- Sarah (9/5): A lovely base for a few days exploring the lakes, couldn’t beat the location and staff we very friendly. - Location, friendly staff, comfy bed. The room was on the small side and decor a bit tired.
- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely character filled inn with great views and great food - Lovely lakeside location. Great food. Staff didn’t initially explain all the deals available on the App for food and drink
- Andrew (9/5): Very enjoyable especially the room, great view - Everything was really great including the breakfast.

- Helen (9/5): -
- Simon (10/5): A wonderfully relaxing stay, nestled angst the stunning natural beauty of the Lake District - Wonderful, scenic location right on Lake Windermere edge and just a 15-20 minute walk from Ambleside centre. Super friendly and helpful staff made the whole experience pleasurable. There wasn’t anything to dislike.

- David (1/5): Will never stay in this hotel again - Location on the Windermere Lake was great Difficult to locate reception behind the bar. When looked for staff to assist, there were none available. The room had a musty smell. The rooms, which I thought were in the main building overlooking the lake, were actually situated on the main arterial road through to Ambleside and so you hear the traffic all the time. The couch bed was made up in the middle of the room even though I confirmed only two adults. Couldn’t fold it up as it had a duvet on the bed. A beaming light in the main room does not go off and so disturbs your sleep. Very high price for this room so no value for this price paid.
- Maureen Hislop (8/5): - Clean comfortable spacious room.
Very friendly staff, work hard with large numbers of customers, beautiful setting for breakfast overlooking the lake. Typical pub food but felt had to go elsewhere as most choices were fried. Could do with a simple chicken or non Fried fish option.
- Mauricio Leonardo (8/5): - Location is great. Breakfast is nice. Too expensive for the room
- David (7/5): Overall, a good stay. Well located in a beautiful area - Magnificent area to visit and this hotel was well located near bus and ferry services. Even though I contacted the hotel by telephone and email, I was misled about accessibility to rooms - too many narrow flights of steps. Manager said ‘our bad’ but reminded me of their no refund policy when I looked to go elsewhere. They ended up giving us a room across the road with no view but without a discount for the type of room I paid for. Seems that hotels are quick to take your money but being honest and caring of clients is secondary. As a consequence, we ate all our meals elsewhere only utilizing the included breakfast.
- Kev (9/5): - Excellent location, staff were brilliant, friendly, and helpful.
Food was very good and breakfast was delicious 😋
- Neil (8/5): -
- Parker (10/5): Brilliant - Everythinh Nothing
- Jean (10/5): Great hotel, great location, great food. - Absolutely loved our stay at Wateredge Inn. Perfect location, great buffet breakfast included. Dog friendly, but they also have a beautiful sectioned off area for dog free dining. Friendly helpful staff. Good size rooms, quiet and comfortable.
Highly recommend. We booked a twin room, which consisted of a large bed and a sofa bed which I didn't find comfortable, so I would be sure to book a room with actual beds next time. Would be fine for families with children though.
- Rachel (8/5): -
- Lorna (7/5): Lovely views - - The position and the room was lovely. I asked for a hairdryer as the one in the room was broken - it appeared as if by magic! Check in was offhand and complicated.
The breakfast was abysmal.
- Helen (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent customer service every member of staff were so friendly and polite, great views and excellent location, very clean. There was nothing
- Trisha (7/5): -
- Max (7/5): -
- Roger (10/5): Great stop for 1 night heading to Oban. - Modern , clean, views
- Denise (8/5): - Location on Lake Windemere. Nothing
- SIMON (8/5): - Great location and rooms nice and clean. Nice bar area and outdoor beer garden if weather permits. The staff were very good too. Booked a meal for our evening dinner. The food was very poor unfortunately, I know its 'only' pub food but this was below par. Would stay again but eat out in Ambleside instead.
- Doug (9/5): - Location On the last day of our stay (13th April) the lady on the breakfast bar was rather sharp with an older gentleman in front of us
- Annemieke (8/5): Prachtig gelegen, lekker eten. - Mooi gelegen, direct aan het water, met een groot terras. Leuke bar/restaurant, lekker eten. Gehorig. Lang wachten in rij bij bar/restaurant.
- Damian (10/5): - Location perfect
- Scott (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing and memorable - Excellent location, amazing views of the lake from room and restaurant - truly exceptional Nothing
- Graham (10/5): Great place in an great location - Great location in ambleside overlooking windermere , amazing breakfast, lovely staff. Route to bedroom was very tight for space.
- Ruth (6/5): Great room and location, poor service and poor breakfast - The room was great, lovely view, very clean. Location was great, right on the lake, walking distance into Ambleside. The hotel seemed understaffed. Especially at breakfast time. The breakfast food offering was average at best, bacon was tough, bread was very basic and cheap, several dishes on the menu not available, eggs benedict, eggs florentine, eggs royale. It seemed like chaos to be honest.
- Mclaren (8/5): Our stay was good. We enjoyed the time away. The staff were great through the week - Good location. Staff were excellent and friendly. There could have been a better choice of lunch and dinner (we are fussy eaters and there weren't many choices for us) and the fire alarm did go off twice during our stay which gave us a bit of a fright. One we were told was a test and it would have been good to have been pre warned this would be happening.
- Yuhang (1/5): -
- Kim (10/5): Beautiful and fun and relaxing - Great location Nothing
- Dawn (10/5): Perfect stay just what we needed 😊 - Location was perfect, our room was very spacious and we even had patio doors leading out into a patio with table and chairs, excellent perfect little sun trap . Unfortunately I’m gluten free and there was only one thing on the main menu I could actually eat as a main meal so very little choice but breakfast made up for it , it was excellent.
- Dianne (9/5): - Was an awesome location. The lady at reception wasn't very helpful, asked about what there is to do,, said to Google it!
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Sonja (10/5): - Friendly & very helpful staff. Food great & rooms comfortable and sized good.
- Kopycka (10/5): - Everything was perfect and what we needed. The room was spacious and very cozy. Loved the stay there!
- Dean (10/5): -
- katie (9/5): Great stay in a beautiful location - Great location, staff very friendly and the rooms are lovely. Food was also exceptional both evening meal and breakfast I think for the price, having 2 single beds pushed together to make a king size was a slight let down. Unfortunately wasn't as comfortable as it could have been. The beds themselves were extremely comfortably but the gap between was a nuisance.
- Hannah (8/5): Nice stay ! - Good location
Comfy room It was fine !
- Alan (8/5): Value for money, lovely outside adjacent to lake - Good
- Michael (5/5): Next to the lake - Been here before many times but has changed since the renovation. Not as cosy a small pub anymore. It's always
good to be near the lake. The room was small (swing a cat type) and the walls were thin. It gets very busy at breakfast time due to the two sections of the hotel. Not as cosy in years past.
- Nikhil (9/5): -
- Karin (8/5): Lovely birthday break - Fantastic location. Far enough out of Ambleside to be a bit quieter but close enough to walk in. Right on the lake, great spot to watch the sun go down in the beer garden. It’s an older property that has been renovated, looks great but it’s still a bit creaky, you can hear quite a lot from your room.
- Paul (9/5): - We stayed over after our wedding and had the best time. Weather was perfect for mid march. Plenty of parking and a 20min walk to town for more pubs and stuff. Food was nice and service by the wonderful staff was great. Weird system the tourists que up for drinks with. Single file snaking to the door instead of gathering at the bar. Strange them southerners.
- ELAINE (9/5): - Views food and drink
- Alan (10/5): An excellent stay weather was wonderful and the hotel was very welcoming - Breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and good quality Nothing
- Louise (10/5): Relaxing stay in a beautiful location with lovely staff - Beautiful location. Very clean hotel. Great breakfast and lovely staff. Parking was easy. Nothing
- MICHAEL (10/5): -
- Sharon (1/5): Way overpriced hotel - I liked the size of bed Staff very rude especially the lady who ran the breakfast service
Restaurant closed both time we went to use it
Mould in the bathroom
Definitely not worth the price tag
- Charles (10/5): Value for money - Staff were excellent Good breakfast and plenty of it
- William (10/5): Happy 59 anniversary - Food v good 👍 staff great location 👍 will be going there again later in the year 😀 The weather, but we were determined not to let that get us down
- Elaine (8/5): Enjoyed it and we will b back soon. - Visit this hotel every year. We love it. Service at breakfast fetching hot food out was very slow
- Peter (9/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Enjoyable, relaxing two night stay - The location was fantastic, the staff were hard working and friendly and helpful The bathroom was small and another larger than average size would struggle sitting on the toilet.
- June (7/5): Apart from above we had a nice stay for my husband’s birthday - Excellent location lovely staff Only problem was , couldn’t get water from taps or shower and bath for a while
- Pat (9/5): -
- Mandy (10/5): - Great location, great Lake view, clean and friendly atmosphere Everything great
- Kyle (9/5): Loved the location - WE really enjoyed our stay. Great sleeps and excellent location for discovering the Lake District. Staff were excellent and kept their cool as the inn filled with day travellers. Spending 330 GBP for two nights was quite expensive for an Inn. The food on the menu was very tightly scripted to a pub experience rather than a hotel at 165 GBP per night.
- lesley (7/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): -
- Donna (10/5): -
- Glyn Roulstone (7/5): Nice establishment , pleasent staff but let down by exessive noise pollution. - The breakfast was excellent and the location was second to non.The staff we interacted with were very good and made us feel welcome. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are well appointed. The stay would have been perfect , however our sleep was badly disturbed for two of our three nights due to really loud music from the room above. This went on for hours with loud rave music , loud voices and lots of banging doors too. This was not what we expected from a 4 star establishment .Im sure we were not the only guests to suffer from poor quality rest while staying here.
- paul (3/5): Concerned that I would stand on broken glass again. - Good location, car park, lovely views, nice atmosphere, lovely breakfast. We stayed in room 9 . I think 1 of the 2 glasses next to sink had been broken, by previous guest. We found 7 pieces of glass, which i stood on , On bathroom floor. Told barmen that night, nobody came to room to hover, brush or wash floor. Told receptionist as we checked out on Sunday morning, who also apologised. We have stayed 2 twice before.
- Gemma (7/5): -

- Nigel (10/5): -
- Colin (8/5): -
- Jacob (9/5): Excellent Stay - Over all stay is super. Location is in perfect spot. Good view and good place to sit and relax. Room also very good , only thing i have found bit difficulty is the size of showroom in bathroom. It was small.
Staff is very friendly and they have good restaurant with view. I recommend others for this place.
- John (1/5): -
- Jaroslaw (9/5): -
- helen (8/5): Nice weekend, would visit again but not on a weekend. - Lovely weekend Menu could have had more choices, mushroom stroganoff was bland & chewy mushroom as if been frozen not freshly made, steak pie was beautiful but veg was just a pile of cabbage yet the previous day we say steak pie served with broccoli etc & looked much more appealing, breakfast very busy & if you enter via the back door people making toast make it awkward to get through ( that could be down to manners of this weekends guests) breakfast was good
If just wanting a coffee , again difficult if there’s a que for hot breakfast food
- Costin-Daniel (10/5): -
- Zoe (8/5): -
- Kerry (9/5): Lovely stay! - Lovely hotel, shame we were across the road but we did have the dog.. lovely location, very happy 😊
- Julie (9/5): The perfect base to explore the Lakes - Everything was perfect for our first stay in the Lake District. A fridge in the room would have made it a 10
- Jennifer (8/5): Very comfortable with excellent staff and wonderful scenery. - Very good breakfast with lots of variety. The orange juice and coffee.
- Joyce (8/5): Overalll, a very pleasant stay and we were extremely lucky with the weather. - The location is great, there is access to public transport. The staff were pleasant and the food, particularly breakfast, was good. Also plenty of parking. I asked for a room with twin beds but I had to sleep on a sofa bed which was not entirely satisfactory. Also there was a sensor over my bed which had a very bright blue light which we managed to cover otherwise I wouldn't have been able to sleep.
- jonathan (5/5): Average - Location We left 2 expensive electric toothbrushes in our room. Despite contacting the hotel 3 times and being promised responses we didn’t receive replies.
- sharon (10/5): Fantastic stay. Will definitely return. Thank you - Breakfast was fantastic. Excellent location. Hotel and grounds were well maintained. Gorgeous views. Staff were so friendly. Would definitely return. Thank you
- Michael (9/5): Excellent break, pleasant staff and fantastic location - Breakfast is was fantastic Took a while to check in but otherwise brilliant staff.
- Amy (8/5): Great location and great room - Great location and the room was amazing and well equipped. The breakfast was great. A little mini fridge would be nice.
- Sarah-Jane (9/5): Exactly what you need from an English Lake District hotel. Perfect setting, lovely ambience. - Lovely room. Fab location. Great breakfast. Good restaurant. Staff pleasant and friendly. From room 3 you can hear the background music in restaurant area below early in the morning. Not a big problem tho.
- Sylvia (8/5): Enjoyed & the staff were very nice The double bed was changed to 2 single beds when asked twi - Breakfast was good & catered for gluten free
Did enjoy my stay Evening meal- ordering at the bar, chaotic, initially no Gf menu then Anton brought out one & there was plenty of choice!!
After the meals the girls ordered another alcoholic cocktail but stated not tasting the same or colour- it was a shame as first time been away since one of the girls diagnosed with bowel cancer & 2 with breast cancer
- Stan (6/5): Adequate - Resonable Food Luke warm at breakfast
