• Ann-Sophie (5/5): Fantastisk udsigt og kun 5-10 min fra Ella centrum dog op af bakke. Lækker stor terrasse dog et værelse med mærkelig lug - Fantastisk udsigt og ikke alt for langt fra centrum af Ella. Værelset var stort og især terrassen skøn. Personalet var flinke og hjælpsomme selvom kommunikation til tider var besværet. Rengøringen var mangelfuld og hændelser og sengetøj havde en mærkelig lugt. De store lænestole havde man ikke lyst til at sidde i da de var for snuskede. Der var meget lydt og støjen fra vejen var voldsom især om dagen. Der kommer lys ind fra vejen gennem badeværelset som ikke kan trækkes for.

• Melief (10/5): De perfecte keuze voor Ella - Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen door de gastvrouw, we kregen een welkomst drankje en de mededeling dat we een gratis upgrade kregen. De kamer was keurig, het uitzicht fantastisch en het ontbijt geserveerd op ons eigen balkon smakelijk. De locatie is perfect, net buiten het centrum maar met een slimme sluiproute ben je in 5 min in het centrum. Een ware aanrader wanneer je Ella bezoekt!

• Mychele (9/5): Lovely cottage room with stunning view! - I stayed in the double room on my own and the size was perfect! Such a gorgeous view (exactly as described on the website) and very clean. You have to go up quite a few stairs but the staff took my luggage at the start and end of my stay. Breakfast was good too, and the staff spoke decent english, which wasn't always the case during my visit in Sri Lanka. I saw many monkeys from my room, they even came up to my balcony but the staff were always around should there be any issues with them, which there weren't! I had the room without air conditioning, and though I was there in early May, the fan was more than enough to stay cool!

• Lara (7/5): - Views are really stunning. Room is quite big as well. Breakfast is very good. Bathroom had really horrible sevage smell the moment we walked in and our entire stay. That part is really bad. We stayed two nights, the room wasnt cleaned daily - not even the trashbins (we stayed with a toddler and would appreciate daily diper disposal)

• Lena (1/5): - Die Lage und der Ausblick sind wirklich, das einzige Positive!! Dieses Hotel ist für den Preis ein absoluter Witz und hat mit den Bildern auf Booking.com absolut nichts zu tun. Die Zimmer sind extrem laut, direkt an der Straße gelegen und überhaupt nicht schallisoliert – die ganze Nacht Verkehrslärm und bellende Hunde. Schlafen? Kaum möglich. Schon beim Betreten des Zimmers kommt einem ein muffiger, widerlicher Geruch entgegen. Die Bettwäsche stinkt so stark, dass wir Handtücher darüberlegen mussten. Das gesamte Zimmer ist alt, heruntergekommen und einfach nur ekelhaft. Im Zimmer: eine riesige Kakerlake, mehrere Geckos an der Decke und überall tote Insekten auf dem Boden. Die Geckos hinterlassen ihre Spuren sogar im Bett. Die Möbel sind fleckig und so dreckig, dass man sich kaum hinsetzen möchte. Das Badezimmer ist in einem genauso schlechten Zustand – alles verklebt, alt und unhygienisch. Steckdosen mit Wackelkontakt, Lichtschalter komplett verschmutzt. Der einzige Pluspunkt ist der Ausblick – wobei selbst dieser durch eine Baustelle direkt daneben zerstört wird. Balkonmöbel und Polster sind so dreckig, dass man sie nicht nutzen möchte. Fenster sind vergilbt und schmutzig, sodass man die Aussicht kaum genießen kann. Der Gipfel: Für Kartenzahlung sollen zusätzlich 3% berechnet werden – obwohl davon bei der Buchung nichts erwähnt wurde. Für diesen Preis ist das hier eine absolute Frechheit. Wenn dieses Zimmer 10€ kosten würde, könnte man darüber hinwegsehen – aber so ist es einfach nur unverschämt. Die vielen positiven Bewertungen sind für uns absolut nicht nachvollziehbar. Hier stimmt etwas ganz offensichtlich nicht. Wir würden dieses Hotel unter keinen Umständen weiterempfehlen.

• Nicole (8/5): - Die Aussicht ist bei dieser Unterkunft natürlich das Highlight. Wir konnten direkt auf dem Ella Rock schauen und haben diesen Ausblick sehr genossen. Die Gastfamilie ist super hilfsbereit und konnte uns mit allem weiterhelfen. Hatten einmal Frühstück im Zimmer, was super war 👍 Das sich die Unterkunft an einer Kurve einer sehr befahren Straße befindet, muss man sich auf regen Verkehrslärm einstellen. Wer einen leichten Schlaf hat, sollte dies bei der Buchung berücksichtigen. Auch ist die Einrichtung der Unterkunft etwas in die Jahre gekommen und es war hier und da nicht besonders sauber. Da wir nur 2 Tage dort übernachtet haben, konnten wir darüber hinwegsehen.

Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit. Gepäck wird ins Zimmer gebracht. Warmwasser bei der Dusche und funktionierende saubere Toiletten. Eine steile Treppe zu den Zimmern ohne Treppengeländer (für uns kein Problem), jedoch nicht geeignet für jemanden der gesundheitliche Beschwerden hat. Bei Bezahlung mit Karte 3% Zuschlag.

• Ally (5/5): Good location but needs maintenance - The staff were very friendly and the location was great- walking distance to main strip. Views were amazing too. There was an unbearable sewage smell in our room. We had to ask to move rooms after one night, and whilst the new room was a slight improvement, we could smell the sewage odour starting there too. This made our stay very uncomfortable.

Overall, country homes deliver an exceptional visual experience that goes far beyond expectations. If you value tranquility and natural beauty, the views alone make them worth it. • Danielle (10/5): Supermooie locatie met prachtig uitzicht! - Grote, ruime kamer met veel hout, voelt een beetje aan als een berghut met balkon met een super mooi uitzicht. Lijkt wel een schilderij! Heerlijk ontbijt dat op je eigen terras wordt geserveerd. Zeer hoge trap tot aan de locatie, maar aan de achterkant een binnendoor paadje zodat je binnen 10 minuten wandelen in het dorp staat. Waren wat bouwwerkzaamheden naast de locatie.

• Hilde (7/5): - Het hotel ligt een beetje buiten het drukke centrum van Ella. Een zeer grote kamer, eigenlijk voor 4 personen, met 2 dubbele bedden, met eigen balkon en zicht op de bergen. Men bracht het ontbijt naar de kamer maar er zaten al apen op de loer, dus hebben we maar binnen gegeten. Het eigen restaurant is nog in opbouw, men was vlak naast onze kamer aan het werken. We hebben in een restaurantje vlakbij gegeten maar mijn man er daar de volgende nacht zeer ziek van geweest. Daar kan natuurlijk het hotel niets aan doen. Ella zelf is heel toeristisch maar buiten de 9 bogenbrug viel het ons tegen.

The owners and staff were very kind and attentive to anything we needed! Great location to Ella town, just a 5 minute walk up the road. Von dem Balkon aus konnten die vielen Tiere in der Umgebung (verschiedene Vögel, Affen, Streifenhörnchen) beobachtet werden. Das leckere Frühstück wurde einem jeden Morgen von dem sehr aufmerksamen und freundlichen Personal auf den Balkon des Zimmers gebracht, sodass man dieses mit einem herrlichen Ausblick in die Natur genießen konnte. Die Unterkunft ist am Hang an der Hauptstraße zu und von Ella gelegen, wodurch es auch Nachts sehr laut sein kann, wenn LKW sich den Anstieg herauf quälen (Ohropax helfen hier definitiv). In einer Nacht kam ein unerklärlicher Benzingeruch durch die Lüftung im Badezimmer.

• Emma (6/5): Beautiful views but a little run down - The view from this hotel is just stunning. The best bit about the hotel. Breakfast was also really yummy. The view really sells this place because other than that its a bit run down. The air-conditioning isn't great, the toilet seat wasn't attached, the kettle was missing, the TV plugs were a fire hazard. All a bit run down and broken. But the close distance to Central ella and the view make it worth it.
• Luna (4/5): Mooi uitzicht maar wel de kosten uit balans voor hoe het verblijf eruit ziet. - Hele fijne locatie dichtbij het centrum, loopafstand. Mooi uitzicht over de bergen. Ruime accomodatie. Ontbijt was goed en werd bij het verblijf gebracht zodat je op het balkon kon ontbijten. Het is wel echt wat verouderd. Het rook een beetje muf, het voelde niet heel schoon aan en zag er ook niet heel fris uit. Badkamer heel basic. Daarnaast waren ze op het dak aan het bouwen waardoor er water en modder een stukje langs de zijkant van het balkon liep. Voor de prijs die we er voor hebben betaald hadden we er meer van verwacht.

Average accommodation for what is on offer - The thing we most like about staying there was the view from our balcony overlooking the mountains. The location was close to town and away from all of the noise as Ella is a very noisy place to be. The property is very tired. Not a lot of amenities. Breakfast was just ok.

• Daniel (7/5): - Krásná vyhlídka na hory z balkonu. Ubytování je jen kousek do města. Milý personál. Výborná snídaně. V pokoji byl cítit zápach z odpadu na toaletě, který nešel vyvětrat. Bylo nepříjemné v zápachu usínat. Vybavení je starší a křesla nepůsobila čistě. Z balkonu bylo vidět na vedlejší staveniště, což trochu kazilo dojem. Cena je především za výhled, pokoje tomu příliš neodpovídají.

• Jutta (7/5): Goed! - Fijne ontvangst. Het wordt uitgebaat door locals. Kamer was ok, verwacht geen luxe. Douche was verbazend goed. Het uitzicht was ok, maar ik had iets meer rust en (nog) mooier uitzicht verwacht. Je zit redelijk dicht bij de baan en je balkon grenst aan andere kamers.

• Lara (8/5): Relaxing Stay with Beautiful Views - We really enjoyed our stay at Country Homes. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner, who was incredibly lovely and welcoming. We were offered a drink on arrival, which made us feel instantly at home. The property is perfectly positioned close to the town centre and within easy walking distance. The views were incredible, and the whole place had such a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was also lovely. We truly loved our stay here and would happily return. Like some of the other reviews have mentioned, the property could benefit from a few internal updates. It doesn’t necessarily need to be modernised, as the timber look and overall character are part of its charm, but small improvements like new beds, curtains, and furnishings would really help elevate the space.

Breakfast was served to us on our balcony each morning and was a good selection of food. Our room had a huge picture window and a large balcony with comfy chairs and bean bags to view stunning scenery. There is just a huge feeling of calm here. The room was great with a large shower and a huge bath. The bed was large and so comfy. The view is so magnificent that we did not even bother to close the curtains. • Ronald (9/5): Heerlijk verblijf - De kamer was basic maar een prachtig balkon met een fantastisch uitzicht op Ella Rock. Ontbijt werd op de kamer gebracht. Goede douch en warm water. 10 minuten lopen naar het centrum. Wij hadden een scooter gehuurd van de eigenaar, op de terug weg van onze trip deed de scooter het niet meer. Via WhatsApps een bericht gestuurd dat wij met pech stonden. Na een tijdje werden wij opgehaald door de tuk tuk die zij hadden gestuurd. maar van de eigenaar hoorden wij niks van sorry ik zal een andere scooter voor jullie regelen. Dat viel tegen.

The showers were hot and powerful. The hotel is a short walk away from the main part of the city, with many restaurants along the way. Having breakfast on the balcony was one of my favorite experiences.

• David (10/5): Wonderful view and lovely hotel - The view from our room was astonishing; surely one of the best in Ella, looking between Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak to the plains. In many years of travel, I don't recall better... The room and balcony were spacious, very comfortable and the AC was the quietest of our trip so far. Breakfast was more than generous - loved the hoppers especially! There's a small back gate to the road into Ella, which is a 5 min walk maximum.... All the staff were wecoming and friendly and eager to help - Hasiya and his friend did a great job. We've already stayed in 3 wonderful places in SL, but Country Homes sneaks it. Highly recommended. • Sonja (8/5): - The view from the balcony was breathtaking. Beds were comfy. The staff was really helpful, carried our heavy luggages up the narrow stairs and ordered us tuktuks when needed. There was quite a strong damp smell in the room when we first arrived, keeping the doors open for a while helped little bit. Also warm water ran out quickly and there was little ants in the bathroom (although harmless and we didn't notice them anywhere else in the room).
• Wierenga (8/5): Heerlijke accomodatie - Heerlijke plek met heel mooi uitzicht. Bonus is de ruimte in de kamer en het grote balkon. Lieve eigenaresse. Verder heel fijn op loopafstand van het centrum. Na een paar dagen raak je best overprikkeld door al het verkeer. Vooral in het centrum van Ella.
• Koen (10/5): Super gelegen, prachtig uitzicht en supergastvrij. - De ligging net buiten het drukke centrum van Ella is perfect, uitzicht op Ella Rock en ontbijt op eigen balkon zijn heerlijk. Niets.

• Kiki (10/5): Hele fijne accommodatie om volledig tot rust te komen. - De rust, het uitzicht en de prachtige locatie Je moet geen spullen op het balkon laten liggen ivm apen
• Martijn (8/5): Heerlijk - Het uitzicht is geweldig en je kunt heerlijk ontbijten op het balkon Alles was goed aan deze accomodatie
• Noella (1/5): Horrible experience - Nothing to like in this hotel. It’s an awful place, situated in a dungeon. Room , linen, towels so unclean. No one feels safe in the property. Not at all worth for money paid.. not recommending to anyone. .
