Tanya (5/5): - I have very mixed feelings about this place. There are definitely some positives, but also quite a few negatives that could seriously impact its reputation if not addressed soon. In my opinion, an average rating of 8.8 is far too generous—I would rate it closer to a 5 at best. On arrival, the property makes a great first impression. The gardens are well maintained, and the setting feels peaceful and beautiful. Its proximity to the Malelane Gate of Kruger National Park is also a major advantage for those wanting to stay just outside the park. While some of the buildings appear older—and a few even looked abandoned, which raised some safety concerns—our unit itself was comfortable and well-equipped. We had a ground-floor unit with lovely views of the water and fountain. The space was generous, with ample cupboard storage, a well-equipped kitchen, and braai facilities outside. All rooms were air-conditioned, and the bed, pillows, and linen were exceptional—easily the highlight of our stay. The bathroom and shower were also spacious, and we appreciated that our dishes were washed daily. Several small issues quickly added up and detracted from the overall experience. Our interactions with staff were inconsistent—some were friendly and helpful, while others were noticeably rude and unhelpful. On one occasion, we returned from an early morning game drive at around 2pm to find our room still hadn’t been cleaned. After notifying reception, cleaners were sent, but their attitude was poor. As we were exhausted, we asked if they could clean while we rested, but they seemed irritated, handled items roughly, and ultimately didn’t change the bedding at all—even after we offered to step out. Cleanliness was an ongoing concern. During our seven-night stay, the floors were rarely cleaned properly—we could feel sand underfoot most days, with the only properly cleaned day being when we were present and saw the floors being mopped. Our bed linen was never changed throughout the stay. The veranda area was also neglected, with dirty outdoor furniture and even a black widow spider found under one of the chairs. The bathroom ceiling had visible mould, and the in-room safe was unusable despite staff suggesting we use keys for a keypad lock. Additionally, a request made at reception about using the spa was never followed up. The restaurant experience was particularly disappointing and ultimately prompted this review. At breakfast, I specifically requested beef sausages, but was served pork instead. After sending the meal back, I waited an additional 15 minutes—with no resolution—while my partner had already finished eating. During this time, it also felt as though the waitress treated other tables more warmly, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. We eventually left without my meal. When we raised the issue at reception, the response was underwhelming. The staff member on duty showed little concern, offered a minimal apology, and made no effort to resolve the situation.

Nhlanhla (4/5): Not an experience, I would repeat or recommend. - The location The Executive Suite G2 needs deep cleaning and a bit of maintenance. The main bedroom door does not close without being wedged, and toilet has a bad smell that is unpleasant. The en-suite shower has no door, no hot water from the same shower and the water flow from the shower is so low due to clogged holes. First bedroom on your right had filthy walls and curtains had black marks, while the second bedroom door gets stuck when closed, one has to leave it open for safety reasons.
Glantine (8/5): Enjoyed our stay, the place was ideal, comfortable, spacious and clean. - The room was very spacious, clean and I liked the atmosphere at the property. The bedroom tv worked by we couldn't find its remote.
clive (8/5): Absolutely beautiful settings. - The place is beautiful, the breakfast is great and the food at the restuarant is fantastic. Reception staff, not helpful. A big reason we decided to stay here was because of the spa, which we only find out when we wanted to book that it now only operates on weekends.

The fact that the groundsmen kept their equipment in our garage and were walking up and down from the early hours, disturbing our sleep. The backyard view was not so great; people were walking past in the field, and there was no privacy.

Mohamed (8/5): - Lovely chalets with all conveniences. Booked an apartment with river view for an overnight stay out of Kruger Park but was given a chalet with sugar cane plantation views. Near to the Kruger's Malelane gate. Place needs some TLC, deep cleaning and maintenance to keep it in good shape otherwise its going to deteriorate very quickly. Abit noisy due to the train that passes by often.

Very poor service and facilities - Our rooms were flooding during a rain storm with multiples leaks in every room as said by multiple guests staying there. The bathroom facilities weren’t really clean as well with torn towels. Booked a 5am Game Drive, and the staff was over an hour late. Very disappointed!

Zaakirah (7/5): Exceptional, but it can be improved. - It was extremely spacious and very private, The rooms were far apart, the bathrooms were big Less than 20 km from the Malelane Kruger gate. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There was no braai but when asked they brought one. The place was well equipped with everything you would need. It is alittle noisy with the train, not being too far from the road, and a machine(probably from the plantation) but it wasn't unbearable. Overall it was good stay. The mosquitos, you cannot leave and window or door open, which is ok because there are air-cons. I think they could do a deep cleaning, on the cupboard handles and the finer details. The towels are really hard.

Abbey (4/5): - The apartment was spacious, but we expected a hotel type room. The location was the main reason for the selection being close to the highway. The setting and theme is fantastic. Staff are courteous and helpful. The room was basic and access to the lodge is not paved. Restaurant shuts at 8pm and not many places to eat in the area. Wanted to use the Spa, but closed on arrival at 7pm, book early.

Thandi (9/5): Overall out stay was great , lovely place and great area. - The breakfast was great, the hotel look and feel was amazing including the area it’s located in. Staff were so helpful and super friendly. It was a short but memorable stay. The aircon in our room had a rattling noise and was not working. Also one of our chairs on the balcony was broken - got to notice it when I sat on it and almost fell with an infant in my arms.
