Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - 連絡取れないです。。
- Liow (2/5): - The aircon is very bad and noisy and it is not well maintained
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nice staff, but this hotel is just too old and should not be in business anymore. It was like a scene from a scary movie. Furniture was very old and rooms were not very clean and there were ROACHES!!! It should not be listed as a 3 star hotel as it was worst than a motel 6. I'm very surprised and disappointed it was even listed on expedia.
- don (2/5): - This Hotel has seen better days..its like a 1950's Hotel, once was fancy, now is dull and dusty. Old furnature sits around, and in abandon rooms. My room had no locks on the door and they seemed angry when I refused it. Its like being in a angry, old chinese part of town. Un-secure internet, will Bit-coin miners attacking, Cleaning lady tried to come in the room, thinking i was not there. Bring a lock to put over the door knob. Street venders over charged everywhere. Ask the price before eating. No english speaking staff and street venders too. Will not go back.
- Tim (2/5): Don't bother - Quite how this hotel has any +ve ratings I do not know. Accidentally booked the wrong dates, but was unable to change them a month before, despite phoning and messaging, so had to book an extra night and swallow the cost; that could be considered my fault. Right, here we go: When we arrived there were a couple of bleeding great rats in the trash out the front. Reception area was full of kid’s toys and random furniture. Lift lobby had a pile of old TVs and multiple old fridges laying around. Room number hanging off door. Room full of old furniture, TV. Cling film over light switches. Garden gate lock to door. The whole room reminded me of The Shining. We left after using the WiFi to book another hotel. No manager available and the lady on reception seemed nonplussed to see us go. Will be contacting Hotels.com to suggest it is not a suitable establishment to stay. See photos. PS I’ve stayed in plenty of rough hotels, but never walked out before.
- PingPingandDrew (8/5): - We were just looking for a cheaper place to stay the night close to the train station. We arrived late from Roi Et and we're going to Hua Hin in the morning. So the views from our 11th room floor were a pleasant surprise. The room is what you can expect in Thailand budget wise, although more spacious than most. Clean room & bathroom, just a bit older is all. The staff is incredible which is also the norm in Thailand. Very friendly people. Check in and out is simple and fast. Would recommend due to cleanliness and the views. You may want to ask for a room on a higher floor facing west towards central Bangkok to ensure the kind of views we we're blessed with.
- wallartTM (2/5): 15 minute stay. Forget it! - Quite how this hotel has any +ve ratings I do not know. Accidentally booked the wrong dates, but was unable to change them a month before, despite phoning and messaging, so had to book an extra night and swallow the cost; that could be considered my fault.

- 729mallikab (2/5): Worst hotel - Most unhygienic place... it was the most pathetic experience first I was given the room which had water all over the floor in the bathroom ,then I was given the second room which had a window glass broken ,with the pieces of glass on the floor and was not even cleaned up when I asked them to at least change or clean the glass from the floor of the room, also manager was always missing from the hotel all the time... the rooms and the bedding was so stinky also bathroom had black stains on the floor which were so unhygienic and shower hardly had any water pressure... was such a waste of time and money
- Philippines (6/5): - The washroom is dirty
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The support staff was very friendly and welcoming!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very fast check-in . They are waiting for me because I was arriving late.
- John (6/5): Great Location but hotel in poor state of repair. - Great location and friendly staff, but hotel in poor state of repair and I think it will not be on my return list unless all other options are not available
- mjnavida (10/5): A Decent Place Near Siam's Shopping District - If you are searching for a budget place to stay near Siam's shopping district, Tongpoon Hotel is the place to go. The place is clean and the strawberry jam for breakfast is yummy. Friendly and helpful staff, too.
- Juan (8/5): Goog deal - This Hotel is near MBK, an ideal place for shopping.
- Boy Qun (8/5): Good location. Easy to go everywhere. - Nice hotel with a super friendly staff. It's not a luxury hotel but I'm really comfortable here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): The only thing good is the location - We only stayed for 1 night to catch the train next day. The location was great, it was walking distance to MBK. The room was spacious, but the furniture was very worn out. The bathtub was quite slippery, I had to clean it before I could shower otherwise I could've slipped. The towels and pillowcases had yellow stains on them. I understand that this is a budget hotel but they should still need to be hygienic. Rust was everywhere, the fridge was disgusting, very old and rusty.
- Mike (6/5): Nice hotel - pretty nice, good location, a little old with some unused spaces. rooms are large and the balcony is small. However, the price is excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - House keeping and the house keeping staff are good. Presently hotel under renovation so no facilities available.
- Eric (8/5): An awesome value hotel for the budget conscious. - This is a dated and old hotel. It looks like the property is undergoing a renovation, at least on the outside. Furniture are all dated. However, the staff was extremely helpful and polite, always offering free coffee as we leave the property. They even allowed us to check in early. The hotel is close to many place of interests: 1.5 miles from the train and MRT station, 2 miles from the major shopping malls of Siam Discovery, MBK, Paragon, etc. It is also about maybe 3 miles from Chinatown. It might not be a "shiny and new" hotel, but I would say we got our money's worth.
- Hlan (4/5): Poor Hotel Condition , Area and Complain !!! - I booked this hotel according to customer reviews and star rating. Also bcoz of the promotion price too.But the condition of the hotel is very poor.I was expected that bad.got some pictures of the room. The area isn’t great either.Scare of going out Night time.I don’t know how come it got smoe good rating. I left 3 nights earlier b4 it comes to check out date. It did not even have the standard of the some inns. Shouldn’t be called as hotel. I really want my money back for 3 nights I did not stay as compensation. If you guys want to see why I complain it I got some pictures to prove. Pls contact me via my email for this. Hope you guys can sort it out for me. Thxx for your time .
- Alrin (4/5): This hotel is not ready for stay - Expedia should go to survey this hotel before advertising in your hotel list.
Room is old, door can be closed safely (old door)
All furniture is very old (old chair, old desk, old cupboard) except air conditioner & heater (just installed)
No telephone ; No hair dryer; No electric kettle; No cloth hanging at all at bath room.
The receptionist can't speak English, not even listening English at all. Not ready to handle foreign customer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - An old style hotels, with big back TVs and fridge, can use more electrical outlets. Lots of renovations when I was there. Local streets foods are really great around that area.
- Mary (6/5): Old Hotel - It was close to the Railway Station. Hotel is old old old.
- 720victoriaw (8/5): Much better than expected - I booked this hotel in a rush without realising I hadn’t read any reviews on it. I booked it because of its location and because it was much cheaper than some of the other hotels in the area. It was only on the way there that I found the Trip Advisor reviews and some reviews on Google that made me very nervous! The Google reviews were mostly about a night club that was in the hotel that was still open well after sunrise. However, this nightclub has now been shut down and the hotel was fine. We were able to walk to and from MBK and the other nearby shopping malls, as well as the train station which gave us easy access to other areas of Bangkok. It was a little further out than some of the other hotels, but I think this was worth it for the cheap price. The hotel was pretty shabby in some of the common areas like the hallways and elevators, but the staff were lovely and friendly. The room was fine and the bedding was clean. The bathroom could have done with an upgrade or a good professional scrub but other than that, it was fine. I definitely don’t think this hotel deserves the terrible reviews it has received. Overall, it is a budget hotel. If you are looking for somewhere pretty, don’t stay here. However if you’re looking to save some money and want a pretty central location with your own private space to sleep in, this place is just fine. 3 stars for the quality of the hotel, plus 1 extra star for how much cheaper it was.
- 371wesj (8/5): 9 days-nice central location - Nice friendly place weekend market across the street.Breakfast was okay.Upstairs restaraunt was excellent and in house massage was top rate!Local cab drivers were friendly and fair. Mr Num a great facilitator.
- JoannaEngland (4/5): Old and Dingy - We unexpectadly had to stay an extra night in Bangkok and a travel advisor suggested this place. It was resonably cheap but it's not even worth what we paid. The foyer area was lovely marble and gave us false hopes. The room was big but had nothing except the bed and a TV in it. The room and the bathroom looked like they hadn't been changed since the 1900's. I couldn't tell if the room was dirty or just going rotten. We slept in sleeping bag liners because the bed didn't look particulary inviting. Breakfast was included...but I wish it wasn't!! There are much nicer hotels around it!!
- stroalki (4/5): would never stay here again...never - My husband and I stayed at Tong Poon for 1 night at an exorbitant price. The room was damp and smelly. The headboard for the bed was dirty and the walls were dirty and cracked. The breakfast room was ok but the options were limited. We do not recommend staying here.
- jollyjoyjoy (2/5): if you like been yelled at and having pens thrown at you... this is your hotel - This is the worst hotel that i have ever stayed in. The rooms are noting like they appear in the picture. The staff remind me of sloths they are lazy and not willing to help any one. We stayed here for a total of three days and on the day of our check out our friends who were meeting up with us came up to our room for 40 min while we finished packing our bags. When we came down the recptionist told us that we had to pay 300 bhart for each of our visotors comming up to our room, total 600 bhart. We refused to because we knew they were trying to scam us. Luckly we did not give them the key back. The receptionsts started yelling at us and then thorwing objects at us.My sister go hit by a pen. We eventuly got our bond back and did not have to pay the 600 bhart. But never again.
- ewsko1 (2/5): terrible!! let me out of here! - I strongly do not recommend to anybody to enter this place... After weeks of travelling thru Thailand I was pretty happy that finally I will have a nice 3star room with fun, cosy bed, hot water and nice breakfast...oh well reality was far away from this...when I first entered the hotel I had that impression that it looks a bit different that on webpage .after I realised that rooms are in not the best condition , swim pool was old and dirty (I was told by staff not to swim because water wasn’t changed for a long time, ) restaurant was overprized and there was not a lot of choice for me as I am vegetarian...hotel seems like one of those place totally forgotten that needs to be refurnished asap!!!!,... Staff in the reception was not in the best mood when I first come, the women at the desk didn’t even say hello or even smile ...just asked about my passport and confirmation booking...I thing that was the most rude staff I’ve ever meet..And I travelled a bit so I was very surprised of that behaviour..Next day when asked about breakfast for vegetarians they told me that in the prise for room only American style breakfast is included and I can’t have nothing else... ok I thought >>so I’ve asked to give me just a toast& jam... my b/fast was: cold toast & bad quality jam & worst coffee ever.. When I tried to use and internet I was told to pay for an hour even I was using it for 15 min.. At the end I requested lady from reception to book me a taxi for an airport, again.... instead of regular price around 300bht I was told to pay 500bht...as she explained that I need to pay for highway,,,I left hotel immediately after that ,,, no one said thank you or goodbye, outside I‘ve took firs better taxi and driver charged me 310bht..Well I think that she just tried to earn some extra cash....
- charlotte411 (4/5): Rude, stuck up staff, never again! - We booked this hotel at the last minute after being told by a policeman not to stay in our original hotel due to the dangerous location, we went to the T.A.T and this was the most reasonable place we found. When we got there the receptionists were all very rude and unhelpful and looked at us whenever we passed the desk like we weren't good enough to stay at the hotel. The deposit was more than the stay for the room we booked and the place was very gloomy all round.
It was close to the skytrain and a local mall, although the hotel is next to a tuk-tuk station, so we were harrassed by about 10 differant drivers everytime we approached or left the hotel refusing to take no for an answer!
Breakfast was okay, although there was no choice- just a british fry up with fruit on the side.
We went to see the pool and it was tiny with 3 patio chairs around it- you could only access it at certain times of day also.
They had computers with the internet but it was a mininum of 1hr for 100bt. I asked for 10minutes and she shouted 1 hr mininum at my face.
The room was clean and comfortable, alothough the bathroom seemed to be designed for little people though!
Definately wouldn't stay here again, Ive stayed in cheaper and much nicer places in bangkok before. never again at the tong poon hotel!
- WantokQueensland (4/5): Give it a miss - I think this place might have been flash in the early 70's but nothing has been done to it since, even the staff look like they've been there that long. Could definately do with a make-over, even just new lamps would be a start. The brochure advertises cable TV, but evidently it's an old brochure so they said. Our bathroom light was held on to the wall by sticky tape and the mattress had collapsed on one side. Very ordinary place. Only plus was that it is close to MBK for shopping. Not happy with this one.
- YCTan (2/5): Terrible - Do not stay in this hotel
Rate: 1000Baht per day, not worth 200baht
Staff are unfriendly. Sour faces
Very calculative, charges 16Baht for drinking water in Mini Bar (Most hotels in Thailand provide 2 bottles free daily, never been charged before).
Charged 30Baht for an old drinking glass accidently broked by children in the room.
Insist on 60Baht (1 hr) CASH payment to use the internet, turned down request for 15 minutes usage (dont even considering that our group utilised 8 rooms for a total of 5 days)
Room not clean, Air Cond noisy, Dimm Lighting, Turned OFF all lights in front of guests even before dawn.
Breakfast are simple and lousy, same toast, sausages, tiny ham and 1 egg everyday
Don't feel consuming anymore on the 3rd day.
We found a better hotel 500 metres away -
The Bangkok City Suite, 1, Phetburi Road +[--] www.staybangkok.com.
Only 900Baht daily with Buffet Breakfast, plenty of choices and eat all you can. Free 24hr WIFI and 30 minutes internet daily
