The room was clean and lovely, the bed was super comfortable and the shower was great! I wasn't crazy about the shampoo and conditioner they provided but that was because the dispenser was difficult, but everything else was perfect. And the service and amenities were awesome. Definitely going back.

- mdentmin (10/5): A very cool place that makes it easy to come back. - Such a great and relaxing location. The staff greatly add to the atmosphere and are very welcoming. The in house restaurant has great food and service. Rooms at the hotel are clean, beds are comfortable and all the amenities are first rate. Rooms rates are very reasonable. This is our second time staying at Western Front and we are quite certain it won’t be our last.
- Travel-with-Terriers (10/5): Keep up the good work, Western Front! - This was our 5th or 6th stay at the Western Front Hotel and second 5 star review. We enjoy the hotel and little St. Paul, VA so much that we make it a point to detour off I-81 for a night or two on annual trips south to visit family. The unique rustic vibe of the hotel is so artfully done and has been well maintained over the years. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed and squeaky clean. We especially appreciate that dogs are welcome and staff is very dog friendly. (We don’t love the new $50 pet fee for an overnight stay, but recognize it has become pretty standard in the hotel and STR industry).

- Daniel (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer and experienced all they had to offer. - Amazing rooms with better renovations of an older property than you see in newer and larger properties. Everything was immaculately clean and well designed. Despite the last minute booking with late arrival and having young kids, the hotel took great care of us. It's central to the picturesque town with beautiful scenery and a nice hiking/running trail up the nearby mountain. As we love the fall season, we really appreciated the Halloween decorations. My kids' greatest regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

It took him a while to respond to the bell and we he did he finally did get there he brought a less than hospitable attitude. The only other thing was much to my husband's dismay there was no coffee pot in the room nor hand soap.

- Paul (10/5): - My brutal honest opinion of the property is what I would call the combination of 1925 meets 2025. Check in was hassle free even though we were very delayed in arriving. I would change the front desk to look more like the 1920s version. The exposed ductwork and pipe add to the atmosphere. The room was just the right size for the price. Love the big shower. The courtyard was a quiet place to relax after driving for 6 hours. The batteries in the tv remote were almost dead, so holding it a foot from the screen was annoying. It was 11:30 at night so I was not asking the front desk for new ones. The bed was super clean and comfortable. I was asleep in no time. Check out was just as easy. I know we can’t pick our neighbors but the Latin cafe connected to the hotel behind the jail cell door was not what I was looking for as a brunch option. There were other options nearby though. If I am in that area I would definitely stay again. Dead batteries in TV remote

The staff is over the top kind and wanting to provide the best possible stay. The rooms are incredibly clean, the beds are very comfortable, breakfast is free and brought straight to your door in the morning and the Molton Brown bath products are the cherry on top! Parking is super convenient, the restaurant downstairs is probably the best food in the county AND the price is incredibly reasonable! I can't say enough good things. Nothing, I love staying here! Such a great hotel, great location. Hotel has all the amenities you will need. The cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere are top notch.

- Companion29355114429 (10/5): Great Hotel - My teenage grandson and I stayed at Western Front and we both loved it! The place has such a cool, chill atmosphere. The room was spacious and comfortable plus everything was clean. We loved the outdoor area, the fire pit at night was awesome! The cozy game room downstairs was great too The on site restaurant was good too and reasonably priced. That made it even more enjoyable that we didn't have to go find somewhere to eat. We will definitely stay at Western Front again!

- Jonathan (10/5): Comfy and cute - This is an amazing old building. They managed to modernize without getting rid of the charm, including original floors. The room was large, but cozy. Instead of your typical hotel room, the decor and finishes really make it feel homey. The staff was great. We let them know we would be checking in quite late, and even though they didn't have an overnight desk person scheduled, the guy at the desk stayed until we got there at 2 a.m. The attached Mexican restaurant was delicious. We were starting here to go to a race in Bristol, but I would take this over the closer hotels any time.

The location is perfect when visiting family in Wise and Abingdon. The staff are always courteous and professional and each room that we have used has been perfectly clean and spacious. We love having the restaurant dining option right downstairs and the coffee shop nearby in the morning. the weather - it was rainy with flash flood warnings during our visit in July- but that, of course, is not within the hotel's control!

- Eric (10/5): Nice little town feel. - Just remember it's a little town. Sundays they roll up the sidewalks. A lot of the local places/ businesses don't open until Monday or Tuesday.

We made it work with extra pillows and blankets and one person slept on floor. Not sure if the error was on the app side or hotel

- Christine (10/5): Would probably stay again if in that area again - Due to a change in circumstances we needed to check in early. The staff was very accommodating. It was a one night stay, since we got back to the hotel so late we just went straight to bed. We left early in the morning so we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.
- davidlS2759XY (10/5): Home away from home defines The Wester Front Hotel. - If you are traveling in southwest Virginia I highly recommend staying at the Western Front. Clean well appointed rooms await you in an environment where you and your family are treated like family. Pets are treated with a cookie upon arrival. I live in the seafood capital of the world and the seafood in the restaurant there is as good as I have ever eaten.

- jmilford6 (10/5): Charming Hotel - My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we fell in love with this charming hotel. Our room was beautifully designed and super clean. The mattress and pillows were perfect. The staff were super friendly and full of ideas for things to do around town. We ate at the adjacent Mexican restaurant, Puerto Nuevo, both nights. Since it was Memorial weekend (Sunday & Monday), most restaurants were closed. Another reason why we chose this hotel was that the restaurant was open every day. The hotel also had a game room with a pool table and couches for lounging. The second floor had an outdoor patio, but since it was raining, we did not use the space. The backyard also offered an outdoor sitting area with a fire pit. Since this is an older/remodeled hotel, I would ask to stay on the 3rd floor instead of the 2nd floor to eliminate sound from others walking above, but I still slept great!
- dcw1205 (10/5): Love, love, loved my room! - Love, love, loved my room! Great bed, comfortable space with lots of room to unpack. Seating area was nicely arranged. We took a group to the restaurant after our meeting and the food was excellent. Great service in the restaurant, too. Front desk staff was awesome.
- P4352CXmaryd (10/5): My 7th Stay – Still the Best in St. Paul! - The Western Front Hotel continues to be my top choice every time I’m in St. Paul. This was my seventh stay, and it wont be the last. I spent two weeks here, and everything from check-in to check-out was seamless and enjoyable. The rooms were as comfortable and clean as ever, with that signature rustic-modern charm that makes the Western Front feel both relaxing and stylish. One of the highlights of this stay was doing the ATV adventure on our last day, it was the perfect way to end the work trip. The best part? Guests of the hotel get a discount on the rental, which made it even better. The trails were beautiful, and it was a fun and memorable experience we all loved. Between the consistently amazing service, great group accommodations, and bonus perks like the ATV discount, this hotel continues to deliver every time. I can't recommend the Western Front Hotel enough, whether it’s your first visit or your seventh, they make you feel like family. Special thanks to Bobbie and her team.
- Steven (10/5): - I only spent a quick night so did not experience much. I found the hotel in excellent condition and very clean. It was decorated nicely as well and a good change from the typical chain hotel.
- Jamie (10/5): - Each room is decorated like a lake cabin feel, very comfortable clean and easy to get around the areas close by to everything we needed. Staff was very kind accommodating. Quiet and peaceful place. Loved it and will be back again. Paid at the location so Expedia where we booked it through is still showing not complete to get our points so not sure what to do about that.

- dions791 (8/5): Great Experience! - I really enjoyed the theme of the hotel. The rustic look set the tone for an inviting experience. The fireplace in the rear of the hotel adds a nice touch for a space where you can converse, read a book, or simply relax. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff was always friendly. The large flat screen TVs were a nice addition to the room for a sports fan like me. I did have some issues contacting front desk attendants late at night when I was working a late shift, but they were always helpful when I could talk to a staff member. A suggestion would be to leave directions on operating the dual thermostats. I wasn't aware that both thermostats must be on the same setting to get your desired temperature. Overall, it was a great experience, and I look forward to my next stay.
