Lara (8/5): Pleasant stay near the Cotswolds - The staff were very helpful. The towels are very thick and comfortable and the pool was lovely for a swim. It is a good location to explore the Cotswolds by car. The breakfast is good value for money. The room was so hot and the accomodation in general was quite out dated, it needs a refurb.

Bathroom suite fairly aged and some black mould in areas. Powe points near bed would have bene appreciated. Bed could be larger for the size of the room to make more comfortable.
Susan (9/5): Excellent value and a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. - The room was spacious and the tea/coffee facilities in the room were very welcome. The spa facilities were great, especially after a long day of walking/sightseeing. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and the breakfast was also very good, with lots of cooked items (table service) as well as buffet items, everything you could want :-). The bed in the room was also super comfy. The room was a little tired and the carpet was in need of a clean.

Paul (8/5): Nice, clean comfortable room for a short stay - The room was basic but well kept and very clean and for a one night stay had everything I needed. The breakfast was really nice, always hot and miss from hotel to hotel, but this one had a good selection of hot and cold, and the sausages were tasty. A couple of small chips to the enamel in the bath, but nothing major that couldn't be easily sorted It was a courtyard room opposite the main hotel which I actually quite liked. It was very quiet, you do have to have the curtain closed for complete privacy as its its easy to see in. Staff were all really friendly from reception through to restaurant, very welcoming and helpful. Would recommend for a short stay based on my experience The room was cold in the night. A gap under the main door and no way of closing it off from the bedroom meant I woke up shivering and couldn't spot anything to help warm the room up. The lights are so bright for main room that I just used the bedside lights to have a more comfortable level of lighting for me.

A lot of places only give you the small modest rooms if you take a dog. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our border collie was completely spoilt, given a bed to lie on when we ate, water bowl, treats and lots of fuss which she loved and with wonderful grounds for to run in she was a happy dog.Nothing was too much trouble, Shannon,Joana, Ollie, Geveena, Victoria and all the others are a credit to Cricklade and if we are back in the area we will definitely rebook. Thanks for making our stay a great one 😊

Leah (1/5): Awful - . Facilities were lovely I booked and paid in advance for a superior double room with a view, expecting that this is what we would receive upon arrival. However, when we checked in, the receptionist did not inform me that we had actually been placed in a standard double room instead. After seeing the room and comparing it to the photos from my booking, I raised the issue and was then told that there were no superior rooms left—despite the fact that this is what I had reserved well in advance. I was told they would look into it and call me back, but ultimately nothing could be done. The only compensation offered was a free dinner, which did not feel appropriate given the circumstances. This stay was meant to be a birthday treat for my mum, so the situation was especially disappointing. As a result, we ended up leaving and moving to another hotel at 16:30—time that should have been spent relaxing. I won’t be returning. I would strongly advise others to double-check their room upon arrival, as it seems you may not be informed if you’ve been given something different from what you booked.

Barbara (8/5): Nice relaxing couple of nights away in beautiful surroundings. - The hotel is located just outside the town in acres of beautiful countryside. Our room was in the main building and was very comfortable and clean although some of the furniture was a bit dated. The lounge and bar area opens onto a terrace with panoramic view of the countryside. The food was good quite a comprehensive breakfast choice of cooked food, cereals, pastries, some fresh fruit etc; and dinner on the 2 nights was very nice. It was the same menu for both nights but there was enough choice for us. The use of the swimming pool, steam room and sauna was free to guests. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Although the room was clean and comfortable it did need a little bit of TLC. Some of the woodwork needed a paint touch up and part of the wallpaper needed replacing, but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment. Some of the outside areas in the grounds needed a bit of care and attention but overall nothing major to dislike.

Will (8/5): Lovely location, views, staff and food. - Amazing views, helpful staff, excellent food and very well priced, service in the restaurant was superb. Handy to have car charging there if a touch expensive. Overall I felt it was very well priced for what it offers in facilities and location/situation. Nothing really. There were a small number of areas that were maybe a little tired or dated but these were very minor. Worth noting the balconies in the balcony rooms are not screened from neighbouring rooms.
susanaF920ZP (10/5): Happy, helpful staff make this hotel worth the visit - Just got back from spending a 2 night break at this lovely hotel. Very picturesque setting. Used the pool and steam/sauna which was a nice bonus. The staff here are the friendliest that I come across in a while. I must shout out Geveena who looked after us so well at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and her professionalism, charm and smile were a credit to the hotel. Look forward to staying here again.
BelvederePaul (8/5): All the important things the hotel gets very right - We spent a week at the hotel in a superior room in the main house. We would definitely go again. There are definitely pros and cons. This doesn't pretend to be a modern chain hotel. It retains a lot of its older character but still very comfy. We didn't have individual toiletries, or a safe deposit box or a traditional wardrobe but there was a quality wall soap dispenser and plenty of hanging space. The whole hotel and grounds are kept immaculate. As someone who is allergic to dogs I was a little concerned that this is a dog friendly hotel but I need not have worried. It seems that the courtyard rooms are the maindog friendly rooms and the dogs we came across were very well controlled and not intrusive. We cannot speak too highly of the staff. We found the watresses, Shannon, Sarah and Geveena very friendy with Geveena showing a real interest in how we were enjoyed our break. A highlight for us was the swimming pool which is lovely and warm, very well presented and very quiet around 4 p.m. Also the breakfast and dinner were of high quality with hot food, a good selection and well presented. Location wise, the hotel is within striking distance of the main cotswold tourist spots but we particularly enjoyed quiet walks around the lakes using the Waterhay car park. There is constant birdsong from a very wide variety of species. Very healing. We were blessed with a lovely sunny week.

We had to go in to ask to give our order multiple times while we were there, had to ask for dirty glasses and plates to be removed, and even then not everything was cleared. Just lacked what we considered to be basic restaurant service.

My wife and I found every single person "going the extra mile" without complaint. One example was Shannon. She always carried a smile. During our dining she was a true servant asking with a genuine heart if there was anything she could get for us. She truly set the tone for our relaxed and enjoyable dining.

We had an evening meal and the food was delicious and good value for money. The breakfast was delicious lots of choices. All staff were very friendly and polite and helpful. We will definitely be back. The drink prices were quite high. 2 cappuccinos a Fanta and bottle of beer was £20. That’s too pricey.

F437YAnicolap (10/5): The most perfect trip! - Currently staying at this hotel and felt I had to write a review now before I got home and forgot. The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. The grounds and the views are so beautiful. The cream tea was so delicious!! The dinner menu was perfect, the ambiance in the restaurant was ideal, and the restaurant staff gave such good service. Couldn’t fault the pool area - so relaxing! And we played tennis and Discgolf free of charge which was lots of fun. The room was standard - what you’d expect from the price. We would definitely come here again and would really love to stress just how friendly and helpful every single member of staff was!

The rooms with a small kitchenette was very basic. There was a sink, microwave ,kettle and a fridge, but no hob, no metal cutlery, no plates,no dishes or glasses. The bin was small. I don't why there was a microwave because there was no dishes ,bowels or plates to use in it. We had to go out and buy plates, bowls and cutlery from a charity shop. I have never been anywhere where the kitchenette was so bad.

Wendy (9/5): Great find! - Great find! Needed easy overnight to break journey for dog and this exceeded our expectations. Courtyard rooms dog friendly... looking a bit shabby especially marks on bathroom floor but you can't blame them for not investing in dog rooms. Facilities were very good - lovely indoor pool perfect temperature. Bar area nice and food excellent. Staff were amazingly helpful. Lovely grassed areas for letting dog stretch her legs. Stupendous views across the countryside. Honestly unexpected and a great find - would definitely stay again. Only that there's no crockery or cutlery provided in the courtyard rooms although you have a little kitchenette for self catering. But receptionist incredibly helpful finding us some. It's just we had no idea until we arrived. Might be better if room description said no crockery or cutlery provided! Then we'd bring our own.

damianmZ5112XZ (10/5): Easter family stay. - We had a lovely stay at the Cricklade Hotel and really enjoyed our time there as a family. The facilities were great—especially the pool, which the girls absolutely loved. There were also some really nice touches over the Easter weekend, including an Easter egg hunt, which made the stay even more special. We also had fun playing disc golf, which was a great activity to do together and added to the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff were all very welcoming, but a special mention has to go to Destiny on reception, who was so attentive to my girls and made us feel really comfortable throughout our stay. Geneeva at breakfast on our last morning was also amazing—her experience really showed in the level of service she provided. We will be visiting again.
hypnomiss (10/5): Everything perfect - The hotel and staff are just a delight. I was here in the late 90s. I wanted to return to the Cotswolds and remembered a lovely stay. I thought it would likely be run down and disappointing, like many hotels in the UK have become. I was surprised to see a fresh decor, clean and tidy throughout, with happy staff. The pool is warm and clean, with a beautiful view. The rook had everything we needed, with comfortable beds. The conservatory was pretty at night, with fairy lights and we enjoyed a drink with a game we'd brought with us. Breakfast was exceptional - everything cooked fresh, including lots of pastries, again with the view to accompany us, and happy staff. It's so important to me to be served by, and see and hear staff that are working happy. A business that treats their staff well is one I want to support. We'll definitely be back soon.

Small criticisms about awkward old blinds, and blown small window panes show that it could do with a little TLC, but overall a very pleasant stay
