- Georg (5/5): Wir kommen nicht wieder - Stadtnähe Fensterverdunklung nicht zu öffnen
Bad renovierungsbedürftig
Preis/Leistung passt nicht

- Elaine (7/5): - The toilet in one of our rooms (room number one) was coming away from the wall, and we were very wary of using it
- Parker (8/5): -
- Steven (10/5): Perfect base for one night - Very comfortable beds and pillows. Slept very well.

- Iain (10/5): Very clean and accommodating 😊 - Very clean room. Very accommodating owner. Went above and beyond everything to make my stay comfortable 😊.
Thank you.
- shannon (6/5): Wont be staying again - Didnt like that the room was in the courtyard where people were drinking, and had 2 drunks making inappropriate jokes as we were going in our room. Disgusting!
Also, our room was right next to the coolers for the beer pumps so every hour they would come on and make the wall vibrate.
- Samuel (8/5): -
- Katherine (10/5): Great place to stay - Prime location
- Tom (4/5): -
- Dan (8/5): - Good location Nothing to dislike
- Marsden (6/5): Cheap and you get what you pay for. Heating was on full blast everywhere and very noisy from downstairs. Access to the r - Central No parking. Very noisy with the music from the pub downstairs. Very hot.
- Lauren (9/5): Cute little room in country side uk - Cosy place to stay in Dorchester! Situated above a pub and easy to check in at the bar where the hosts guided you to the rooms above! Also can come and go as you need as there is a back entrance I don’t need to go through the pub once you have the keys. Room have a kettle and a few welcome snacks. Beds are comfy but thin doona and no extra blankets in the room (might have extra if you ask). Bathroom and room clean on arrival, but on check out pub was closed and no staff around to hand over keys and no check out instructions as was a little confusing
- Agnieszka (10/5): -

- Robert (5/5): - Staff were great, fab location and good value for money
- Vineeth (8/5): Good place to stay with minimum facilities. Bit overpriced for what we get. - Location, cleanliness, safety. Toilet not attached. No amenities like shower gel or soap.
- Derry (9/5): Efficient and without a hitch. Smooth operation - Staff said they would leave key in door and did. All went smoothly. No breakfast, left in early morning Nothing

- Fashina (10/5): - No heating, it's freezing cold 🥶
- Hayley (8/5): A pleasurable stay in an historic and well kept pub - It was kept in beautiful condition downstairs. The room was clean and adequate and had some lovely complimentary items such as shampoo, soaps, teas & coffee. The staff was lovely and helpful. We received a lovely welcome. It was quiet downstairs. We had intentions to end our evening out on the town at our own accommodating pub, but sadly not one single person was in it apart from the solitary bar staff … and it was Saturday night! When everywhere else was busy. It was so sad to see such a historic pub hollow. When everything about it felt so inviting, including the ghostly tales we were told and experienced! Perhaps the owners should consider utilising its history for promotion…

- Nico (5/5): Room was clean, Staff were helpfull and plesent, conditions were average for the price. - Location, was centreally located in town. Did not include parking and was expensive and inconvieniate to park a car, bathroom altho was for our use only was located across a hallway, Bathroom shower rail was loose and hanging down and came apart if you pulled on the curtain.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Daniel paul sherratt (10/5): The best of the old beautiful old ship. X - The management team were amazing .and do help ful the rooms are so lovely and clean and quite
And tha food is wonderful. Lovely Place. And lovely staff .excellent well recommended by myself .plus great great value for money .many thanks DanielPaul Not a thing that I did not like .
- Baugh (9/5): Lovely, relaxing time with family. Nice room, comfy beds - Friendly greeting, pub downstairs meant there was someone on site if there were any problems (though there weren't any) Everything you could need in the room.
- Greg (5/5): - Beds were clean and comfortable Rooms old, bathrooms very tired and old - didn't want to use facilities. Having to leave via the fire exit and external metal steps as pub locked off from rooms
- Alison (5/5): Adequate. - Staff were very friendly, helpful and polite on the phone and when I arrived.
Generous amount of tea and coffee!
Location was very convenient. A little ‘run down’ (see photos).
I didn’t feel entirely secure - there is direct access to the door of the room from the street and just a basic Yale-style lock. Adding a bolt would be cheap and easy.
The room has a hard laminate floor - a doormat just inside the door would be useful to wipe shoes on.
As pub closed at 8pm, there was no-one to ask for the WiFi password when I realised there was no info inside the room.
- Rich (7/5): A cosy budget stay - The room was clean and comfortable, and the manager seemed genuinely concerned for my welfare. I had everything I needed and slept very well. The Old Ship Inn is very conveniently located for the town centre, and surprisingly quiet. I can recommend it for a budget stay, close to events at the Corn Exchange and the museums. The door handle was a bit loose, with a bodged repair, and the desk chair was metal. The heating was off when I got up in the morning.
- Colin (10/5): -
- Anderson (8/5): Really friendly staff, great location, lovely home made pizza, friendly vibe - Locality Annoying green light in the room that kept me awake
- Pat (8/5): Dorchester seems an expensive place to stay, but this was pretty good value for money - Very quiet room as it was midweek so no outside karaoke etc. going on. Easy to find, right in the middle of the town and three doors down from Wetherspoons so food wasn't a problem. Friendly staff welcomed me and showed me to my room. Bed was comfortable, linen and towels spotless. Plenty of tea bags etc. provided. Toilet bowl could have done with a good scrub with bleach. Strange having to go up the fire escape to access the room, but preferable to having one off the pub garden. Couldn't work out what to do with my key on departure as no access to the pub in the morning, ended up returning to my room and leaving it in there.
- Mrs S (10/5): - Lovely comfortable, clean room, friendly staff, and pet friendly.
- Judith (7/5): -
- Debbie (5/5): Okay for one night, comfortable enough - Rooms were nicely decorated. Bedding was clean. Facilities were good. Staff were friendly I don’t think it could be helped but the frying smell from the kitchen was a little off putting in the rooms. Also the staff that I’m assuming lived there coming back at 4am and being quite noisy.
- fraine (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Good , clean room in a good pub in the centre of town. - The hotel is on a main street in the centre of town close to all the attractions. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The "guest" internet did not work in my room. I had to use my laptop in the pub so consoled myself with a pint whilst doing so. The rooms were off the seating area at the back, but private enough and no one stayed late outside so it was quiet. This is not a criticism, but I mention it for the layout as the rooms are not inside the main building of the pub which incidentally is a lovely old pub as well.
- Valerie (5/5): Would not stay there again. - Not a lot, it served its purpose of a bed for the night. Even though we knew there was no parking on site, we didn’t expect there not to be any long term parking near the premises. We had to walk over 10 minutes with our luggage from the nearest car park and had to leave the car park by 8am the next morning or be charged for another day.
- Ian (4/5): The Bare Necessities - Central location but not aware that there is no car park nearby. So any luggage must be dumped whilst on double yellows. Or wheeled from the pay car park about 400 yards away. Its free between 6pm and 8am. So you have to get up early. Buying a ticket after 6 will give you a little more time. There are a few metered on street parking places in the road behind. But max 1 hour!
A bizarre feature is the access when the pub isnt open. The 'spoons (boo!) 2 doors down has lead to the pub closing at 8pm on up to 6 evenings a week.
There are just 4 rooms. 2 in the pub 2 in the outside drinking area (garden it is not).
Out of opening hours, access is via an unlocked gate? at the rear. Additionally, the 2 rooms inside require a climb up 1 flight of stairs and ducking through the fire exit doors!?
The room we had was pokey. No room for a wardrobe just a rail with 5 hangars. The twin bed was up against the wall. Why then have full length curtains? The drink making facility minimalist. The shower was decent though.
Sad to say but inevitably I think this pub will soon closs
- Marcin (9/5): -
- Margaret (6/5): Friendly and clean - Friendly staff. Very clean. The cleaner was v helpful and did a good job on the room. Lots of little things need attention and repairs but my main concern was the key and lock. I struggled to get in, and on some occasions I had to leave the room unlocked as I couldn’t be sure I’d be able to get in again. This could have been a problem when no staff around (in the mornings for example)
- Margaret (8/5): Friendly staff and great location - Excellent location and friendly staff (Becky) No wifi in the chalet
- Mann Craig (1/5): - Nothing I have asked for a refund. We left after3 hours due to the noise. The accommodation is situated in a beer garden, and as we needed to be up early we needed sleep. There was no mention of staying awake until 1 o'clock in the morning when i booked. So i am entitled to a full refund. Many thanks Craig Mann
- Sima (7/5): Worth a visit. - Comfortable beds and friendly staff. Central location for visiting local museums etc., Lovely cozy old style Inn. No Parking, but a long stay car park less than 5 mins away.
- nathalie (10/5): Cozy Room, Great Location, Lovely Town - We really liked the accommodation and the town. The location is perfect for visiting the south coast of England. The room was clean and tastefully furnished with everything you need for a short stay. It has a separate entrance through the backyard and is accessed via a small staircase, so we left our large suitcases in the car. The bathroom is located across the hall. The staff are friendly, and in the evening it’s just a short walk downstairs to have a beer. The town itself is very charming, with plenty of great cafés, restaurants, and a lovely shopping street all within a few minutes’ walk. I can highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to experience staying in a traditional English pub. Nothing…
- Sarah (10/5): - Dog friendly, clean, friendly and convenient - just what we needed!
- Elaine (7/5): - Location was handy for our trip to Weymouth for the fireworks
- Betty (3/5): - Room was clean but very sparse. No bedside table, very basic tea facilities. Hanging space only. Small room with two beds. Room was accessed via fire escape. Gate to this area was open all night, so easy for anyone to reach room. No staff on premises after 9.00pm
- Mark (6/5): -
- Janet (6/5): - Good position for overnight stay. Basic accommodation, no food available.
- Andy (8/5): Great location and value for money, right in the heart of Dorchester. - Met by Becky in Reception and taken immediately to room. Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Last minute stay at The Ship Inn - Booked very last minute and needed accommodation which accepted a dog. They had 1 room left thankfully. The room slept 4 and was clean and comfy. Beds were comfy too and had tea and coffee facilities, tv, hair dryer. The bathroom for our room was adjacent to the room but for our use only. Lovely welcome from Beccie, she gave us some great recommendations where to go (Durdle Door and Lulworth cove). The pub is right on the high so easily accessible to shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, cinema etc. Enjoyed a few drinks in the bar/beer garden as well. Overall good value for money Just an FYI....as this pub is on the high st, there is no on site parking (not the pubs fault). However it was not an issue as there is a car park at the top of the road "Top 'o' town" which is a couple of mins walk, which is reasonably priced and free from 6pm to 8am.
- Christine (1/5): Probably a scam - Nothing I did not go there as it was absolutely not possible to contact the place prior to travel. They did not answer messages, did not answer the phone and did not return calls - although this was announced on their answering machine.
The money was taken via Booking in advance.
I have informed Booking, who were also not able to contact the property.
This needs to be flagged and investigated thoroughly.
- Mark (9/5): The Old Ship - an ideal base of operations! - The accommodation whilst not deluxe was perfectly adequate for our requirements.
The manager (Becky) was extremely friendly, welcoming and more than happy to help in any way.
The rooms are comfortable enough and are ideal for anyone visiting the area who requires a "base of operations". Being based in a pub, the rooms are accessible via the bar - which again is friendly and welcoming (especially after a long afternoon of walking in the sun!) - or from the street via the beer garden after hours.
One thing that was neither positive nor negative for us was the non-provision of breakfast; the room has a kettle and there are many cafés in Dorchester between the Old Ship and the railway station. Something can be had, even on a Sunday morning.
I would recommend The Old Ship to anyone wanting friendly, no-nonsense accommodation,. If I have one complaint about The Old Ship, it would be the cups provided in the room were on the small side. We improvised with reused takeaway cartons, but I'm sure if we'd asked Becky she'd have found us some. Hardly a deal-breaker!
- George (10/5): Exceptional - We loved it was perfect Could do with a small fan or something in the summer
- Sylvia (7/5): Good - The beds were very comfortable and the shower nice and hot and powerful! The location was really good - right next to the main shopping street. Considering she had only just taken over and was finding her way, the general manager was very nice and helpful. She even supplied us with milk from her own fridge as she had been left with low stock It was noisy on the first night but only until 8.30 and that was to be expected as it is a pub. We could have done with a chest of drawers as there was very little storage - just a small hanging rail. Curiously there were no waste bins inside the room so that would have been a helpful addition. Very stingy with the milk allocation although that was probably down to it being a transition period and as I say the landlady did bring us her own milk.
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (3/5): Never again! - Central location. Dirty room. Radiator stuck on. No fan. Dirty cups and filthy toilet. Very very noisy room. At midnight I had the pleasure of listening to the people in the adjacent flat arguing about microwaving chicken. No staff around unless bar open. Fire exits propped open. I could go on…
- Kevin (6/5): We were there for one night. As a short stop it was ideal - Centrally located
- Daniel (1/5): Bad -
- James (2/5): Very poor accommodation - Location Cleanliness, tv remote did not work , blind broken , shower cubicle dirty, soap on the floor, toilet stained , only sockets in room by Tv. Bedside lights both bulbs broken.
- Robert (8/5): Comfortable and good value for money accommodation in - Central location in Dorchester, friendly and helpful staff Opened straight onto beer garden, shame the pub doesn’t do food
- Robert (4/5): Adequate only - Friendly staff Poor quality accommodation.
- Genevieve (7/5): Good - Not applicable. No breakfast available.
- Odinvi (10/5): Great place - Great staff. Comfy room. Excellent food.
- Graham (7/5): Just fine - Easy It was fine
- Lijomol (9/5): Superb -
- Carlo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (1/5): Terrible - Location in centre of town Noisy, rowdy, music playing till 2am, couldn’t sleep, surly staff. Awful experience
- Justine (5/5): Passable - The staff were fabulous. I feel sorry for the managers as I feel their hands are tied,so to speak. 90 pounds for 1 night with no servicing of the room and no breakfast is really a case of taking the p**s!
I really felt for Emma , the manager and I don't blame the fact she is fed up! Owners need to take note! Do not rip your customers off, if you want to survive, do breakfasts and offer a better service. It isn't that hard. see above
- Reid (5/5): Passable -
- Stevie (8/5): Very good - Top of town carpark nearby
Lovely park up the road
Thomas Hardys statue nearby
Plaza cinema 1930s round the corner
Wetherspoons pub few doors up
Basic room but good for the price Not enough storage, some drawers would be good
Shelving for bits and bobs in the bathroom would also be good
Some instructions re using the back gate would have helped
- Chloe (8/5): Lovely cosey Room in the pub, very comfy, great location for the Brewerry Square. - Very comfy beds, hot shower, enjoyed the hot drinks selection, loved the tv in bed was a nice treat. Even though was very close, we didn't feel like it was overlooked or too noisey at all. Only had one large towel but wasn't a big issue as only there two days.
- Uni-arb (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
