Guest Reviews
- Nigel (8/5): - Pleasant stay but investment needed by Greene King. For a get your head down and leave, absolutely fine. Its very basic. Stayed 2 nights, family of 5. Kids happy with their makeshift beds. Adults happy with the kingsize bed. Comfortable and good nights sleep on both nights. Bathroom tiles had been painted over and was peeling off all over the place. Shower was coming off wall and toilet seat was stained under the seat. Carpet was dirty and probably needed a deep clean. (I have a dust allergy and we can tell how clean carpets are dependent on how tight my chest gets and how weezy i am). Breakfast was decent. Good hot and cold options available. Adele the waitress was excellent. Friendly and requests were no trouble. But again the pub itself looks tired. Requires a good lick of paint inside and out. Like i said it does the job for a basic no frills bed and breakfast but could definitely do with a freshen up.
- Helen (6/5): Could be better if given a bit of TLC - Lovely warm welcome helpful from Reception, on booking in and departing. To be true the Staff are the best thing about the hotel they do you proud. The hotel itself needs a good decoration and fixtures fitting could be better. Cleanliness I think the staff they do the best they can with what they have to work with. Pub opposite lovely and again great staff and food was wonderful.
- Philip (10/5): - Staff you lovely and friendly
- Rosanna (8/5): - Bed was very comfortable, room was a bit tied but was clean
- Graham (10/5): Happy stay - Loved it here
- Sue (10/5): Break - Everything nice and clean, no Netflix available though.
Breakfast served in bar/restaurant next door. Lovely, good variety and freshly prepared. Room well aired and in good condition
- Aimee (8/5): - We had a great stay at Waterside. The room was a bit tired and dated but had the most comfy bed I have had the pleasure of sleeping in for a long time! We would have been lost without the fan provided though as the room was quite stuffy (ground floor with limited opening window) Breakfast was lovely, the portion size of the pancakes was too much for us to handle! Staff were all very friendly and helpful, but we were a bit disappointed that our room was not cleaned or freshened up at all during our three night stay. We didn’t bother raising this at the time, I’m sure if we did it would have been rectified.
- Hannah (2/5): Broken shower and desperate for refurb - I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent stay at [Hotel Name] over the Creamfields weekend (2 nights). Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and fell far short of the standards I would expect, especially given the cost of approximately £450 for two nights.
Firstly, the room itself was outdated, not particularly clean, and in urgent need of refurbishment. However, the most serious issue was the shower. On one morning, when attempting to use it, the shower would not turn off and began spilling boiling hot water both from the shower head and the bath tap. Not only was this dangerous, but it also meant we were unable to use the shower at all.
Despite raising the issue, the problem was not resolved during the day. This left us with no option but to use another room just to be able to shower, which is completely unacceptable given the circumstances and the price we paid.
I do not believe this issue was sudden, as it seemed to be a long-standing fault that should have been identified and repaired before any guest was checked into the room. This, combined with the generally poor condition of the accommodation, left me feeling very disappointed and that the stay represented very poor value for money.
In light of the above, I am requesting a partial refund or suitable compensation for the inconvenience, lack of basic facilities, and the distress caused.
I look forward to your prompt response.
- Jean (10/5): - Nice quite stay nice room
- Louise (6/5): Looks a bit tired. - Rooms are looking tired and in need of decoration, as dirty marks on the walls. Bed sheets had to be changed as they appeared to have mould speckles on. Housekeeping who changed bedding found the clean sheet had a dirty mark on it. Matress protector stained. Breakfast served in the pub across the road, which was plentiful and good. Rooms far too hot even with a fan going all day/night its a pity the windows dont open further but understand due to H& S not possible to have them opening wide perhaps investing in air con with the climare getting warmer. The passageway to rooms were very hot due to the lack of airflow. We would not stay in the hotel again but would use the pub again as the food was good value for money
- Verified traveler (8/5): Family extended weekend break - - Breakfast is v good - Continental buffet + a choice of various breakfasts incl VG & VE
- Rooms are spacious and having a bath tub is a plus
- I'm not fussy with bed comfort but they definitely seemed comfy enough
- Team was very friendly at both hotel and restaurant
- parking available
- Both Chester Zoo and Gulliver's World are easily accessible as well as Walton gardens. All are nice days out for the kids
- Derek (8/5): - Handy base for our trip to the watch the rugby
- Dave (6/5): - It’s advertised food served till 10.00 I went in 8.45 said not serving
- David (10/5): - Good food and excellent staff
- Charles (4/5): Old - Hotel needs renovation
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs updating - Considering the price of an over night mid week stay I would have expected a little more. What I didnt expect was drippong showers, holes in bathroom door, chipped enamel on the bath and holes in the dressing table.
The lack of plugs beside the bed and no aircon, all add to the feel that this place really needs an overhaul!
- Angela (8/5): - Nice hotel, some issues with faulty items, e.g soap dispenser in toilet broken, not enough toilet roll.
- Donna (10/5): - Great stay lovely and quiet where are room is .A little warm in the room but a fan was provided .Fantastic breakfast lovely staff .Free car park which us always a bonus .Lovely drinks area in restaurant .
- Nicholas (8/5): - The stay was good. Nice Breakfast, rooms not attached to pub. All good
- john (4/5): - Ive been over charged for my room.
- anthony (8/5): - What used to be the premier inn, the waterside keeps the same level of comfort and convenience to the pub next door and business park.
- Louise (2/5): - Grim - foisty room, very poor
- Alice (10/5): - Amazing stay. lovely staff but there was no access to the internet on the tv and so could not access netflix or other browsers. Tv was redundant for model use. for note - some other hotels in Warrington have chrome cast
- Andrew (8/5): - Nice stay - very happy with everything. It’s a fairly basic but clean hotel with nice staff. Decent pub next door.
- marie (10/5): Friends trip - The hotel needs updating. Very basic rooms
- AR (6/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful, room not so clean (crumbs under the pillos, sheets didn't smell clean, black mold in the shower).
- Ian (6/5): Could be better for over 100 quid - No hot water in the morning :(
- Kathleen (10/5): Brilliant - The stay was very good nice clean hotel
- Deanna (10/5): Great find - Great stay here not far out off town centre but enough to be a lovely quiet place
Pub is large with meals served and outdoor seating
- DAVID (10/5): - I'd never stayed at waterside edge before but it was an inspired choice, it was an easy walk to bank quay train station and equally easy to walk to parr hall. My first impression was a good one and the reception lady was wonderfully friendly and helpful and we shared a good laugh together.First class.
- Jon-Paul (10/5): Great for a budget - EX Premier Inn, Hotel is separate from the pub so very quiet
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel staff were lovely, room was nice size and bed very comfortable. Bathroom was clean but in need of an update. The bar and restaurant next door was big and really nice and again the staff were lovely.
Had a good breakfast the next morning.
- Mr Ray (10/5): All 👍 - All good
- Sarah (10/5): Family getaway - Great comfortable beds and warm rooms. Very friendly reception
- Dorian (8/5): Business Trip - Business Trip - room clean and tidy, staff very friendly and helpful
- beverley (10/5): - Lovely receptionist on checkin, also evening receptionist was great lovely service when askd for extra sugar, coffee for room.thank you again
- Katie (4/5): Avoid - Sheets and pillow cases all thread bear. Towels covered in yellow stains and very old. Shower disgusting and filthy. Won’t be back.
- Ian (6/5): - Rooms clean enough but getting very tired and worn.
No power near bedside. Shower over a bath not great, proper shower preferred by travellers.
Beefeater esc eatery next door as expected.
All in , better options out there for the money.
- David (8/5): A pleasant suprise - Had to stay over in Warrington at shortish notice, found this place and it looked nice plus the price was quite low, I wondered what the catch was, there wasn't one.
It was fab all the staff were smiley and friendly ,the room was clean, the breakfast was great and it had parking!
Really close to the centre of things too. Would recommend and stay here again.
- Julie (8/5): - Great staff, food in the pub was surprisingly good. Hotel is in need of a refurb (bathroom in particular) but clean and comfortable enough.
- Heather (4/5): Dirty bathroom. - Receptionist told us there had been a leak in one of the rooms and she had moved everyone but theres room for everybody, the room we were getting 15 was not in use that day and might not have cuos and coffee, no appology , very basic info. The room was ok, dated bit scruffy but the bathroom was shocking, black mould round bath & on the ceiling, plug overflow fallen off and dirty, door frame and skirtings dirty and cracked. On checkout there was no one to complain to . Not worth £90.
- michelle (4/5): - Dated, basic, no attention to detail with decor or fixings. Key hole loose. Bathroom needs a good clean and the room needs bringing up to date. Shabby and sad place to stay. You can hear every noise especially from the room upstairs above us
- Colin (8/5): - Fine affordable
- Pauline (10/5): - We arrived ahead of time & were weary from our 8hr ferry journey. The minute we walked through the door we were uplifted by the friendliness of the staff & the warm ambient mood of the restaurant. We were seated quickly & throughout the whole time received nothing but professional curtious service. Our food was exemplary. It arrived quickly and tasted amazing I had the rainbow salmon on a beautiful crisp salad & kids a chicken sharer meal followed by dessert. The following morning after our stay at the adjoining hotel we enjoyed a full on continental & cooked breakfast which was included in the price of the booking. Everything tasted perfect and the range available on the continental bar was all we could wish for. The outside of the restaurant is so beautiful too which we mostly missed the night before because it was dark. It would make a perfect setting for a wedding or any special event. You wouldn't believe you were in a busy town, its like it's in its own bubble of bliss.
When ever we visit Ireland from now on this is where we will chose to stay. I recommend it to everyone.
We are now seeking out our own local Green king restaurant because we were so impressed by Waterside.
- Ellouise (10/5): - Great place to stay, close to town centre.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Mouldy bathroom, Just generally run down and unkept. Fire alarm went off that disturbed sleep and there was a police incident shutting the dining options opposite . The Police incident couldn’t be helped but overall the property seems to have gone down hill quickly.
- Geoff (4/5): - Looks great from the outside but is tired, dirty and poorly maintained.
Some staff are friendly and others not so.
- Wendy (10/5): - Shower/water pressure poor room furnishings quite tired (room 40) can’t comment on other rooms. Cleaned to a high standard…can only work with what they have.
Staff exceptional, restaurant fantastic
Overall value for money …would stay again
- Andre (8/5): - The property was good, well priced and the breakfast was lovely
- John (8/5): - Very clean.. Staff were great.. 👍👍
- Keith (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay
- Ralph (6/5): Basic - Feels very basic, never anyone on reception
- Paul (6/5): In need of a renovation - I was looking forward to staying in The Waterside. Hadn’t realised it would be so tired and in need of a renovation.
- Danielius (10/5): - Staff very move and make you welcome
Also food in restaurant was really good.
In the evening we had steaks, morning breakfast was good as well.
- Adam (2/5): - Was kept awake by loud guests also I found a renting kill pest control container under the bed which my 3 year old daughter found it’s lucky I grabbed it out of her hand otherwise she would of been in a lot of trouble if she put her fingers in her mouth.
- Keith (10/5): - Ideal for what we wanted
- Gareth (8/5): Good value stay - Comfortable large room. Decor looking a bit aged now but perfectly acceptable. Massive plus was the bar and restaurant where we had a very good evening meal at reasonable cost and great service. Breakfast was average. We will use this hotel again
- Luke (2/5): - The hotel had the strongest smell of drugs and tobacco coins from the first floor of rooms. We couldn’t sleep because of the smell. When addressed with the staff they said it came from outside, but the hotel was isolated location and clearly it was in the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Shower was a bit on the grubby side and could do with some tlc
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not been cleaned since it was premier inn - Filthy throughout mould all over bathroom.. blood on bathroom door.
Mud/poo on bed
- Alan (8/5): - Pub next door is a major plus. Property appears to have formerly been a premier inn and is a little in need of a lick of paint but was comfortable. Room was quite hot but a fan was available
- Alan (8/5): Good location - Friendly staff. Hotel is a little tired but ok for an overnight stop. With car park. Good food in the restaurant next door.
- valerie (8/5): - Convenient for where we needed to be.
Booked a twin room but was made up into a double
- Martin (4/5): Desperately needs a total makeover - Hotel and rooms feel stale and in desperate need of an update, it would be unfair to say it wasn’t clean but it didn’t feel it, the bath has black mold and the shower had poor pressure.
- DEV (8/5): - Sofa bed uncomfortable but otherwise was good
- Janet (8/5): - The only issue I had was the shower, it badly needed replacing. I only stayed for one night, I couldn't bring myself to use it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - waterside in warrington is clean and tidy and well looked over will be staying again and the food inthe bar and grill is fantastic
- Andrew (4/5): Tired rooms and mouldy bathroom - Rooms are very tired, stayed here a while ago and it was nice. Now our room had a bathroom with mouldy black silicone around the bath, some which was peeling away. The tile grout was dirty and the plug was black from corrosion. The shower sprayed upwards as well from the bath where it was leaking from, water markls on the bathwoom ceiling. My wife would not have a bath due to the condition and cleanliness. The bed was however comfy and a good breakfast.
- David (6/5): - The maid never even went into the bathroom on the first morning because there was still a towel on the floor and one in the bathtub when I got back in the evening. Fresh towels were delivered promptly by reception though. There was a hole in the bathroom door and a couple of badly cracked tiles, the cold water tap on the bath didn't work either.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, quiet, good parking and great food from the Greene King next door
- Jim (6/5): - Nice hotel and a warm welcome but a bit run down and the bathroom was needs a good clean.
- Francesco (4/5): Poor room's condition - Outside it is very nice. However, the room was quite dirty and the overall impression was that it needs to be refurbished.
The pub was very nice and good food.
- Francesco (4/5): Poor room's condition - Outside is very nice. However, our room was dirty and the overall impression was that it needs to be refurbished.
The pub was very nice and good food.
- Ann (8/5): - Needs a bit of upgrading, ie.bathroom.new duvets, (stains) otherwise clean.
- Nancy-Lynn (6/5): It was ok - It was fine. The bathroom had a bit of mould and rust and was in need off updating. The bedroom was clean and comfy. Staff friendly.
- Emma (10/5): - .
- Michael (4/5): Tired hotel - Room was very very tired and extreamly basic photo on hotels.com is not of the hotel but the pub on the opposite side of the road
- Stuart (6/5): - A convenient motel, well situated for visiting Liverpool and Manchester. A bar and restaurant which were adequate for our needs. Upon arrival we noted a broken bedside light which was hanging from its fitting; whilst still working it was potentially dangerous & was reported to reception- nothing was done to rectify it! The grouting and sealant around the bath was mouldy and the bathroom as a whole was somewhat dilapidated. The hydraulic hinge on the door was leaking oil which was running down the door itself.
On the whole the good selection on the breakfast menu was a saving grace and the waitresses were friendly.
I have photos to back up these comments.
- Paul (10/5): - The hotel was really good all the staff were very helpful and professional. It was in a lovely location within a 15 minute walk from the train station and Parr hall, (the venue we were visiting). The pub dinner adjacent was very good, again with excellent staff and service. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Warrington.
- Nicol (2/5): Avoid big time - Arrived late Suday night for a 3 day stay for work, only room available last min was Room 5 and a quadruple room which was a double bed, a single bed in the corner and a mattress on the floor, being a work visit i was too bothered just needed a place to stay as usual place was fully booked. overall condition of the room was shocking very tired, dated and damaged interior but the cleanliness of the room was shocking, stains on the walls and carpets, curtain runner was hanging off and body hair in the bathroom but worst of all was the black mould around the bathroom door frame which was a health concern, i raised my concerns and asked to move room the next day but unfortunately were fully booked but they would leave a note for housekeeping which i said fair enough I'm here for work if its cleaned il leave it at that, but nothing was done on Tuesday's house keeping nor was anyone about reception to further speak to so decided to take further, the adjacent pub isn't much better with breakfast being abandoned on the 2nd day for poor food quality. fellow colleague stayed also in a standard double room and his experience wasn't much better, i wont be back to the waterside and advised colleagues to do the same
- Darren (6/5): Mixed bag - Hotel staff were friendly if a little slow to check in. Rooms are in desperate need of an update and are very tired. Food in the pub next door was nice with good service although the price of a pint was a bit on the high side.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff was very friendly.
The walls in my room (#24) were dirty and there was also a whole in one. Lights were very dim in the bathroom.
Room was advertised as quadruple (1 king, 1 single, 1 sofa). Not that I needed it but just so you know, the sofa was missing...
- Neil (8/5): Okay for the price - Decent enough for what was needed, clearly tell this is an old premier inn. Beds are comfortable.
Rooms are tired and the shower / bathroom could do with a spruce up but for the price it’s good value.
- Brendan (4/5): Rooms needs to be revamped - The location is good however the rooms are very tired. Bathroom needs to be ripped out and replaced. The furniture and TV dated and needs replacing. Carpet stained and worn that needs replacing.
I think the room was cheap for a reason.
- Gail (10/5): - Local to to town centre easy access
- Lee (10/5): - Ok places to stay if you’re going to town and not from the area
- Vickie (10/5): - I stayed here while i was on training. The bed was the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in.
Basic rooms, but had everything i needed
- Brian (6/5): - The building and our room were both pretty basic, and had seen better days. A bit miserly with the coffee sachets and I hate having to open my suitcase on the floor. The shower (in a high-sided bath with no safety rails) was just a hand-held and the water pressure was a joke. We had to ask for a second towel … for a double room. At least it was a roof over our head.
- Gerard (6/5): Mediocre but does for a pinch. - The best thing about the stay was the food. The room itself was grimmy, had damp on the woodwork and the carpets were dirty.
- Philip (10/5): - Great location to walk into town, hotel was clean and spacious rooms.
- Timothy (6/5): - The staff were lovely. The room was tired, the toilet seat was loose and the shower spewed water everywhere from the wall joint.
- George (8/5): - Nice room could use a mini fridge in room. Staff was great and friendly .
- Ian (6/5): - Good location with close proximity to the town centre. The outside of the hotel looks very good, however the room was in need of refurbishment, particularly the bathroom that had old and tatty fittings and mold around the bath and on the shower curtain.
- alan (10/5): - Lovely hotel and staff
- Gerard (8/5): Basic accommodation but of good quality - Good location and the adjacent pub offered a good selection of food and drink. Relaxing place.
The room has no A/C but does have a fan, which was sufficient.
It’s fairly basic but good value for money and the staff are pleasant.
- Rita (10/5): - Location
- Liam (4/5): Disappointed - Hotel was very run down and filthy.
Was very expensive as there was an event nearby.
Staff were very helpful and polite
- Jo-Ann (10/5): - Reception and checkin was friendly and helpful. Room was great and plenty of space. Handy to pub and plenty of parking. Totally recommend.
- Leonard (4/5): - The condition of the room and cleaning-less are poor.
- Marie Kelly (2/5): - In great need of upgrade I asked for low down too as I’m disabled got top floor. Rooms cleanliness terrible no bard to climb in bath to have a shower slipped going into bath
