- Theresa (5/5): - I definitely disliked the scaled down meatless breakfast!! Holiday Inn Express is known for the wonderful breakfast so to reserve stay at one of their locations that presents such a mediocre breakfast was very disappointing.

There were high school cheer students running up and down hall screaming and slamming doors at 12:30 am. We were on the 1st floor and the hotel staff did nothing to stop the students from doing this.

The place was i - It was conveniently located Some of the repairs were not done the best in the room. But it was overall super clean and smelled like it was clean. It was just aesthetics.

- mathias (2/5): Terrible experience - The night of the 16th of October, we booked rooms 419 and 404, and my syster in good stayed in room 419. The first night was horrible because she got no sleep and woke up with bites all over her body. In the morning, she called the front desk and explained that she was covered in bites but she had no idea why. She asked if they could change the bed sheets and they did. She had thought that it would be the solution. The second night the same thing happened. At about 3 am she went to the restroom because my whole body itched even more. She discovered that She had insects all over her pijamas. When she went back to the bed, she saw that there was an incredible amount of insects all over the mattress. She took a picture of an insect and uploaded it to Google and She discovered she had been bitten by bed bugs. Then, she rushed to room 404 to ask my family to help and noticed that there were also bed bugs in that room. At about 5 am we went to the front desk and reported the problem to a young man. She showed him the bites on her body and a big bed bug that we had on a napkin. He still wanted to confirm, and went up to the room and collected evidence to be able to switch our rooms. He was kind and let us switch. We counted 62 bites, and she suffer about that during more than one week. We have evidence in photos and videos of what happened in your hotel. We believe that I deserve at least a refund for what I payed for both of the rooms due to horrible experience we had. We send this information to the hotel, but unfortunatelly nobody answer to us. I hope Booking can help on this case.

In the second room the Corners in the bathroom had buildup of dirt/grime. Walking on carpet made our shoes/feet black. The breakfast was very disappointing. Eggs gross, sausage and potatoes all poor quality and taste. The only thing edible was the yogurt and cereal. Not impressed for the price paid at this hotel. We just stayed at the exact same hotel in Hoffman Estates , IL and the stay was significantly better. Also, ice maker on 2nd floor out of order, as well as one of the elevators. And the signage on the building also half broken. Says Holidann expss. Overall owners seem to be neglecting fixing things.

Then it felt like there was no air circulation. There was a funny smell in the room. Finally, there was belt left from another guest hanging on the hook behind the bathroom door.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel for the price - This hotel was a nicely priced option for our family's visit to Texas State for new student orientation. There were other options up and down I-35, but this one was more reasonably priced. The staff and accommodations were excellent and our room was clean and all of the rooms have been well designed with families in mind (little things like a full mirror and outlet/counter top outside the bathroom, so multiple people can get ready at once in the morning). Our only complaints are that the shower heads were sub-par, which resulted in an unsatisfying shower. Also geographically, the hotel is very near 2 different railway tracks, so it's possible that your family will hear train horns pretty late at night (I think the last one we heard was after midnight). Other than that, this was a great hotel and a convenient choice that is near Texas State.

- Berry (7/5): Overall good value. Would stay again, but would bring my own pillow. - The really tall guy was super nice, and quick to bring us an extra blanket on two different requests. The place was clean, the bed was comfy, the shower was nice, the temperature in the room was great, most of the food was good at breakfast. We arrived soon after 8pm and the pool was already closed. The pillows were too thick and caused neck cramps. At breakfast, there were no eggs left when we arrived. After 20 minutes, still no eggs.

- Aaron (10/5): Terrific! - We enjoyed our stay in the San Marcos South Hotel. It gave us quick access (18 minutes) to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. Great access to restaurants and many other attractions in the area.

The desk area, desk chair and table were dusty and had pieces of hair scattered on them. The restroom was lacking a toilet paper roll refill. The room did not include the typical nook where the coffee maker and mini fridge are placed. The fridge was just against a wall with a coffee maker on top. The AC unit was loud. There were also loud floor fans in the hall as if they were airing out a wet area. The pool water was not clean and green so we couldn't swim in it as we had hoped.
- Heather (8/5): Amazing staff - The staff was the best part of the stay. They were so friendly and helpful. We needed to do late checkout and use a private room for a video call after checkout. They helped us figure everything out and let me hang out on property with the kids while my husband did his call. The building is starting to feel its age. The floor we were on smelled damp. The pool area wasn’t the cleanest. The breakfast buffet wasn’t amazing. But the awesome workers made up for all that.

Asked for pillows and blankets and was given 2 sheets. There were no pillows or blankets available for my kids who had to sleep on the floor. The bed was terribly uncomfortable. We also had one towel for the shower.

- Andrea (7/5): The room was fantastic, the pool could have used a cleaning, and I wish I tried the breakfast - I really liked the size of the room - it was huge and the beds were comfortable. I liked that their were pillow cases with a firm or soft option of pillow inside. As far as the room part of the stay it was great. I booked a hotel that had a pool and hot tub to enjoy with my kids and we just couldn't imagine getting in the pool. The water was very musty green and not clear and looked in desperate need of a cleaning. The buffet looked good but was only scraps left when we got downstairs - there were a lot of people all eating at once and it seemed like the staff just couldnt keep up - I could tell they were working in the kitchen to try and make more but we left without eating.

- Barbra (7/5): Location is great and the rooms have great amenities. - Location I checked in early, but returned from work after hours and the front sliding doors were closed. There were no signs advising to go around the building to enter through the side doors. The front desk personnel was not upfront and I knocked for a few minutes, she initially didn't believe I was a guest. She just stated I needed to go around and pointed outward. I was carrying quite a bit of things and was extremely tired from my workday. If this is the protocol after hours, there needs to be more information posted, like signs directing where we are able to access entrance after hours. I would have had no problem walking around I just didn't know where to go based on her directions. She finally let me in.
