• Anne (9/5): Great place to stay in İzmir - The staff were really friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was great (even for vegans), the location was perfect, and the place had a sociable vibe while also being quiet enough at night. As far as I remember the wifi was good too, and my room was comfortable. There aren't always smoke-free communal spaces (when the balcony door is open the living room is quite smoky - it was only an issue on some mornings though), and the kitchen is a bit small (but cooking is possible and easy to do).

• adele (5/5): Needs a little more upkeep - Great location by train and central street. Did not experience breakfast so can't comment on that. The mattress was old, you could feel the springs. While the mattress and pillow had a cover it did not appear that they were clean, as it had hair all over them. No sheet was offered but a towel was. Was it value for money? Compared to another place, for a similar price, no it was not. Perhaps for others they will see the value.

Wifi is fabulous. 9pm and staff came into room, turned on the lights and started talking extremely loudly showing someone the room to potentially stay in which I found to be very rude and unprofessional considering everyone has different schedules, he left the room with the door open and the light on. I got up to shut the door and turn the light off and 20 minutes later he came back in and put the light back on and left the door open again. No reception, just a laptop in the living room. Very dirty, mouldy bathroom where I felt like I’d be more dirty using the shower than not. The kitchen was absolutely disgusting so did not use. Sheets did not stay on the bed overnight so was half sleeping on a bare mattress. Loud music can be heard in the morning from the living room. Guests weren’t friendly. Room was very hot and noisy.

Checkin und Einweisung waren einfach und klar, ich hatte ein Bett im 5 Bett Zimmer. Das Haus wird nur barfuss betreten. Das Hostel ist im Barviertel gelegen, perfekt zum Ausgehen, die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten hier dementsprechend teuer. WiFi funktioniert, es gibt heisses Wasser in der Dusche. Das Bett war sauber, es gibt keine Lichter an den Betten. Die Dachterasse ist etwas heruntergekommen. Es wird täglich gereinigt. Die Küche ist nur zu bestimmten Zeiten nutzbar, ich habe dort nur Tee gekocht. Das Frühstück war lecker und reichhaltig, sorgfältig zubereitet. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Gepäckaufbewahrung möglich. Mir hat es hier sehr gut gefallen und ich würde es weiterempfehlen.

• Phillip (7/5): I enjoyed my stay in a hippie wonderland, but it's not for everybody, especially spoiled Americans. - It's the hippy-est place I've stayed in a long time. The owner is a good guy with a Master's degree from U of Arizona. He's created a place that made me think I was on the legendary Hippie Trail. Many restaurants and pubs are just around the corner, as are more tattoo studios than I could count.
• Yordan (9/5): Superb - The hostel is located in the city centre of Izmir. Supermarkets nearby. The property has a cozy common area with a stable wifi connection. There is equipped kitchen which everyone can use. The hostel is well-maintained. Beds are comfortable. All the staff is friendly. Highly recommend it! As a small drawback can mention the music that has been played loudly in the afternoon.

• Wyedun (5/5): Passable - Central location was easy to get around, very helpful staff. While we were told on arrival about the music in the area, it was worse than expected. A bar nearby was so loud, we could feel the bass in our upstairs room. The music played into the early hours of the morning and we could not sleep until it stopped, messing to 2 terrible nights sleep. Maybe in the week this would be a better experience but the music is just too loud on weekends.
• Szali83 (5/5): Critics - The close place to the train station. When we entered the hostel the staff greeted us. He told us to take off the shoes as the hostel is so clean that we are not allowed to walk inside in shoes. But he was wrong. The carpet on the stairs were ripped and dirty. The walls of the room were dusgusting. The ceiling looked like it was wet some time ago and the result could be seen. The shower was also under critics. There was loud noise from neighbourhood from 10 ro 3 in the morning. The kitchen was small and stinky. Hopefully we did not have to use it. It is not allowed to bring inside meat. Any kind of meat. It's a vegan hostel as the staff called it .

• Mike (5/5): Passable - Good breakfast, but they should make up their mind if it's included or not, this volunteer "contribution" just makes people insecure and uneasy, Good water pressure in showers, I find the rating way to generous, let's face it, the place is a functioning dump, it works for a night or two, but rating should be in the sevens, A bit of smile and a less authoritarian style from the owner wouldn't hurt either, but, I'm an older bloke who remembers the more relaxed atmosphere in the seventies and eighties, so perhaps I'm being unfair.

• Jordi (7/5): Central, lame Wi-fi, good breakfast - The breakfast made by Fati is just awesome and enormous, you can skip the lunch after that!! The staff is really kickback and relax, first backpackers hostel in Izmir. You can't do more central than that. Tram is right by and anything is within a minute away walking. Free tea and hibiscus. From the pictures to the reality....wouahhhh The price, the Wi-fi is so lame, from the 90's. Everybody gather in the narrow living room to get the internet, like a 90's feeling Noise from the street and loud music from the bar next door

• Kadi (4/5): - Staff was quite unpolite; seemed bored and annoyed. I was in Turkey 2 weeks, and started from Nevsehir / Cappadokia, and surely this Shantihome in Izmir was the worst of all my accommodations in Göreme, Konya, Isparta, Pamukkale and Selcuk. The breakfast was offered yet 9.30. The chef was really good and amazing, but the meals were at the end / finished about 10 o'clock. The shared kitchen was dirty...
• Thaitraveler2023 (6/5): Good for the money. Get what you pay for, but I have had better for less money as well. - Free breakfast was delicious. Close to many areas of interest, sea, trams, trains, etc... If you are over 6' or 190 cm or taller good luck w the bunks, better in one bed of the 3 person dorm. (Feet can poke through.) 2nd floor bathroom has a moldy / stinky smell to it, and my room was right across the hall. Old place, pallets, w cushions for sofa area in common space. Smokers, most of the locals, had very little regard for the smell of their smoke drifting into the common space from their outside balcony smoke areas. Even leaving filthy ash trays on the counter in kitchen. No lockers, but everyone had a key to the front door. Rooffrop only for laundry, so no room to sit and enjoy, a missed opportunity.
• Thomas (6/5): Good building and facilities but manager made things uncomfortable - The general facilities and rooms were nice (though WiFi didn't work in the bedrooms). Location was good and a rooftop terrace is always a great feature! While most of the staff were lovely, there was one older gentleman (possibly the manager or owner) who came across very creepy and would constantly snap at guests about house rules. I generally like having rules at a hostel and am ok to be reminded if I forget but this guy would raise his voice and get angry - doesn't make you very comfortable in a small hostel. For one example, the other staff who checked me in said they lock the house after midnight so remember my key then. I therefore in the middle of the day went out for 10 mins to get a coffee without my key - when I came back the manager was furious, snapping that guests must always carry their keys! He would lurk in the common areas watching guests - I heard some other guests say they were afraid of hanging out in the lounge because he might be there.
• Deniz (8/5): Som aspecta - The coordinator, Alegro, is a kind and helpful guy. He explains the rules clearly. The atmosphere is nice in general. The noise from the surrounding entertainment centers was extremely high during the night.
• Sadigh (3/5): Wouldn’t go back for sure - Location is in a very noisy area. If you are sensitive to noise you won’t get a good night of sleep.
