Guest Reviews
- Meng (10/5): Unforgettable experience - The view of the apartment is breathtaking.
Lovely decoration, extremely spacious with high ceilings. Piano is one of the highlight of the apartment. Some of the facilities inside the apartment need updating, such as a loose stair step, a dishwasher missing its start button, a broken pedal on the trash bin, and curtains that can only be pulled down halfway. The interior doors also cannot be locked. In addition, the in-room minibar is chargeable, and even coffee and tea must be purchased separately. These small details can lower the overall experience of the stay.
- Elsie-May (8/5): Incredible location, massive hosting space. - Fab location, huge space! Much bigger than we anticipated. The property needs a lot of care. Carpets were filthy. Many broken things in bathrooms etc. leaving showers, broken plugs and taps etc.
- Janne (8/5): Big apartment - Two floor penthouse apartment, it was huge. Loved the terraces, with lot of space and fabulous view.
Well equipped. Clean.
Small shop and bakery nearby.
15 min walk to old town.
- Joao (6/5): - The view and it was spacious Jacuzzi bath kept going onto error mode.
Hot water ran out all the time.
Blinds (three) in living room didn’t work.
Lights in top floor bathroom not working.
Toilet flush button kept coming off.
Couldn’t get decoder box to work.
Outside lights didn’t work.

- Ramon (10/5): Muy bien - Elisabete encantadora, el apartamento genial Le falta algo de mantenimiento
- Denis (10/5): -
- Monika (10/5): Great appartment , very specious, great location - Space, location , mini bar Staircase, wobble step no hand rail
- Guillaume (7/5): Mooi uitzicht en goede locatie - Uitzicht Veel defecte en verouderde spullen en meubels met name de tuinmeubels en de trap was levensgevaarlijk las van de tree gebroken.
- Peter (8/5): - Krasny vyhlad a perfektne komunikácia Zatuchnuté a spinave koberce a nevyčístene trisky vo vírivke. Z umývadla citit odpad
- Ram (9/5): Superb -
- Kathy (10/5): Wonderful and huge apartment with fantastic views - Apartment was huge, beautiful views of the ocean. Each bedroom was perfect - all with deck access as well. Beds were very comfortable and we loved the robes. Location was great going downtown about 12-15 minutes - walking back was a little bit of a workout uphill. Building needs outside numbering for 33 - and buzzer for 6 B apartment should be labeled. Staircase upstairs was scary needing some repairs to the second step - also there is no railing. Snacks and drinks in the apartment were for a fee - although I really think you should offer coffee of some sort for free.
- Brian (10/5): The person that greated us ( Elizabeth?) was wonderful. - Unbeatable views! The place was huge. We were met at the property on time and all questions answered.
Nice walk down the hill to downtown - you might want to use Bolt or Uber for the return trip ( under 4 Euros most of the time) Wifi is strong upstairs but nearly non existent downstairs - the good news is that it was a pleasure to use it upstairs with that great view. Just mentioning it because some may not want to use the stairs to get online.
There is a market nearby but it is uphill to get there - about three blocks.
- Nguyen (6/5): Breathtaking view but service needed to be more responsible - Spacious and breathtaking view. The lady who welcomed us was very kind and helpful. Broken dishwasher.
Service needed to be more responsible: the host booked a transfer to the airport for us, but didnt give us the contact details of the driver, just told us to call the host's number if anything happened. On the departure day, no car showed up, called the host's number but no one picked up the phone. Messaged them and they kept silent. Almost missed the flight. After that, they just ignored the transfer incident, like nothing happened.
- Sina (10/5): Spacious Apartment with Stunning Views! - The unit is incredibly spacious! The highlight of the apartment is definitely the balcony—it has two large balconies with a magnificent view! The unit was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. I think this unit would be perfect for a group of four or more. The staff was very responsive, and we had a wonderful time.
- Rafal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): Fab stay in huge apartment, 15 mins from town centre on foot, perfect base to explore Funchal and the whole island. - Huge apartment on 2 floors, incredible views, very comfortable. Elizabeth the housekeeper greeted us on arrival and couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. Not much to not like! Some more water glasses would be great. Lots of snacks and drinks at hotel prices available in the kitchen, a small welcome basket of a few free basics would be the icing on the cake
- Elmer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bosman (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Superb - Amazing views. Better facilities than the website implied. 15 mins downhill walk to the centre of town.
- Jonathan (8/5): Feels like being in a Bond movie - Jaw dropping views from the two balconies - one on each floor. Great place to explore Funchal from. 20 minute walk down to the old town. If you don’t fancy the hike back 8 euros for a taxi.
- Caitlin (9/5): Extensive balconies to enjoy breathtaking views over Funchal. - The facilities and views from the property are fabulous. The staff, particularly Nuno, were very helpful and knowledgeable - met us promptly at the apartment and gave a thorough orientation of the apartment and Madeira. Although there were some minor maintenance issues, this accommodation was excellent value for money and the staff were very responsive. We particularly enjoyed eating breakfast and having a nightcap on the balcony. It was very hard to leave!
- Fríða (8/5): Amazing view but needs updates - The two balconies and the view was unbeatable. Would book again just for the view! Elisabete from Arts In was great and very willing to accommodate us.
Plenty of space, obviously, and everything we needed. The apartment is past it’s prime and could use some upgrades.
Appliances (e.g. AC, TVs and kitchen appliances) are old, and you notice some minor things here and there that could be better. There’s no AC in two of the three bedrooms, and the Acs are old and noisy. The carpet runner along the downstairs part of the apartment has many stains. The two full bathrooms are not up to par with what you would expect in a penthouse apartment (there is also a small WC downstairs, and a bathroom upstairs but that one was locked due to some maintenance so I can’t comment on that one).
The entertainment area upstairs is huge, and if you are planning on having loads of people over it’s excellent. If the place was mine I’d change the layout and add a master bedroom upstairs (there would still be plenty of space left). Seems a waste of space to cram all three bedrooms in the same small hallway and have at least two thirds of the space for entertainment areas, at least when renting to tourists.
The apartment is not the only apartment on these two floors, as there is another apartment. We never noticed anybody there during our 4 night stay.
Finally: For the price paid it seemed very strange to only offer one bottle of water. The fridge is stocked with beverages, and there are some food items in the kitchen, as well as crisps, chocolate etc, but they are charged according to a price list (and not cheap!). You even have to pay for coffee capsules, something you are offered for free in most hotels and accommodations of this standard.
- Fulvia (8/5): Location, space and views. Could be spectacular with just a couple of touches - The views are really stunning.
The location was always 7 minutes from everything 😀
Friendly contact and reception.
Go to Zona Velha. Carpets and windows were dirty. I am not obsessed with cleanliness, but the windows are a key feature of the apartment. They are really dirty, and they ruin the views. Kitchen a bit tired.
Check when big cruise ships dock at the port and plan your trip accordingly as they carry 6000 people and the town is small.
- Danny (10/5): Excellent -
- Shabana (10/5): worth it ! wanted to stay more - beautiful property amazing facility well kept view is stunning everything 😊
- Jayne (10/5): Amazing views and comfort from this rooftop penthouse apartment - We got stuck in Madeira for an extra 4 days due to high winds and had to book this property quickly due to lack of availability. The property management could not have been more accommodating and we were checked in speedily and efficiently fairly late in the day. The location and views are just to die for! We rarely left the place as it was just so mind blowing! The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could wish for to cook with. The views from all the balconies were stunning and for a city centre location, it was fairly quiet. The apartment had a lovely cooling breeze running through it when the shutters were closed and windows open. I will probably never have the opportunity to stay at a place like this again but loved very minute and would not hesitate to recommend it to to others. The kitchen was a bit tired and some of the cabinets could do with fixing or replacing. Also the AC was very old and not efficient but this is reflected in the price of the property.
- Ally (10/5): Beautiful apartment with an even better view - The VIEWS, the space & number of bathrooms. That we only stayed 3 nights!
- Vannio (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, easy to walk everywhere. Amenities were very good, including clean towels and robes, plenty of pots and pans for cooking, and even dishwasher and laundry tabs. Bedrooms were comfortable and quiet. Elizabeth was very welcoming and helpful the entire time we were there. A couple of the dining chairs broke or began to fall apart as we sat on them (we are not big people!) so I think some of the furniture could do with a refresh. The air-con wasn't really powerful enough for the space, so we had to open a lot of windows which brought in a few mosquitos.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - The property was spotless, luxurious, and had all the essentials plus fresh robes! We were met with the keys at what time worked for us, shown where to park, and around the place. We were also given easy check out instructions. We couldn’t have loved it more. The location was great and walkable to a lot in Funchal. We wish we could’ve stayed longer and will definitely be back! Nothing!!!
- Darryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adetola (10/5): Superb. - Great apartment, very spacious and home from home feel. I would definitely stay at this property again however, there are some pieces of furniture that need updating and servicing to make sure they work smoothly - particularly for older people (e.g patio doors sticking so need oil)
- Rafal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful apartment and views 10 min walk to town but Elisabeth who checked us in was the star of the show. She was extremely kind, helpful and was available to answer questions for us all during our stay. Thank you so much Elisabeth
