Guest Reviews
- Laura (10/5): Outstanding in all respects - Absolutely outstanding on all fronts.
Very peaceful location away from most of the other tourist spots but still easy to access Yangshuo and very close to a new road that is good for cycling or scooter. The property also offers complimentary bike hire.
The property has been completely refurbished (despite the initial impression you might have as you pass by other derelict buildings!). There are only four guest rooms which means you feel really at home and the owners are some of the most hospitable we have come across while travelling in Asia. Gary and Fiona speak English fluently and went above and beyond to ensure our trip was relaxing.
The room itself was beautifully restored while still maintaining many traditional features. Extremely comfortable bed, relaxing lighting, quality toiletries, fantastic bathroom with huge bath tub.
The communal terrace is a fantastic spot for morning coffee or evening drinks (soft drinks and beer are complimentary) offering stunning views is the karst landscape.
We highly recommend other visitors dine at the property as the cuisine is exceptional - fresh, local ingredients but with a modern flair. Truly outstanding.
We cannot think of anything that could be improved, thank you so much for a memorable stay.
- Tyson (10/5): Hidden Gem - Very rarely do you come across a true hidden gem like this. We had a wonderfully authentic Guilin experience by hiking and biking the surrounding countryside, exploring caves, visiting local markets and eating local cuisine superbly made by the hotel chef. They kept things interesting and made dinner along the river one night and we celebrated Chinese New Years with fireworks and a bonfire.
The staff treats you more as a friend staying in their home than a hotel guest. Gary made sure all facets of our stay was pleasant and would coordinate logistics for the next day's activities. If we had to wake up early he would as well and make sure breakfast was ready for you. He even saved the day when our Li River tour fell through and was able to book us another one at the very last minute.
Every aspect of the room was well thought out. From the large tub and high-end toiletries to the heated floor tiles and toilet seat/bidet. Oh, and beer's all inclusive - so you got that going for you, too.
- Anne (10/5): Luxury in quiet Yangshuo village - Thank you Gary and everyone for making a one-night stay spectacular. The mud brick house, while full of history and culture, is luxurious in every detail. Accompanied by 5-star hospitality, this place is a haven close to but not in the middle of the tourist areas. Will definitely be back.
