Guest Reviews
- Mary (9/5): I highlly recommend a visit to the Ryan Hotel! - Perfect location in the historic center of Wallace. Gourmet food a few steps from the front door.
- Michael (10/5): - Rustic charm, friendly owners, comfy atmosphere. Wallace is tucked in the mountains, and every year we look forward to going for the Depot Days car show. This year we decided to stay the a night at the beautiful Ryan Hotel.
- WIlliam (9/5): Family run and well maintained. - It is clean and comfortable. The decor and style are of the early 1900s. It would not be a place to stay for anyone having difficulty walking up stairs.
- Joel (9/5): -

- louanne (10/5): An excellent stay in a cute town. - Very cute and well maintained historic hotel in a cute historic town. The owner's attention to detail is obvious. The beds and rooms were very comfortable. It's right next door to an excellent restaurant and everything is walkable in Wallace.
- Tia (8/5): Nice property. Walkable to restaurants etc - Great location. Downtown is walkable and very accessible. Hotel has no elevator and rooms are on 2nd floor but we were notified in advance. No TVs in rooms, again notified of that. Owner checked us in and very helpful. There are tours you can do. Nice restaurants for meals. We find Wallace to be the perfect overnight when we travel. Hotel provides coffee, fruit and nutrition bars for guests in the a.m I don't prefer bedspreads and blankets at hotels because of cleanliness concerns. The property felt quite clean tho but it raises ?? In my mind about frequency of laundering that type of bedding, in general. I prefer euro bedding with duvets and fresh covers for each visitor.
- Sherye (9/5): Pretty cosy, comfortable room and right downtown. - I chose the hotel because it was in town. I had stayed in Wallace before in a big modern hotel that was further out from the city. The hotel provided us with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which were probably homemade. The hotel was very clean. The owner of the hotel was very friendly. The owner informed us of things we left behind, I didn't ask her to send them but it was good to know what happened. I would have liked to have had coffee offered in the hotel.
- Donkun (8/5): - Clean room and friendly staff.
- Brian (10/5): - Very nice old hotel. Clean and well taken care of. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice historic hotel in a fun historic town. Highly recommend.
- Matthew (9/5): Old-fashioned boutique hotel in the heart of a hidden-gem mountain town - Great location close to restaurants, shops, cafes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Old-fashioned hotel vibes are a refreshing change from cookie-cutter chain franchises.
- RENAULT (8/5): - Hôtel propre et avec un personnel au petit soin et très sympathique. Rien
- Jenny (9/5): - I liked the historic aspect of the hotel. It had character.
- D. J. (8/5): Comfortable historic hotel located near restaurants and stores. - Great location, very clean.
- amy (10/5): -
- Newbauer (10/5): -
- Jerry (6/5): - Overall nice experience. Only issue was getting a text letting me know there was plenty of parking and then 20 minutes before arrival I get a text letting me know that there’s a festival and no parking. Pretty frustrating after my 8 hour drive.
- Johanna (7/5): - Quaint. Cute older hotel. We had a
2 bedroom suite which was perfect for traveling with older kids. Street parking only.
No elevator.
- Johanna (7/5): - Cute Quaint and good size Street parking only. No elevator. No television in all rooms.
- Kirsten (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Donna was a delight! The room was darling and immaculate. Windows open for summertime breeze, perfect temperature at night. Only downside, highway traffic noise at night.
- HillaryS (10/5): Great historic hotel in a cool little town - We loved everything about our stay, from the friendly and welcoming staff to the spacious and well-appointed room, to the wonderful coffee in the lobby….We had room 3 which is connected to room 4, and it was perfect for three friends. Each room had its own sink, and the bathroom was shared between us occupants, so it was really convenient for getting ready in the morning. It was quiet, cozy, clean, comfortable and the front desk worker was so kind and helpful. I’ve already recommended this hotel to a few friends as our stay here added so much to our one night in the cool town of Wallace. Nothing. All fantastic.
- Beth (10/5): -
- Selena (10/5): Great small hotel - Stopped by chance on a road trip and was very pleasantly surprised! Very cute boutique hotel in downtown historic Wallace. The women who checked us in had multiple suggestions for family friendly dining and brought a Little People toy to our too. For our 21mo which was a huge hit.
- Neva (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay very clean and super friendly staff. Very quiet and conveniently located for dining and walking around.
- Rica (10/5): - Absolutely love the hotel and the area. Felt very welcoming and safe. Everything was clean and everyone was very nice. Plannong another stay in the future.
- Don (10/5): - History
- Shelia (10/5): - Perfect accommodations for an overnight stay.
- Nadine (9/5): Superb -
- Jennelle (10/5): - Donna is an amazing host. So welcoming and the hotel has loads of charm.
- Jeremiah (10/5): - It was clean and comfortable, even though we were there for music festival after festivities it was quiet. The room was hot with the only fans for relief. Otherwise it was an enjoyable stay and the town has a community pool for use.
- Patria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colleen (10/5): Comfortable, well-appointed room with friendly staff. - Close to everything, uncomplicated check in and out. Very cute. Coffee in the morning with a few thoughtful snacks. Comfy bed and room. Though the days were hot and there was no AC, room stayed fairly cool with a small fan and windows open. Morning was a bit noisy from some construction going on across the street.
- Ian (10/5): - Nice location in a fun historic walkable town.
- jacqueline (8/5): - Friendly service
- Xuan (10/5): - Great hosting and great place for a stay to Yellowstone
- Douglas (10/5): - Excellent accommodations, owner, hospitality. Would never stay anywhere else in Wallace.
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely hosts, clean rooms, and comfortable bed with prime location in historic town.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Hotel was beautiful and Donna was an exceptional host/owner
- Julie (10/5): Great place to rest and relax - Donna, the hostess, greeted us warmly and was friendly. She was always available to address any issues. She served up a simple starter breakfast every am. Gave great recommendations as to where to eat and what activities to not miss. The location was great. No TV; however, there was WI-FI and you could use your device to watch what you wanted.
- Lei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colette (10/5): The town of Wallace was so quaint and fun. Not overcrowded and very walkable . - We loved the age of the building and it was very well cared for .
- Garon (6/5): - It is a charming hotel in a cool town. Close to biking adventures. Few amenities including no tv or ac. It was 90 degrees that afternoon and the room was warm. It did cool off overnight with a fan and open window.
- David (10/5): - We were there for the Elks summer Convention & it was just perfect. We parked our car & walked everywhere. It was so close to restaurants, shops & beautiful views of the mountains. Our bed was so comfortable, rooms were very clean & the owners were wonderful. We will go back!!!
Thank you so much for our stay.
- Colten (10/5): The Ryan Hotel is like going back in time and is a relaxing place to add to your adventure. - Very cool North Idaho town, and loved the time-capsule that Wallace and the Ryan Hotel are. Personally I would have wanted AC, but that's just me and I understand why it is not a priority.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Wonderful stay in Wallace - Well maintained older hotel; lots of charm.
Comfy bed, very quiet, fridge and microwave in our room. Clean updated bathroom with an excellent shower. No complaints!
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Donna is amazing as the proprietor of the Ryan Hotel!!! - Great location and friendly staff! N/A
- Michael (8/5): Excellent vintage hotel experience - It's an antique hotel, you don't come in expecting a Marriott, you expect a walk back on time and with that it exceeds my expectations. It was well kept up for its age. As a general contractor working in Wallace, I found the owners have worked very hard to keep the place together. Usually there are cracks in the wall, gaps in the base or flooring, odd bumps in the carpet, doors that don't close right, I found nothing in disrepair, and if it wasn't for the TV on one room, I felt like I stepped back in time. I didn't have anything to complain about, I was greeted promptly, explained the rules and wasn't bothered.
- Monika (10/5): A gem, thoughtfully managed by an excellent host - Easy to find hotel, close to the freeway, but despite the closeness of the road, it was quiet and we slept very well in our comfy large bed after a long day spent in the car. Our host was very helpful, and welcoming despite our late arrival. We can't thank her enough that we were able to have our clean and warm room despite arriving late in the night. Her kind handwritten note and the pre-heated room were such kind touches, much appreciated.
We loved the tasteful decor, reminders of a bygone are and the interesting magazines about the West, and especially the large map of the town, full of information and interesting facts about this charming place. Pity we could not spend more time here but most of the museums were closed for winter.
We could park right in front of the hotel. We did not have breakfast here although it was offered.
- Kathleen (7/5): Comfortable and clean rooms. but lacking accommodations. - The owners were very friendly when we arrived. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was fantastic. It would be perfect for people who were just looking to spend most of their time skiing/doing outdoor activities/exploring, etc. I thought we were going to get a room with a view, but got one with a view of a brick wall. Since I was there part of one day, that was disappointing, especially since it made the room a bit dark. I was hoping for a place that was more comfortable to "hang out" in that didn't require just sitting on the bed or on a chair by a window with no view. I also wish there would have been a TV in the room. I also would have liked a bathtub in our bathroom.
- Nick (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (8/5): My stay at the Ryan Hotel was a very nice place to stay. - The Ryan Hotel encapsulated all that is Wallace: Historic, Beautiful, Quaint, Boutique and walking distance from almost everything in Wallace.
- Patricia (10/5): CHARMING PLACE with loads of character - The hotel was full of character, being in the historic section of town. The ample room space (we had a suite) was fabulous. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and comfortable. My only suggestion might be an addition of perhaps croissants or pastries to the breakfast fare of fruit and breakfast bars. The coffee was delicious and all was ready at the time promised.
- Diana (8/5): Very good - Great location in downtown. It's an old building, but the owners keep this place in decent condition. Comfortable beds, nice staff. The room has all the necessary things. Tiny shower, but it's understandable.
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Yue (10/5): - This is a special hotel in historic Wallace. I like the renovation style, boutique furniture, and nice environment. The room is very specious. Lots of restaurants nearby.
- Dave (9/5): Great location, service, and room. We highly recommend the Ryan Hotel. - The hosts were great with restaurant recommendations, overnight parking suggestions while we biked the CDA, breakfast snacks, and especially a mud cleaning bucket and towels for the bikes after a day on the Route of the Hiawatha tunnels. Very thoughtful! Not much, loved our stay.
- Jerold (9/5): Great place to stay - Minimal breakfast - but good restaurants in walking distance. Excellent location and great town. Would have gladly stayed longer.
- Kevin (10/5): - Really great old school hotel. All the rooms are up a flight of stairs so look elsewhere if that's an issue for you.
- Barbara (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Great location close to restaurants. Very friendly helpful owners. Quiet and comfortable. Coffee always ready early along with fruit and granola type bars.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay in Wallace - We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is very centrally located near a number of excellent restaurants.
- Steven (10/5): Excellent! - Wonderful historical hotel in the heart of the city. Walk to great restaraunts. Parking on the street.
- Colleen (10/5): - Great place. Wished we could have stayed longer. Would definitely recommend and will stay again!
- Alan (8/5): Comfortable and convenient. - Ryan Hotel is a very nice old west hotel. However, it doesn’t TV, although it does have good internet. Also, some rooms are not air conditioned, but that may or may not be a problem, depending on the weather. The hotel is right in town and very convenient to restaurants, shops and tours.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Erika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tami (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (9/5): A really great, very comfortable, family-run hotel in Wallace. We will stay here again! -
- Robin (9/5): Very enjoyable - Location and historical background
- Chris (9/5): Nice property. WE were only there for a quick overnight so just slept and left. -
- Sherri (10/5): We were driving thru to Montana. Next time we will stay longer - Location and everything was perfect. Nothing
- diane (10/5): - Owner Donna was very nice and room was clean and quite.
- Chloe (10/5): - Such an awesome place, nice and quiet. Comfortable and owner was very kind.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Yamamoto (8/5): Very good - The owner staff were really nice had a good time in the town walking around.. There was no TV ,the view out the window was a brick was a brick wall and not really a breakfast.
- Joseph (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel did not have air conditioning and the weather was hot (over 100 degrees that day. The room cost more than 180 dollars a day.
- Bonny (10/5): - This is a heritage hotel thus one shouldn’t expect every “modern” convenience. That said this hotel is very comfortable, very clean, the hot water is very hot and the cold is cold. We stayed a Monday and Tuesday night and had a room facing the Main Street. We had the windows open and were not troubled by any street noise. The owner Donna is a lovely, calm soul and willing to help in any way she can. The wifi was fast and reliable and the coffee and the light breakfast available in the morning was a nice start to the day. I would definitely stay at the Ryan again!
- Dorothy (10/5): - Donna is so welcoming to her guests she makes you feel at home. It's really nice that they have many menus from the local restaurants so you can choose a place at your leisure.
- Bryan (8/5): Very good -
- Kellie (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing. - Loved the old style and the atmosphere. There truly wasn't anything I could say bad about the Ryan. I would stay again.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - Wallace is an enjoyable stop. Lots to see and do within walking distance.
- Debbie (10/5): - Fun staying in a room that has a turn of the century feel
- William (10/5): Loved it. - All good. Room, people, location, and facilities were all a great experience. Nothing.
- Baker (8/5): Unique & comfortable with nice staff - It was unique I didn’t see anything about steps which could be a mobility issue for some
- Ryan (10/5): Two thumbs up! - Everything about our stay at “The Ryan” was great!
- Heather (10/5): - The person who checked us in was friendly and knowledgeable of the local events and activities
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mcgovern-pilant (10/5): Staying in the heart of Wallace at the Ryan Hotel was perfect. We could walk to restaurants and bars. The owners were - Ryan Hotel was charming and very comfortable.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): - I consider myself very fortunate to have spent an evening at the Ryan Hotel. They provided me with everything I needed to know upon my arrival and my room was very comfortable (it did include a bathroom). To be honest, I feel they should be writing a review about me, and not the other way around, since I failed to abide by one of the instructions in the bathroom about not twisting the shower knob too hard! I felt bad about that, but they did not hold it against me. The area around the hotel is very walkable, and you can easily park on the street. I had a microwave in my room that I used to make oatmeal in the morning. They did a good job of communicating when I needed to arrive, and so that did not become an issue.
- Donald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rjbeach (9/5): Superb - Location, it was a fun town.
- Chuck (10/5): GreT hotel in the heart of Wallace - The hotel has the feel of history on the outside and common areas. The rooms feel historical but are nicely updated and immaculately clean. The owners were a pleasure to talk with and took the time to share the history of the hotel. They also provided free secure storage for our bicycles. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and shops, and downtown Wallace is great for walking. AC is limited to certain rooms, so factor that in to your trip. Would definitely stay here again.
- Lynn (8/5): Glad we stayed as it provided an old feel of Wallace. Great location & walkability of all downtown. - The unique antiquity and furnishings are lovely. Family owned and gracious greeting when we arrived. Cleanliness and comfy bed an A+. We did appreciate the "get started" breakfast on our own. We had a difficult time sleeping due to the amount of light in the room from the door transom from the hallway lighting. It was as if we actually had left a lamp on while trying to sleep. Lighting in the room was dim over the sink mirror making makeup application challenging, but there was a mirror with good lighting in the bathroom. No place to plug in a hair dryer next to any mirror.
