- van (10/5): - The room was big enough for three and clean. The breakfast was a nice treat.
- Suzanne (9/5): Lovely little hotel In a great location - Lovely room and spotlessly clean. In a great location near the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was rather hot and close to a busy road so didn’t have the best night’s sleep.
- susan (9/5): delightful -
- Mats (8/5): - Trevlig personal och bra läge Ingen scotish breakfast
- Steven (9/5): -

- Stephanie (2/5): Bathroom light makes this stay a no. - Well located. Appears updated from the outside. The pictures are misleading about how updated versus rundown the rooms are. The bathroom looked very scuffed up. But the worst part was a glaringly bright light turns on when you get near the bathroom and there is no way to turn that function off. Which means, a middle of the night bathroom run, turns into 2 hours awake from the brightness. The bathroom door also slammed loudly and was hard to even keep open for a moment.
- Diane (8/5): Good visit - Location, staff and breakfast were great! The room ( bedside tables) needed a good wipe! Very dusty
- ann (10/5): Excellent - Very clean staff were friendly good location would recommend it
- Leslie (9/5): -
- sue (7/5): It served it’s purpose for a night - Breakfast times and food No lift should have requested ground floor
Location area a little run down

- Barr (7/5): - Staff were nice Bed uncomfortable, room and hotel was hot,no air,no lift to 3rd floor.
Choice of breakfast wasn't to my taste,no Scottish breakfast on offer.
- John (3/5): - Pleasant staff who tried their best. Bed was comfortable. Room #1 was very poor and not as advertised on Booking.com's website.. Room was designed for handicaped individuals and definitely not suitable for persons not confined to a wheelchair. Water in bathroom sink was not hot and staff were unable to adjust. Heating in the room was also poor. Window in room looked out at a solid stone wall. Considering the above room was definitely overpriced.
Also reflects poorly on Booking.com's rating system.
- Fiona (3/5): - Location was ok More like student halls of residence, small dark room, no lounge bar. Photos on website very wide angle and don't reflect actual accommodation. Very very expensive for what it was, for the price expected more
- Richard (7/5): - Comfortable room, clean, close to train and ferry No lifts. Limited choice at breakfast
- Elizabeth (10/5): Amazing staff!! Clean and Great Breakfast but wifi needs an upgrade - The staff decorated the room for us as we came for a hen due and they did a phenomenal job. So communicative, super helpful and just 5 starts for how helpful they were. The breakfast is really good and I was happy with the selection. It was pretty crowded and a popular hotel. I would say it’s the most affordable and modern hotels in Oban so I can see why everyone was there The shower does pool but that’s an easy fix. Wifi was pretty awful so if they fixed that it would really be 100% great stay.
- Jacky (9/5): I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Great location. Lovely staff - Convenient, lovely room, lovely staff The breakfast was a bit lacking
- Natalie (10/5): Super clean, efficient , great beds, shower, breakfast ! - We have stayed I think 3 times here for our daughter dancing at the himdf, and although the price going up at this time is very annoying, we always find the ranald to be super clean, offers everything you want, absolutely love the bed , the breakfast is great too! Nothing to dislike
- Sandra (6/5): Clean basic rooms but lacking character plus very confined spaces, hard to see value compared to other places we’ve stay - Good location
Easy parking out front
Bed comfortable Very narrow hotel with narrow rooms and no lift, everything feels quite confined and possibly very difficult to exit in an emergency
The rooms were very hot and hard to cool down, even in April
Not value for money
- Anita (8/5): - Really good breakfast
- Ilaria (8/5): -
- Marian (9/5): -
Top locatie super ontbijt
- angela (9/5): Our stay at the Ranald Hotel - The hotel staff are so lovely and the rooms are comfy and clean. It is a good location for exploring Oban. I would definitely stay there again. The breakfast was good but a little bit limited on vegetarian or vegan options. The avocado on toast was tasty. As I was there 2 nights it wasn't a problem. If you like sweet things, that gave another option and there were cereals.
- Johannes (10/5): -
- JONAS MIKAEL (8/5): Great overnight stay during our Scotland visit - The Staff was very helpful and did their utmost to make you feel welcome The breakfast room is a very tight space, almost sitting on top of each other, but the staff did their best and were servicing us as best as they could with a warm smile
- Alexandra (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay at The Ranald and would certainly stay there again if we were in Oban - Breakfast really good considering the limited space available for staff to prepare .
Staff very accommodating
Towels in bathroom lovely and fluffy Needed to use accessible toilet downstairs when we arrived .Toilet being used for storage and lock not working .
- Massimiliano Aschieri (8/5): - Struttura carina e accogliente.
Molto vicina al centro del paese.
Colazione molto buona e fornita.
Camera pulita.

- moragm775 (10/5): Comfortable and relaxed stay. - The hotel was very comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and efficient.
- Carolyn (9/5): Ideal for a short stay. Very clean with excellent staff. - Breakfast catered for all tastes with a wide variety of food and breakfast drinks options. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel location is located very central in the town. Street parking was a bit of a problem, but not insurmountable.
- Smith (10/5): - Great location spotless room and great price.
- Morag (8/5): Friendly and comfortable hotel. - The location was convenient for the station and ferry terminal and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and we liked the choices on the menu. There was no lift and our room was on the third floor which meant a lot of stair climbing!
- Angela (10/5): Lovely hotel would stay again, highly recommend. - Very close to all amenities. Small hotel very welcoming friendly staff. Room was exceptionally comfortable and well laid out. Lovely breakfast too.
- Agnes (9/5): All in all very nice no complaints - Every thing was fine the only problem there was no lift and there were quite a a lot of stairs all In
- Oleg (9/5): - Everything was perfect, location, breakfast, staff were excellent Only one thing I want to mention, nothing means about hotel, this is a parking. There isn’t a private parking, so be ready to pay on street parking.
- Massimo (9/5): -
- maggiesstar (10/5): Amazing hotel and staff. Well worth a visit. - Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Ranald Hotel. The hotel staff all fantastic and very welcoming and accommodating to our every need. Rooms and hotel spotless. Food at breakfast was of a great standard and plentiful. We travelled as a group of three friends and we all had an amazing time. Reception staff so kind and helpful answering all our questions. Thank for making our stay so special.
- catherinesian17 (10/5): Lovely quirky hotel - Lovely hotel. Had room on ground floor. Plenty enough room for 3 nights. Friendly staff and great location. Fab breakfast.
- Damian (9/5): -

- Shino (8/5): Great team, helpful thoughtful and excellent overall stay for an early ferry the next day. - Location was very close to the ferry port and quiet with on street parking out front. The staff even made us a grab bag for breakfast for our early ferry which was very helpful. No parking lot but when we visited this wasn't an issue, could imagine this being trickier in peak season. Safety door on bathroom not ideal and quite a pokey bathroom. Doors all slam a bit.
- Pauline (9/5): Our stay - The breakfast service and food selection was excellent. Thank You Ranald staff. Tbere was no small refrigerator in our room.
- danny (4/5): -
- Jackie (9/5): Perfect for our stay - Breakfast was great. Staff v friendly and accommodating. Location was good. Beds were v comfortable and sheets were crisp and fresh
- G9091ONdianec (10/5): 1 night in Oban - Lovely hotel in the road behind the harbour , nice and quiet and good sized room
- Stewart (9/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): Excellent stay - Very friendly from start.Very clean from entrance to room for the night.A small hotel but well run.Would recommend it if your in Oban for a stay.I'll definitely be going back. Nothing
- Kari-Marie (10/5): Would come back 100% - Comfy bed, clean, great breakfast and friendly staff No lift, so this made it difficult for taking large luggage upstairs no parking for hotel either but lucky enough we found a good one near by at a reasonable price :)
- Katharine (8/5): Convenient, clean and comfortable. - Convenient, clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and efficient.
Bonne ambiance. Rien
- Terry (10/5): - Everything was perfect

- Patrik Paul (8/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Perfect and very relaxing - Staff very friendly, location great.
Room was beautiful, very modern and relaxing
- L (6/5): Room improvable, rest okay - Breakfast Blanket dirty and not correct prepared
- Julie (7/5): - Lovely staff. Lovely breakfast. Great location. Very clean with tea/coffee facilities in the room. Initially our room stank of smoke, however, the staff were quick to move us.
No lift,we were on the 3rd floor, which was unfortunate.
Also, went to have a shower in the morning and the water was cold 🥶
- gerbilhoward (10/5): Lovely wee hotel - We received a one night B&B stay as a Christmas present. We have stayed in the apartments previously and enjoyed them. This was our first time in the hotel and where pleasantly surprised. Our room, 208, was so much larger than we thought it would be after reading reviews. The bed was large and comfortable. Great powerful shower. The room was clean and well appointed. Great blackout curtains. Our room was very quiet despite being beside the stairs. Continental Breakfast was good however we weren’t sure if the menu with hot food was included or not as I’ve read reviews stating that it was free and others that it was £10pp. All of the staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.
- Jens (7/5): Good fresh place for a night in the right place with some annoying feats but still worth it - Extremely clean and seemed recently refurbished. Nice calm location close to the pier and shops as well as restaurants. Parking was easy and free overnight on the street. We stayed here in the beginning of April. Semi-buffet at breakfast. Even though it is newly refurbished, it wasn’t that thought-through. The bathroom had no good place for the toilet bag, the cold spotlight light was coming from behind you and it turned off when you were in the shower! Pitch dark because the door is kept closed with a spring..
- M6809UWanneg (10/5): Oban getaway - Had a great time at tge Ranald,rooms spotless,beds comfortable,staff very helpful and pleasant,great location,will definitely be back again.
- Alessandro (9/5): - Very clean and modern room Room could be a little bit bigger
- Queensmeadow (10/5): Brilliant stay - My husband and I stayed from 3 night itison stay end of March we could not fault the room spacious, great facilities, clean and great shower, stayed in room 208. Breakfast very tasty. All in all great value for money. Parked in tweedale parking short walk from hotel, cost £1 an hour from 9am - 6pm free overnight. Will definitely stay again.
- grahammM7229LN (10/5): Ranald Hotel Oban great place to stay. - Stayed at the hotel from 24th to 27th March. The room was very good, neat and tidy with very comfortable bed. The toilet was clean and shower easy to use. Had breakfast each morning with good menu choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed on an Itison deal which was very good value for money. The hotel is situated close to all amenities. I highly recommend this hotel.
- 912dorothyf (10/5): Overnight Stay - We had an overnight stay at the Ranald Hotel this week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The staff were lovely.
We will definitely be back.
Dorothy and Robert
- Aladrovic, M. (8/5): Family road trip and one-day stay in Oban - For a family of four and a one day stop on our road trip, The Ranald Hotel was a nice place to stay. The staff are great, and helpful. They helped us with useful information on getting around Oban as well as giving recommendations on where to stop for a delicious seafood meal. The room was quite small but very cozy. Breakfast could have been a bit more buffet instead of being 'a la carte', still it was tasty.
- C3468LUandyr (10/5): Fantastic value for money in this well run welcoming Hotel - Spent 2 nights with my wife in the the Hotel, the staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful.
The Hotel allows you to drop off your luggage if you arrive before the 1500 check-in time. We arrived at 1245 and our room was ready early which was a bonus.
We stayed in a standard room on a deal which included 2 nights bed and breakfast.
The room was a decent size clean and warm which was a bonus as it was cold outside.
The room was on the first floor and overlooked the street, there was a bit of traffic noise but not that bad and didn't really bother us.
The room had tea and coffee making facilities and had bottled water and some nice shortbread.
Toilet was clean with good quality towels, shampoo, soap and a great shower.
Breakfast was served in the dining room on the ground floor and although quite small the choice of 3 breakfast times meant all guests were served quickly on arrival.
Hot beverages included a choice from freshly brewed ground coffee, breakfast, herbal or fruit tea and fresh fruit juice & smoothies.
There was a good selection of cereals, yoghurts & fruits, toast, pastries and homemade preserves – all freshly prepared.
Hot food was made to order from a small menu but included a really good choice of quality food we had toasted wholemeal bread topped with a poached egg, bacon, tomatoes and rocket which was really nice with a perfectly cooked poached egg and bacon, other choices of smashed Avocado on toast, pancakes in syrup, porridge etc. was not what I was expecting from a Budget Hotel.
The Hotel must be commended for providing a freshly cooked to order quirky choice of hot breakfast and something a bit different from your usual full Scottish breakfast.
The Hotel has a small bar with a choice of Whiskies, Gins, wine and Beer etc. at reasonable prices.
Although the Hotel doesn't have dedicated Parking there are numerous car parks a short walk away, if you don't want to take your car the Hotel is only 5mins walk away from the main Train, Bus and Ferry terminals, with plenty of buses and trains to major cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh etc. within reasonable travelling distance.
There is also a good local bus service to take you to various places of interest within the Oban area.
CalMac Ferries also operates regular services from Oban to the Scottish Islands, with key routes to Craignure (Mull), Castlebay (Barra), Coll, Tiree, Colonsay, and Lismore. The main crossing to Craignure runs up to 9 times daily, taking roughly 50 minutes, making it a primary route for accessing Mull and Iona.
There are some good walking routes within the Oban area and plenty of restaurants, cafes, and places of interest 5 mins walk away within the town centre and beyond.
The price I paid for this 2 night deal for 2, was fantastic value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Hotel to family and friends as the food, facilities
and hard working friendly and welcoming staff made for a really enjoyable 2 night stay in Oban despite the weather. Well done Ranald Hotel! as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say "I'll be back"
- R7208BTlesleyb (10/5): Lovely Hotel - This was my first visit to Oban. It was very easy to find the hotel and parking was good.
The hotel was very modern, clean and the staff very helpful. The breakfast menu was limited but we had bacon and poached egg on toast, which was very nice. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
- TRACEY (10/5): Very happy to stay at the Ranald. Everything was great from location to room to breakfast. Staff we. - Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was very nice. The hotel is a short walk from train station. Nothing. Would definitely recommend
- Scenic795724 (10/5): Not first visit and certainly not our last! - Well situated for all amenities and travel links. Staff friendly and accommodating while remaining professional. Breakfast varied and tasty. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Please note the hotel doesn't have a lift, so request a lower floor if desired. Third visit, hopefully not the last.
- Fiona (10/5): -
- lytur5 (8/5): great break - We enjoyed a great 3 night break at the Ranald Apartments, apartment was in a great location and very well appointed with everything you could need for a short break.
- Administrator (10/5): -
- FifeMac (10/5): Overnight stay - My husband & I spent a short break on 19/3/26. We had DBB. The room was lovely, cosy & clean, we chose to have our Evening Meal voucher for Cuan Mor Restaurant, where the service & food were excellent. Breakfast with you was very pleasant & the food good. The hotel was quiet, despite some work getting done next door. We requested a room on the 1st floor and that is what we got. There were not many amenities within the hotel, however the location was very central and within an easy stroll of all main facilities, including, restaurants, shops, railway station, ferry port etc. Thank you to all staff who were friendly & made us feel welcome, there was a peaceful ambiance about the hotel when we were there, we would gladly recommend your hotel, and hope to see you in the future. We had no problem getting on street parking facing hotel, you paid up to 18.00pm & that was you through to 9.00am.
- P1481CNpeterm (10/5): Oban excellent town great shops and pubs - 3 minutes walk to sea front chilled atmosphere rooms first class. Breakfast amazing excellent staff very friendly
