Unique stay
Maureen & John wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble Nothing . all good
- Elaine (9/5): Quirky cottage and very warm and cosy. - A beautiful character cottage. Very comfortable and everything you need. Host was very helpful and great location to some beautiful winners. Nothing not to like
- Maree (8/5): We only had an over night stay. I can imagine the apartment would be great over a number of days as it had everything yo - A beautiful historic property. The apartment had everything we required. The host was very welcoming and helpful. N/A
- Sheila (10/5): - Everything Nothing

- Catherine (10/5): Cosy cottage - Beautiful, historic accommodation in a tranquil setting. Friendly and helpful owners. Cottage was cosy with wood fire and spacious bathroom. Everything needed for a comfortable stay.
- Darryl (8/5): - The quirky nature of the accommodation named Gypsy Rose. It was a bit cramped for space but it was comfortable. It was great that we could help ourselves to apples and grapes growing in the grounds of the homestead. A bit tight for space once 2 suitcases and 2 adults in the cabin.
- Jack (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer! - We got to pat the farm animals and pick fruit from the trees!

Our hosts Maureen and John couldn’t do enough while we were there. Nothing

It was quirky but comfortable and fun. The little side balcony was lovely for breakfast and our evening glass of wine.

- Jymmy (10/5): -
- Graham R G Jones (9/5): A super two night adventure meeting such a genial hostess. - The location of this place was fantastic - just what we wanted. Our host Maureen (and John) were superb especially in answering quickly whether it was safe to come or not as bushfires were close - it was - and in providing such a friendly welcome to our Gypsy Rose Caravan with subsequent information about the property itself and places to go to see and eat. We were self catering so breakfast was all of are own doing. Just felt a little crammed but all in all it was great.
- CHRIS (7/5): -
- Judith (10/5): Relaxing and quiet stay - Close to the river, lovely walking paths. Comfy beds with great amenities Nothing

Well appointed rooms and kitchen, and very comfortable bed that I slept in! Maureen was an excellent host with great tips for meals. Friendly goats to pat and chat to which addded to the charm.

- Helen (9/5): Quaint historic homestead full of charm and warmth - Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Unique property - it is like stepping back in time
Loved the indoor fire place What’s not to like
- Megan (10/5): Perfect little get away - The cottage we stayed in was just perfect, it was cozy and just the cutest! The fire and a cup of tea on a cold night was best way to end the night. This place was amazing.
- Natalie (10/5): -

- Monique (9/5): The most gorgeous little cottage with all the comforts! - Absolutely gorgeous quaint cottage a few minutes out of Swansea. Loved the genuine feel of the workers cottage with all the comforts accounted for! So beautifully well done! The port and marshmallows were the best little touch! The only negative was that the hairdryer was not working properly.
- Patrick (10/5): - Fantastic Host 6 out of 5 stars
Even flooded rivers could not dampen our stay!
- Chloe (10/5): A must stay! - We stayed in the Bentmore cottage which had so much charm and character. The room was extremely cosy and the view of the fireplace from bed was such a treat. The host was so lovely and provided us with ample amount of firewood for our stay, and even had the fireplace going for our arrival. It’s in the perfect location to explore Swansea, and the nearby wineries! Such a special place, 11/10. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Emily (10/5): Unique, comfortable and cosy stay on a lush property. - John and Maureen were beyond helpful and accomodating - they suggested some amazing food spots for us as we were heading there from up north. The location was off a highway - but you can’t hear the cars passing by, it was spacious for a bus - super clean and cosy and we slept so well!
- Russell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely place Even with the heater you had kindly switched on before we arrived, it couldn't warm the living area. Thank you for the cosy throws, they really helped.
We only had a heater for one bedroom at a time.
The plug in the bedroom didn't work thus charging our devices was delayed.
- Kaye (8/5): Very good -
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- Pornpunnapat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Williscroft (10/5): Exceptional - Marvels place to stay . Nice and quite . Would recommend staying there. staff was lovely There was nothing not to like
- Meg (8/5): Very quick jam packed - Loads of interesting historical facts and information from the host. Was able to explore the homestead-beautiful gardens and trees very convenient for a comprehensive trip in Swansea
- Lavida (10/5): We had a nice walk around the homestead, spotting twenty or so species of birds. - The location was marvelous with lots of fruit in the orchard, as well as plenty of beautiful birds down along the creek. Maureen was a super gracious and helpful host. The house was well stocked with the neccessities. Maureen, chief cook and bottle washer was also a perfect tour guide, walking us around the property and a number of interesting stories on the history of the homestead. Can't think of anything that I didn't like.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb - We loved being surrounded by the beautiful garden. There are amongst others apple and pear trees, from which we were allowed to take fruit for breakfast. The terrace allows for a lovely silent breakfast scene with a view. There was also a lovely pod espresso machine. Our host was very accommodating and sweet, we felt very at home. There is a fireplace to heat the room. Also the shower was lovely. It is to be noted that there is no wifi, as described, but also the reception wasn't great with our mobile data.
There are, considering you are surrounded by beautiful gardens and nature, many insects as well. There were very few that made it into the lodge, but it is a little difficult to close the bathroom window due to the fly screen.
- Valerie (9/5): Country cuteness.. - The Kitchen is very small. The steps throughout
The house a bit challenging.
The owners were lovely.
The open fire was gr8.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Historic cottage - Quiet peaceful getaway. John and Maureen were wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Terence (10/5): - Quaint and lovely.
- Eileen (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in Bentmore Cottage for two nights which we loved. Very peaceful very comfortable bed and great shower. Thanks for suggesting Friendly Beach. It was gorgeous. Also loved your apples ! Thanks Maureen and John. Eileen & Eugene
- Eve (9/5): Superb -
- Humphrey (8/5): relaxing - lots of birds
- Garry (8/5): A Sense of History. - Good location for day trips and close to Swansea. Lots or room to walk around and a stay with a sense of history.
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Adrian (8/5): Very good - The Gypsy caravan was charming. The small deck was great. Lovely peaceful and private location. Maureen was an excellent/thoughtful host. A bit tight for space (understandably). The mattress may be starting to sag.
- Sanya&mark (10/5): Exceptional - We were there for two nights, stayed in Belmont wing, which is a two bedroom house adjacent to the main house.
Our accommodation was very well maintained, clean and offered all that anyone would need for a stay of any length of time.
The ground surrounding the accommodation was immaculate and very well looked after.
Maureen and John were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay homely and welcoming by engaging with us and sharing their story and history with the property.
They are very generous and hard working people and it was a real pleasure spending time with them.
We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone that wants to spend time in the beautiful surroundings of eastern Tasmania, within close proximity of Swansea and Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park, and have a welcoming and cozy place to return to after a long day exploring the area.
Thank you Maureen and John for everything you have done for us!
- Lynn (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely garden setting with a natural swimming spot. Maureen was lovely too and even cooked us some sausage rolls. Nothing.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Tuan (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (5/5): Passable - Place was local for what we wanted to do Size of room , no where to put bags. Having to go out side of main room to go into bathroom
- Nachshonm (7/5): Good - Owners were great and very caring and helpful, as well as the garden with a lot of fruits, a nice view with a small river just a few meters from the house. There was no wifi in the apartment.
Two small stairs in strategic places, which makes us cautious all the time.
Many ants were coming to our food a minute from leaving it on the table. Anything that is out of the refrigerator has to be thrown away.
- Wayne (9/5): Fresh air and fantastic hosts - Fantastic hosts and just a nice place to 'put the feet up' and relax. Quite a calm and pleasant feel about the Homestead, helped by two happy goats, a beautiful garden and a nearby stream.
- England (9/5): Superb - Great host Nothing
- Ramesh (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jillian (9/5): A beautiful location, fantastic hosts, delightful accommodation, limited cooking facilities - I stayed in the Gypsy caravan which was a delightful experience, The homestead owners are very hospitable and take great care of their property and surrounding land. The location was good for exploring the middle of Tasmania and being away from the larger resorts. The gypsy caravan does not have cooking facilities beyond a microwave and the location of the homestead is not close to other places to eat so if you like to prepare home cooked food it was a bit limited or if you eat out then the driver will be limited on having a drink. There is a separate building with cooking facilities but when I stayed there was a problem with birds and a possum having access so it wasn't in a state of cleanliness that I was comfortable using
- Preetha (9/5): Excellent place, very welcoming, fully functional kitchen, lovely surroundings with river running, my kids absolutely lo - Beautiful property within a farm, very well equipped kitchen and amenities. Lovely people running it.
Very clean and comfortable. Would have been nice to have a line to dry the clothes or laundry option.
- Christian (9/5): Superb - Warm welcome from landlords. Cosy cottage at the country side. Just some minutes away from town. Short trip to Freycinet National Park and ferry to Maria Island.
- Joerg (10/5): A perfect place to stay, enjoy and relax - GYPSY ROSE is a perfect place, we fell in love with it! Just wonderful to sit on the cozy little balcony and enjoy the nature around! Interior is decorated with love and passion! The hosts Maureen and John are beautiful people, helpful and extremely friendly.
- Nana99 (6/5): Old old old place to stay Charater - Old place with history. BBQ on balcony was excellent to have. Owners were very nice. Kitchenette was very small. Place itself was very dark.
- Lu (10/5): - The friendly hostess welcomed us and showed us around the property, which was nice place to stay.
- Liam (9/5): Beautiful country stay and a great base to see Freycinet. - Beautiful country stay about 10kms outside of Swansea. Feeding the goats was a highlight of our entire trip for my daughter. Lovely grounds to stroll around and relax. Hosts were lovely. Small thing but it would have been great if there were some glass tumblers.
- Yianni (10/5): Beautiful cottage and great value. - Great property and a beautiful cottage to stay in. Nothing
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Eduardo (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (8/5): Schluded how do you spell quaint and comfy. - Character…loved the old charm Lack of WiFi
