Daniel (7/5): Stylish place to stay, but with flaws - Stylish, beautifully decorated. Very helpful staff. Excellent restaurant for dinner. Nice views. Poor noise insulation, so I could hear people moving around in adjacent rooms and talking outside. As a result, difficult to go to sleep early, when people were still up. One wall of bedroom is glass, looking out on foyer. So little privacy unless blinds closed, in which case there is no natural light.

Angusdj (9/5): Pablo provides stylish and friendly stay. - We especially liked the friendliness of the hotel team and the genuine interest they had in our wellbeing. They made us feel most welcome. We also were really impressed with the quality of the hotel transfer to the airport after our stay. The artwork is amazing and the hotel's location is fabulous. High quality bed. A few things could do with a bit of maintenance. It would be great if there were a hotel gym.

The staff are friendly and helpful and always smiling ... the food, well, you are in safe hands with them ... the feel of this place is relaxed yet so very vibrant with art pieces on the walls to purchase so you have your own little piece of africa with you always ... absolutely love staying here when i go back home from the UK ... the rooms are tastfully decorated, spacious and clean ... i would recommened this place to anyone visiting Johannesburg or even wanting a relaxing staycation or date night ... sophie (10/5): - I love this place, we have stayed in a few hotels in berg over the years but this one is our fav because its so chill, arty and loving. It feels like youre in a nature reserve at the top of the hill in the greenery. It feels like they really support local artists as the art is amazing and you can also buy in the reception. The food and bar selection is always delicious - wood fire T bones, wood fire prawns etc. We know about this place as our local friends always come here for the Pizzas as a group meet. We prefer the bigger rooms like the loft as its like a home with a kitchen and the ceilings are super high. I would stay here over the Four Seasons for a more local art scene view of Jberg.

Pieter Johannes (8/5): - Lovely staff and a warm welcome with a great cocktail makes you want to come back. Our bed was super comfortable and with a great view including a weaver bird tending to his nest. It's certainly a unique space to experience something authenticly and lesser known about the Joburg Northern suburbs. It's unfortunate about the typical low water pressure and shower design, which is also way too small. It splashes all over the floor next to your only toilet. A geyser decided to trip just as we were ready to take a shower after a long tiring day and weren't in the mood to wait an hour for hot water. Inconveniently placed light switches, a crucial spotlight flickering and power sockets dating from 1940's without a place to sit down and blow your hair in front of a mirror may all be acceptable by South African standards, but to my Japanese partner unimaginable how that could pass.

Best we've had in a long time, and the views are spectacular. Beyond that, we had a lovely, restful stay. The venue is beautiful and all staff and security (especially at the parking area) were extremely friendly and very helpful. Thank you team Pablo house! The wooden floors inside the double rooms are beautiful, but the creaky floor boards made it hard to move around without making a lot of noise. We could hear our neighbours and I'm very sure they could hear us.

Comfy bed and nice water pressure. Would definitely stay again. Wish the breakfast started a little earlier (starts at 730), didn't get to enjoy it in time for our departure either day.

Van (10/5): Best hidden secret of Johannesburg - I just spent here a day and night as a transfer (twice) for my holiday in Mozambique, but I regret I didnt book any days longer, only because of this hotel! It s Joburgs' oasis on the ridge, very secluded, with splendid, stunning views, beautiful gardens, excellent service, delicious breakfast, lunch and dinners. Service and kitchen deserve Michelin stars! Everything was perfect
Amandine (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was friendly and the food at the restaurant was very good. We were staying in one of the rooms next to the restaurant and it was extremely noisy (from the restaurant itself but also from the neighbouring rooms). Also the water pressure was super low in the morning to the point that it was barely enough to shower (the receptionist seemed to be surprised when we told her so it might just have been bad luck) We dined at the restaurant and the food was good however it was so noisy that you couldn't have a conversation without leaning close to your interlocutor.
Ilona (4/5): Very disappointing. Third time we have been here and standards have really dropped. - The breakfast is always great! They subsided no gluten free bread with breakfast potatoes which I appreciated. I liked the sauna in our Villa. It would help if the staff themselves knew the features of the property and could orientate you to the room. Side lights and some ceiling lights weren’t working and I was told they are just for show. The lady who showed us around told us we were mistaken and that there was no sauna. There was a sauna and we had to go back to then found out how to work it. The phone in the room has no connection and I had to go back to reception yet again to get the number and let them know. The bottle opener did not work- another trip back to reception. The latch on the sliding back door did not stay locked and the security guard had to jam it with a key to prevent it opening. Big security risk. Possibly the worst thing was ordering 6 bottles of water from the bar. My husband opened and started to drink from a sparkling water bottle and realized it was some form of alcohol. We took it back and were told that it was an accident and sometimes the bar staff store excess mixes in water bottles and keep it in the fridge. Totally unacceptable.

DANILO (10/5): - We really hoped to get the opportunity to visit Pablo House because we heard a lot of great things about it. And when we finally arrived we were sooooo happy! There is not so much to say; Pablo House is THE PLACE to stay when visiting Johannesburg! Thank you guys!
Nolwazi (3/5): Poor - I love this venue. I’ve been here several times as day visitor. I love the location, the ambience, the menu offering, etc This time around, I chose a stay over which was not a great experience. Reception by the night host was okay until we asked if possible to have in-room dining as we were tired and preferred quiet time upon at which we were told no and could only consume food at the restaurant. The manner and approach was not great and therefore opted to go to bed but later tried a different server who advised that in-room dining was not a problem and we had food delivered. It was an unfortunate and disappointing experience none the less. Then we were placed in Room 1 - not ideally located as it is right at the entrance so we heard all the ‘noise’ from the guests and kids dining at the restaurant as well as the wooden floor echoes from kids running around and guests walking up and down. Not ideal
Phuti (10/5): The healing space - I had an incredible experience at the hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff treated me like royalty. Benji's welcoming smile while helping me with my luggage and the welcome drinks during check-in made me feel like a queen. The food was amazing. Although the breakfast had a limited selection, it was scrumptious. I had pizza for lunch, and I still crave it while writing this review. The prawns I had for dinner were so juicy and melted in my mouth. The facilities were excellent. It was raining during my stay, but the umbrellas next to our room came in handy. The outdoor area was breathtaking, and I was hoping to lounge by the pool area in the afternoon, but the weather didn't permit. Nevertheless, watching the sunset from my room after the raindrops was more like God's wink. The room was perfect. The moment I walked in and saw the caption about Happiness on the mirror, The affirmation was healing. The contemporary decor, the sinaker, and Netflix made it cosy, especially during the rainy weather. Overall, my stay at this hotel was fantastic, and I can't wait to return. They combined two beds to make a queen but it kept separating at night, so I couldn't enjoy the whole bed and ended up sleeping on one side.

Not much privacy, the room has a glass sliding door onto a shared patio. You can close the curtains, but then there is no natural light or view. The shower floor doesn't feel clean, nor does the bathroom basin. Water comes out of the shower head very badly making for an annoying shower
Olivia (10/5): Perfect retreat in Johannesburg! - We had an amazing stay at Pablo House. Check in was super easy and we were greeted with a delicious iced tea! The room was lovely with all the amenities we needed for our stay, we particularly enjoyed the balcony with a sofa that overlooked some amazing views. We ate both dinner and lunch at the in house restaurant, food was superb with big portions and we ended the evening with a night cap on the house which made our day. The hosts were communicative the whole time and let us check us late due to our flight not being till later in the afternoon, which was perfect time for us to relax by the pool. We would definitely recommend Pablo House as a perfect retreat in Johannesburg!

Gérome (10/5): A relaxed and classy guesthouse with great views - We really enjoyed our stay at Pablo house. The facilities and rooms were great with nice attention to detail and an artistic flair. The food was delicious and with a great bar selection, the staff were friendly and helpful and the views overlooking the green hills are beautiful and in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommended. The food was a little slow to arrive, but was delicious and worth the wait.

Diane (10/5): Amazing stylish hotel, wonderful staff - The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming, beautifully designed with very stylish and chic surroundings. The views are wonderful, totally unexpected from a city hotel. It's quiet and safe. Explore the whole place, it's built on a hillside with a pool at the bottom and rooms on many levels. Comfy big beds, great art and the food is lovely too. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to be there when artworks from a local gallery were being displayed, great idea.
Boris (10/5): One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, having travelled on all 5 continents, so go for it! - I had such a great time staying at Pablo house. To start with the place itself, the rooms are very large, spacious and very clean. The surrounding area is one of the safest in Johannesburg, with 24-hour security, so I felt very safe. And the view on all Johannesburg is breathtaking, so get your camera ready, you'll get a great view, especially of the sunsets! The hotel has everything I needed: swimming pool, restaurant which is absolutely excellent for very affordable prices, I couldn't believe it. Last but not least, I was charmed by the service and dedication that Leigh and Louis (the hosts) gave me. After getting to know each other, they gave me tips and advices for my trip and are so kind and friendly that I now want to come back and see them. Not having stayed longer! On a more serious note, I have no negative points to mention.

Laid back ambiance both favoured by tourists, and locals alike. Specious, comfortable rooms. Staff goes out of their way to assist you. Tasty, healthy and savoury cuisine.
Bruce (8/5): Very good with room for improvement - The decoration of the lobby and the rooms is very nice. The food at the restaurant is very good too. The staff is very friendly and willing to please. The insulation of the facility is very bad so it was freezing everywhere even with the heaters on. The service at the restaurant is very slow with an average waiting time of one hour to get your food.

Scott (10/5): Incredible boutique arty hotel, superb location, lovely staff and just the best hosts - This is an amazing property in a fantastic location. Our room was brilliant but all rooms look great if honest. The communal areas are beautifully decorated and finished off with the most amazing artwork from local artists, reflecting Leigh and Lou’s own artistic personalities. The views over Jo’burg are second to none - literally it feels like the highest point with best views of sunset and sunrise. Food in the restaurant is lovely, bar is well stocked, and staff are all the best. Leigh and Lou round this off with being the most amazing hosts - warm and friendly, super helpful and as locals know everywhere to go an when. Everyone should visit this amazing city and I can’t recommend Pablo House enough Nothing.

Stephanie (10/5): Would definitely stay again when in Johannesburg - Nice boutique hotel with large, comfortable rooms which were well decorated, Netflix and even had a small courtyard. Breakfast was amazing, it seems to be a popular restaurant for locals. Staff were great and friendly. Free refillable filtered water available. Nice quiet location, beautiful view. Johannesburg seems very spread out where many tourist places require an Uber or some form of transport to get to. Getting around is pretty cheap by Uber so would recommend the location for the view alone. There's a supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk down the road (depending how good you are with hills). Shuttle is more expensive than an Uber however it was a nice vehicle with airconditioning, water and even snacks where many Ubers are old cars without airconditioning so I was comfortable to pay the small premium. Noticed Wi-Fi dropped off once or twice for a short period in my room which was a bit further away from the main building however it didn't affect me much because I had mobile data so can't really tell if it was a big issue..

Everything is absolutely outstanding; the owners, staff, decor, rooms, views, beds, food, music, vibe… Lee, Louie, and their staff have created the most welcoming and stylish vibe. We wished they could clone everything about PH so we could take the experience with us to every port. If we lived locally we’d dine here regularly. The food and atmosphere are remarkable. Audrey (10/5): Perfect small boutique hotel, with food and drinks to die for! - Pablo House is perfectly located on a hilltop, with stunning views across Johannesburg. Our group of 4 stayed in the villa for 5 nights, and were blown away by the comfort and space. Breakfast and dinners in the restaurant were outstanding. The wine list is superb, and well priced. Cocktails were also much enjoyed. All staff are so friendly, and reflect the values and attention to detail of the owners. This was our second stay in Pablo House, and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Joburg.

Stephanie (10/5): Beautiful guesthouse - Beautiful guesthouse, large rooms that are nicely decorated. Netflix included. The bed had a heated blanket which was nice. Breakfast was nice and delicious. Was only there overnight before another flight so can't really comment on the area. It seems like the restaurant is popular where outside guests also come to eat. Booking says breakfast "included" however it's only to the value of 150. Breakfast options are between around 70-150 so for the most part it should cover the meal. however if you get extras or drinks you may go over. Breakfast was great so it wasn't really as an issue but more off an FYI. Shuttle a bit on the expensive side 650 one way or 1150 return.

The food at the restaurant was delicious and the vibe in the communal areas was friendly and inviting. Special shout out for the comfy bed, good blow dryer & nice shampoos/soaps etc. Thank you for a great stay & intro to Johannesburg :) If you are a light sleeper, I recommend earplugs. Not a huge issue for me but a good tip imo as the sound does carry especially in the main building.

Susan (10/5): Amazing boutique hotel, in the heart of JHB. Amazing views and vibes! - I can't recommend Pablo House highly enough. Amazing views of JHB, in a beautiful setting. Amazing decor and very well appointed rooms. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious with a great atmosphere - making it a great base for friends to come and visit me, rather than me having to travel around JHB to catch up! You can also organise spa treatments in your room, which are very reasonably priced. Finally, lovely pool area in a nice little quiet sun spot. Everyone made me feel so welcome, especially the owners who took the time to get to know me and made my stay extra special. Thank you so much to all at Pablo House - it's definitely my home from home now in JHB. Nothing - place is perfect!
