Guest Reviews
- lucinda (10/5): excellent atmosphere - comfortable place to relax one of us had a bad back and the bed was a bit hard
- Cameron (10/5): -
- Angela (9/5): - Close to town everything that we required during our stay Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): A cosy, peaceful retreat that was perfect for relaxing and recharging. - The cottage was incredibly cosy and relaxing. The veranda was peaceful, and sitting in the rocking chair watching the sunset was a highlight. The gas log fire made the space feel warm and inviting, the bed was very comfortable, and the spa was perfect for unwinding. Nothing at all – everything was lovely.
- nikki (10/5): Very much enjoyable and relaxing - Very comfortable and quiet Nothing
- Nicole (5/5): Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. - The cottage looks beautiful, full of character.
Was comfortable once you got inside. The entry was slippery, steep and the steps had a handrail but was covered in overgrown bushes. The steps were all odd sizes. Especially the steps near the front door.
- Joanne (8/5): -
- Naanki (9/5): - Location fantastic. Quiet but still close to town. Would have been great if there were some breakfast provided even just bread, toaster and spreads.
- Shayne (10/5): - Spa was great, alot of character in the cottage, very cosy stay, super clean. Bed was a little bit firm for me personally, still slept fine
- Mitchell (9/5): Nice and cozy - Walking distance to shops Spa didn’t work
- Kylie (7/5): -
- Adrian (10/5): An ideal property for a quiet stay with your dog - The outside space was excellent for our young dog - fully enclosed yard. Nothing :)
- Hamish (10/5): Beautiful place and private - Cosy, cute and warm!
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - We could not have been happier with cottage 4A. Everything about the house, from the heating to the location, was perfect
- Gaylene (10/5): Gayser - Everything. I just loved the cosy, comfy atmosphere created. Nothing.
- Cheryl (10/5): Beautiful - House was very cosy and clean. Location was fabulous and the whole experience was just lovely and peaceful! The couch was a little small for us!
- Wanjia (9/5): Superb - The property is surrounded by trees, bush, vines, and flowers. We enjoyed the tranquility and the greeneries surrounding it. It's also walking distance to the town, shops, and the lake. While the property had many blankets on site, they all felt old and worn, and frankly I didn't know if they were washed between guests. Also I wish the property manager would send out check-out instructions before we left the property
- Michelle (9/5): Beautiful cottage near the lake - Charming cottage with lots of nice places to sit and chat. Bathroom and kitchen were well stocked with the basics.
- Beau (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenny (7/5): Enjoyed the area. - Very well appointed cottage with lovely art deco touches. Great ammenities.
However we found the cottage to be very dark and gloomy with all the trees and foliage around.
Suggest pruning back somewhat to open it up more to light.
- Sophya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Relaxing in a beautiful cottage. - The cottage was tranquil and beautiful. We loved the little touches around the house and garden to make it so.
- Rose (10/5): So beautiful and everything you need! - This property was our favourite of our journey - lots of homey decor, lush gardens and everything had been thought of to make sure everything you need is at hand. A quiet hidden-away location yet just off the main street. Our anxious dog was very comfortable here too!
- Michael (9/5): Fantastic getaway for the weekend - We cooked our own breaky.
Excellent facilities, beautiful cottage. Bed was a little bit hard.
Signage for property could be improved a little.
- Tania (9/5): Superb - Location was private and cottage had all the amenities needed for the short stay The bed was little hard and the bathroom basin was a little too high
- Lisa (9/5): Perfect for pets - Clean, comfy and perfect for pets
- Mary (10/5): A beautiful cottage to stay and relax in. - This cottage is A++ - perfect in every way. Delightfully decorated and well appointed throughout.
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and well maintained.
The little touches including the lights on when we arrived and the music was a great touch. This is not a question that is applicable to this cottage
- Brett (8/5): Relaxing and blissful - Great location
Great feel in the house and nicely decorated The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked
- Luigi (8/5): Wish it had washing machine - Close and quiet No washing machine
- Maria (8/5): Relaxed in an environment that felt like home - - Been there before, is central and private TV reception was not good.
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (9/5): Great location, walking distance to town, host communication was great - Great location and lovely place to stay, loved having my coffee in a different outdoor spot each time
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (9/5): Lovely property, beautiful garden, quiet and well located - Design & layout, cleanliness inside, had everything we needed Bed a little hard but we managed to sleep well
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely and peaceful with a beautiful veranda. Great location. Great size and had all we needed. My husband found the bed a bit hard but it was fine for me. The sofa wasn’t the comfiest.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A quiet, private sanctuary of calm and natural beauty. Great place to stay in cooler months. - When we arrived the lights were on and the gas fireplace already lit. It made the cottage feel warm and welcoming. The weather was quite chilly when we visited - but having the fireplace there made a huge difference to how we felt. What a great place to stay in winter!
The kitchen was well stocked - good selection of plates and glasses, serving dishes, cookware. Plenty of everything and all immaculately clean. Lots of windows bringing in light and making things look bright and airy - but completely private, and very quiet.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable - a firm mattress (one of the best I've every slept on - but I like a very firm mattress), cozy doona and plenty of pillows (I noticed a previous reviewer said the pillows needed to be replaced... looks like the owners did that).
Lots of comfortable places to sit outside, both in front of the cottage and out the back. It was too chilly to do that when we visited, but in the warmer months it would be such a delight to relax outside. The well-tended garden surrounding the cottage is gorgeous - with little sculptures and whatnots that made it truly charming. While having breakfast we sat and watched a honey eater sipping nectar from a flowering shrub just outside the window. The photos on Booking.com website show 2 recliner-style chairs in the living area. That's not what was there when we visited - instead there was a couch and a side chair. The side chair was great, but the couch (seating a bit low and without arms) was not really comfortable to sit on.
- Eddy (7/5): Happy enough - Quiet Location Electric Kettle did not work
- John (9/5): Comfortable, private cottage in a great location. - Had a very comfortable stay. The location was excellent, it was very private and we had all that we needed.
It’s only a short walk to town or the lake, with a pretty decent fruit market at the end of the street. The bed was firm, but not uncomfortable .The house had plenty of heating and so was warm and cosy. Just a couple of small things. The kitchen knives need to be sharpened. I would loved to have played the record player, but as it didn’t have an Australian plug, nor an adaptor, I assumed it was for decoration purposes only.
- Casey (10/5): Gorgeous cottage - Such a beautiful cottage in the heart of Daylesford! It was warm inside thanks to a lovely fire. The house was spotless on arrival. The bath was spacious and perfect to relax in after a long day. Had a homely feel to it :) Nothing.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect Location, quiet, fully & well equip with everything you needed for your stay.
Clean & tidy, quirky and loved the garden novelties dotted around & the porches where very inviting.
Over all couldn't fault it, will recommend to friends for sure Daylesford has change so much, I spent my childhood there and have been returning on a yearly basis.
Maybe it is due to COVID, but I was very disappointed this time round there where only a few of my favorite places still there, it has become very yuppy and for the rich, yes it is now marketing the mid & weekenders to explore and spend in once was a beautiful unspoiled country town.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay - It was really cosy, and the space was perfect for what was expected with a really good location The reception for the television was very spotty and sometimes didn’t work
- Lawrence (9/5): We loved it and are keen to come back! - I liked the bed but it was too firm for my wife.
- David (9/5): a very enjoyable few days at Cottage 4A - TV reception was patchy during our stay.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, cosy with lots of added touches There wasnt anything to dislike
- Vinod (8/5): Very good -
- Dominique (10/5): lovely 😊 - location, everything provided in the property, spa bath The bed. Way too hard and so uncomfortable. Had to see the osteo after that trip.
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Nice quiet location -
- Lynda (8/5): Lovely little cottage for a couple, in a great location for exploring Daylesford - Great little cottage in a perfect location for exploring Daylesford and the many restaurants in the region. Nice quiet spot, with good, clean facilities inside. Really pretty little garden. The bed is like concrete. We’re used to firm but that mattress is just painful to sleep on.
Outdoor furniture, blankets and decks were putrid. Such a shame because they look so inviting, but I had to clean everything down before we could sit anywhere.
No extras like you normally get in this area - tiny little UHT milk in the fridge for a 4day stay. Enough for 1 cup of coffee each. You need to take all your own supplies, even bread and butter. I know that shouldn’t be an expectation but it’s common practice with many other weekend cottages in the region.
- Robyn (8/5): lovely cottage in good location - good location - walkable to town centre. sweet cottage with good inclusions and roomy and pretty garden Hard bed
- Chris (9/5): The cottage was perfect. Spotless and clean. Lovely garden. Aircon was on. Nice touches everywhere. - Location was very good. Short walk to the lake although a bit steep on the return for us. Others might not have this issue though. But everything was in short distance by car. A lot of eating options. A lot of sightseeing. An extra night or two would have been good. The bed was too firm. We take an overlay anyway but this was not enough this time. I had to use the doonahs for extra comfort under it. A softer bed should be considered. Otherwise it would be a 10.
- Bernadette (10/5): Loved our stay, well appointed with such attention to detail - Had everything we needed and more. Beautifully
decorated, clean, such a lovely first impression with the air con on for us and soft music playing on arrival - just lovely ! little bit of trouble with the tv reception but it didn’t affect our stay at all just FYI.
- Marina (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Location was great cottage had everything we needed Pillows, may need new ones
- Lorelei (9/5): We will be back! - Terrific location - easy walk to the lake and main street, great store around the corner, lovely outlook from the cottage. Warm and cosy with lots of thoughtful touches such as the fire being on when we arrived, snacks and cut flowers. Instructions to find the property could be clearer.
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Huong (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adelle (8/5): Beautiful Cottage - quiet and most comfortable - We had a wedding to attend to at the Lakehouse and booked into Cottage@4A as it is within walking distance of the Lakehouse. The cottage is very well presented, completely standalone and its own separate gardens and is nicely decorated. Very comfortable. You can also easily walk into town for cafe’s or pubs - and we also did a nice 25km walk on the Tipperary track starting from the lake and coming back through Hepburn. The ability to walk to and from the Lakehouse for the wedding was perfect for us. The owners have put a lot of effort into making the cottage very attractive with everything you need with one minor exception i don’t think there was any WiFi but we were not doing any work that weekend as there’s too much to do and see in the area.
- Sheila (10/5): Delightful cottage in quiet, leafy surrounds. - After an initial hiccup actually getting into the cottage,(sorted mainly through the help of a lovely, lovely neighbour) we spent an idyllic couple of days in our beautifully maintained, decorated and supplied cottage.
With a front and back deck to sit out on or super comfortable chairs inside, interesting books and magazines to read and inspire, television and mobile phones were forgotten.
We delighted in the abundant birdlife from the kookaburras in the tree opposite to the currawongs, parrots, magpies and even the honeyeaters in the front garden.
We were also in very easy walking distance to the lake, the Lakehouse Restaurant and the shops, cafes and restaurants of the main street.
A truly delightful cottage in a peaceful setting in a lovely town.
- Dianne (10/5): Weekend break - Great little cottage for a weekend stay. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Large bathroom with spa bath and pleasant toiletries. Clean and in a quiet area. Coffee machine and pods supplied plus chocolate - nice touch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great one bedroom cottage. Had a great peaceful weekend away
- Joyce (10/5): Secluded, private beautiful getaway - What a lovely place. Secluded enough, private, but close to the heart of Daylesford. A very special place to get away to. Highly recommend - inside was beautiful, outside stunning. Every detail was thought through to provide a beautiful weekend away. Thank you!
