Guest Reviews
- Elaine (9/5): - Situation, comfort,views relaxing
- Jo (7/5): dog friendly with a garden and fully fenced - spectacular view
comfortable and clean
budget friendly
- Ro (3/5): Overpriced and disappointing - The view was lovely It was like a university share house. Mismatched crockery and glassware ( many had the names of pubs/ restaurants on them)
There was no dryer, which was fine. However there was no clothes horse and not a single coat hanger in the whole place. When we contacted the owner about a clothes horse he said there was none and suggested we drape our wet clothes on the coat hooks by the front door!! He also said there was a washing line outside (he knew it was raining heavily and was predicted to continue for the next few days)
The doona had a plasticky doona protector on it with no doona cover, it was simply covered with a sheet as a “bedcover”
The fire was prepared with wet wood. We got some dry wood from the shed in the 2 green shopping baskets provided by woolies ( I kid you not!!) and removed the wet wood and got a fire going with the stuff we got
The whole experience was disappointing because at nearly $500 a night there was very little value. So many things were missing…. Hand soap for the kitchen, usable frying pans (the non stick coating was completely blackened YUK), no iron or ironing board, no WiFi (so make sure you have a generous data plan or download before if you want to watch TV), towels so scratchy I worried about my skin!!!
This is a place to avoid at all costs.
Yes the view was nice but it takes more than that to feel like you have had an enjoyable time.
- LovinOZ (10/5): - The view, clean, comfortable, good facilities, the shower, the wildlife. All good.
- Helen (10/5): Home away from home - Location had everything thing you needed to make you feel at home would recommend to anyone who likes peace and tranquility Nothing
- Kathie (10/5): Stunning views - Lovely clean house with comfortable bed and furniture. Kitchen had a great collection of everything.
The views were fantastic, watching the storms roll in and the sunsets.
- Sue (10/5): We had such a restful, rejuvenating stay in this beautiful property. - The view was exceptional. The house was spacious, clean, full of sunshine and extremely well equipped. We are keen cooks and prepared two quite complex meals and found everything we needed to hand. No suggestions, everything was great.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Gabatel (9/5): The family thoroughly enjoyed staying at such a lovely property. - We booked the property for family members to stay in nearby, over Christmas. Matt was very easy to communicate with in the days prior, and the family were very happy with the comfort and cleanliness of the property; enjoying a very pleasant couple of days. They noted that the views were super and that it was an easy walk from the house to the beach and play area.
- Jo (10/5): Loved It - Everything about place Liked everything
- Yvette (8/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): Wonderful getaway - The view is perfect. Clean and tidy. Spacious and cozy house. Nice backyard with a barbecue (not used due to the weather). Lack of a heating system. The fireplace is a nice touch, but not convenient. The Internet would be a plus.
- Josh (10/5): Booked accommodation for my builders on Bruny Island. Everything was as it states, couldnt fault it -
- Helen (10/5): Good spot, will recommend and would go back. - The accommodation was very homely with all that was needed. Beds were comfortable. The fire gave us a great atmosphere for our evening wine.
The view was excellent and we got two beautiful days for our travels.
Would recommend and would go back. All was excellent but the kitchen cupboards and drawers could do with a bit of a sort out.
Probably more things than were needed for a holiday stay.
- Peter (10/5): Magnificent host, great outlook - Location
- Diane (10/5): - Property was very clean and tidy
Spectacular views. Loved it
- Shaun (8/5): - The location was perfect. It was clean and well appointed. The fire was a bit fiddly. Nothing dramatic just overnight took a bit to adjust.
- Jess (9/5): great location and easy to check in and out - Good location for short walks, including to coffee and the pub. Views were amazing. Nice and warm with the fireplace. Good kitchen facilities and appliances. Good space for dog. Towel, soap, coffee, tea, sugar provided.
- Zoya (10/5): -
- WEI SHAN (8/5): -
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional - Great views very clean and cosy
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Allison (10/5): - Amazing view & all the amenities
- Jan (9/5): Superb - The location was excellent either way stunning water views. Convenient for exploring all over Bruny island. A little cold in the morning and the electric heater was not very effective.
- Phil (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Great views and close to Alonnah township, and an ideal base to explore Bruny Island
- Christian (7/5): Good - Clean, homy place with nice view. I used the cottage on two very warm days and was baking, there is no AC and only one mobile fan for the three bedrooms. There is a big ceiling fan in the living room but has probably only effect in winter to keep the heat down. There is one movable electrical heater though. Wouldn't stay there in hot times again or but neither in cold periods.
As people said before, the pans are over their service time and you need to bring own tea towels and own sponge and own beach towels and own shower matrass. Overall it feels like Matt did all new once he was younger and most of the stuff aged with him ;)
No wifi or TV reception but a load of DVD's.
- Jimmy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dobbie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jennifer (9/5): Lovely and relaxing. - Clean and comfortable. Great view.
- Marj (7/5): This is a tidy house in a good location. It was expensive for the style of house and little things like leaving milk for - Neat and tidy in a good location. Value for money.
- Liu (3/5): Not chose again - Nothing No WiFi, small inside the facility
- Bozena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Renee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philippa (10/5): Excellent location. - Excellent location a short walk from the beach. Comfortable, spacious.
- Patricia (9/5): Great location very comfortable. - Location perfect no breakfast provided.Convenient location to tour whole island. No issues it was a lovely place to stay fire was cosy on cold nights.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Great little spot. Would recommend to everyone who visits Bruny Island. Fantastic
- Adrienne (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable! - It was clean , location great, warm, comfortable and generally great. Only two small matters - no Wifi available and no tea towels to dry dishes - hard to wash and put dishes away before leaving with no way of drying them
- Vivienne (9/5): Overall,very good -
- Megan (8/5): Very good - View and facilities No WIFI
- Patricia (9/5): I like the place. - Near the beach. It is clean. Very nice place. It is clean. Have a big kitchen & dinning room.
- Denise (10/5): - Lovely clean property, beds good, great view, heaps of condiments in the kitchen to use . Log fire was great on those cold days nights
- Lynne (8/5): Most enjoyable. - The view was wonderful, the wood fire was fantastic. This property was so comfortable and clean. Nothing, it was great.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Location, space, awesome water views, fireplace, and a wallaby or two in the backyard at night. Nothing
- Brett (8/5): very enjoyable - would recommend others to stay - good location and views back to main land Tasmania. Clean and tidy property. comfy beds. Easy walk (or 2 min drive) to the Hotel. we were there during particularly hot weather. Cover over the deck on the western side of property (where the view is) would make that space more usable and provide some protection for the cottage from the afternoon sun. Note - there is no WIFI
- Jenny (7/5): Good -
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Why would you stay anywhere else? - Roomy, comfortable, warm, exceptionally clean, full sized well appointed kitchen, fabulous views, easy access and just a short walk down the beach to the Bruny Hotel which serves beautiful meals. Heartily recommended this accommodation. Nothing, it is the perfect place to stay on Bruny, summer or winter.
- Matt (10/5): great location. beautiful views. - the views of the bay were amazing. great location.
- Waters (8/5): Very good - Great views and location. House was well equipped. Yard was good for the dog. Range good was dangerous in the kitchen, sharp angle on side.
- Franziska_k. (8/5): Good - The house had a nice view and was big enough with lots of rooms. The provided washing machine was not clean. The fire would not burn so much and the whole house smelled really like chemicals when we arrived. The sleeping rooms themselves are a bit small.
- Kanako (9/5): Superb - very nice view from the livIng space. facilities are good for long stay. Location is good for both living and sightseeing. I want to stay here longer again. Laundry machine is available. But, there is no laundry hangers. Also if Wifi is available, this is perfect.
- Lyn (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Superb - A beautuful spacy cottage at an excellent location. Highly recommended !
- Paul (3/5): Can’t recommend - The view It’s cold even with the fire blazing and tile floors enhance the chill. The cleaning was inferior and the bedside tables had a thick layer of dust indicating poor cleaning practices. The pots and pans and glassware are old and grubby with grime on the oven trays.
- Soo (7/5): Good - Nice view from this cottage. Matt helped us set up fire before we arrive, thank you!
- - (2/5): Basic accommodation at a premium price, managed by a rude, money hungry man. Book elsewhere. - Not much. Felt too uncomfortable to enjoy myself. The host made me feel uncomfortable and I would have cancelled if it was a more flexible cancellation policy. Multiple emails / texts sent at unreasonable times, rude and only interested in money.
- Jenkins (10/5): It was a good place to stay. - Location was good. Hotel was fantastic. It was peaceful.
- Angela (8/5): Very good - fabulous view, location, super comfortable beds and pet friendly.
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect for families - Two lounge areas, so could put the children in there own area. Close to the football/cricket oval and skate bowl. Short stroll to hotel Bruny for tea.
- Kyle (10/5): Amazing, which I could have stayed longer! - Beautiful location, will all the comforts one could want while traveling.
- Rhona (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable and we were welcomed with a warm fire on arrival. really appreciated the quality toiletries and the condiments cupboard. Thank you Matt
- Vicki (8/5): Nice cosy cottage with fireplace - Best place to stay when on Bruny Island .... close to water and waterfront tavern a few minutes drive ...highly recommend the tavern food was amazing ... you need to book or you’ll miss out .... Nothing all was good ...
- Alicia (10/5): - Thanks for having us. Lovely property with great views and almost everything you need in a home away from home.
- Sharon (9/5): Comfortable and view to enjoy - Comfort of the house and views
- Ans (9/5): Superb -
- Frances (8/5): Very good - the view, the helpful owner and the comfort and cleanliness got very hot in the afternoon ; no mozzie screens on at least one of the bedrooms
- Simone (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ki (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Comfortable and clean accommodation with all we needed for a great stay -
- Kim (10/5): Comfortable, clean, pet friendly and welcoming accommodation added to our perfect weekend in a stunning location. - Comfy, clean, very well appointed, in a perfect location. Pet friendly. The views! Nothing!
- Joanne (9/5): Everything we’d hoped for and more! - Simple but comfortable stay with one of the best views I have ever had from our accommodation. Perfect spot for exploring the rest of Bruny Island and has a lovely deck/garden. So peaceful and relaxing with mesmerising views to an island and mainland Tasmania beyond. The owner was really helpful and friendly. Nothing!
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - The location and views are fantastic.
- Kellie (10/5): The perfect Tassie getaway. - It was perfect! clean , comfortable with a perfect view to sit back and take in Bruny and all its beauty. That we didn’t book for a week!! absolutely nothing to dislike .
- Kuniko (9/5): Great to be able to stay with our dog! - Beautiful location. Clean and comfortable.
- Sally (10/5): - The cottage was spotlessly clean with great amenities and spectacular views. We were so relaxed.
- Wilhelmina (8/5): We booked at very short notice, but all was well. Great location, a wonderful view and very comforta -
- Angela (10/5): Well equipped holiday home with a stunning view - The house was incredibly clean and had everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The location was great with a stunning view over the water to Satellite Island. The deck was perfect for some afternoon nibbles and a few drinks while watching the sun go down. It was lovely to arrive to a warm house as Matt had lit the fire for us which made it nice and cosy. We would all definitely recommend this house to our friends and family and we would stay again.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - The view was wonderful. No coffee press
- Powell (7/5): Relaxing and comfortable - Location was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was very cold when we arrived and took a long time to warm up. The fireplace is a lovely idea but we found that it didn't draw very well and was smoky. Probably look at having flue cleaned and maybe moving the top up a bit to enable smoke to escape better.
- Tim (10/5): - Awesome views lovely host. Clean everything you need in the house. Will be back
- Sophie (8/5): - Lovely place to stay, great views. Definitely recommend and would stay there again
- Anne (10/5): - Spacious, modern accommodation with idyllic scenery thrown in. Pet friendly, with a fenced off area for our doggo to play in. A very welcoming owner, who was very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent view - sunset
- Lael (10/5): Worth the trip - Despite gale force winds, cold and rain, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Good location, lovely view, and a cosy atmosphere.
We couldn't do the planned walks because of the weather, so made do with shorter ones.
We were lucky enough to spot a possum, penguin, echidna, quoll and wallaby.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We were there when Hobart temperature were high in 40 degree would have been nice to walk into a cooler house than one very hot home . With just one celling fan and a small fan in another room to cool the house took hours and was very difficult to sleep the first night . So preferably an air conditioner would have being more inviting, the next day we had 2 hours of no power thank god the next day it became cooler that would have being difficult for us especially with children, over roll them home was very tidy and neat and clean so a big tick for that , thanks for letting us stay Im not complaining but a air conditioning aso some form of wifi service would be more My moneys worth we think that would be big tick with children also
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is on a bluff at a convenient location, relatively close to the ferry with fantastic views. While in an area with many close neighbors the house was quiet and private. There is a nice deck overlooking the ocean.
We enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely, comfortable cottage in a brilliant location with magnificent views.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The view from this property was amazing but we feel accommodation was overpriced for 2 people for this time of year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stunning view, very clean and everything you need to make you feel at home! Loved the wood fire! Would absolutely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great Views. Exceptionally outfitted and clean. Easy walk to hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The access and location of the cottage was excellent. The views from the deck, kitchen, living room & 1 bedroom absolutely stunning. Kitchen well equipped. We used and loved the BBQ on the deck. We REALLY enjoyed our stay. Couple of major issues which annoyed my wife. In a full house we expected a washing machine. Not there!!! Caused us difficulties. Also no cupboards to hang clothes. Odd! No WiFi and TV reception patchy & limited but given location not unexpected. No heater other than wood unit, yet needed a "quick something" to take the chill out of the cold mornings. But, all in all still loved it and would come back. R
- PG (8/5): - Wonderful views with lots of space for the two of us. Liked the outside space of garden and deck. However, it would be uncomfortable if the maximum of 6 people were staying with just one toilet/ bathroom in the property which leads off the living room.
Also frustrating that there is no WiFi particularly as we are still planning our future itinerary.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - great value- comfortable-fireplace
Only point to note is no laundry facilities
- Margy (10/5): Great view - Perched up on a hill this place has a great view and is close to the local pub. Comfy bed and a fire to keep you warm. We only stayed one night but would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Great location, very comfortable accommodation and great view. Thanks for a hassle free stay.
