Guest Reviews
- Sergi Solano (10/5): - Lovable cottages in a remote lookinh although accessible area. In my case, some linen eas missing. I guess we all make mistakes. Nothing serious.
- Hernan (10/5): - Really nice cottages. The cottage was well stocked, with kettle, microwave and things for making a quick meal. Bedding was nice and warm, and it's walking distance to the pool :)
- Arkadiusz (10/5): - Good comfortable beds.
- Andrew (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay here. The cabin was clean and quiet and had lots of amenities (it was like a mini house) We would gladly start here again.
- Tamara (10/5): - Everything was perfect ! :)
- Thomas (10/5): - A lovely little cottage in a great area. Very walkable, breathtaking views, and very tranquil. It was well equipped and very clean. We would certainly stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Govind (10/5): - The stay at the cottages was extremely comfortable, with a stream running by and moutains you can relax at this place. They had good wifi connection and when reached out for help, the person on-line was helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
- Christoph (4/5): - check in und erreichbarkeit war grauenhaft…
- Someone_ (10/5): - Es war ein super schönes cottage! Wir haben uns direkt wohlgefühlt. Die Küche hatte alles, was man benötigt.
Environnement calme.
- Hyesoon (6/5): - The kitchen was too small to do anything.
- Tom (8/5): - The cottage was easy to find, clean and exactly what the pictures look like. It was nice to have a microwave to cook food because resturants everywhere are very expensive.
The shower
- Julia (10/5): - Cute little Cottages. Small but there’s everything you need. Would love to come back
Chalets mignons
- Michael (4/5): - Cozy cabins in a great area…but. Be warned that there is mold in the bathrooms and BED BUGS. Spent the whole next day after our stay washing and sanitizing all our clothes and luggage. Hosts did not seem concerned and advised it was a non issue. Seeing the Aurora Borealis was the only consolation.
- Dillan (6/5): - Cottage had a very strong smell when we arrived. Some mold was in the bathroom. We could not find the TV remote when we arrived. I texted the number for help they provided but never received a response.
- David (10/5): Cute cottage up on a hill - Fabulous cottage with everything we needed but had to call the owners to ask for the information to be emailed to us so we could get in when we arrived.
- James (10/5): - Great cozy little cabin for our family. Had all we needed and was in great shape.
- Jeyanthan (10/5): Wonderful cottage in a beautiful place - Really beautiful place and checkin instructions were clear.
- Wanda (10/5): - Very nice and clean. Receptionist is very kind.
- David (8/5): - If you want to add to your adventure and are willing to not just be in hotels, don't over-look this option. After a long drive and poor conditions we arrived later to the cabin. The communication to get in spot on, the conditions were really good and it had everything a person needed.
The evening had crazy high winds and I thought the cabin may blow over with the campers outside but it was warm and comfy. Wi fi and TV worked great, kitchen set up was good enough if you're staying more than one night. It's not for everone but it was great and a conversation piece for afterwards. Great experience.
- Suzhen (10/5): - cottage is great, around is beUTIFY TOO
- Lori (10/5): - Cozy cottages with lovely views. No o e nearby except a campground so very quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good cottage, but a bit small - Cottage is in very good condition, but just a bit small, particularly for the bathroom. The size of cottage is also a bit tight if you have 3 people when you have large luggges.
- Megan (10/5): Enjoyed our cabin stay - Cozy cabin with everything necessary to cook dinner. Nice living room area, kitchen, and comfortable bed. Close to canyon waterfall, rock formations, and seal beach.
- Ryan (10/5): - Very cute stay. The room was nice and private with everything we needed. The curtains did not really do much to prevent the midnight sun from coming directly into the sleeping area but we made do by hanging some extra coats, towels and sheets to block the direct sun.
- Rosalind (6/5): Overnight stay - Cottage was as shown on booking site. Compact with suitable amenities. Very warm overnight and could not turn heating down. Booked as part of a circle drive. Did book incorrect date and discovered this soon after. Email to cottages to request a change went unanswered. I respect that no cancellation but to change to a next day date should not have been a problem. This meant I had to reorganise my trip. Wifi good. A little out of town.
- Danielle (8/5): - Everything was great! The only thing was is the WiFi didn’t work while we were there. Other then that, it was everything we needed.
- Der (10/5): - I love these cottages! One of our best stays when we visited Iceland! Very cute and clean and comfortable. Communication was clear and check in was a breeze. Definitely recommend to others!!
- Victoria (10/5): - This cottage was so cute. I wished the northern lights would have shown up because it was a perfect place to view them. The beds were supper comfortable. I got my best sleep there.
- Jianping (8/5): - The smell from the sewer was too strong. Shower area was tight. Other than those, all was good. Everything including a full kitchen and a hairdryer was provided.
- Marina (2/5): Terrible stay in cottage with bed bugs - There was a huge problem with our stay that was BED BUGS!
All three beds were full of bed bugs that did not allow all of us to sleep. We all got many bites all over our bodies.
The host did not respond to our complaint.
I have one more point to note: the Barbecue grill is specified in property amenities, but there were no any Barbecue grill.
- Geoffrey (2/5): - *** Worst place we stayed during our 10-day trip in Iceland ***
The cottage smelled very strongly of fish as soon as we walked in. I like to eat fish, but this was overwhelming and, frankly, disgusting. We couldn't find the source of the smell, so we couldn't try to clean it up ourselves. The smell was so bad that some of my clothes that were in my suitcase still smelled of fish 10 days later EVEN AFTER WE LEFT ICELAND!
I texted the contact for the property, and they just told us too bad because there was no other cottage available to which they could move us. I understand if they don't have an available cottage, they don't have an available cottage.
However, they didn't even offer us a discount on the cost of our stay.
The fact that someone went into the cottage and changed the sheets (I assume) and cleaned it (presumably) and didn't bother to clean up a smell that bad and didn't even open windows to air the place out makes me wonder how thoroughly the entire cottage was actually cleaned.
Stay anywhere else if you have the choice!
- sudhir (6/5): - The check in did not go well. We did not recieve the email with the code to get in.
We had to call expedia who reached out to the property manager and gave us lock box code.
The cottages are very neat and well equipped.
- Gord (10/5): - Nice cottage
- Masahiro (10/5): - Small but clean and very comfortable
- Lee Cheng (10/5): - The cottage is great and the room is very cozy, clean and well prepared. The staff is very nice and well explained to us. We spend a great time at here. Will come back here to stay again. The view of the cottage is stunning.
- Sik Cheung (8/5): - Nice property with beautiful views. Clean property. However water pressure of shower is quite weak.
- Leticia (10/5): - Out of the places we've stayed this felt the most comfortable, cozy and homey.
- Maricelle (10/5): - Very clean and cute!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent property - This property is very cute and what a cottage should be. We are very pleased with this accommodation. We will visit again when we visit this area.
- nancy (8/5): - Excellent property. Great views and you can walk to town. Excellent restaurant in town- Sjavarborg. Perfect for 3 people. The only negative is no shampoo/ soap in shower because container was empty. Otherwise highly recommend.
- Marielle Helena (8/5): - Nice, cozy modern cabins. We did turn only the upper bed light on for ambiance, the only other big light in the room is very bright for an evening in.
Communication was clear in advance and it is a very nice little town. Don't forget to have a look at the wool factory!
- Phoenix (10/5): - Beautiful cottage with quiet and dark surrounding. Perfect to catch some Northern light. Little drive into town for food or if you have ingredients can cook a meal.
- Steven (8/5): Pleasant cabin. - Nice cabin in a fairly secluded location. It was clean, well-kept and nicely equipped. Four sharing was acceptable, but a little tight on space although the beds were very comfortable.
- Corinne (10/5): - The cottage was very clean, comfortable, and the communication from the host was excellent.
- Pierre (8/5): - It was decent but quite cramped; the most unpleasant part was the bathroom, really tiny with no clear distinction between the shower area and the rest hence every shower floods the whole bathroom, and using the restroom caused gurgling noises under the shower that made us worry about one backing up into the other - although in the end, no such thing happened.
- Kristjana (10/5): - Fantastic stay. Horses, ocean. Amazing place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - room was quite small, maybe a little too small for 4 people. place wasn't very clean as well, but we found most things that we needed and was okay for 1 night.
- Dan (8/5): - The cabin was nice, clean, and fully stocked. Instructions were clear on how to gain access. The only issue we had was the shower drain apparently was clogged and within 60 seconds of a shower the entire bathroom floor was flooded and very smelly. But we did call and within a few minutes someone showed up to clear the drain. So the communication was wonderful and quick. It’s enough out in the open and away from light pollution, so we were able to see the Aurora very clearly. Besides the shower drain issue, everything else was great!
- Kaley (10/5): - Great property with a great restaurant nearby.
- Iain (10/5): Spot on - 3 adults. Perfectly lovely for a night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean cabin, quiet area. Google maps was off a bit. You need to drive further up the hill to get to the cabins.
- Paul (8/5): - Cozy, but it was tough for my husband and I to share the full bed. The windows were great but the curtains weren’t too good at keeping the light out. Overall it was a quaint stay in a pretty area.
- Russell (10/5): Good for up to theee people in quiet area - Nice little cottage on a big hill above the town.
Clean and comfortable. Nice beds and bedding. Kitchen area with all amenities.
Very quiet and nice. Three of us enjoyed it for one night. Nice restaurant nearby on the waterfront with good food.
- Laimonas N. (8/5): Great location and experience - Great experience but no communication with the owner, only a preset message.
- Choon Feng (10/5): Great location to see northern lights - We love the cottage style concept. Our unit on its own. Everything self contained within the hut. It was warm and toasty even outside was minus 6 degree. Fuss free check in. Location short distance away from town ona hill. Best place to see the northern lights with minimum light pollution from the cottages only. We took pictures of heavy northern lights over our heads.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was a lot of problems with this stay.
1. No heater, the owner did came to fix it that same night
2. No hot water, but owner did fix it that same night
3. Horrible wifi, it doesn't work most of the time.
4. Have a really hard time locking and opening the door. My sister couldn't get out and we couldn't get in and it was cold out.
5. The door was stuck.
- CamTay (6/5): - This property was beautiful , really clean, everything worked. The sleeping arrangements were a little tight, and the bathroom is where it didn’t work out too well. The shower was a disaster. It barely shot cold water out. The cottage was extremely spacious, extremely clean, but the shower lost it for us as this was a key reason we wanted to book this cottage.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Quiet and good place to catch aurora at night. Easy to check in and out.
However, cottage has strong food odour, the plates, pans, stoves etc were not properly cleaned (had food residue and stain). Shower curtain has strong sour smelly odour. Floor is clean but overall, cleanliness is an issue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and neat place to stay. Managed to catch the northern lights here
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is stunning. We saw an amazing display of the northern lights whilst there. The cottage is small but more than enough space for 2 adults . The double bed is very small with a single bunk bed above. There’s also a bed settee. We enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well placed cabin, 10 to 15 minute walk to supermarket and restaurant. Very cosy
- Pamela (8/5): Requires extra work to get in!! - The cottage was fine for a night in the area, but although there was nothing wrong with it, it felt the least personal of anyplace we stayed over our 12-day stay. Additionally, because we booked through Hotels.com, apparently we needed to contact the owner (via international phone call!) for our key-code to get in!! We didn't realize this and arrived with no data or internet, and definitely no international cell service, to figure out how to get a hold of the owner and get in to our cottage. We used the WiFi from the cottages to confirm that nothing had been sent to us and then went into town and luckily someone was kind enough to call for us! We had similar experiences through AirBnB in which the host was able to contact us and leave us all this information ahead of time. I would say until hotels.com figures out how to allow email contact with the host, book your stay here through another site.
- Andi (10/5): - We stayed as a couple for one night. It was unique and super toasty at night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We adored our little cottage. It was perfectly laid out for our needs and had a complete small kitchen. The bed was a bit small, though. The cottage was easy to find and we checked in with no issues. We will definitely stay here again if we're back in Iceland. Hvammstangi is a slightly larger town as well, so you can find everything there. Tip: Visit KIDKA wool for wool-based souvenirs. They had a great selection, at decent prices.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay here. Easy to check in. Very clean and comfortable.
- Vanessa (4/5): - What a disappointment! So nasty and dirty! My goodness it was dirty! We were absolutely grossed out! Mold on the bathroom door, dishes with food still on them, hot plate burned and dirty, table really old and nasty, the chairs were pealed and so disgusting! It was the worst place we stayed in Iceland. So far has been 13 nights and man, this place made us be so disappointed and grossed out. We left at 5:30am and barely slept. So nasty!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great place - Cute little cabins by a church. Would stay again. Was clean and had everything we needed!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The only day we see aurora out of 12 days in Island, but the kitchen ware needs to be updated, we could not even boil the water for our noodles.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cottage is cute and very cozy.
I love their restaurant, the lamb fillet was the best I had during my trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good place - very good place to see northern light
- John (10/5): Cute cabins in a scenic setting - Went to Hvammstangi to watch seals and booked a night at the cottages. Really enjoyed them, small bit big enough for a three or even four if somebody sleeps on the couch.
- Vincent (8/5): - Nice and clean apartment. The only set back was not we did not received an email instructions for check in. Fortunately, there was a contact number and we managed to speck to the staff and gotten a key code access to the house key. Otherwise, the apartment is comfortable.
- Eva (10/5): - Cozy cabin with full amenities located in Hvammstangi, awesome for viewing stars and northern lights at night.
- Allison (10/5): Cozy Cabin in the North - Magical place to stop and stay on our travels around Ring Road. A remote cabin in a picturesque northern village. Very clean and cozy. Highly recommend the experience!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect country side - Is a perfect location for northern star. Is close enough from the city. But you don't get light pullotion
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom design and drainage is poor. Otherwise ok
- Frederic (10/5): Compact, but with all the comfort. - Very cute cottages, in a very calm and quiet area. Compact, but with all the comfort.
- Cindy (8/5): Cozy cabin - We stayed in cottage 8. It had all the basic amenities we needed for our one-night stay. We were able to make our meals in the small kitchenette. Everything was very clean and well-kept, although the refrigerator did smell very strong of garlic sausage (or something like that). The wifi worked well, and the check-in/check-out process was super easy. Overall, we were happy with our stay here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute little cottege
- Debbie (8/5): - Cabins were very clean and peaceful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay
- Natalya (10/5): - Very pleasant place, not as roomy as you can expect looking at pictures and being from US but it have everything - twin bunk bed and queen size sofa, small kitchenette. We had good sleep and freshly cooked breakfast.
- Judith (8/5): - Nice cabin. Comfortable beds.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The key to the cottage was accessed by a code sent by email a couple of days before arrival to a key lock just beside the door of the cottage. The cottage had all the amenities required however I thought the towels and sheets could be newer. The cottage could do with a little updating but would book again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Trip around Iceland - This was a great location to spend the night after driving through the westfyords. Great coffee shop in town.
- Delmer (10/5): - Nice comfy stay and excellent views
- shannon (10/5): cute - Very cute, scenic location, comfortable and clean.
- Savannah (8/5): Small cabin on the hill - The small cabin was a tight fit for four people, but can be done. Unfortunately the shower and running water smelt like sulfur so we never felt clean, but there was plenty of hot water and it was probably fed by a natural hot springs which is nice. There was a good few of the bay and black out curtains that helped with the limited amount of darkness. Our kitchen was missing spatulas and that made it difficult to cook on the two burner camping stove.
- Sydney (8/5): Quaint Cottage with a Great View! - Despite a slightly confusing check in process, our stay was amazing. You are in your own secluded cottage, with everything you need for a good nights stay. It's located on the top of a hill in a quaint town. We were there on a stat holiday so most places were closed, but we managed to find a cute diner in town that was open. The cottage itself has a small kitchenette with outdated appliances, so cooking was a bit difficult, but that was the only downside. The bed was comfortable, washroom sufficient, and view incredible. We even saw a beautiful sunset right from our window.
- Rebecca (10/5): Clean and comfortable - The cottages were small but comfortable. Not a lot to do in town so we headed to the local pool; great call! Overall positive experience here and would stay again.
