Guest Reviews

- Mooney (7/5): Potentially a good stay, but the lack of staff made it a bit awkward - we were walking and we didn’t know where to leave - Great position. Staff in the bar friendly and welcoming and the initial welcome was good. However, breakfast was disappointing and wasn’t until 9am - the only member of staff available was also cleaning and helpful, but it was a bit of a non event.
I also sent a couple of messages to the property in advance, to help with travel arrangements, but got no response.
- Maj (8/5): - It was quite no noise from the bar. God help us, but this establishment is stuck in the 1980

- emilie (9/5): Très bien - Hôtel typique
Très bon restaurant

- Hugh (8/5): The were clean and comfortable, except for the pillows! It served its purpose for our stay in Wicklo - Basic No one at the hotel when we arrived. Fortunately we got hold of the domestic who was able to contact the owners.
- Gayle (10/5): Great Value! - Very quaint B & B. Very clean room & friendly welcoming staff! Dinner was abundant & very tasty in the hotel’s Pub just below. Good choices for breakfast along with table of fruits, juices, & breads Everything great!

- CHING HENG (10/5): - Great let me have enough power in Trail hiking
- JOHN (8/5): Great country pub - Very good hospitality. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
- Mary Rose (5/5): Not as described on the website. Overworked and unhappy staff. Wonderful location. - Breakfast was ok. Though the waitress was not cheerful probably due to the fact that she appeared to be the only one on duty. The description of the hotel did not match the descriptions on its website. Better service. More cheerful staff. Less noise of patrons from the pub. The bathroom sink was blocked and only a dribble of cold water from the bath.
- colin (10/5): Great value - Amazing breakfast and very helpful staff
- Nicole (10/5): Overall, I was extremely happy with my stay and would highly recommend Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely. It’s an ideal spot for - I had a fantastic stay at Murphy’s Hotel in Tinahely. The room was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable, making it easy to relax from the moment I arrived. I also enjoyed spending some time in the bar and restaurant that evening, where I had a few drinks and a lovely meal.
The hotel offers more amenities than you’d expect for an overnight stay, including a pool table, which was a great touch and added to the overall experience. The bathroom was immaculate, with a nice, spacious bath that really stood out.
The price matched the quality of the stay perfectly, offering great value for money. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, with a wide selection of delicious options to choose from.
Overall, I was extremely happy with my stay and would highly recommend Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing stopover or a short getaway, with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. I’ll definitely be returning in the future. No faulting my stay

- Ned (9/5): - Staff were excellent. Food was really nice including a really good breakfast.
Room was small but clean and adequate. Nice shower. €100 b&b is great value Only 3 pillows on the bed.
Low noise from the bar extended well past closing time
- Calum (8/5): A great little hotel in a lovely village in the Wicklow hills. - Lovely staff. Good breakfast. Clean room. Elevator allows for greater access. Local atmosphere was calm and welcoming. Food in the evening was very good. Hallway doors (2) close and shake wall by bed. Shaken awake one morning at 5:30 and then every time someone came and went. Only affects one room.

- John (1/5): Despite having already paid online for this accomadation ,we left so our stay was beyond dissappoint - Whom It May Concern,
My husband, my 31-year-old daughter, and I had travelled from our home on the Kerry/Limerick border, a journey of approximately 160 miles, to visit the Beyond The Trees visitor experience at Avondale. We had paid 235 euros to stay at Murphy's Tinahily for one night on Saturday 2nd August Bank Holiday 2025.We had chosen Murphy’s based on its reasonable proximity to Beyond The Trees visitor experience and also with the belief that it would offer comfortable hotel-standard accommodation.
On arrival, we were shocked and disappointed to find that the apartment was not located within the main hotel building, but instead in a separate, shabby structure nearby with a rough and uninviting exterior. The area was made even more unpleasant by the strong smell of cooking oil and fast food from a chip shop directly next door.
The two televisions in the accommodation did not work, and while clean the overall condition of the place fell far short of any reasonable expectation based on how the hotel had been represented online.
Due to the poor appearance and atmosphere, we chose not to eat at Murphy’s and were forced to drive all the way to Arklow to find a decent meal, even though we had arrived tired and hungry after a long journey. After visiting Beyond The Trees we were so disheartened by the accommodation that we returned, handed in our key, and—despite the risks of driving long distances on narrow country roads over a Bank Holiday weekend—decided to travel the entire way home rather than spend a night there.
This experience has left us feeling misled, distressed, and extremely disappointed. We feel strongly that:
The listing on Booking.com was misleading,
The standard of accommodation does not meet any reasonable tourist expectation,
regards Eileen, The poor shabby outward appearance

- Maria (6/5): - Easy parking Very normal
- Kristen (10/5): -
- John (6/5): - Authentic pub in central location The bar only appealing to old men. The lack of organization meant we lost a lot of time.
- John (8/5): - Nice, cosy room, nice staff, good breakfast. All good 👍 All was good.
- Olivia O Connell (8/5): - Very clean and good location for wedding in ballybeg. Room was incredibly warm, way too warm to be comfortable as we had forgotten to turn off the radiators in our room. The fry for breakfast was lovely but the eggs benedict was terrible.
- Aniko (6/5): I was expecting more - The nature is beautiful, the hotel is tiny, only with 10 rooms. My room was cosy and clean enough. The service was not kind, people didn't want to work. The breakfast was very slowly and not tasty.
- Oconnell (10/5): -
- Todd (10/5): - Check in was very efficient. The electronic cards to our rooms were already prepared and waiting for us. Although not new, the property was well maintained and everything worked well.
Lee was the receptionist, bartender and waitress and did an outstanding job. Our dinners in the restaurant on site were all very good. Breakfast was made to order and was also excellent.
- Dany (10/5): - Very welcoming staff and owners...even the local people friendly towards us too...beautiful room, just right for 2 people...also stunning landscape around you...we will be back for sure!! Good choices of breakfast and restaurant serves home made stuff, and their own beef...
- Gary (8/5): -
- THAO (10/5): - As walkers, we were really happy to stay in this hotel. The food and drinks were excellent. Huge Irish breakfast included. The personnel was professional and warm hearted.
The room was perfectly clean and comfortable with kettle and tea. A lovely place for holidays. Rien
- Joan (8/5): -

- joanne (10/5): - Lovely stay. Treated like family. Tuesday music was the highlight of the trip.
- Runyan (9/5): - Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Affordable dinner and wine. The Tuesday night traditional music was just a song circle. Was hoping for a trad session.
