der Sicherheit etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet würde. Abschliessbare Zimmer oder noch besser abschliessbare Kofferfächer unter den Betten wären sehr hilfreich. Aktuell kann jeder alles betreten/anfassen. Das ist ein Problem. (Es gibt Schliessfächer aber diese sind relativ klein und einfach)

• Dennis (10/5): Welcoming owners and good location - The best thing about this guesthouse are the owners. They are incredibly welcoming and nice and take very good care of you. I got very good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit in the area. The place was always very clean. The location is very good, just 5 minutes from the next subway station. Kuramae in general is a good neighborhood from where you can get to other parts of the city quite easily. I can highly recommend staying at this place.

• マナミ (10/5): 東京にもまだこんなゲストハウスあったぁぁあ！！ - 東京いるときにゲストハウス泊まろうなんて思ったことなかったけど、日本でいちばん人が訪れる都市だからこそ泊まってみたいと思った。 　 近くにはNui.やらCITAN、LittleJapanなどのゲストハウスがひしめくエリアにある。 ここが他と違うのは、ホストの家がここで、家族で経営されているということ。むしろ、家の一部をゲストハウスにしたという印象。 　 出迎えてくれたのは、若いときは地球の歩き方を片手に旅を楽しんだと言うイサさん、子ども3人の父でもある。 英語も堪能で、海外のゲスト８割というがしっかりひとりひとりとコミュニケーションをとっていた。基本的にコモンルームに居て、いつでも何でも(観光のこと)相談にのってくれる。 　 キッチンはもちろん、調味料やフリーコーヒーがしっかりあり、洗濯機と乾燥機まで完備。小さなベランダからはなんとスカイツリーも見える。 　 決して賑やかでないエリアだけど、だから静かに泊まりたい人には向いている。なんたって最寄り駅まで2分、空港まで1本でいけちゃうアクセスの良さ◎ 　 　 蔵前駅から徒歩2分 秋葉原駅から徒歩25分 羽田空港から50分

• Przemyslaw (10/5): - The neighbourhood is simply amazing, with a lot of local cafes and unique atmosphere. The owners are extremely kind and welcoming people. They helped me a lot during my stay, conversations with them were also really friendly and helpful. Beds are pretty comfortable and spacious, you can use earplugs they provide for free, so even when me neighbour was snoring it wasn’t a big issue. I can not recommend this place enough, I will stay here during my next trip to Tokyo for sure

• Roxana (10/5): - Excellent stay! Best stay I've had in Tokyo. The hosts - Isa and his wife Yumiko - are very welcoming. I will stay at this place the next time I go to Tokyo. This felt like a very cozy place to go back to, and the area around it is great. Very short walk to the station. Walking distance to several great restaurants. Isa gives you an excellent map on check in that was a great introduction the area and enhanced my visit. I thought the beds were quite comfortable and after a month of living hostels, I had the best sleep of my trip here. Sure, it's not soundproof because of the wood but that's Tokyo for you. I put on a white noise machine and slept very well. When you're going to the shower on the bottom floor, you have to walk past the common area when you're done. It was only busy one night but the showers on the second floor were always available, it seemed. The stairs to go up to the second floor are a tad narrow, but that's the city. I stayed in September and I remember the downstairs common area only being a little too warm for just once, but it was still comfortable and I enjoyed spending time there. I can't say enough great things about this place.

• Wai (9/5): Superb - It is very clean and the room feels comfy. I like the feel-like-home common area which allows us to sit, offers free coffee & tea & some local snacks. It has laundry & drying facilities. I can feel the passion of guesthouse owner from the nicely printed map which recommends nearby places to see & restaurants. Location is superb, the bus stop is just a few meter away and a few metro stations are also within a few minutes walk. I love the walk from the guest house through the neighbourhood to the Sumida Parks. Can't think of any

• Wing (10/5): Lovely and would stay again! - Clean, quiet, really good facilities with all you need (plenty of hanging hooks), and host family was really nice and knowledgeable about the area. Location right near the train station and I found it super easy to get around - Kuramae itself was also lovely to explore. Got a little stuffy in the dorm room sometimes - but I also didn't ask for other options so that's on me.

• Allan (9/5): We look forward to going back :) - We sleept really well on the madresses. The room was clean and the family kind. Very good location and WiFi. My spouse had a problem with the draft from the window, and it was hard to regulate the temperature in the room. To be fair as Danes we might not be use to living with an airconditioning machine - and the noise of it. This is a challenge for us i all old houses in Japan. We would be happy to book at Hikari Guest House again
• Christy (10/5): A comfortable guesthouse experience as a solo traveller. I'd definitely be back! - I really enjoyed my stay at Tokyo Guesthouse Hikari. The beds are so comfortable, space is well maintained and I loved the aesthetic of the traditional Japanese house. I was warm every night and the host Isa is really helpful, kind, and always around whenever I have queries to be answered. I will be back! Can't think of much, other than perhaps the residents can take more initiative in locking up the main door after midnight for security reasons.
