The electrical plates were hanging out of the wall. Tv was so small it was on a small table and was below the bed so you couldn’t watch it. Ramp outside of our room was old and boards were rotten about the break. Very disappointed. We have stayed here prior and our room before was nothing like this one. Definitely needs updating.

- April (10/5): - Authentic vintage roadside, pet friendly, motel experience. The rooms are very much as they were when built originally (my guess is 50's). Nothing fancy but everything a practical person needs. My room was clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. They did great giving us an early check-in. Additionally, there is a back yard to this place, with chairs and a creek. It is awesome. My dog and I really enjoyed our time in and beside the creek. I'd definitely stay here again.

- soniad317 (2/5): BEWARE AND STAY AWAY - BEWARE AND STAY AWAY!!! This place is absolutely terrible. We came to Maggie Valley for a weekend getaway and had this trip planned for 5 months. I booked this motel because of their website and all the amenities. However within minutes of checking in, we were horribly disappointed. We had room 107 and upon entering the room the smell of cigarettes, body odor and mold was overwhelming. The bathroom ceramic tile floor had no transom from the bedroom and with the ceramic tile higher than the bedroom floor it's easy to slice your toes on the raw cut edges of the tile. The towel rack in the bathroom under the light switch was broken off and only one side of the bracket was attached which could cause a possible injury. The toilet seat had urine on it from a previous guest and the shower rod was rusty. The TV was smaller than my cooler bag and the TV kept freezing up to buffer that it was pointless to even watch TV. We drove to the Dollar General to buy Lysol and an air freshener spray. Neither did much to get rid of the odor. Since the cost of the room for 2 nights was just shy of $400 I asked to be moved to another room in which they were kind enough to do and it was an upgrade however the issue of cleanliness was still an issue. The previous guest used the toilet plunger and in doing so some of the toilet paper from their excrement was on the floor by the toilet, only 2 bulbs worked on the bathroom light fixture over the mirror and at least 6 bulbs were burnt out. The bulb in the ceiling fan was also burnt out, there was soap scum around the Jacuzzi tub that was never cleaned and the list goes on. We tried their so called Speakeasy bar and it's a like a dark dungeon in a basement that's so small you can barely move past another person. The bartender had no clue how to make a fuzzy navel or old fashioned and had to look it up. It took her 18 minutes to give us just 2 drinks. They were so extremely sour neither of us to stomach to drink it. I didn't ask for the money back just for a plane coke instead. Apparently the restaurant they speak of is in that bar as well. So good luck with that. After a few sips of coke we headed back to our room. In the morning I went to the office to express my concerns and issues with the cleanliness of the rooms to be told by the General Manager LORRAINE that I'm a "Spoiled Bitch" because I like a clean room and then defended the bartender saying she is new so paying $10 for s drink she can't make that's terrible and undrinkable is okay. I'm pretty sure the orange juice in the drink she made me was spoiled. Then the General Manager told me that I should leave the property and never come back. And she was motioning me to leave. I told her she lacked proper customer service and she opened the door and kept telling me to leave the property shaking her finger in my face. We both exchanged a few words at each other. I paid for two nights and only stayed one night. She by far takes the cake for a disrespectful, rude and nasty person. Their website is very misleading. Look at the reviews on TripAdvisor. I wish I had before I booked this nasty, filthy dirty place. Word of mouth and reviews are a powerful thing. Save yourself the misery and headache and stay away from this wretched place.

Extra shower fixtures in shower. The air conditioner was behind curtain main window Couldn’t feel it. Curtains come apart with full view of bed. Close to all attractions and food.
- CBRabenecker (10/5): Local Musicians Jam Every Sunday at Meadowlark! - Maggie Valley can be a sleepy mountain town especially on Sunday night. But not at the Meadowlark Motel. Head behind the motel and in the back door (kind of like a speakeasy) for an energetic gathering of local musicians, great cocktails, delicious burgers, and a cast of characters. Stop by more than once and you become part of the family. Music starts at 5 and ends at 7.

There are a lot of trees and shrubs around the pool so it can’t be seen from the road or parking lot at all. It feels private. The Speakeasy is the best hangout in Maggie Valley. Its vibe can’t be matched. The rooms are cozy and the location is ideal for your stay in Maggie Valley. Definitely recommend.

Had an issue with water pressure/ hot water first evening. Maintenance was called. They made sure we had another room for hot shower. Next day in our room water was fine and good to go. Would definitely stay there again.

The canopy area needs attention but it's still nice. The restaurant has a good menu. It took a while to get out food but it was worth the wait. Rocking chairs and table at the front door of the rooms. Staff is super friendly and attentive. We stayed during the biker rallys each time. So it's a bit more expensive than regular stays. Can't speak for everyone but bikers like it. They will give you rags if needed and let you put your bike under the canopy

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This was the first time I ate at the restaurant and I've been missing out! I always enjoy sitting by the creek in the vening and then enjoying a cocktail or two in the speakeasy. Highly recommend!!

- MaximusRichie (10/5): Unexpected Gem in Maggie Valley - This was my first visit to Maggie Valley, and I was delightfully surprised by the retro charm, friendly staff, comfortable room, and awesome food at the Meadowlark Motel. I simply did not expect such a great experience and friendly vibe from a motel. The rooms were spotless and appeared to have been recently renovated, featuring new refrigerator and microwave appliances, towels, bed linen, and flooring. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the shades and air conditioning worked well, and my nights were peaceful and quiet. The bathroom comes with a hot tub, which I didn't use, but they were well-ventilated. The free Wi-Fi and convenient television with streaming channels were great. There were several amenities I didn't get a chance to explore – the pavilion and several fire pits – but I did enjoy the quiet comfort of a solid rocking chair on the spacious deck and a stroll by the creek while my kids enjoyed countless hours splashing about in the pool. I appreciated that the pool had several floaties for the kids to use, and the flowers and shrubs provided privacy from the street view. The restaurant has a new chef, and I was happy with the variety and rich flavor of the ribs, smoked chicken, sliders, and shrimp. The blackberry pie was a secret recipe from the owners family and exceptional. Even my picky youngsters found several dishes to enjoy, so we ate all of our evening meals on-site. The speakeasy bar was cool, with eclectic décor and great live music. The speakeasy and porch areas were great spots to meet other guests, who were a mix of bikers, European vacationers, concert-goers, and hikers old and young. There’s a simple grab-and-go breakfast, making it easy to get a head start on the day without the fuss. The motel is within a short walk to the motorcycle museum (a few walking minutes away), steakhouse, sandwich shop, fairgrounds, and shopping, so I was happy not to have to drive to get around. This was a godsend, as I found parking to be very tight within the ten-block radius of the fairgrounds. You'll, of course, need your car to get to the nearby mountains, which offer breathtaking views, hikes, and curious elks.

- Jose (10/5): Cozy Stay - We were only here the 1 night, on a road trip, but were pleasantly surprised with this motel in the very cozy Maggie village. We had room 130, it was overlooking the creek, providing great views, bed was nice, had a large tub too. The entire motel had a very mountain cabin type feel to it which we loved. The owner was very friendly and helpful as well. We were here during the off season but there was still plenty of dining options to choose frome. Would definitely return again.

I recommend the room beside the creek because you can hear the soothing sound of the creek all day and it has a beautiful view. Management is very attentive and kind. Room was clean. Pet Friendly! Lots of room for walkies. The breakfast is okay in a pinch but I recommend going somewhere nearby for breakfast. :)

- shirley (4/5): Go elsewhere - First of all, the "restaurant" is closed. Breakfast consisted of coffee, lucky charms and black bananas and stale mini pastries. The ice machine is locked up at 9 pm and often doesn't work at all. The staff was notified that someone had dumped pop in front of our door, but they never cleaned it up. Grumpy staff. Not worth the price.

The floors were filthy I knew as soon as I opened the door, tub/shower had hairs in it just wasn’t clean, went straight and bought a stiffer mop, feel I should have been compensated for some of this stay only thing I got was I will let owners know and get with Cleaning crew, woke up to smell of pot at 4:45 am got up loaded my things my 73 year old mom and left!!!!
- Edgar (6/5): - continental breakfast was excellent. Room smelled like urine, but was clean. Windows would not stay open to air out. Had to purchase Fabreze from store for Oder. Toilet seat was loose. Large gap under entrance door over an inch - put pillows there to close out noise. Bathroom door would not close. Coffee pot leaked water due to a crack in the plastic.

- Wesley (6/5): - The pool was out of order but we were not told that until we arrived, our air conditioner in our room did not work well. They have a "Speakeasy" which uses a huge part of the motels parking spaces so you can not even park by your room and the traffic is horrible. The staff however was wonderful and tried very hard to accommodate us

- alexar769 (6/5): Was "once" a hidden gem... - Visiting this beautiful area with friends who had been frequenting the Meadowlark for years. I was so excited about this really cool place with weekend BBQ dinners on the creek at a pavilion, karayoke, firepits, rocking chairs on the porch, restaurant and bar... sounded too good to be true. And it was. I will say... it was clean, the staff was friendly, there was a free grab & go breakfast area, there was a tiny crowded bar area with live music, the beds were firm and comfortable, the ice machine was working, there were sturdy rocking chairs outside each room, there were firepits with wood provided (but no starters or kindling), and the other guests around us were fun, friendly, and down-to-earth. But the pool was closed, the pavilion dinners are a thing of the past, the restaurant was closed, no ventilation in the bathroom and the tiny window would not open, the TV is Roku (whatever that is) and we could never get it work for anything but streaming so no local TV or network programs. Neither could anyone else around us. The gathering place in the evenings is on the concrete area outside the rooms and there is a table and rocking chairs. It was fun talking with the other guests but there are bright overhead lights and they attracted bugs and made it difficult to view the beautiful mountains in front of us. This could be a really cool place, and I'm sure it once was. But there are a lot of improvements that could be made to bring it back to it's former glory. In the meanwhile, please update your website with the actual amenities you now provide and concentrate on providing the extras that will continue to bring your guests back again.

- Jessica (10/5): Our new go to place to stay in Maggie Valley - This is the greatest place to stay in Maggie Valley, hands-down. Joseph, the owner, is the bomb and so awesome. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. All of the amenities are spot on like the creek, fire pit, pool, restaurant/bar/lounge, had live music. Breakfast. Plus, walking distance to most everything. I could not have been any better and this is our new go to place when we come to Maggie Valley. Oh, and of course the room was fantastic.

- deannag420 (4/5): Don’t wast your time or money - We we’re very unhappy!No maid service! The POOL WAS CLOSED! The RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED! The Speak easy was a NASTY BASEMENT! Nothing to drink NO MOONSHINE NO CHAMPAGNE! No food! I’m really sorry but I really wish I had gone to a different place!
- 122heidim (2/5): Stay somewhere else. - First I want to say the people here were very nice and our room was clean. But that’s all the nice things I can say. We was so excited about the place until we got there. Website says they have a restaurant they do not, said it would be open next week, but we was there from Wednesday till Tuesday and it never opened up. The pool is closed, the Speak easy/bar is small, hot and chairs were so uncomfortable we left after 2 drinks. The continental breakfast they offer is well we didn’t have anything the entire time we was there. Toast, boxed Cereal tiny cinnamon roll looking things and green bananas. The last two days they were out of coffee creamer. I maybe should of put up a fight got my money back and went somewhere else but we decided we wasn’t going to be in room much. Also Shower went from hot water to cold water randomly. Also website says free barbecue on Saturday night, never found that either. I did enjoy sitting outside at end of day but the chairs were clean.

- Travel804031 (2/5): Traveler Beware - What a dive! The website is outstanding however it's just good marketing. The rooms are dated, dirty and the chairs outside were disgusting, broken and filthy. Not that I would use the pool but it was non functioning. The kitchen was also closed, so no restaurant. Smoking and non smoking rooms were integrated. It is in dire need of renovation. Cable tv wires hanging from the walls and service mount electrical conduit exposed. What a nightmare! Other customers were leaving and demanding refunds.
- David (10/5): Great location in a beautiful place. - We go to Maggie Valley a few times a year and always stay at the Meadowlark Motel. It is nestled right up to the creek and is always clean. The rooms are retro and rustic, which is great for the mountains. If you want fancy, this is not for you, but if want a clean room in a great and beautiful location, this is it.

- emalemaloo (6/5): We wanted to love it, but felt let down - We really wanted to love this motel. It’s our favorite kind of place: older, family owned. So, it hurts me to have to say… this was a letdown. First, the good: Location: right on Soco. Easy in & out. Great breakfast/lunch spot next door. The creek right behind it. The Wheels Through Time is right behind it. Cleanliness: the rooms are SPOTLESS. So were the public areas. Appearance: the room colors are beautiful, the linens are nice. The wide front porch with the rocking chairs & adirondacks are great to relax in the afternoon. The retro styled fridge & microwave are a cute touch. Comfort: great black out curtains, soft linens, firm mattresses , plenty of hot water Staff: friendly but seemed stretched thin. The sort of bad: No fan in the bathroom, so it gets steamy in there. But, no big, crack the window. The bath tub tap leaked pretty bad & was corroded. The toilets are low flow & don’t flush very well. The AC could be cooler. It was not great. The rooms are no smoking but the porch is smoking allowed. So, if you sit outside, good chance you’re going to smell cigarette smoke. The Ugly: We booked this hotel specifically because of their heavily touted on social media restaurant- Homecraft. The week before we went, they posted it would be closed a while. It stinks, but that’s life now. It’s hard to find staff. But, the bar, Speakeasy was going to be open with “bar bites.” So, we were still excited about that. The picture of curry chicken at Speakeasy on FB looked amazing! We checked in & they reiterated that they were serving food after 5. Yay! Nope. We go in, they’ve got a small menu with some great sounding items. We decided on some appetizers. We begin to order & he says, “oh, no, we don’t have those. Just smash burgers right now. They’re great, though.” Sigh. From items (plural) to item (singular)? Not what we were hoping. Then, we find out that despite it being listed as an amenity, and it being a hot June weekend, the pool is closed. No sign, no disclosure as you check in. Nope. Just a truck parked blocking the path & when we asked, it was closed due to code issues. Also, the cute little building with the tin sign about ice? No sign anywhere that indicate that the drink machine, snack machine & ice machine were ALL out of order, until you are IN the building. The free Saturday Night BBQ that’s still showing on the website? Nope. Didn’t happen. Essentially, driving through the complex looks like all is in order. But, it’s really not. Small things that pile up. Stuff happens. But, please be honest. If your pool is closed, you post that. At the desk. On socials. If your menu goes from items to item. Post it. Make sure your staff knows. If you don’t have an available ice machine, slap some ice trays in the room fridges. Keep your website updated. Knowing any or maybe even all of this wouldn’t have made us cancel. Again, stuff happens. This is a motel that they seem to be working to restore. So I would make a ton of allowances for that. But, not delivering on so many levels was just super frustrating. It felt a bit bait & switch. So, the TLDR is cute motel that’s trying to come back from some neglect. Cute rooms that need a bit more updating in the bathrooms, Clean, comfy, convenient. Lots of listed amenities not actually available. Note: we did not speak to management, as none of this could be fixed while we were there. In their defense, the owner spoke with us once & was nice.
- lisabO8965VJ (4/5): Renovations Needed - The staff were nice enough but the rooms need a major renovation, especially for the cost. The bathrooms are extremely outdated. The heating/cooling units are old. The furniture & bedding are dated. Not very clean. The coffee pot didn’t work but the mini fridge & microwave looked newer. I wouldn’t describe the breakfast as continental…very basic. Out of four rooms rented, only one was able to get the television to work.
