Maria is a goddess who floats through the hotel anticipating your every need with grace and efficiency and impeccable English. For those that want to relive their youth hostel experience but need the finer things will find this fits the bill!

Notre chambre etait spacieuse, propre, avec une bonne literie et une petite terrasse. Le plus est le rooftop avec vue sur la ville et la mer. Merci à toute l'équipe pour cet agréable séjour.

• Nicholas (10/5): Must stay, you will love it. - This is quite easily one of the best hotels I've ever been to, and one of the best experiences overall, period. The staff is incredible. When they found out we were leaving earlier than the free breakfast started in the morning, they wrapped us up a personal breakfast and delivered it to our room the night before. The furniture, setting, vibe and amenities were incredible, clean, cozy, and warm. It made want to stay longer. Then the recommendations for travel to Morocco and Spain were amazing, and they even toasted us for our honeymoon. A must stay experience.

• Tom (10/5): - This property was outstanding, Miriam greeted us with a room upgrade and she turned on the A/C 1/2 hour before our arrival so we would be quite comfortable. We are traveling through Spain and this was the most comfortable bed we have had, excellent! The rooftop was a great place to take coffee or wine. The rest of the staff were incredible as well, breakfast was so so so good! The old town was nearby to explore shopping and dining and very walkable but don’t attempt to drive in, the streets and corners are not easily maneuvered and there is no parking in old town. You must park outside a few blocks away. The property was an easy walk to the port to catch our ferry to Morocco and the staff at Kook were very happy to hold our luggage until we returned the next afternoon. An excellent experience at Kook! We were here for only one night but on our next trip we plan to stay in Tarife longer as both the old town and the newer town looked so charming and worth a longer visit!

• Robert (10/5): - Much, much more than a five star experience I feel bad giving Kook Hotel a five star review because I’ve given many others five stars, and Kook is SO much better. First the staff, Oriana at reception was so warm and welcoming, went above and beyond to make sure our Tarifa experience was exceptional. After more than a year of travel since we retired I can say that we’ve never felt such warmth and welcome anywhere. Paqui. We met Paqui preparing breakfast our first morning. She was so warm and friendly, telling us proudly about her city of Tarifa, “una ciudad de puertas abiertas” a city so safe you don’t need to lock your doors. Pepe. We asked Pepe, the manager, where we could find a laundry, he responded by asking us how much we had and then they washed our clothes for us at no charge. When we checked out after two nights, Oriana gave us a hug, it almost brought tears to our eyes, because unfortunately, this level of warmth and kindness is all too rare. And if that wasn’t enough, the food and drinks they provide are beyond the pale, I particularly loved their chia oat breakfast and avocado toast. And of course, they had the most comfortable bed and best shower we’ve had in Europe thus far. They have super cool common areas with a living green wall and an amazing rooftop terrace. Kook is a 10 star hotel with a 100 star staff. We were so sad to leave.

Parking was a bit tricky - the first option was full but we found parking at the second suggestion. Once parked everything is very walkable. The staff was warm and helpful.

The upstairs deck has a great view of the sea and you can see Africa in the distance.

The property is a surprise from the moment you step out of the alleyway and into the dimly lit lobby. Orianna is lovely and friendly, as well as being very professional. Rooms were very comfortable with good showers, efficient AC and good lighting. Breakfast was delicious too. We will return later this year, or next summer. I cannot find anything negative to comment on.

It was close to all the dining and bars, safe, and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Tea/coffee, fruit, filtered water and flavoured water available 24 hours. Great roof top area to view the old town and activities in the Gibralter Strait. Breakfast plentiful and varied with gorgeous ladies on hand to assist with keeping the breakfast area clean and stocked. Lift on the premises and cooling walled garden to sit by and have breakfast.

• Lada (8/5): - Stayed at the hotel back in August. This is a really great hotel in a great location. The hotel staff is very accommodating and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. They offer a breakfast inclusive, which is amazing if you want to hit the beach in the morning without wasting time getting to local cafes tea/fruits provided all day long. I loved the atmosphere and the ambience of the hotel. A few negatives. The hotel is in bohemian style and I get that the bathroom interior fits the idea, but it needs to be refreshed. Our bathroom walls seemed to be covered in some spots that looked like flies were smacked there. Toward the end of the trip a door frame (top part) fell onto me. The hotel mentioned they will fix it once we vacate the room. Luckily it did not land on my head. Location 10/10 Cleanliness 9/10 Staff 11/10

• Andrew (10/5): Great place to stay! - Excellent location in the old city, within easy walking distance of cafes, historic sites, the waterfront and the ferry to Tangier. The rooftop deck offers spectacular views, the breakfast was delicious and the staff is excellent (and helpful). My room was clean and comfortable and well-designed, as are the public spaces throughout. In spite of central location, it is quiet. I also liked that the building seems to be a refurbished structure that fits in well with the historic fabric of the city on the exterior but has a contemporary feel inside.

Extra amenities you don’t usually see, like fresh fruit throughout the day, lavish free breakfasts, and killer views from the roof terrace. The staff, Estefania in particular, is personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and conversant in English. You can’t go wrong if you stay at Kook Hotel and you may go wrong if you don’t.

Funky but functional, we highly recommend the kook, our room was comfortable, the lobby was welcoming, casual and we enjoyed playing backgammon with wine before going to bed. Silos restaurants was fabulous as recommended by Kook reception. Thanks for the fun Memories and perfect fit for our trip. Tarifa was more fun than expected!

It had a lovely seating area with games and books. The kitchen area had coffee and tea at all times, and the breakfast they had was terrific. I think this was a great place to stay.

The staff was extremely helpful and sweet, making sure we felt at home. The location is perfect! Make sure to ask where the best parking is if you are driving since it’s impossible to get to the hotel if not by foot! There is always fruit and drinks for the guests, and there is beautiful terrace to enjoy a sunset!

The staff were wonderful and organised secure parking close by at 10euros a day not only for our stay at the hotel but for the 3 days we were in Morocco. They also let us leave our luggage there whilst we were in Morocco and rang Seville and organised an extra nights stay at our hotel there when we decided to change our plans at the last minute. Convenient walk to the ferry to Tangier and the hotel itself is relatively easily accessible if driving. The roof top terrace is magic with an amazing view. Unlimited supply of tea, coffee, juice and fresh fruit is available in the downstairs lounge and courtyard. It was just all so convenient and easy.

The nicely equipped kitchen was stocked with all kinds of complimentary goodies, tea and coffee and a well stocked fridge with beverages available for purchase. Situated in the old town of Tarifa near the northwest wall, it is a new building constructed with meticulous attention to every detail. Walking in the front door, we felt the serenity of a spa, but then began to notice the edgy details that make it a fun and quirky place. Kristal has to be the quintessential host - calm, reassuring, competent - she wants all her guests to feel happy and well cared for, and she succeeded in spades with us! Our room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed, and contained both a small refrigerator and a safe box. Breakfast was delicious and included meats, eggs, opulent fresh fruits, yogurt, granolas. We loved this special place!
• Samantha (10/5): Really lovely hotel - My friends and I stayed here whilst on a road trip around Southern Spain. We chose Tarifa for an overnight stay because of it's location but didn't have high hopes because we had heard some unpleasant reviews of the town. However we need not have worried, the hotel was lovely, the location was perfect and the staff at the hotel were very friendly. I would definitely recommend the Kook Hotel for anyone visiting Tarifa.

Although the hotel is difficult to locate via gps the staff were incredibly patient with us in guiding us to their location. Very impressive.. you can tell that they really enjoy working there!

• Aaron (10/5): Perfect boutique hotel! Don't stay anywhere else! - This is the PERFECT boutique hotel! Don't stay anywhere else when visiting Tarifa! We made a last minute decision to stay in Tarifa while traveling in Andalucia and I'm SO happy we chose to stay at this hotel. It's a newer hotel so there aren't many reviews yet but do NOT let that stop you from staying here. When we walked in the door, I felt like I was walking into someone's incredibly warm and beautiful home rather than a hotel. The customer service was amazing (the woman at the front desk gave us tons of helpful restaurant reviews, made sure we had everything we needed during our stay, etc.) the main area was cozy and perfect for reading a book/enjoying a cup of coffee. Our room was SO beautiful and decorated with such thoughtful, creative decor. All the amenities are modern and wonderful. I just also appreciated all the beautiful details everywhere in the hotel (i.e. tons of plants along the stairwell, a beautiful courtyard area with plenty of space to relax.) And the overall location is right in the heart of town with restaurants within 2-3 min walking distance (and it's only a 5-10 min from the ferry port if you are traveling to Tangier.) So..stop looking at reviews in Tarifa and just stay here! It's perfect!
