Guest Reviews
- Ana Carolina (10/5): -
Recomendable 100%.
- Anna (10/5): Memorable stay in a traditional house with a soul and the kindest hosts - Our host was exceptionally kind and welcoming. We truly felt as if we were welcomed as a family.
There was an issue with our originally reserved room, but our host managed to find an even better solution for us. The museum house is beautiful and very well located, so it's easy to find on your own.
We were served amazingly tasty meals, the facilities were comfortable and very clean. But still the best part of the stay is to connect with people and learn about their culture.
We miss Fes already, it was a highlight of our trip to Morocco. We hope to come back in the future! Wish I had reserved a longer stay. 🥲
- Saurabh (10/5): Perfect location and beautiful old Riad. We spent a week there and felt absolutely at home with Omar, Malika and the thr -
- Sava (10/5): Exceptional -
- Takayuki (10/5): I stayed for 4 nights - The hotel is a lovely traditional building. The hotel is in a good location for sightseeing. The rooftop terrace overlooks the old town. I was able to relax in Fez. The hotel owner is a kind person who always takes care of me and gives me advice. I was able to make the best memories.
- Ruta (10/5): Exceptional - This was very authentic and pleasant stay in Medina of Fes. This Riada is extraordinar! You can feel the traditions and the culture. The owner was super helpful, friendly and very warm. He helped us a lot and provided recommendations. The rooftop and terrace were stunning! Breakfast were served and were good, traditional. We ordered dinner from the owner and it was wonderfully tasty. - the best food we had in Fes. We lived in a shared big room with friends. The toilet was in the same room. You could not relax while in the toilet.
- Debbie (7/5): Fes stay - Very helpful host, nice terrace with cat & tortoises, many interesting items in the dar. There was quite a strong septic smell in our room.
- Sebastian (8/5): Very good - Very nice place and Omar is great! Very Good location. Very Good food too.
- Lehel (10/5): Nice experience and a chance to meet the Arabic culture. - The guest is befriending everyone, very attentive, yet discreet. After a night in a cave-like room (excellent probably in hot summer) we got an extra-large spacious room that was extremely nice to stay in. The room had a lot of exciting photos from old journals, documenting different periods of FES. On the top of the building there was a nice panorama, overseeing the old medina.
All in all, a complete cultural experience.
- Marcus (10/5): Near perfect - Omar is a fantastic host who goes out of his way to make sure his guests have everything they need. As other reviewers say, the location is perfect. It is x in the heart of the medina, but is quiet and has great views across the city to the hills beyond to accompany your ample breakfast. Access to a kitchen is a bonus. One tip is to choose your room with care as some have more natural light than others. That apart, you can't go wrong staying here.
- Ronald (10/5): Memorable and insightful and Delicious breakfasts - The location was perfect to explore the old city of Fes. A beautiful view of the city from the terrace along with the three turtles that roam the garden level of the Dar. Fantastic memorabilia within the Dar itself. Amer is an exceptional man. Nothing negative to say
- Marzena (9/5): Superb -
- Güzin (10/5): I had such a wonderful time at this riad, especially on the terrace. Watching the old Medina, the co -
- Nour (5/5): Friendly staff, wonderful view but very bad food! - The staff were very kind and especially Omar who offered us a great lunch the last day! The location is great and the view wonderful! We were in a room near to the kitchen so very noisy starting from 8 am additionally the smell of the bathroom was terrible and the pressure of the shower not very good. The food was below average compared to moroccan level (I am moroccan) , we had two dinners- first dinner: pastilla (very dry) and harira, second dinner: chicken with charmoula that was not very tasty especially for Fes, a city renowned for it is culinary art. We had also four breakfasts: no amlou( a moroccan mixture of almond butter and argan oil), no honey, no beldi butter (tradional moroccan butter), no olive oil or jben (moroccan cheese) while these ingredients are the main constituents of an authentic moroccan breakfast, the french pastries (croissants…) were unchewable, the coffee was bad so my mom asked for nescafe instead, we had to ask for scrambled eggs instead of the boiled eggs we were served the two first breakfasts. In a nutshell apart from the lunch Omar offered us the last day, the food was terrible and below average, for breakfast for example you can have 100 better quality with 35 dhs outside (3 euros).
- Tarik (10/5): Exceptional - Nice family place with very kind staff
Thank you Mr. Omar for this beautiful experience.
- Marcello (9/5): Omar is the best host that you can find - the place was amazing, in the center of the Medina, i really loved Omar, he was so kind and he also cooked breakfast for us everyday, i was so happy to cook with him, it was like we met each other years ago! The panoramic view from the terrace was stunning and i loved every part of it. Omar also cooks very good food i really recommend you to try a dinner at home, thank you so much! I have nothing bad to say, you have to consider that you are traveling to Morocco, so don't pretend a five star hotel with extra comfy bedrooms etc... in any case i don't think that you can find anything better than this house for this price!
- Juan (10/5): An excellent host in Fez - An excellent host
- David (10/5): My house is your house - Traditional Riad spacious and quiet relaxing area.
- Rachel (8/5): Welcoming host, beautiful house, delicious tea and meals, excellent location. - The host is a wonderful cook and made us feel very welcome . Delicious meals. Location is perfect. The tea is the best we’ve had in Morocco (grateful he taught us how to make it). A beautiful haven to retreat to after a day sightseeing. Definitely recommend. The only thing would be to have a fan in the bedrooms. Got a little warm in summer. Other than that, a wonderful stay.
- Martijn (9/5): Top price/quality ryad in the medina! - Great ryad in the middle of the medina with a super owner who gave us a warm welcome and did his utmost best to make our stay memorabele. Great food, great vieuw for a very good price. Recommended!
- Michael (10/5): Incredible place, location and a fabulous, kind, helpful and informative host. - This was a fantastic place to stay, Omar our host was incredibly welcoming and incredibly kind and made our stay and visit to Fes an experience to remember. Breakfast was served every morning on the rooftop terrace which was delicious and mint tea served in the evenings.
Omar was very informative and helpful in assisting us with day tours. He was a pleasure to spend time with discussing the local culture and swapping tales.
The location of the Riad was ideal being in the middle of the height of the street activity and close to cafes and access to all the incredible places to visit such as the tanneries.
The family room was great, clean and the beds comfortable. My stay was beyond my expectations and I would not change a thing.
- Mouna (10/5): Exceptional - An unforgettable stay at this charming riad! From the warm welcome to the beautifully appointed room, every detail exceeded expectations. The attentive staff made us feel at home, and the central location allowed easy exploration of the city. Each morning, we savored the delicious breakfast with delightful local flavors. It was the perfect oasis after exciting days of sightseeing. The memories we made here will stay with us forever. Thank you to the wonderful team for creating such a remarkable experience. We can't wait to return for more magical moments at this exceptional riad! Si Omar you're amazing
- Lucía (10/5): Lovely stay - What truly set this accommodation apart was the remarkable hospitality provided by Omar. His genuine and friendly demeanor made us feel like I was staying at home than at a hotel. He was kind, friendly and always having very thoughtful gesture with their guests. The views form his terrace of the medina where outstanding not to mention the fantastic location on the main street of the city. There is no doubt we would repeat. The room ventilation could be better specially for the hot summer nights.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - I rarely post reviews, but I had to on this one occasion. You will NOT find a nicer, friendlier and more helpful host than Omar...Anywhere! And a great place to stay in the heart of The Medina. Superb roof terrace. Great breakfasts. Lovely, old-worldly rooms. Oh...and don't forget to bring lettuce for the tortoises. Thanks a Million, Omar!!
- Miran (9/5): Location on the Rue Talaa Kebira, in the Medina, excellent food, friendly host Omar and the staff. - Accommodation is in old Fez in the Medina. 15 min walk from the car park, beautiful medieval building, tastefully furnished with antiques, nice terrace overlooking the Kairaouine Mosque, Medina. Delicious breakfasts, the best thé à la menthe in Fes, cucumber smoothie, friendly host, always ready to help Old city center are exotic, especially in Africa.
- Mike (8/5): fab - great host and chef,, traditional, interesting Riad,, good times
- Dawn (7/5): Could be great - Excellent location in the Medina and like its name, it is beautifully decorated with historical artifacts. The views from the rooftop are fantastic. The host was very friendly and helpful when some of us got sick. Decent breakfast. We had a family room which was really large. Our room was on the first floor and the sewer smell from the bathroom was really strong, even in the bedroom, which made it difficult to enjoy. We encountered this at other places in Morocco but it affected our stay here. It may have been worse because our room was on the first floor.
- Anna (9/5): Museum stay - It was literally like staying at the museum! Such a beautiful place with so many pretty details and the rooftop is offering the best views of the Medina. Make sure to wake up early to catch a sunrise up there.
And the staff with the owners were amazing, they went above and beyond to help us out when we needed to go to the hospital with our daughter! So big thanks to them!!!
Location was prime as well, right in the heart of Medina!
Would definitely stay there again. Shower was over flooding
- Heštera (9/5): Superb -
- Dario (3/5): Poor - Good location. The host seemed nice one we told him we were leaving We had the room right next to the kitchen. Since the windows from the room to the inside of the Riad were open air, we heard every single sound, not just from the kitchen, but from the entire Riad, as the the building structure acts an echo chamber. The bathroom smelled horribly and was pretty dirty. The smell made it's was into the bedroom. The host seemed unwilling to do anything about any of this until we told him we were finding another place. Then he started being nice and tried to offer us another room (right next to the existing room, but for more money). Was hard to tell if his change in tone was because he was afraid of getting a bad review, or maybe it was late in the day and he was still fasting for Ramadan. Anyways, we found another much nicer place and couldn't figure out how this place had such good reviews. It wasn't particularly nice. The bathroom was disgusting.
- Laureberardi (10/5): Exceptional - Omar is a fantastic host, always ready to please and to help! Yes, the house is a very old one, so of course, you will experience a real Fassi way of life, and maybe miss some modern comfort. But rooms are charming, very clean, bathroom with everything and hot water, and nice decoration.
All is genuine here!
It was an honour to share a Ftour, during Ramadan, in this incredible house.
Breakfast on terrace is amazing!
Thanks a lot, Omar, we would love to come back and listen to your stories! Be careful of stairs, there are quite a few :)
Some mats can be a bit hard, because they are pure moroccan hand made.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Sergi (10/5): Exceptional - Omar is very good person and help you in everything, and he is very interested in make your estance very comfortable. We will recommend 100%.
- Susanne (10/5): thank you Omar, we hope to see you again and stay even longer next time. - We Loved Omar, his personality, the Food and the Amazing rooftop Terrasse with a view over Fes. Our three year old daughter was also in love with Omar and they ended up being good friends - really cute. the vibe here is just really good. nothing to say. all fine.
- Dominika (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place, great host, delicious breakfast, great location.
- Cristopher (10/5): BEST EXPERIENCE - I've been in many countries and different hostels/hotels and it has been one of the best experience so far. Omar was so kind, very worried about every detail. The breakfast was delicious, very typical from Morroco. We enjoyed drinking the mint tea every morning and night. I really recommend to have dinner there.
- Ulrich (8/5): Very good - Atmosphere.
- Niamat (10/5): Unique experience of staying in an old traditional house in the heart of Fes Medina - Beautiful ancient family house in the heart of Medina. The host is a very kind and generous man. Always willing to help. He also offered us nice soup and tea out of goodwill when we arrived. The house is 700 years old passed on to him through generations. The interiors are no less than a museum. Very clean, well decorated and beautiful. It was a pleasure to stay in this building as we kept admiring and taking pictures of the interiors designs and antiques throughout our stay. A unique experience to remember. Good value for money. Highly recommended to everyone traveling to Fes.
- Konstantin (7/5): Good -
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house in the middle of the Medina. Very hospitable owner. It is also a nice place for children to stay, there is a lot of care and attention for them. Nearby you can park the car at "Parking Ain Azlitenen" there are men with luggage carts who bring you to the house for 20-30 dirhams, ideal!
- Neta (10/5): Exceptional - Dar Melyani is an excellent place to stay. The location is wonderful, inside the Medina, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, with great water pressure in the shower! But best of all is Omar, the owner of the dar. His hospitality is unparalleled, and he was very helpful in organizing tours and directing us to places off the beaten track. Would absolutely recommend!
- Nesya (10/5): go for it! - perfect location, best hosts in morocco and great food.
we'll absulutly return!
- Hossam (10/5): Exceptional - It' was a fantastic experiment , Very kind staff, always smile in our faces, very clean rooms ,beds and path room, and have amazing roof with charming view, ,as if you are traveling to the past at the 13 century. Hope next year to repeat this one again but with more reservations period . Thanks DAR MELYANI STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION. Nothing
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Cancelled my confirmed reservation the same day I was supposed to check in
- Jose (10/5): - Our welcome in FEZ was not pleasant. People in the streets try to cheat you. The owner of the riad looked after us really well!! Many Thanks
- Beverly (10/5): Omar the owner is a wonderful - Omar is an amazing host guide much more thsn anticipated. We were sad when we had to leave. Highly recommend everything about Museum Riyad
