EDGAR (9/5): - Location in town was close to all the sites to visit. Very unique, comfortable and enjoyable. You will not meet anyone upon arrival. Apparently similar to a B&B where everything is done electronically. Be sure to read the pre-arrival message to understand the procedures to get into the facility, your room, and where to park. The main floor (2nd story) is 24 steps up, the third story is another flight up. Outside elevator was out of commission, but we didn't need it. I didn't understand how to inform them of my arrival, via an electronic reply but a phone call worked out. This was unique to me, others may understand this process.

Keurig coffee station. Cool bed, but a little too soft for a bad lower back... Regardless, we would definitely go back again.

The mini fridge came in handy to keep our beverages cold. We used the free Netflix account a few times. The walls were a bit thin and we could hear the people in adjacent rooms at times. Located in the center of downtown within walking distance up all attractions and two a cute coffee shop.

Diana (10/5): 💜 - We loved the uniqueness of the room/building. The bed was amazing. We spent our 23rd wedding anniversary there. I am pretty sure I read all the little notes and of course, left my own. We were looking for a slow-paced pace quiet getaway and this was perfect. Casey Coffee was amazing, Crazy eight bbq grill 😋. We ate at Richard Farmhouse Restaurant for our anniversary dinner neat experience. "Big things in a little town" If you get a room on the 2nd floor expect to hear loud movements from the 3rd floor if guests are above you. But remember this is a unique old building and is honestly part of the charm. (The stairs are steep)

Dana (10/5): New type of stay! - So fun. People leave messages in the bricks! The steps are noisy, but it's not detrimental to the stay. Coffee in the entryway. No check in. Texts from owner. Never had that before. I think I like it!
Janice (6/5): - The room was charming and very comfortable. I never received a text from the owners with door code information. Having never stayed there, I didn't expect one. I didn't find this out until we arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes while they tried to get that text to me. Also when we arrived, we were told that the elevator was out of order. Our only access to our room was a steep staircase with about 25 steps. That was the only downside to our stay. The room was very nice and the town was a pleasant area to walk around in.
Shelly (10/5): - We loved this hotel! It was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was unique! Be sure to look for the notes in the wall from previous guests. We would definitely stay here again! We didn’t mind, but there is a train that runs right by the hotel all day and night.
Caroline (10/5): I SO wish this was closer to home! Affordable and BEAUTIFUL! - The room was GORGEOUS! Free parking was definitely a plus, and the room even had a floor-standing fan which was perfect for us traveling in from the southeast, as well as a community coffee station right outside our door in the hall (which also has spare utensils and other things if you can't find them in your room). Communication from our hostess was pretty fast, and the check-in/out was very easy and informative. I will say, the outdoor utility elevator was a little bit scary (but I'm not a fan of elevators to begin with). If you're not good with stairs, it may be a difficult stay. But we were good with everything!
Kathleen Wood (10/5): - Great location to walk around town and see the ‘Big Things’. Nicely appointed room, not your average hotel. Enjoyed the historic building and all its character. The grandchildren were intrigued by the elevator. I would definitely stay again if in the area.
Tony (10/5): - Room 205 Like: Very clean! Staff were actually friendly and happy to have conversations instead of just answering questions. I'm 5'10" and weigh 220. The bed was supportive without being hard. The rain shower head was a nice touch, and the handheld extension provided good water pressure. Also, the walk-in shower is perfect for people who have a hard time stepping into a bath tub. I loved the ambience of this corner room. I do think the beds were 2 different sizes a queen and a full perhaps? Then again maybe I'm wrong. I would recommend ear plugs. The other guests didn't walk around much or make too much noise, but there there is a train that passes nearby. Almost everything is within a few blocks of the hotel. I would like to visit this hotel again and try a different room. One recommendation for this room would be to bring a sleep mask as the room has Easter facing windows. All that being said, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Rachelle (6/5): Cute, charming but loud - This is a unique hotel - very charming. Rooms are nicely appointed and clean. My only caution is maybe the obvious - it’s an old hotel. There is little to no sound proofing. Our room was right under the creaky old stairs and it was very very loud.

Kim (6/5): Not what I expected at all - The reviews looked great and I always wanted to stay here so thought I would give it a try. The check-in at 6pm online was okay. Got odd text with a picture of a door, with no follow up then was texted did you get a text with instructions which I took as the confirmation email so answered yes but that’s not what text was asking so then the whole process went downhill from there. It was late arrival we were tired from traveling all day and when we didn’t know how to enter which room number we actually were in and walking all the steps up to the second floor it was a lot. I’m able to climb stairs just wasn’t expecting that many. The elevator in the back was too unsafe weird sounding to try so that was a NO! Finally got to room still had no code to enter thankfully person was there to plug it in but didn’t tell it to us luckily we didn’t need to leave the room again. Then two trains come through town and since we don’t know the area well we are definitely thinking great this is not going to be a restful night. Room was cold no decent blanket in room and no plates in mock kitchen area. Plenty of cabinets but nothing in them. I’ve stayed in places like this before and had much better experience. It was disappointing and would not recommend it to others and won’t be back. It was adequate like staying at a place that provided an adequate bed and bathroom but nothing else. I’ll stick with Best Western next time though. price was high for a Wed. with an 8pm arrival, checkout by 10am
Candace (9/5): Superb - Love the location and the adorable little town. The room was really cool with the exposed brick. A different type of room and it was charming! Loved the high ceilings and the uniqueness. Staff very pleasant. Bathroom could use a hand towel holder and toilet paper holder attached to wall. There wasn't a place to hang hand towel and toilet paper was a floor tower that kept falling over. Small things though. Maybe a tad bigger sofa or an ottoman to rest feet would be nice! Coffee maker needing to be descaled

Todd (8/5): 1890 Sleepover - Casey Illinois - Had to look twice when we pulled up to figure out how to get in. Received a text with check in codes (how to unlock doors). Room was cute but chilly. They do give you a space heater. We used it because temps in 20’s. Nice shower. Good tv. Comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay. Would stay again!
Joshua (4/5): - Stayed one night while traveling through for business. I was told the room had a desk, it had a sewing machine table with foot controls underneath and no chair. Texted the host and was told someone would bring a chair. They showed up an hour later with a dusty folding chair. The room was COLD and got moreso as the night went on. The meager space heater provided was a joke. Room was at 68 when I arrived and set the temp at 74. It never got warmer and the heater temp display showed 66 when I woke up cold in the morning. No extra blankets either. No closet and nowhere to hang clothes except the 4-post bed frame. No iron. Bring your own toiletries for sure. Disappointing experience overall, I wouldn't recommend this "hotel" and won't stay again. Expected better based on the previous reviews.

The 1890 Sleepover is conveniently in the middle of everything, it’s very comfortable and modern yet, it takes you back in time. If you like antique architecture, you will love it here.

Ayla (8/5): Hotel with awesome AirBNB vibe - Staff were prompt in giving us our codes and even sent a pic of the front door which made finding the place super easy. We ended up in the only room with no windows so it was a little stuffy but it was great that a fan was provided. Big TV was a huge plus and the bed was very comfortable. Nice towels and good water pressure in the shower. Down side was how much you can hear other guests in the building, but really liked the coupon for breakfast. Would definitely stay again. Went to the barn restaurant for dinner, which was close by. Locals were friendly.

Christina (10/5): Cutest Spot Ever! - My daughter and I stayed on the second floor for a single night as we were simply traveling through the town. We were absolutely amazed with the atmosphere and attention to detail of the space and experience. The beds were extremely comfortable, we slept like the dead! Shower was great both pressure and temperature wise. The fixtures and the furniture in the room/bathroom make it clear that the owner put a lot of time and love into this building. Our room had cute little notes from other travelers in the exposed brick which we of course loved and added to! Cleanliness, friendliness, and again, atmosphere, was unmatched, and we’ve stayed at chain hotels all over the country. Although we were only passing through for the night, we have already talked about planning a future trip specifically to this town to spend more nights here while we explore.

Thomas (10/5): - Convenient location. Clean and accessible. Obviously the trains going through less than a block away isn't ideal, but there's not anything that can be done about that. Having an A/C vent right above the bed, with no way to shut it off or adjust the temperature was a real problem. Otherwise, the atmosphere was good and it was a nice room.

Lisa (10/5): A comfy Sleepover inn - The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was comfortable and well appointed. It is absolutely a wonderful old building made into a beautiful inn. Safety was never a concern. The bed was very comfortable, and again, the room was spotless. A great experience overall. Definitely should be on your list to stay in. It isn't so much a didn't like: The stairs are appropriate for the age of the building, so be aware that you may be hoisting your luggage via stairs. There is an elevator to the second floor however it wasn't working during our stay. It's not an issue if you are mobile. It could be a bit noisy, again it's the building and should be expected. I would definitely stay here again.

Dean (10/5): Casey is a fun place to visit and 1890 is certainly part of the fun. We’ll be back! - We got a breakfast voucher for several places in town. We picked the WW by the wind chimes and had great food and service. We had a little trouble with the door codes us being older and not familiar with the technology, but once we got used to it there wasn’t a problem.
Angie (6/5): Room 202 - The room was a nice size and what I thought it would look like but unfortunately the elevator was not working and the only way to get to our room was to walk up and down 24 stairs and to some this may not be a bother but I am disabled and have a very hard time climbing stairs. Also if you stay in room 202 you will be constantly hearing people walking up and down the stairs even through out the night. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable too.

sheila (10/5): Romantic getaway for a couple married 44 years. - Stunning room. Every detail from the satiny sheets to the woodwork to the bathroom sink and rainfall shower. So romantic. We loved reading the notes left by other guests tucked in the brickwork. Very walkable to the " big" attractions. And to restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream. Highly recommend a stay here.

Julia (9/5): Superb - So cute, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for finding the Big Things. Access to the room was tricky. The building is older so there was a lot of noise from the other guest on the stairs. It would have been nice to have another mirror to use for makeup and hair when someone else was in the bathroom. Refrigerator was not very cold.

There was a free coffee bar down the hallway. It was close to all the attractions. The $10 breakfast credit was easy to use at a choice of local restaurant. We received a code to enter the building and room. Staff were very professional and informative. Highly recommend and would stay again. Great place in a quaint little town.

Kathryn (10/5): - This is such a cute historic building and the room we stayed in was excellent, very pretty, clean, and comfortable and had a good view of the town and the larger than life attractions! You should be aware though that there is no front desk or lobby. You will be texted your codes to enter the building and your room which we were fine with. Also there are many stairs up to the rooms but there is a quirky elevator out back that does work in case you don't do stairs and to make getting your luggage up to your room easier. Overall, this is such a cute place in a very cute town, definitely worth a visit!
